Connor in Mesa Arizona he said the last few years you've shared which team fascinates you the most for the season do you have one this year of course I do it's probably one I've told you about in years past it's Texas A&M yet again it's Texas A&M structure and organization are important words here so they hired Mike Elco no one made a big deal about it everyone was busy talking about dbor to Alabama everyone was busy talking about everything other than football everything was conference realignment and the portal and this and that and A&M went out and just killed it I think in hiring a coach not a superstar not a rockar just the perfect guy for the job so they lacked organization and structure out there just wasn't Jimbo think and now they got it they didn't have to go take a chance on the guy that's not proven in fact he's specifically left there to go prove himself as a head coach because once upon a time he was a coordinator there and then he went to Duke and here's what I want you to remember there are guys I went and watched our recap of the Duke Clemson game from week one of last year when they beat Clemson 28 to7 and I said on that show something that I'm going to tell you again sometimes coaches inherit an underrated situation that just needs the right thing injected into it Mike Elco inherited probably an underrated situation at Duke that just needed the right thing injected into it him him structure organization way of doing things way of seeing things and he upgraded it overnight it didn't take two or three years he upgraded it overnight there was an immediate spike in production now that only is capable of happening if you have at least something there to work with if you got to burn it down and start from scratch forget all that but he didn't have to do that at Duke doesn't have to do it at A&M either see he's walking into one of the more underrated roster situations in college football he's walking into a place with all of the passion and infrastructure the sport could ever offer he's not a stranger to College Station I think he could walk in there this is this year I'm talking about now he could walk in there defense should be nasty this year o lions got a fair amount of questions not necessarily a weakness just questions Connor wigman I was over on texags earlier today and there's a big argument going on about why all these National Talking Heads always talk about injury and how he's so injury prone well he's been prone to missing some games in the past how about that um if I've got him for a season and uh I've I've got the defense I think I've got there Texas A&M I've got them at number 13 JP Po's got him at number 13 power rate him at number 13 they're a favorite against Notre Dame they're a favorite in week one against playoff caliber Notre Dame you guys get what odds makers are telling you they right right by two and a half at this point so even if you shave off home field they're telling you neutral field A&M Compares very favorably with the team most people have pegged to go to the playoff this is this is not some rebuild it's not a restart button they're having to hit there so question is this is the fascinating part what if it happens what if the thing he did at Duke happens at A&M if it happens at A&M it's happening with way better football players it's happening with way better depth you're not having a smoking mirror you've got the horses to go line up with some folks in the SEC and beat them doing what you want to do instead of what your roster says you have to do if that makes any sense I'm very excited to see what they do starting in week one against Notre Dame [Music]
