Macka's 1965 Chevrolet Impala Convertible Project Part 2. - MND Victoria Fundraiser

so ladies and gentlemen welcome back to part two of maca's 1965 Chevrolet Impala convertible project uh in part one we saw uh we got an introduction rather to uh M neurone disease and an Alo also to the great work that um M&D Victoria doing with victorians that have been diagnosed with this disease um what you're going to see in part two and onwards uh is not going to make any sense to you unless I give you a um uh a bit of an explanation to the references of you're going to see in future videos um so at the start of this process well not the videos but before when we actually found out ma had been diagnosed with modern neurone disease uh and we wanted to reach out and help him do his show from that period of time up until the progress videos uh actually started Vince had gone to the workforce at ol and there were a lot of guys that have been in the automotive industry before and then they've come to us as Railway workers and we've trained them and they're doing their jobs and uh but they're bringing their skills that they've um uh brought from the automotive industry and what they did before into this project so that it can be a success so vinced reached out to all these people and asked them could they come along and help out with the project so there was a lot of people that came forward and Peter holam will see uh who came and said I'll do the diff up so I need the diff get the diff out of the car I wanted of course the car had to be at Newport for that but others had said you know I want the front quarter panel I want the the two front quarter panels I want the interior I want this I want that I want that and so Vince had a lot of a list of stuff that he had to take off that car and what we saw in episode one he's taking the Bonnet off the boot off so all those sort of things that were being farmed out to people so that they could do work in their home shop and uh and that was a fantastic effort because it enabled them in their own time to do the part and uh and also to get the part done and get it back to the car so we could bolt it back on again in future videos and you'll see it all come together cuz you saw in um episode one or part one that we've actually finished the car so these videos that you're looking at now were released as a um a progress video to all those people that were in the restoration project doing work because they were all working from their home Shops and and what was going on was that these videos were a link to show what everyone else was doing in their home shop and keep everybody abast with the whole project which was a fantastic thing um at early on in the piece in that period um and Lynn had asked us could we um raise money for M andd Victoria and and so then that became a a goal of theirs and and so through this process while the videos were going on we sort of brainstormed how we were going to reach out to the public because all the videos that you're seeing now were all um unlisted they're all sitting on YouTube still but um most of them was like 8 minutes of me waffling on and then about 5 minutes of the car and it was you it was nothing so these are being rejigged so that um you know you can just Breeze through them and just see what actually went on with the car with a little bit of an intro and a bit of an outro which you've seen um to raise money for M andd Victoria that's really important to us uh so um uh Vince had uh all these people that wanted parts and so there was a rush to sort of try and get stuff off and get momentum going and that was a fantastic thing the progress videos at the start were going out to about I'm going to say 15 people might have been 18 wasn't and uh and then of course those people that were getting them went to work and said oh I was watching the video the other night the others that weren't actually doing anything on the car that wanted to follow along with what video so when they found out then people started contacting me and asking can I get put on the list I can see the vide so in the end when the car was actually finished in a presentation day we had about 121 people that were um that were getting these videos um and keeping up with them um and through that process we managed to raise $1,180 I think the the figure was my hat's out of order and uh and then you know this went on after the car was presented and uh and then what happened was the uh the the figure just kept on Rising so now we're hoping that it will keep on going because we're going to release these to the public and that'll be a fantastic thing but um I had asked everyone for those videos if they would hold their phone on the on the on the on its Edge horizontally rather than up vertically because you get more video if you hold it horizontally and you'll see that in the next part of the video that I throw in so um as a result of that we had MC ambrosie who was one of the guys you'll see he makes the brake lines and everything early on in the pce and um uh he was a Serial offender of holding the phone uh up straight up and down you know not on its side and so we event invented the thing called the stick award and and that's in the end when the car was nearly finished we actually presented with a with a piece of stick that said this is awarded to Mick Amro cuz he's a Serial offender this blog and we and every time we did it and you'll see I did through the videos every time he did it and sent me in a piece of video like that I'd put in the reminder that you're going to see right now and so that'll appear in other videos as well so so it was it was a really fun project and uh and you know we were hanging it on each other all the way through it so it was it's just a bit of um bit of bonding and stuff so that was fantastic so now I'm going to stop talking I'll I'll throw you into the videos and uh and you can see what we got up to for part two so here we go um but if you hold the phone like that what I can do is reorientate the in the editing program I can reorientate the film and what happens is we only get small black bars across the top instead of big thick black bars down the side so you essentially there's more video footage to fill the screen up this way than there is with that way so I'll ask everybody if when they take their video if they can hold their phone like that while they do the videoing and that'll be a much better uh end product let me put me stick away side sorry cuz cuz he'll tell me off again so here we are at Eagles and Dean is looking after us and Ely we're getting all the engine fully dressed uh starter motor flex plate all the bolts to secure all the power steering components and alterat alternator it's got all the it's pretty much turn key we're going to get it to the car and turn key um and then we've also looked at these suspension components and they have them all in stock so that's upper ball joints lower ball joints all the steering and the rear as well y rubber rubbers and we going need to get a rubber kit for the car as well um which Dean's going to look at getting for us as well so far we're looking good and um I'm going to take I'm going to take hey brownie hello I'm going to go down to where the engine is watch my bag cuz there's a million dollars in there and my lipstick I'm worried about the lipstick this is the engine here it doesn't come with this air cleaner oh we get to get an air cleaner then no well that's the engine there 390 horsepower 355 Striker why not why not and we're going to have it dressed up She's a Beauty She's a Beauty we're going to have it dressed up with these um pulley and alternator and power steering P so it's going to look really good so we need an air cleaner R again flex plate to suit and all the BS so awesome really happy we're really happy really happy thanks so the photo we're looking out there is from left to right is Robert Brown browny and Dean from Eagle spares and Neil mcferson macka and Vince canalo on the on the far right and what they've done there is just organized the uh the engine and uh and other accessory bits that uh that eagle spares have been able to help them with so that's all coming along it's all starting to arrive all the parts and that's a f fantastic thing we're going to dress that engine yes but it's going to have these these components on a power steering pump and pulley that's going to look that's going to look awesome really really is can't wait happy ma yeah thumbs up bud excellent come here come here come oh bloody hell you'll be in trouble this but you've actually got to turn it off before you turn it it won't works drop the window back probably one hold on doesn't want to go down there okay well then it comes out now let's that's the door handle that's the door handle um we got a torch T don't they I know well they do need more horsepower more horsepower more horsepower yeah cuz there's no glass in this one four they all look like this probably but the four one the blue boot look a lot better but you're not going to leave them with these no no so we might as well I'll send them all out yeah and say give me six good ones polish clean chrome whatever you going to do for what they were look at the car's going to look mint and then it's like the bride's got a new dress but her shoes are red well she's got to have something old new something borrow something Blue On The Edge that's what the spring it's broken yeah we found it the classic 99 band with multiple singers we're going to count them down from 9 to one it would have been tough place that is tough yes well here it is guys bon in Highfield just done it during the week after work and stuff and uh yeah here's the bo Le just did the bo Le now all repairs High F it's all done um sorry I'm not really good with the video but yeah anyway she's already rock and roll so in this series of photos that were supplied by uh Dave we can see that the doors are being repaired and uh he's got the paint stripper out and he's cracking on with getting the paint off it and getting them all prepared so that they're in the high fill and that they're ready to to go so that's a really good thing Dave's doing excellent work there and uh and that's absolutely fantastic to uh see it all coming together and uh and getting ready to go back on the car again so in the next photo we're looking at um the radiator shroud and this is the work that Brownie's done he's organized the radiator to go into it and then he's um wi wheeled and removed all the Decay off the radiator shroud so that it's um ready to go back onto the radiator core once they get that from Desert coolers that's good work uh so what we're looking at there is a photo of the uh the wheel that might not even be the wheel that they've organized it might be just a a web photo of the wheel but that's the wheel that they're going wheels that they're going to get to go on to maa's car U I'm not even sure what sort of wheel it is but you know it's one of those ones you put the rubber tire on and uh and then it can bolt it onto the car and it'll go down the road and it'll look make the car look nice and that's very important that the finished product looks fantastic so the photo that we're looking at there is of the roof assembly and Andy's taken that out he's going to wirewheel it and lubricate the joints and everything make sure everything's working all right and then he's going to be painted in satin black as I understand and and then that'll come back and it'll go out to Steve Andrew where the um the what do you call it like the tonyu cover goes over the uh over the assembly and uh and then it's made to uh to work and to function and so I understand from Vince that Mack has already had organized that ages and ages ago and he had it sitting there so it's just a matter of putting it all together now so uh all those sort of things have gone out and they're all coming back together again and that's good work and uh and as I've said um many times before um you know I appreciate what you're doing for Lyn and Macker all of you people that are involved in this project and uh and very much uh I'm sure they appreciate
