EA Sports college football 25 has been out for a few weeks now and reception has been mixed to say the very least but one thing that is for certain is that it's fun to finally be able to play a college football video game again especially with our favorite players finally being able to be compensated for their names and likenesses even if some of them don't look anything like their real life counterparts like seriously EA this is not Avery Johnson but most of us have been dumping hours into Dynasty mode one of the more fun aspects of Dynasty is the ability to build a team up from nothing into a competitor and then move them into a power conference what I was always fond of with ncaa14 was moving teams around into Regional or historical conferences that make the game way more fun for me and I know some of you feel the same way so I decided to put some of my favorite conferences from my time spent researching alternate histories into a video for you guys to come up with some fun Conference realignments of your own obviously the first of these is going to be what to do with the Pack 12 not really an alternate conference but kind of something I can being built today so obviously we start with the two pack 12 schools that currently exist Oregon State and Washington State no surprise there the next thing is going to be to steal the three schools from the ACC that don't really fit in that conference Stanford and Cal obviously a former Pack 12 members so it makes sense to add them and SMU just also doesn't really fit in the ACC and then from there you go to the Mountain West to take the most obvious members from there San Diego State obviously Boise state is probably the best football only addition you could make seeing as we already know they're not really going to add anything else other than football to the conference Colorado State UNLV and New Mexico all kind of flush out that role as well and then from there it's just schools that would be fun to add to Lane and rice obviously from the American are very talented academic schools as well as schools that can put up a very good athletic season every once in a while and then UTEP and Wyoming are both former wack conference schools and the wack was really close to being a power conference a while ago so why not add these two schools who kind of had power five status ripped away from them all in all kind of a fun league if you want to bring the Pack 12 back to its well not its full standing but at least something that makes a little bit more sense next up is the Magnolia League I know a lot of you guys wanted to make this conference let's start with just the quick and easy Heavy Hitters here SMU rice 2 Lane Duke Vanderbilt and Miami make the most sense out the gate Georgia of course is not private but does make sense to add them and then it kind of gets interesting cuz a lot of the other teams in the Magnolia League are either D3 or something else and you you really don't want to add team Builder schools to this especially if it's offline so I've added UAB for their uh very talented medical program Wake Forest since it's another smaller Southern College USF has a very solid academic standing as does TCU and James Madison honestly has a a lot better of an academic standing than I thought they did obviously there are some schools missing from this but I didn't want to include like massive schools in here um which is why there's no North Carolina there's no Virginia Florida State and Texas could also make sense here and honestly if you wanted to make the Magnolia League just trade up an Ivy League you could add K and Stanford as well next up is the airplane conference which is honestly just pack 12 but better in the west you get Washington California Stanford USC UCLA and the Air Force and in the East yeah there's an East Notre Dame pit Penn State Syracuse Army and Navy this will be one of the more interesting conferences to use uh if you want to play in this obviously you get all the militarys in one conference so Army Navy week is going to be interesting but Notre Dame's in this conference Penn State's in this conference Stanford USC UCLA Washington no Oregon though um no this is one of the weirder conference is in conference history and I think it would probably be considered a very solid power Conference next up the big 16 obviously you get the normal Big 12 you get Texas Texas A&M Texas Tech Baylor Oklahoma State Oklahoma Kansas Kansas State nebras and Missouri and Colorado and then you add the four schools that were considered for Big 12 admission if you remember back in 1996 you get Louisville Memphis BYU and New Mexico just trying to get those TV markets kind of a fun alternate history if Memphis and New Mexico became Power five members and if Louisville and BYU had been power five members for a while of course if we're going to have the big 16 we got to have the Pack 16 to get your normal Pack 12 Utah Washington Washington State Oregon Oregon State Cal Stanford USC UCLA Arizona and Arizona State then you had the five Big 12 teams that almost joined to get Texas Texas Tech Oklahoma Oklahoma State and Colorado I put Utah in here instead of Texas A&M because just felt pretty obvious that A&M was going to go to the SEC by that point but yeah if you want to make the Pack 12 about as strong as it ever could have been go ahead and make it the pack 16 next up the American or I guess in this way the big Northeast the Big East the way it could have been Boston College Yukon Syracuse Rutter Temple pit Penn State Maryland West Virginia Cincinnati Louisville and Virginia Tech this is a very interesting conference and honestly if you want you could add Army and Navy just to make it even better but obviously some of these teams are shared with the old Metro conference which was in the 80s an idea to create the first football Super conference Metro didn't have a football Branch but if it did it was going to include a north and a South it was going to be Boston College Cincinnati Pittsburgh Rutter Syracuse Temple Virginia Tech and West Virginia in the north and in the South you get East Carolina Florida State Louisville Memphis Miami South Carolina Southern Miss and Tain yeah there was a time where Southern Miss and Tain were going to be power conference members a little easier to see for temple East Carolina is an interesting one too but yeah this was this was heavily considered this was going to be the first Power conference in football and of course things went the way they did with TV contracts but yeah if you want to make an interesting one go ahead Metro conference right here replace Conference USA and have some fun and of course we get to probably my favorite of the weird conferences you get the Border conference which is uh I guess you could replace the Mountain West here Arizona Arizona state New Mexico New Mexico State Texas Tech and UTEP these are the only schools that are in the Border conference that are still in division 1 FBS today um obviously Harden Simmons is not here West Texas A&M those are smaller schools so you kind of had to fill in with a few more schools to make it like a conference worthy and so obviously I took a few schools from uh border areas like San Diego State UNLV is a little far north but it counts whole bunch of Texas schools that I feel like could also compete at the power five level UT San Antonio Houston um TCU and SMU in there just to make more sense I didn't put Texas and Texas S&M in here I could have you know if you wanted to make it like a a straight up power five conference you could uh you could add USC and UCLA Texas and A&M maybe some Oklahoma schools if you don't like the New Mexico schools and UTEP in there um just make it like a really big southern southwestern School you could do that and it would probably be one of the more interesting conferences out there lastly we're going to look at Big 12 Prime which is one of my favorite alternate histories and honestly one of the one of the more interesting ones I haven't made a video on on it yet but honestly my idea with this is you follow the big eight and add every single idea that they had in every single alternate ending that they could have had so obviously you start out with the big eight Oklahoma Oklahoma State Kansas Kansas state Missouri Iowa State Nebraska Colorado sure but then you also add some interesting schools you start with Iowa who was a member of the conference that would become the big eight from 1907 to 1911 they kind of had double duty with that conference the Missouri Valley and the Big 10 or at least the Western Conference which would become the Big 10 so the Hawkeyes are in this conference at as are the Arkansas Razorbacks who explored Big 12 admission or big eight admission from the 70s all the way through the 2010s depending on how much stock you want to put into Jerry Jones like Jerry Jones in like 2013 really wanted the Hogs to move to the Big 12 for some reason which would have been crazy because he has a huge amount of sway but they also really wanted to join the big eight from like the 1970s all the way through the late ' 80s like before the SEC was really on the table they really wanted to join the big date and uh a lot of it was hey do we kick out K State and bring in Arkansas uh K State didn't want to leave obviously so Arkansas ends up going to the SEC but have a big eight now is the Big 10 kind of a little bit with Arkansas and Iowa there and then we start moving into some of the interesting ones remember that great big video BYU gets added and honestly Utah was not anywhere near consideration to be brought up into a conference by 1996 1995 when the Big 12 was first being talked about I just have them in there for you know fun because I think it makes sense that BYU and uton Conference together that leaves us with New Mexico Louisville and Memphis from that great big old expansion moment there's one more spot to fill and honestly when I was doing research in the big eight and the schools they were considering this one kind of stuck out to me you got to remember this was a time period where TV markets meant everything and this school had just left the mac and was in the big West in hopes of making themselves look as attractive as possible specifically for the big eight and there were some conversations with them but they didn't get very far your final member of this great huge big 16 is Northern Illinois I'm not even kidding they they brought that Chicago Market the Big 12 was really interested in that Chicago Market there's a world where Northern Illinois is a power conference School in 1996 absolutely crazy there's there's an alternate universe where the big eight doesn't merge with the Southwest because they already have BYU New Mexico Louisville Memphis and Northern Illinois they don't need to they don't need to go up to to 14 or or whatever personally I'd switch NIU with Colorado State so there you have it there is my list of some fun weird conferences you can make in college football 25 tell me what fun conferences you would make in college football 25 I'm sure I missed quite a few fun ones but uh anyway hope you guys enjoyed have fun with the game despite all its bugs and I will see you guys next time
