outside this morning of the fire uh things are looking pretty good out there this is actually through waso Valley we're not really getting a look on this shot of that fire uh but they do say that if you see any kind of pockets of smoke that's because there are Pockets within the fire line right now that there's still plenty of fuel to burn so this is still going to be a very active fire for several days but they are now really optimistic about whether or not that fire is going to actually grow yeah that's great information because driving by saw less smoke so okay everything's under control but obviously still a long way to go Colin Jackson filling in for Lindsay and how are things looking today we are cooler than we have been for quite some time in the morning we dropped down to 49 last hour and now we have gone up one degree we now sit at 50° and we do not see any flames in that shot there that's good news winds are West at five and we will not have much win today at all kind of a northeasterly shift at around 5 to 10 it is at the freezing point in State Line 32 last hour it was 31 how's trucky doing at 32 as well 49 Fernley 44 Carson City and a 50 coming out of weather segment that's coming up guys back to you let's take a look at your traffic as you out the door this morning a live look right now 580 at Galina Forest Bridge just a lovely shot here this morning as we are waking up just keep in mind the Mount Rose highway is still closed up to Thomas Creek due to the fire effort so here's a look at your map of where that extended closure is this is going all the way into Incline Village so unfortunately you're going to have to find another way to get up to Tahoe this weekend if you really want to do so that's going to be through your 80 and Carson City areas coming in from the north things are looking pretty good this morning with no incidents to reports so overall if you're heading off to work this morning you are set on time maybe possibly stop for a cup of coffee visisted to USA Parkway is 11 minutes trucky Mets Water Authority is asking some people to suspend your outdoor watering specifically those in the southwest Reno area near the fire this is all going to ensure that fire Crews have enough resources tomwa has been running on backup generators due to the power cuts and it just wants to make sure that there's reliable Water For Crews so if you live in that area you're asked to also minimize your indoor water use and completely stop outdoor irrigation this is in effect until further notice if you do have to evacuate don't leave your sprinkler system on around 2,300 people are still without power here in wo County due to nvy Energy's power Cuts that's now 5 days people have been without power around the Davis fire no additional outages were made yesterday and nvy energy says when conditions allow they'll start assessing damage and make plans to restore power for those still dealing with the outages despite good news from yesterday fire officials say this is still very active fire there remains potential for growth for that reason all existing evacuation orders and warnings will stand until further notice it's going to include warnings for or orders for people in the communities of St James montro Galina and arrow Creek even warnings for the Huffer area if you are evacuated needed to place to go the Red Cross emergency shelter is now located at the Neil Road recreation center they're offering food and water and a cool place to stay overnight with access to bathrooms and power Red Cross says the move here here enables them to serve more people this is also a space I want to encourage that if you find there is a gap or something we may not be serving please come in and share that with us we're only we can only serve the community in the ways that we know you guys need help the shelter can accommodate small animals and this is a list of items they recommend you bring with you however they say if you had to leave quickly they'll help you gather those supplies when it comes to evacuations remember the five PS of prepared people pets prescription personal and Priceless items and important papers also bring anything with you that you will need for at least 3 days is advised that you take an inventory of your home as well video is best you want to show what's inside important drawers get documents and also important items that you can't bring with you that's going to include things like appliances furniture and other personal items Left Behind like jewelry or art of course firefighters are risking their lives working really hard on this Davis fire as they try to save people's homes Co Emily Bonito talked to one local couple who was able to thank the crew that saved their home thanks to a chance encounter we I was actually out on a motorcycle ride on Saturday my wife was home and I got this phone call from her on the motorcycle and said hey we need to be evacuated come home quick so we got home and didn't have much time to evacuate but we got the dogs out of there and we came out with an RV and when we left there was a big smoke plume right behind our house I mean we lived just a couple of miles from Davis Creek Park so there wasn't a lot of warning time and we take those evacuation orders seriously that night they camped out in their RV that they usually get to use for more fun adventures and as they left the restaurant after eating dinner they saw some trucky Meadows firefighters who looked like they needed some help after a long day of saving everyone else and as we were leaving the restaurant here uh we saw a firet truck pull up with three very tired looking firefighters and so they decided to buy their dinner for them and say thank you I were very gracious and said no no no you do not need to do that that's totally not required we're just doing our job so I pulled out a photo from my phone showing my house and area is burnt literally right up to the edge of my house and I showed it to him and said no I really need do need to I do need to do this for you guys you guys save my house and he looked at the photo and they looked at each other and said you're a pilot aren't you and I said yeah but how could you possibly know that because I thought these were just three random firefighters and they said while we were fighting the fire at your house we looked through the window and saw all your pilot stuff there McCormack says that without that crew being staged at his house they wouldn't have had a home to go back to and he stresses that when First Responders ask you to evacuate that you follow their advice just a big overall thanks to everybody involved in helping fight this fire the sheriff the police uh trucky Meadows fire all the other five people who come into town the National Guard I mean everybody's been great everyone we bumped into have been so nice uh so accommodating it's inconvenient to not be allowed back into your house but it's safe
