college football the SEC and even Old Miss as well so check it out a big game an absolutely massive game it was one of those games that I had no idea was coming now Ferman is Ferman Ferman is an FCS team and om Miss has played a lot of FCS teams they have never in their history done to an FCS team what they did tonight it was Jackson Dart quarterbacking the best first half inz history it was a defense that at one pointz had more passing touchdowns than they gave up first downs it was a defense that got off the field on third down everything was checked and I was worried going into this game that maybe just maybe this Kinder gentler fall Camp was going to cause Miss to be a little bit sloppy or the Kinder gentler spring practice was going to cause Miss to be sloppy but that wasn't the case that wasn't the case at all this was a sharp team this was a team that offensively performed at a level greater than I have seen in my time as an Old Miss fan now granted it was just Ferman but the purpose of this game was not just to beat Ferman it was to get ready for the playoff and the quicker Old Miss hit the S the sloppy and got that out of their system the better off they were going to be the better they can be against Georgia was how they handled the sloppiness now and this was not a sloppy team operationally they did everything that you would expect them to do and I am really excited about what could happen in the next game against Middle Tennessee State and the road against Wake Forest I think offensively this is this is a special special unit now if you want to look at these stats real quick um om Miss had a pretty good a pretty good let me make that a little bit bigger um game against Ferman you could say they had 529 yards passing um just kind of scroll that up a little bit so everybody can see it Jackson Dart was 22 of 27 418 yards and five touchdowns in the first half it was a game to where if Jackson Dart played the whole game scores over a 100 points even if Ferman was trying even ifz was really half-heartedly not trying they were going to score over a hundred points and don't worry in the chat um we are going to get to you in just a second we're going to talk about this right now rushing I want I said I wanted to see ol Miss football run for 250 yards they ran for 243 and a lot of that from Matt Jones he had two really big touchdown runs ran three times for 68 yards Dominique Thomas at the end when Miss was running the ball to run out the clock six carries for 53 yards Henry Paris Jr was the starter in this game to the point where in the fourth quarter Ulisses Bentley played some Jackson Dart scored as well and JJ pgee as well he was JJ PES as well um Trey Harris eight catches 179 yards and two touchdowns he is the bent theof winner in my opinion I don't know how anybody could be better Kaden Lee had a good day as well four catches 78 yards Kaden prorn had three catches for 77 and a touchdown juice Wells his first ever catch for the Miss Rebels was a touchdown he had two catches 70 yards the real white played kind of a big role in the second half of this game good for him he looks like he has a very bright future ahead of him Aiden Williams I noticed him a couple of times as well and if you look defensively Chris Pall he really showed up in the second half of the game he played angry it was almost at the point where he had anger that he wasn't in the starters and got to sit out in the F second half like everybody else and in the second half he did work Jarius Brown did work cam Franklin was the second leading tackler in the game had one and a half sacks three tackles for loss big cam for from Lake corant with jar Kobe Hopson in the stands and DD Daniels and those guys congratulations there JJ Pages was fourth on the team in tackles with four William Eckles had four tackles with a half tackle for loss Lewis Moore um had one and a half tackles for loss four tackles overall Chris Hardy had a sack and a half and that led to one and a half sacks overall aell Stone had a half sack Walter Nolan a a tackle for loss jayen Ked one and a half tackles for loss Richard o'bryen it it was a it was a a washing and Trey Amos at the beginning when this game was still very very tight tightly contested he showed that he had the potential to be a shutdown corner now if you look at old Miss's these stats are just ridiculous everybody th this is just ridiculous and if you're an old Miss fan at least my age and probably under the age of 65 there's not games like this that you can remember that was this one-sided this was more one-sided than Arkansas's game against Arkansas Pine Bluff and everybody might remember me doing a YouTube short talking about how that was a problem um but had 37 first downs 772 yards 529 through the air 243 on the ground they gave up eight first downs 172 total yards with 146 through the a 26 on the ground and I guarantee you this they had 20 yards rushing on like the last two plays of the ball game they had 10 penalties for 84 yards they had 30 rushing attempts they averaged 0.9 yards per rush it was fantastic almost ran the ball 37 times and threw the ball 45 times I think that's an important data point to remember as this season goes on om Miss um lost the time of possession 2 minutes and 10 seconds to 30 minutes and 50 seconds as well so it's really interesting to see the way that football performed in this game this was above mine like I said I my prediction I predicted 45 to 10 like a typical I figured thatas might have a little sloppiness the expectations could get to them and what I saw was a team so hyperfocused it honestly reminded me of that 2019 LSU team that was so locked into to what they were doing and when you look at what that team was able to accomplish that was the last time that somebody threw for over 350 yards and a half that was Joe burrow Jackson Dart threw for 420 yards and a half and five touchdowns against competition it was one not right routes on air this was a big night for football in the offense and this offense has a chance to be just absolutely dangerous moving forward I like the fact that Henry parish is starting at running back I would like to see them run the ball a little bit better and depending on the opponent they will because Lane kein always runs the ball as as just what he does and there's so many players kind of in the tool chest for Lane kein Lane kein that he's going to be able to run the football I'm very jacked up whenever you look at the stats in this game and what was able to happen it's hard to not be jacked up um for where what om Miss did tonight even if it was against the NCS opponent this wasn't Auburn playing Alabama A&M this was not Arkansas playing Arkansas playing buff Bluff this was not Missouri playing Murray State those are different tiered FCS opponents that almost did this was a Ferman team that won double digit games backtack years they were an FCS playoff team that won a game in the playoffs a year ago this is a very well- coached team and they looked bad really bad now I can say this and I'm dead serious about this the FBS school should quit scheduling in the regular season FCS opponents period these have to stop if you want to be charitable to where you fund these athletic programs and do all that don't do the rental wins bring them in for the spring game that's what you do bring them in for the end of the spring play a football game against these FCS opponents and give them their money they're $300 to $500,000 sell tickets for it you can probably get tickets for your collective in the stadium in the spring and you don't have to have games like this at the beginning of the season but I am impressed with how on point om's football was tonight they were they were locked in and ready to go against an opponent they had no business being locked in and ready to go against I mean it's just it's just is what it is it is what it is so we'll see exactly won 10 games last year they did they did um you're going to have people talk about hey Miss played the weak Sisters of the Poor and all of that they're going to play that game they're going to try and little south Mississippi in the house uh Mark wal a little worried about our running backs nobody impressed me who's R rb1 Bentley rb1 is um Henry Paris Jr but honestly I think we need to look at the Run pass splits this team was 56% pass to run um which is something that Elaine kein coach team has not done and I think that speaks to how dominant our wide receiver group is and how good Jackson Dart is going to be because he was absolutely phenomenal tonight it was the greatest quarterback competition our greatest quarterback performance I should say in 's history period Barone U Michael Roberts yeah it was really fun to watch it was insane to watch our defense play it it was nuts it was nuts Luke Shaw says praise the Lord yeah it was that was the game honestly if you've been an Miss fan as long as I've been an Miss fan that was the game that you have been waiting for the whole time you've been a fan and it it doesn't matter about the opponent just the way the game went I'm talking about that um so we'll see exactly how that goes Willis says defense lived up to the hype and then some man when the defense knew you were were going to run the ball you didn't make back to the line of scrimmage it it was nuts Brian Wesley says Mark Walsh they didn't plan on a heavy Run game I'm sure that will be coming um teimo says made a statement made a real statement to the point where I don't know many teams that played better in week one in the Southeastern Conference and there was a lot of blowouts that happened in the Southeastern Conference and I got the quad box on the New Mexico Arizona Game and they just just crazy freaky catch by no New Mexico nuts U Michael Robert said I thought Matt Jones ran the ball pretty well they in the second half whenever it was just time to run the football they ran the ball that's the reason they got up 243 yards I think thought Dominic Thomas did pretty well as well um Mr Tapout says they scored more points than any other SEC defense to complement a killer offense absolutely nuts I'm I'm so fired up about what I tonight even though it was an FCS opponent and with Middle Tennessee coming up you're going to be able to see if you can stack it on that but I see nothing that nothing that should concern me moving to the immediate future nowz has to show maturity and keep this Lo locked in that they have their Pro mindset in for the next game and the next game to where it's almost robotic to where it just happens if they can do that they will be all right Luke Shaw they did exactly what I wanted on offense dot them up get up big put the backups in low injury risk yeah and how about Austin Simmons winning the backup job and not just winning the backup job let's be real about this he got a quarter and a half worth of reps which means he was clearly the number two wide receiver and that matches up what I heard after the mock game and why that at that point I kind of knew that Austin was going to be the number two quarterback even though there wasn't a depth chart but I was kind of Sworn to Silence um It's a situation good for Austin I think he's going to be a really good quarterback but that was his first game there was nerves all of that he th he was throwing the ball at about 700 RPMs more than um he normally would probably so when he calms down I'm sure he will be fine as well the dline was absolutely dominant even the third string yeah cam Franklin and Chris Hardy was just absolutely owning furman's offensive line folks the rebels are for real absolutely you know I wanted to see a little more out of Walker Howard I think Walker Howard honestly got clearly beat out for second string now everybody's going to say what does that mean for the transfer portal moving forward with Walker Howard that's going to be a question that's probably already in the chat I just haven't gotten to it and I I just don't know if it matters because if Austin clearly won the job I mean it it just kind of is what it is at that point right so we'll see exactly how it goes the scar Warrior says hottie totty Jay Canon says Trey Harris will be a beast again this year Lumberton Mississippi uh very re reminisce of the 2019 LSU with even a better defense significantly yeah it it was the first half was scary efficient offensively to the point where they could do whatever they wanted to Brent will says that was just an ass whooping no need to overanalyze they were over match if we stay healthy and improve every week the um sky is the limit yeah it's no reason that you cannot have expectations of a national title for this team it is just the way this is same James but I think we saw why Austin is the backup very very good quarterback aec p2l this team is different yes that that the focus in this team reminds is very reminiscent if Jackson Dart pulling basically what Joe burrow did in 2019 at LSU and the offense performed at that level and uh if they keep that up the offense is going to be a good enough to win just about every game on the schedule and then you have a defense that might be one of the better ones in the country as well it's nuts Michael Roberts yeah I was hoping to see some more from Walker Howard too but I was still happy with Austin Simmons definitely praying to stay healthy I think the the one thing that got everybody scared was when Trey Harris went down but Trey Harris came back in and was functional so that was good news so it appears that we made it out of that game we'll find up out after the interviews and everything what happens but you know how this staff is with injuries we just we just don't know juice Wells he played a good bit Jordan Watkins didn't dress you know so we'll see how it goes I felt really bad for Ferman in the second quarter Michael Roberts I cannot lie yeah that is absolutely correct I felt bad the last time I felt this bad was probably the Mississippi State game in 2008 but that was just for the quarterbacks um R Roy LaBella fends up L shark muddy redneck the Miss offensive line and defensive line looked incredible I've never seen anything like it in all my years being a fan is fantastic now remember in that situation they are that's where the overmatching really stands out on the lines so you're going to see the offensive line have to strain a little bit as Middle Tennessee happens as Wake Forest happens as Georgia Southern happens and then as Kentucky happens so we'll see how it goes um Matthew Mitchell they're going to have to start doubling JoJo like you said they'll have to J Double JJ and Walter and leave an end oneon-one with a running back or a tight end yeah this is something that I talked about for the last six seven eight months if the defensive line the interior defensive line can force double teams to take up four of their offensive linemen to block them that's going to make Prince Ley and Mell and that's going to make Jared Ivy and Jared Ivy and Saran Perkins that is the two that are going it's not Prince leam man Mellen um he's with Chris Hardy Santan Perkins is with Jared Ivy and Jared Ivy as we saw whenever they wanted to go P Rush um moved interior and then Santan Perkins lined up at the defensive end that's that's how they use them in this game so I thought that was a pretty interesting setup by the defense I thought Pete Golding um had a pretty slam dunk day in the Press Box his first time I think TJ doter at middle linebacker with his technology Communications he had a pretty good game as well I think it was a situation where Charlie Weiss and everybody they had it going listen Lang kein said whenever this technology happened that oh it was a cheat code he said it was and in the first half it looked like a cheat code there were wide receivers running wide open it's almost like before they snapped the ball there was an idea of what coverage was and that was probably due to the technology in the year and Jackson Dart being a third-year starting quarterback so I'm pretty fired up about that Brian reev says solid perform performance hotti totty scar Warrior Old Miss looked sound all the way around I was very very impressed no I don't think playing real football for a spring game is a good idea for injury reports um well as long as it's not a conference game you don't have to do an injury report and um it's better than the situation they have now is better than this because you can have an injury now in this game and you're definitely going to be out next week if you have an injury in the spring spring game you're going to be all right and tackling and all that will be a little bit different because they can control it a little bit um did anybody see South Carolina in Old Dominion I saw South Carolina won the game but barely um Luke Shaw says really really a lot of running was at the very end of run the clock out very throw heavy early which I was pleased to see because of injury and wearing tear risks are greatly reduced when throwing the football Mr Tapout says the dline is so talented and deep every game someone will be in the back field eating every game yeah you're not lying you're you're pretty much telling the truth there um dart's only bad throw was to Micah Davis and I think that was a situation where Micah Davis got into camp so late he doesn't have the chemistry that the other receivers have because Austin Simmons had the same problem with Micah Davis there there was a problem with getting him on the right page and I think he's going to get on the right page as the number of reps increase but in this game it was difficult for him um yes I'm Josh number one Walter Nolan is a grown man two yes it was Ferman Matt Jones had some nice runs Vision on his last TD runs three that was one impressive beer snake that was absolutely nuts and it was kind of funny any injuries tonight I didn't see anything I didn't notice it but maybe something will come out that we don't know about over the next couple of days but I think they came out of that relatively healthy Dart not even preseason all SEC just jawdropping yes he's that that guy could win the Heisman could also Notre Dame just scored it looks like they just scored a touchdown to go up 20- 13 um also kuy's up 10 to nothing on Southern Miss as well they finally started in that one um a p2l I can't stress this enough this is the Year miss has gone all in and we as the fans have to go all in as well show out like never before hey the fans did a fantastic job tonight to be firman even though this season as anticipated as we we all think it is crowd was fine now at the end of the game in the third and fourth quarter the crowd kind of pieced out a little bit um but it was 52 to nothing at halftime I mean you can't expect that to remain it it was it was not a competitive football game from the beginning it's like what Pete said on the first episode of the season they aren't concerned with playing a certain amount of plays or do and this game gets weird the defense is the reason that that happens this game there was no chance in this game because the offense for fman could never get going there was three big plays three big plays you take away those three big plays Ferman had about 60 yards of offense pretty interesting stuff Jamie Meredith hey Jamie my brother said this was a clean dominant game we are as adverti speed everywhere even two and 3D didn't I say on air 80 to nothing over fman you know hey you did my prediction was dead wrong I thought that some sloppiness would happen due to the expectations and and honestly I out thought myself I I wanted to be the smartest person in the room and I I was trying to think of problems and things that could go wrong and that was on me Kentucky just scored again on Southern Mississippi as well um trace bukin says man Jackson Dart showed out our potential is unmatched yeah he he he is really really on his way to being the number one quarterback in the history of Old Miss and looks like Notre Dame is going to beat Texas A&M as well Jeff and Cory from aen South Carolina this is um hoppy Langley's Brothers I do believe brother and um nephew from Akin South Carolina we looked good tonight and Chris Paul Jr really showed out yeah he played angry Chris played angry tonight because he was still trying to have to play football in the fourth quarter Mikey hunter from Tupelo Mississippi real estate Amos is the real deal at corner yeah he look different the way he fought oh my yeah that was fantastic Brian Wesley saysi would like to see better opponents and for non-conference games scheduling and winning bigger non-conference Games should be the next steps in the program's progression yeah I think it's the situation though this FCS game is not going anywhere I think it's going to be a power five like the Wake Forest game and then either the the game that gets thrown out will be either the Georgia Southern game or the Middle Tennessee game and then they're going to add a ninth conference game I think they basically said that they were going to do that Trey Amos is the real deal Titans Mafia like potential first or second round NFL Talent yeah he his hand he was so active at cornerback it was it was just not fair um at times and a lot of that has to do with the fact that om Miss was playing an FCS te over under 28 points scored on defense before we go to Death Valley o I think under but I do think two game I think the defense is going to score two touchdowns before Miss gets to Death Valley I do think that let's see how about that 36 yard out pit for the old Q up at Ohio State just proofed that lane system will make you look better than you are yeah it was one of those situations that where you look at what he was as a freshman where he ran for 1600 yards and he was genuinely a good running back no nobody nobody can argue that but the next year he averaged 4.3 yards per carry and he played nil games and did things that were locker room cancery to where he was just not worth it so the best twoing for going up there Mike big says the ESPN answers talked about how there are four Elite teams and then a lot of good ones with the Gap really large between those two group and seem to apply that Miss was not Elite I think they were saying that om Miss is not Georgia or Ohio State as far as the talent and when if you look at the Blue Chip ratio you know you know how much I hate the Blue Chip ratio in the age of the transfer portal like Alabama they have like 75 or 80% four and five star players on their roster I think that's what they mean they're they're obsessed with um recruiting rankings and things like that but Georgia yeah Georgia is they basically a AAA football team at this point Jamie Merida says listening to their coach they returned almost everyone from a team that put up 21 on South Carolina a year ago and only allowed 47 this year not hor not a horrible Ferman team we are a complete team Roy leella sadly the stadium cleared out way too soon this was Total Domination of a good FCS team I wish them well I'm glad Dart spread it around and I'm impressed with the backups as well tonight yeah complete allaround game I I was very very fired up about what could happen here in about 10 minutes I'm going to have to um cut this off so if I don't get to all the um comments I do apologize for that um Luke Shaw we didn't catch a few difficult picks hopefully we make some of those catches later in the games and princ Ley didn't get any sacks which was surprising but princ Ley was a menace and he got like two or three false starts in that game uh Boise State's running back scored six times against Georgia Southern keep that in mind in a few weeks yeah Georgia Southern also at one point in the fourth quarter I think was in ahead in that game so kind of a six a dozen half a dozen of another type situation I think they were referring last year's teams um where I live in Smyrna Tennessee did not have the game saw some highlights onas football Twitter hopefully Miss can play this way all year and make the playoffs hey you're in Smyrna Tennessee I moved down here from Smyrna Tennessee um pretty awesome fans need to stay the whole game I'm not going to get on the fans at all for leaving early in a 52 to nothing game I'm I'm not it's one of those situations this wasn't a tight game this it's yeah it's it's just not going to happen especially when it's a night game and things like that um they're they're being asked to toach so much of the male they can kind of do what they want to do they've paid for the right to leave early if you know what I mean Uncle Buck says Austin Simmons looked like a Vic and Tua combined and damn good he's 6 foot5 220 pounds listen after the mock game I had an idea of how this backup quarterback race was going um multiple people reached out to me and let me know what was going on and I knew that Austin Simmons was the clear number two now there's certain people that that for whatever reason pissed off certain people were upset by that but Austin Simmons I think he was very jacked up his first pass in an Old Miss uniform a nice long touchdown pass to Kaden Lee and that was fantastic but I do think the nerves were a little bit high for Austin and the and the sky the limit for that guy the sky the limit and I I'm so so happy for him because if you don't know Austin Simmons was actually the player that was probably somewhat at least disappointed in the Grove bowl games because he wanted to play real football to kind of let theas fans see exactly what he had was it it's cool he wanted to announce to theas fan base exactly what he has and what what was coming he has much confidence in what was going on and he wanted to play real football so I know tonight his nerve he he the nerves were there in his first pass though going for a touchdown that was pretty awesome um Jake Mitchell Matt Jones might be the best running back in our room um I think a lot of that has to do with the when he um had the carries Tex Arana prepper um great game Old Miss wanted to see art Walker Howard throw a little bit uh Jake Mitchell did kein tell us tonight that K Simmons is number two yes I believe so um Stanley Canon Miss is legit I was impressed by the defensive line they're full of depth all over in general imagine Deion Smith on this team we truly would be unstoppable now you know why they put so much effort into trying to get him honestly Michael Davis did look really good Fielding punts yes he did a really fantastic job doing that and gave me confidence going into the season as it get gets realer um where was Ivy and Perkins tonight where they getting double teams no it's just one of those situations to where it just didn't work out for him a lot of their stuff and the schemes of the defense were designed to help Prince Ley and Mell and and Walter Nolan and maybe they were pinching in we don't know exactly what the calls were but I think the defense played pretty well um and I thought Jared Ivy and Saran Perkins played pretty well as well that beer cup Snape was crazy that scar Warrior um Jake Mitchell from South Haven Mississippi how would you grade the o line I I think it was a solid B+ there was a couple of times whenever Ferman was able to overpopulate the Box a little bit to where Jackson Dart had to get rid of the ball and they were able to affect the passer um but I don't know if that was on the offensive line um aec p2l great time to be an almost Miss rebel fan happy for the fans that have been a fan as long as you have Stephen yes I'm very happy this is everybody you know the wait to next year fans next year's here that that's I think what we have right now how long before Billy Napier is an Old Miss analyst from Amy Mississippi that's yes I'm joshh yeah that's probably pretty close because he has a Sabin background as well I think um I think Jake Wimberly on Twitter he's from um he's a Mississippi State fan but he has a radio show around Jackson that he thinks Billy Napier is going to be the coach next year of Southern Mississippi and I kind of like that as well I think G5 see exactly how that happens as well Oregon struggled versus ID Run game seemed to struggle in the first half any concerns um they were throwing the ball so much I I I don't know that there was concerns I I think they were 55% pass and Jackson Dart just was so explosive in the first half we kind of have to see a larger sample size in the season as this goes I know that Henry parish is going to be fine ulys Bley is going to be fine um Rashad as being behind Matt Jones if you know you want to talk about Austin Simmons you know Matt Jones is the third running back right now on this roster so we'll see exactly how it goes and TR bu buffkin says Oregon struggled mightily against Idaho the vandals so we'll see exactly how that goes anyway we're going to get out of here I stayed a little
