joins us uh not from his normal spot in Texas um but uh but indoors nevertheless beating the heat beating the uh the humidity Chase how are you man how was your July 4th July 4th was really good it's been a very very busy week and really a busy week and a half um everything on the ners front with the latest with brand and iuk then you had the NBA draft as I also talk NBA at chat sports and then that went right into NBA free agency I covered the Sixers cover the Warriors as well as the entire NBA so I did a 10-hour live stream on Sunday going into Monday waiting for Paul George to sign he signed and then there's been a lot of action on the Warriors front so for the Bay Area people I host Golden State Warriors today check that channel out it's popping right now and Fourth of July was good got to see some fireworks eat some good food at a friend's house kind of in the middle of nowhere in Texas and then this morning hopped on a flight woke up at about 5:00 a.m. and now I'm in the Sarasota area ready to talk some Niners so let's do it yeah but before we talk Niners since you did do some you do Warrior stuff what have you thought of the Warriors few days here before we dive in on the ners this is we took kind of a brief respit from Niners ners ners to pay attention to the draft and a little bit to free agency and Klay Thompson's Gone Chris Paul's gone DeAnthony Melton is the newest Warrior Kyle Anderson's the newest Warrior actually the newest of new Warriors is Buddy hee um I I kind of think they are net neutral um but if they can get a Lori Markin in maybe they'll be back in the title Chase or at least a you know a top tier playoff team chase at that point but to me they've moved some pieces around but I don't see uh this is being an appreciably better basketball team as they currently are uh as they're currently constituted yeah a few days ago I called out Mike Dunley V Jr and I said what has happened to the once great Golden State Warriors I understand why they don't want to go into that second apron if you do it puts a lot of restrictions on your team as far as the moves that you can make in free agency via trades and the draft and if you go into that second apron you have to be absolutely sure that you love your roster Golden State doesn't have a roster that they love but still I wanted to see them be a little bit more aggressive so I talked about that on the show and then Mike Dunley Dunley Jr able to make a couple of moves bringing in Kyle Anderson he's a really smart player I'm just not sure where he fits because how do him and Draymond Green share the floor together I'm not sure how they can because they're both fors who can't really shoot I like DeAnthony Melton especially with the price that you get him at he is coming off the back injury but he can shoot the three create a little bit and handle and he's also a spectac Defender and that's what the Warriors need in a loaded Western Conference and then with the Buddy hee move it's a sign in trade you give up a second round pick in 2031 to the Sixers as part of that and it becomes a five team trade which includes the Klay Thompson signing trade to Dallas him and Steph Curry have hit the most threes in the NBA over the last five years so if you lose Klay Thompson you needed to replace that three-point shooting you do that with buddy heeld I think that he can give the Warriors a little bit more off the bounce as compared to Clay because his creational ability isn't great but it's a little bit better than clay who really just hovered around the three-point Arc I know that Klay isn't the defender that he once was but buddy heeld is not a good Defender at all so I think you lose something there really what I took issue with was you trade clay you get two second rounders back and then you trade Jordan pool for Chris Paul and then you just outright release Chris Paul without getting anything back so to me I look at that as a series of mysterious moves by mug dun leevy Jr I'm not sure that he was handed the greatest cards once Bob Meyers left if they can pull off a Lori Markin and trade and there's been a lot of traction there I would like the fit he's a really good player then that would kind of change my tune on the Warriors but when you look at the western conference right now I just don't see Golden State as like a top six team I I don't either Invader 49ers says blah blah blah come on get to the ners cut to the ners um Invader Larry's starting to worry me this Obsession he has with the warriors on Niner shows now it's you know we gotta throw it's the KR show it's the Krug show and also um you know I'm a warrior fan I'm a giant fan I do talk mostly Niners because I know you guys care more about the Niners but if the giants made a big trade right now I would ask Chase about it and if the Warriors made a big trade right now I would ask Chase about it and that and then also out of respect for chase that he's doing Warrior content I want to you know uh let him you know attract some some people to his Warrior Channel inv Vader by asking him some Warrior questions but I hear you let's talk Niners um all right we jump to the 49ers what where are we on the iuk thing I mean it's like it was really weird it was like he was coming in to meet the first of all he referenced on the pivot pod that he was going to have one more meeting with the ners then before and if it didn't go well then maybe wants to play with Jaden Daniels in Washington but then supposedly he had that meeting and it did go well and then two days later we get video IG live he's rolling into the parking lot open these damn Gates and I thought okay makes sense they met with him they probably ironed out some details here he is a couple days later they had their lawyers draw up the contracts and he's GNA sign but then he doesn't sign and then the latest report is that they're no closer uh um where where what's your belief on this is your because we don't have sources we're just kind of left to our own our own belief system here do you believe that all the heavy lifting is really done and it's just about crossing the te's and dotting the eyes and this guy is going to be signed sealed and delivered and there on the first day of camp or is this starting to get in the worrisome category um there's a number of unres unresolved wide receiver situations around the NFL Amari Cooper with the Browns T Higgins with the Bengals Tyreek Hill wants a new deal in Miami cidi lamb there's trade rumors that uh CD lamb could be leaving Dallas same thing in Denver with courland Sutton are we are we not seeing this wide receiver Market um as what it is you know it seems like there's a lot of teams and a lot of star receivers chase that are having a hard time getting on the right on the same page financially what do you where do you think the iuk thing stands I think that this is the fourth obviously off season in which we've had to deal with this in waiting for the Niners to sign one of their homegrown players to a contract extension it first started with George KD in 2020 Fred Warner the year after that Debo Samuel in 2022 and then Nick Bosa last year now the current iteration is Brandon iuk now and for as much as we've been asking the ners to maybe change their business Philosophy for when they hand out these contract extensions because it's been proven that by waiting sometimes you risk the market place going up which then in turn leads to you paying more for your own players and having to maybe overpay I don't think the Niners are going to change their strategy because there's a proven track record of them taking care of their own players them valuing the players that they draft groom and develop and then taking care of their own to the point where they don't do it early in the off season instead they like to wait and for KD Warner Debo Bosa all of those deals happened at the end of July when training camp was about to get underway or in August and then in the case of Nick Bosa in September and the reason that that took so long was because of the bag that Nick Bosa got highest paid non-quarterback in the history of football and there was so much to iron out there so with a couple of weeks left to go until the Niners report the training camp on July 23rd there's ample time to get a deal done but also at this point I don't think a deal does get done until it fits the ners timeline here and I'm not sure what the thought process is there behind waiting to get these deals done maybe they look at it and oversee everything and they have some conversations and they come to the conclusion hey let's wait for some things to die down a little bit because during the summer when there's a lot of drama and a lot of speculation emotions can run High let's just wait until training camp comes around when everybody's focusing on football and we'll wait for those emotions to die down to try to strike a deal now you're so right about the wide receiver market and it's pretty wild how much it has changed just in the course of this off season and how many wide receivers have gotten paid from the likes of Nico Collins who's making 24 and a quarter per year all the way to Justin Jefferson who's making $35 million per year and as part of that with all of these wide receivers getting paid not only has the market shifted but our teams starting to think about the wide receiver position a little bit differently where they look at the college ranks and they look at these draft classes and they Gathering data and they're seeing that all of these young players who get drafted are able to contribute year one year two and become really good players throughout the duration of their entire rookie deal whether that be four or five years and our team's going to Pivot that strategy and maybe decide to draft wide receivers as compared to retaining them because the cost net is so drastic there in which you're saving so much money if you're just Drafting and developing these wide receivers so I think there's all of those things that are going into this but it's yet another offseason in which you and I all fans were waiting waiting and waiting to see when a ners homegrown player gets a contract extension well I'm kind of waiting to see how this is coming to an end ahead if if it's true what iuk told us in that pivot podcast which was that his last conversation with the ners was hey we're not on the same page and we don't think we're gonna get on the same page with you well it's almost like they're saying you know we're on the verge of of trading you and then you gotta think that iuk said hey I got one more meeting with the Niners if it goes well you know we'll get a deal done if it doesn't go well you might see me in in DC um you know maybe iuk could get frustrated TR with them and and demand a trade um for a piece that was published yesterday um on the 33rd team are you familiar with Marcus moer I am not no but I know the 33rd team and they're pretty credible that's a pretty incredible I mean I believe Ari myov works for them um and they've got some NFL Scouts and different Personnel people I saw Joe Banner was on there a few years ago he or a few months ago he had a quote about KY Shanahan and I that was really interesting I think we played it in one of our streams but for a piece that was published for yesterday's uh 33rd team he named Marcus moer who's a writer NFL writer named the Steelers as probably the most likely team to land Brandon iuk in a potential trade we saw auk walking through the airport and they said you are you gonna be a Niner or I don't know how the question was phrased exactly but he made it seem like yeah I want to be a Niner um so I think a lot of people are like oh well he's not going to be traded and the latest is that it seems like they're that he's not going to be traded um but what do you think I mean what and and the 33rd team says the Steelers traded away Deontay Johnson uh they drafted Roman Wilson out of Michigan in the third round but he's more of a slot receiver than an X who can creat separation against man coverage and he lists you know the Jets and the commanders and Denver and a couple other teams uh but he says the Steelers are the team most likely to trade for Brandon iuk auk did wear a Pittsburgh pirate hat uh on that IG live when he was rolling in but I don't know these days is he wearing it to match uh the colors of what other things he was wearing or was he actually trying to troll uh the Niners fans or Steeler fans or pirate fans what do you what do you think about um you know the where the TR the idea of of trading iuk um where do you think that is you think the Niners are open to it against it you think he's open to against it his mom's a Niner fan that's for sure it was funny because you're referencing the TMZ video where auk is walking out of the airport it looks as though he's going to get a car he just got off a flight and what a world to live in where you're at the airport and TMZ just rolls up Paparazzi style they start asking you questions I actually thought aayu handled it pretty well he even said during the pivot podcast I kind of like the attention that I've been getting this offseason I have my girl recording everything me and documentary or whatever yeah we're together we're gonna be able to put together some digital content obviously these athletes nowadays are taking advantage of these digital mediums because they understand it can help with marketability and profit too because you can make a lot of money via digital platforms on YouTube but the TMZ guy was like you were wearing a Pittsburgh Steelers hat and iuk was like no I wasn't I was wearing a Pittsburgh Pirates hat they reached out to me on Instagram and asked if I wanted a pirates hat I did think that that was a little bit interesting like is that the Pittsburgh Pirates trying to say Brandon auk we love you here in Pittsburgh here's a pirates hat I do think the Pirates at is is a fresh one reminds me of Roberto Clemente and those fresh uniforms that they have but um look you know going back to what you also said I just kind of crack up at some of the Antics this offseason and auk has the right to be frustrated right he hasn't landed the deal there are other wide receivers who have gotten paid he has not yet gotten the bag and he's also probably looking at these other players who have gotten money who are lesser wide receivers than him he's saying I'm an all pro they're not all Pros yet they're still getting paid and there are players on the ners team who are getting new contracts and guaranteed money like Christian mcaffrey and Jawan Jennings and aayu probably looks at that saying where's my money I mean you want to throw Bay Area tie in there that's part of the reason why Klay Thompson was so bitter with the Golden State Warriors he saw Andrew Wiggins Jordan pul Draymond Green get paid and he's like well hold on I've been one of the best two-way players in the NBA a five-time Allstar for NBA championships I came back from a torn Achilles and torn ACL to win a title I played lockdown defense on some of the best wings and some of the biggest moments in the Western Conference playoffs and in the NBA Finals where's my new contract so I could see where auk is coming from there but also at the same time yeah he might be frustrated he has caused so much of this drama to transpire this offseason he has taken the social media Playbook of what is required for a contract negotiation where you make noise on social media you get fans to talk about it you try to put pressure on the organization you try to get leverage on your side then the media talks about you all the time you stay in the news and you continue to be a subject matter for Talking Heads like you and I and others fans and then you stay in the news cycle because you're thinking hey people keep talking about me maybe that leads to a deal so it's kind of a two-way street the Niners should have paid them earlier auk even said if they paid me earlier then they could have gotten me for cheaper iuk said on the pivot that we were so close to a deal that I called Ryan Williams and told him get a suit ready I'm ready for this press conference so that's the Niners blame there but from auk's side he has caused a lot of friction if you will with these social media Antics and again I just think we're going to come to a situation where training camp comes around we finally get a deal done and then we're going to look back at the last several months and we're going to be like we really did that again for the fourth straight off season lastly before I throw it to you I posed this poll question on our community tab on the Niners report which offse was more dramatic for a wide receiver looking for a new deal and I think this is recency bias but on nearly 7,000 votes 81% said auk over Debo but Debo requested a trade wiped his social media of all things Niners I felt as though that was a little bit more hectic than auk but either way I just think fans are growing tired of it you know yeah I mean I I I think fans are growing tired of it they're also growing tired of the fact that there's not a new story and guys like myself are pounding this thing into the into the TA into the ground but we're just covering what's out there and this is what's out there um is iuk does this does the thing change if he doesn't show up like and I right now I'm a of the belief that the ners are going to get it done that they're gonna sign them that you know eventually they'll get it done whether it be 27 28 29 30 they're gonna get it done they're too close not to he's too valuable to them he means too much to them I think they're going to get it done but um what happens if he doesn't show up at the beginning of camp and Ricky peera looks great Jacob coing looks great Debo Samuel is in Primo shape and looks primed for a big year gendo and shider look like legitimate running backs and they may they may you know they may be weak into a camp and go you know what we're going to keep six running backs on this team because we like shider and we don't want to lose him we like greno and you know um what happens if he doesn't show up does it does the dynamic change because like I was talking to somebody the other day and I was just saying hey look let's forget the iuk discussion for a second and just pretend that we are actually invested in the 49ers um and that we had a million-- dooll ticket in our back pocket that had the Niners winning you know Super Bowl 59 in New Orleans what what um what player gets you over the top is it auk or like if he doesn't show up and coing anderol are playing great I could make an argument I'd rather trade him to Denver for ceran and having a true number one corner might you know you're gonna have to play the Eagles they got AJ Brown and they got Devonte Smith and um you're gonna have to play the the Chiefs and the Chiefs just got Hollywood Brown and and they've got Mahomes it's like maybe having that true number one dominant corner like Kansas City had with Duffy and Sneed that might be the better route to go so I don't know what do you think did are the ners how wet are they to iuk or are they just kind of is auk a placeholder until coing and Piera can kind of prove that they can play and if those guys prove it early that maybe they would be more open to trading him for a different piece to the puzzle what do you think yeah sorry about that phone ring there I'm at my stepdad's house and Florida and he might be maybe 1% of the population who still has a landline that's what that was in the back I have one when it rings I always look at it like who sales call yeah exactly exactly um yes is Mr cner there uh you mean Krueger yes yes Mr Krueger hi yeah sales call Chase Senor is that you uh senior yes yeah Chase seor yes Mr seor um yeah I mean you know it's a good question and and it could certainly get to that point and I I kind of just think back to last year when Nick Bosa did not report the training camp did that help him I don't know if it helped him I think all along he was going to get paid and at least for me I always thought that he was going to set the record for the highest paid non-quarterback in the history of football at the time with both average annual value and guaranteed money he still got that if anything him holding out I thought it hurt the ners defense I thought it hurt him he was really slow as far as the production goes coming off the Defensive Player of the Year campaign to really find a stride and get going and I think an indication of that was he was just a tick off of having a handful of sacks early in the year and I think that the difference between him actually getting home to the quarterback and having a pressure or quarterback hit because if you look at the quarterback pressure and quarterback hits numbers from 2023 to 2022 some of the numbers last year were actually better than when he had 18 and a half sacks and won dpoy but that difference was him I think not being at training camp partaking in practices we knew that he was going to be incredible shape because the dude loves ball and is one of one as far as his look and what shape he is in but it's just totally different being in Nick Bosa sculpted shape and looking like aonis but also being in football shape and he even said and admitted many months later that him not being at training camp did cause for a little bit of a slow start now the sack numbers ended up picking up a little bit toward the middle and latter portions of the season and then in the playoffs I thought he brought it after he had a little bit of a playoff drought the past couple of years because he wore down a little bit but it hurt him and it hurt the Niners defense and if aayu holds out I know that we can talk about Ricky piersol and Jacob coing showing up and Performing well and that would be great that would mean that the Niners have some really quality young Talent at the wide receiver position which gives you roster building flexibility moving forward and financial flexibility moving forward that's great but when aayu comes back you know he's going to be the number one and if Brock py and this offense are without their number one for an extended period of time to start training camp either way I think a deal gets done but I think it hurts you on the field and that's not what I want to see what I want to see is this Savage revenge tour for San Francisco I want to see them still heartbroken and bitter about that Super Bowl loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in February and they're looking at them as being so close three straight NFC titles a Super Bowl appearance four NFC titles in five years two Super Bowl appearances as an organization seven NFC titles in 14 years they haven't won a ring since 1994 and I want to see them take that personally I want them to understand that they choked that Super Bowl away that they should not have lost that they could have taken down Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid and it changes so much about the San Francisco 49ers the legacy of Kyle Shanahan the story of Brock pie now you're talking about future Hall of Famers and Trent Williams and Fred Warner possibly Nick Bosa Christian mcaffrey Debo Samuel Brandon iuk all these all Pros pro bowlers future Hall of Famers they get a ring it changes everything about their legacies right and so I want to see everybody on the same page right from the jump starting on July 23rd because they're the best team in the NFC I I think they might have the best roster in the NFL and if auk is not there it's just not the same Squad the level of confidence and Swagger and physicality and overall Talent he brings to the team is drastic so I hope it doesn't get to that point because I think it hurts the onfield product and that at the end of the day is what matters yeah you know it's funny we've got people in here iuk uh you know there's people that are all of the map on it iuk is you know they're ripping iuk auk's a toilet bug um you know you've got you've got uh um you know we got this guy Invader say uh is auk exponentially better than puka some 49er does not like me does he I wouldn't take it personally Christopher L clerks is laughing my effing ass off Brandon auk is exponentially better than Ricky peera and Jake yeah nobody's nobody's saying that he's not but but it doesn't they don't they don't you know those guys come in and look good um you know that's what we're talking about we're not saying they're gonna be better yeah hurts his leverage um you know it's it's the whole thing is is a bizarre situation because it just seems like it just keeps going and going and going and going was there anything in that pivot podcast that stood out to you or bothered you the only thing I didn't like is I didn't like how he he covered Pie by saying you know hey I got the right quarterback and that he's nice and this and that uh but then he didn't hold back when he was talking about Jaden Daniels and he's like you know I believe J um I can take my game to the next level with Jaden Daniels should should Brock pie take offense to that do you think Brock pie takes offense to that what do you think of of that line it was a very Pro Jaden Daniels uh pod partially because he was in the room yeah if I'm Brock pie I'm looking at his production which has been borderline Elite since he replaced Jimmy Garoppolo I'm looking at the win loss record don't tell me wins don't matter for a quarterback they do we judge quarterbacks on winning Super Bowl championships so don't hit me with that I'm looking at how this offense has looked the statistics of this unit and the difference in offensive efficiency offensive explosion and offensive consistency when you compare the play of Brock pie to Jimmy Garoppolo Larry this is a night and day difference from when Jimmy garoppo was this team's quarterback to Brock pie every part of the offense has been better which leads me to this point outside of Debo Samuel whose production has been limited because of other players rising up and him either being hurt or out our shape everybody's production has gone up Christian mcaffrey NFL offensive player of the year Brock Pie plays a role in that Brandon auk had a career year and was a second Team all pro Brock pie was a part of that the number one deep ball completion rate number one in yards per attempt Red Zone efficiency accuracy timing processing that helped Brandon auk be elite look at what George KD has done with Brock pie at the helm his touchdown numbers have completely exploded and he was the first team All Pro last year that was because of Brock perie so for the casuals out there who say p's coach makes him the system makes him and he's a byproduct of that his complimentary weapons are why he's so good this Niners offense would not be doing this right now with Jimmy Garoppolo as compared to perie so to answer your question auk the last year and a half has been a top 10 quarterback in this league before that he was making strides and improvements he was developing with Jimmy Garoppolo as the QB and Trey Lance there for a hot minute but his game has gone to a different level with Brock pie how are you gonna say that you can play better with a quarterback like Jane Daniels who has not played a pro snap yet he may have won the Heisman Trophy at LSU that's great but before going to LSU and really before 2024 people look that Jaden Daniels has a project quarterback who was a little bit small who was solid at Arizona State but not great honestly when I watched him at LSU I thought he was one read two read and run sometimes and I think that could be a problem at the next level I get that you're best friends and you talk every day and you know auk said to me and others at the combine that or Jane Daniel said at the combine that he speaks with auk every day and he you know leans on him for advice but come on now like don't disrespect your quarterback and I don't think that pry took it that way but I think it is a little bit disrespectful to say I could take my game to the next level with Jaden Daniels I also thought it was interesting how auk literally name dropped the commanders and Pittsburgh Steelers as two teams that he would like to get traded to if he doesn't return to the ners that adds up too he's on Tik Tock with Jaden Daniels saying they don't want me back he shows up to the pivot with Jaden Daniels and points to him as a quarterback he'd like to play for if it's not for the ners and then he tweeted directly at Mike Tomlin and while I don't make a huge deal of him wearing the Pittsburgh Pirates hat he's rocking Pittsburgh gear so that's how I kind of approach all that yeah and you know you know Ryan Clark's a former Steeler he was rooting for him and it had a you know he took literally a couple minutes and was like you know play for the Steelers um what do you what's the ners what move is in the Niners best interest does it like is it yeah if they pay auk now as opposed to say you know what play on the fifth year option we'll deal with it next year next year he's more expensive yeah he's he was more expensive this year than last year he's going to be more expensive uh in the future than he is in the past I mean or than he is in the present but so there's that like you pay him the sooner you pay him the less you pay him but then the sooner you pay him if they pay iuk the kind of money that iuk is seeking then that ends Debo's run with the ners almost almost assuredly and I just watched Debo on a treadmill looking like he was running 20 miles an hour crazy supposedly he was running 18 miles an hour last year he looks like he's going to show up motivated focused and determined what if the Niners just extend iuk and Debo badly out produces him but then that they still moving on from Debo in the scenario at the end of the year I I think it might be in their best interest to you know what even though we are all in this Camp of get it done get it done get it done maybe the best move is just play the fifth year option play on the fifth year option and let these guys compete against each other and um let the best man win if Debo you know I think auk's better than Debo I think auk's the guy that is more likely to earn the long-term deal I think most Niner fans feel that way but let him let him compete I me this the whole thing is a big competition why not just let him compete this year you're inside your Super Bowl window don't commit to either because there's other factors now right that we're not even talking about what if Jacob coing is their best receiver what if Ricky peera is pukaa you know what if their receiving core looks quite a bit different because at the you know six games into the year because of the evolution of those two guys or Debo having a career year AR wouldn't the Niners be kind of kicking themselves for not you know just saying hey play on the fifth year op and let's deal with next year next year um I mean I can see the pros of making iuk happy he's a powerful presence in the room Chase but you got football teams got to do what's best for them it might be in their best interest to let these guys compete and we don't think they're both going to be here long term but why not let them compete on the field for it instead of awarding it to auk and then maybe having to have an awkward because what if auk signs the big money deal gets hurt and iuk and Debo's having a career year now you've got a yeah you've signed iuk and you thought you were taking care of your locker room Dynamic but now you got even a weirder locker room dynamic because you got a popular productive player um who's outperforming a player who's signed and yet the PO popular productive uh player is most likely to depart at the end of the year what do you think maybe the fifth year option is the best best call what do you think you make some excellent points there a lot of takeaways the whole fifth year option and the Niner's ability to franchise tag auk after 2024 is part of the reason why auk doesn't have a lot of Leverage here because the Niners can say we will give you $26 million per year we will give you $65 million in guaranteed money that's more than your teammate Debo in average annual value that's more than Debo Samuel as far as guaranteed money you can take that deal and you can have absolutely lifechanging money that will alter the course of your life your family's life for generations to come and you're still going to be a top seven paid wide receiver in the National Football League if you don't want to take that deal that's fine we still have leverage here in this little arms race because you can play this season on the fifth year option of 14 plus million dollar and then we have the right to franchise tag you next year and right now the franchise tag for 2024 it's the average of the top five players at the position I believe is like 2324 million that would be a bargain for Brandon iuk now next year it will go up because other wide receivers have gotten paid this off season to increase that number but it still might be under what iuk is looking for at $30 million per year right so that's the leverage that the ners have here over auk and they could put the pressure on him where he looks at it and says I can either take $26 million per year with 65 guaranteed and be happy have an opportunity to win stay with the organization that I've been with with the quarterback who I've thrived under a coach who's going to put me in the right position maybe I'll start to get more targets as this offense evolves and I know that year in year out we're going to have an opportunity to win a Super Bowl or I could risk it not get that money now risk in Y and depending on how things play out I could land that New Deal possibly but I might have to go to a different team to do it and the foundation of that organization is not going to be as stable as the one that I have right now so that's kind of part of the conversation that I look at it to start and then the other element of it is look I think competition brings the best out of everybody Debo Samuel signed his contract extension and in the last two years he's been somewhat disappointed for the expectations that were levied upon him after he was a first team All Pro and got that deal he even admitted that the 2022 season was embarrassing for him he didn't want to put anything like that on tape again and while last year he was better he still hasn't been as good as he was when he was that all proo during that magical 2021 season when literally he put the offense on his back as a running back and wide receiver and help the ners find their footing as an offense because Jimmy garoo was so lackluster where they made it to the NFC Championship Game and look at how motivated Debo Samuel is looks to be in great shape he's running on the assault treadmill reaching 20 miles per hour he looks to be very hungry why is that because competition brings the best out of everybody and that's in the sporting realm that's in the corporate world me and you as content creators Larry we look to see how other YouTube channels are doing we look to see what the best practices are we look to see how we stack up with those other YouTube channels because that motivates me to be better put out more content do more research be a better onair host so that I can give my viewers and subscribers better stuff to compete with other people and that kind of excites me right the fact that aou could go into this year looking to prove himself he's hungry Debo's hungry the whole team is hungry looking to win a Super Bowl and get over the hump and change their legacies forever but then there's also this auk is so respected in that locker room he's valued so much he means so much to the offense do you want to risk him not getting a deal being a distraction we've seen the lengths to which he's gone as well as his camp where his girlfriend right after the year is hinting Ba's time with the Niners might be over best friend saying ba to the Raiders him tweeting directly at Mike Tomlin him name dropping teams that he' like to get traded to him taking the Tik Tock who's to say he's not going to do that during the regular season which would just cause unnecessary drama and I'm a believer that if you're trying to win a Super Bowl you want as little drama as possible look at how it kind of self-destructed with the Golden State Warriors at the end of the Kevin Durant era that can bring down a team for sure and I know that it's frustrating the ners didn't sign auk early and in turn they're going to have to pay him a little bit more there is light at the end of the tunnel and there is a bright spot there even if the Niners signed up for $28 million per year and he continues this trajectory the wide receiver Market's going to continue to go up so in two years shoot maybe even next year 28 million could still be a bargain that's also frustrating because maybe the Niners could have had them at 26 million per are you saying am I understanding this correct are you saying that in your mind you would choose one of the two options either sign him or trade him over hey you're coming back on the fifth year option 14.1 I I would I would keep auk regardless I would I would run it back with this entire team you're able to do it financially right now you are currently six in cap space and I'm a Believer from a team building strategy standpoint that when you have a quarterback on his rookie deal and this is really the final year that you're going to have that with Brock pie before he gets that extension go all in with that quarterback on his rookie deal revisit everything outside of that later down the road when you do have to give them a contract extension and this is really the final year where the Niners can go all in with Brock py as the QB they have the most talented roster in the NFL in my opinion they have a great shot to make it back to the Super Bowl if they can stay healthy I think they're playing in New Orleans come February against a team from the AFC maybe it's a rematch against Kansas City Houston Texans whatever I'm running it back with this entire team for 2024 because I know this team is special I want that continuity that I saw really develop last year with this offense I think the defense is gonna rebound from an up and down season last year and I just want to see this collection of players stay together to try to win that Championship because they're certainly capable of doing that yeah I think the Niners see it the same way you see it I really do I think they see it like hey we want to keep this I think this entire off season is if there could be summed up like if you ran into John Lynch you know third week in February or something hey John how you doing I know you guys lost the Super Bowl what what's on the what are you on the verge of he's like hey I you know I bet you he would have said honestly then what is the truth which is hey man we're just trying to keep this thing together for another year hey we just want to keep this thing together for another year before the we pay our quarterback and I think that's kind of their mindset that being said um there's a lot of speculation about the Niners adding maybe one more piece to the puzzle as you said they have the six Mo most cap room but as we all know in an Ideal World they may roll a good chunk of that over to next year so they can pay Brock pie so they're not looking to necessarily spend that money but let's just say they were going to add one more piece to the puzzle what is that piece there's an article out right now on Bleacher Report Christopher KNX says that the 49ers should make a play for uh Ste Stefan Gilmore in free agency there's also other people suggesting I've seen articles in the last week that the Niners ought to kick tires on Buddha Baker a lot of people like Justin Simmons a former Boston College Corner who is you know good free safety option who's out there on the street um I'm looking at I read an article the other day about potential Cuts in August at the August 31st cutdown and I saw two safeties that I really liked in Richie Grant who played at Central Florida who played for the f F or plays for the Falcons and um and leis seen from Minnesota was a first round pick out of Georgia won a couple national championships there broke his leg he's fallen deep on the depth chart in Minnesota and they're saying he may not make the team so I I'd almost rather you know call up uh Minnesota about scene or Atlanta about about Richie Grant and see if I could you know trade for a a safety you know maybe he was a high pick by somebody else and see if you can catch lightning in the bottle like you did with lak and Tomlinson over um a Buddha Baker who would be awesome but it would probably cost you quite a bit definitely GNA cost you a big number on the cap or even Simmons who is coming off of a uh Pro Bowl year what do you think I mean is the Niners I like the look of the Niners secondary they're gonna have to pay Mooney and Lor at the end of the year anyway if you were if you could add a piece to this puzzle what where are you adding and and would it be in the secondary I think this Niners team is in a really good spot as far as their roster right now I think one of the goals for San Francisco going into the off season was to build some depth on both sides of the ball I think they were able to accomplish that now you look at the Niners cap situation right now they have $ 31.4 million in cap room that is sixth in the entire NFL that's great but you also look ahead to next year and as current constituted they are actually $ 38.9 million over the cap and they are 30th in cap space in the NFL I wouldn't Panic too much about that because San Francisco can roll some of that cap space over to next year to help absorb that and there are so many ways to massage the cap and pull off some loopholes and salary cap gymnastics contract extensions restructures giving players guaranteed money Cuts trades so right now the Niners are in a pretty good spot if you look at some of the weaknesses and you think about some of the weaknesses on this team right now I don't think it's in the cornerback room I like charvarius Ward and dador Lenor I think there is a question where do you want dador Lenor to play in the final year of his rookie deal is he an outside guy or is he an inside guy I think he's an absolutely Elite slot nickel Corner who might be the best nickel Corner in the NFL and do you just want to maximize him there if that's the case not only could you save money with the contract extension next off season because slot guys make less than outside guys but who starts opposite of charvarius Ward is it Isaac yam is it Rock Yim who's gonna be that guy now if you put dador Lenor on the outside then who starts in the slot is it going to be reonardo green who Nick Sorenson said we're going to start him off in the slot or do you want him to play safety or is he going to be the holdover plan at comes back do you think he can play safety I know he did a little bit at Florida State is he he's 185 pounds and what do you think Chase it's a coverage game we know he can cover yeah uh we know he's we know he's a dog we know he's tough but 185 pounds is a small safety yeah I personally don't like him at safety I just brought that up because I know you and I have talked about that like he has the ball skills and the physicality I'm not sure that you have to be a thumper at safety like you used to be when John Lynch was playing Brian Dawkins and Ed Reed it's more of a coverage game now as you said but I like Renardo green at corner and I like him in the slot he's a little bit smaller but he has toughness he has swagger he has ball skills he led the ACC in pass breakups he's really nasty has no fear so I would just keep him at that position but again like what's your plan at outside corner now if you don't think you have an outside corner do you go Stefan Gilmore there that could make some sense I also look at safety as a little bit of an issue here just because of the health of taleno Huong and the fact that he's going into the final year of his rookie deal I really like Jer Brown he's my favorite player on this team to be a breakout player in 2024 I just think he has it and Huong is such an interesting player because look I'm not saying this because of the Polynesian connection but like when you watch him he play style wise does perform and play very much like Troy palalo but he's not that center field guy so sometimes you have to hide him around the line of scrimmage as that hybrid linebacker you include him in some Blitz calls because he's so good at doing that and he can just make plays on the football but the Niners put him around the line of scrimmage because as a deep center field safety is really not that guy and Jer Brown's a little bit of a tweener which is why I've brought up the name of Justin Simmons who is a four-time all proo who was an all proo last year spectacular player team captain he's played in vic fangio defenses he's really smart he leads the NFL in interceptions since coming into the league and has been consistently really really good and with the safety Market drying up outside of Xavier mcken a lot of safeties have not gotten paid I don't really think you have to give him all that much money and I think he makes you better right now if you don't want to go him you could go with Eddie Jackson who I think would be cheaper uh you could go with quandre Diggs some people have brought up Jamal Adams please don't do that I think GI playing he's a hybrid linebacker he cannot play safety any longer plus he's always hurt um I might look at defensive tackle Conor Williams is a center out there who I think would be a huge upgrade over Jake brindle but the Niners are so stubborn with their offensive line strategy I think they're going to run it back with the same starting five backup tight end is interesting Mo Alli Cox is a player who could get released by the Indianapolis trade him for cheap so those are some players that kind of come to mind when I think about that uh what do you think of carard here is where does must Malik Mustafa fit in this safety conversation because that's a great question and kind of an unknown yeah and that that's why I would just have Bernardo green continue to play corner and I want to see what you can get from Malik Mustafa now again the issue is kind of depth there when does huanga come back if he comes back early that's great huanga Jer Brown you're two starting safeties and I've been itching at the bit to watch those two safeties um together on the field at the same time because I think they can be really good then your backup situation is okay you have George odm Malik Mustafa but if there's a delay in the recovery for Talon ohu fonga then you look at that safety room and you're like George odm is a career special teamer he might have to get some snaps rookie Malik Mustafa might have to get some snaps that's a little bit hairy on that back end especially if you're not pressure with that front four which is a remade unit along the defensive line which is why I bring up those safeties as names but I like Mustafa as a prospect I really liked him coming out of Wake Forest when I was at the NFL combine I did some more research after interviewing him and I'm like this dude can play and the Niners love these High character guys he's certainly a High character guy and I like his versatility um the the one spot that I'm a little nervous about a other than what we've discussed is defensive end because I mean I like Floyd and obviously Bosa and youer gr Matos I think is nice but they they probably want to have two more defense events and they're looking at a group that includes Drake Jackson Austin Bryant Robert Beal Jr Alex Barrett um just a lot of question marks there and you know I was looking at an article about guys who may get cut in August and there were four defensive ends that they listed and I'll I'll give them to you and tell me if you if you had to choose one do you like these guys um one is isaah fosy from the Saints another is Joseph osai from Cincinnati played at Texas another is Daryl Taylor played at Tennessee who's now with Seattle and John Kaminsky who played at I think Charleston and he's um in Detroit yeah if all four of those guys got cut let's say or were on the verge of getting cut in August and you could make a phone call offer a conditional you know day three sixth or seventh round swap or something you know day three uh deal to get one of those guys who's the most intriguing name out of those guys fosi osai Taylor and Kaminsky to you yeah fosy is a former I believe second round pick out of Notre Dame I kind of liked his game coming out of college he hasn't really been able to put it together but we've seen what Chris kerak is able to do with defensive lineman who may have not lived up the draft expectations he's able to just coach them up develop them and maximize them whether it be Ardon key Charles am menue Cleland furl Jordan Willis he has a long track record of being able to do that so I'm always excited about some of these Edge players getting under the watch of Chris koser because he does such a great job with them John Kaminsky has shown some flashes with the Detroit Lions and that's a lions defensive line that's really good he's kind of falling under the radar a little bit I think that he could be had I look at fosy Kaminsky as two players who I'd be intrigued by um who you could either have via the trade market or if they get let go by their teams those are quality depth pieces there because I'm with you you know you have Nick BOS and Leonard Floyd as your top two Edge rushers if they were to go down Drake Jackson's coming off a bad knee injury and this coaching staff up to this point hasn't trusted him youur gross MOS hasn't broken out yet and other than that you have Robert Beal who didn't do anything as a rookie and he's an unknown commodity so I think bringing in another player there could really help bulk up that roster too couple last ones before we let you go who's the number one Challenger in the NFC I mean Philly got rid of two really questionable coordinators and replaced them with Kell Moore and Vic fangio yeah um and then added you know Chanty Gardner Johnson who I'm a big fan of um I'm a big fan of Devin white they added him as well uh then they will go in the draft they get quinan Mitchell I thought was one of the cleanest prospects in the entire draft the cornerback out of Toledo then they got Cooper dein uh who a lot of people really like um what do you think is it Eagles is it Green Bay with all those weapons getting a year more experienced with Jordan love um is it Detroit that finally solved their P defense you you would think by adding four or five corners in the draft and free agency including terion Arnold um is that the Rams who you know were top eight in points per game and have added some nice pieces on defense despite losing Aaron Donald who is the number one at the ners are the favorite and they are um who's the number one contender in Chase senior's mind going into the year yeah I love some conference July power rankings in the NFC I think the ners are the clearcut number one team the only weakness really that they have is along their offensive line but other than that this is an extremely talented and deep roster who has a lot of playoff experience I like the whole building of the team from the coaching staff to the offense to the defense so Niners are number one for me in the NFC especially with what they did last year at number two I'm gonna go with the Detroit Lions and I'm not just saying that because these two teams met in the NFC championship game but I do think the lions got better this off season they might have the best offensive line in football that helps Jared Goff who I think is a middleof the road quarterback in this league but with more protection he can Elevate his game they have a good run game they have a good receiver core they have a really good tight end they had weaknesses at the cornerback spot but they really addressed that during the off season in the draft and in free agency so I just like the makeup of that team and the momentum they have as an organization I like the principles under Dan Campbell he's come a long way from the budding of the kneecaps but he's instilled that culture and they have this toughness culture that embodies the city of Detroit and I just like how they've made up that team and general manager Brad Holmes has done a terrific job so Detroit comes in at number two after that it's really difficult for me I like the talent of the Eagles but I was concerned with how Jaylen Herz finished the year last year they also bring in two new coordinators off ly and defensively now both Kell Moore and Vic fangu have so much experience in the league whereas last year Brian Johnson the OC and Shawn desde the DC had no experience but there still could be a little bit of an adjustment there I do like the additions that they made in free agency and in the draft but it hinges on a lot right so maybe I'll go Philly three if I don't go Philly 3 I really like where the Rams and Packers are I think the ram and Packers if they were representing the NFC in the Super Bowl come February in New Orleans I would not be surprised at that and then after that I think there's a large drop off to that next tier which is probably led by the Dallas Cowboys who I think are secretly like rebuilding or resetting the team because they made no Moves In free agency I mean they poached Eric Kendricks away from the ners and they sign Ezekiel Elliott that's really it and offensively they didn't add anything I think they're thin at wide receiver receiver they didn't address the Run game at all they have two rookies who might start along the offensive line in Tyler gon and Cooper BB that obviously is riant on them actually being good players and overcoming that rookie curve so that's kind of how I look at the Outlook of the NFC right now and that's why I say for the ners it's totally up for grabs if they can stay healthy I like their chances of making it to another Super Bowl and hopefully this time capitalizing and bringing that Lombardi trophy back to the Bay Area pry gonna have a better year or will there be statistical regression I asked because um Jeff Diamond former Dolphins executive ranked py among the best NFL players under the under the age of 25 on his list for the 33rd team he comes in pery comes in at six behind only Jefferson Parsons pan sauce and lamb pery just turned 24 in December he's coming off of a 4280 yard passing season um you know he's he was obviously Mr Irrelevant he's he's the NFL with a 113 passer rating 31 touchdowns fourth most in franchise history the most since Jeff Garcia in 2001 had 31 um Diamond says he directed the Niners to the NFC West Title then the Super Bowl before falling to the Chiefs in overtime he showed good running ability on top of passing skill in a pro bowl season big payday awaits perie if he continues at his current Pace some people are projecting regression I think there's no doubt doubt he's going to be better off where he's practicing and and uh repping it out on the practice field with his receivers um but where do you see Brock going this year I've had a lot of people say Brock pie is due for a regression because the rest of the NFL can catch up to him and they can adapt to what he does well after studying tape and what the niners offensive Tendencies are I see where you're coming from but can I counter that by saying with another year more experience and more reps the game is going to slow down Brock party had an opportunity to address his flaws and weaknesses and address those things and get better from them another year of offensive continuity with a really talented team with the same head coach in your ear can just lead to better results and then also as part of that you think about pere's career up to the point right year one he's qb3 behind Trey Lance and Jimmy garoo he did not get a lot of reps in general as a rookie nor did he get reps with the first teamers he was also the scout team quarterback for San Francisco when he was impressing the likes of Fred Warner during that rookie campaign before he replaced Jimmy G year two everything was setting up nicely up until the NFC championship game when he tears his elbow up and he didn't have an offseason to early go on vacation with some of his teammates and put in work as far as running routes and throwing the football to get on the same page yes he was ready for day one of training camp but he was also on a little bit of a pitch count right and they limited him at least a little bit because they had to be wary of the elbow soreness and the elbow recovery now going into this year he's had a fullof season I've seen the workout photos and videos it looks as though he added to his body a little bit and one thing that you can't take away from pie is what makes great quarterbacks great outside of just the measurements and the arm strength it's the timing the accuracy the anticipation the processing I think that Kyle Shanahan 2 could elect to throw the football a little bit more to be a little bit more conservative with Christian mcaffrey knowing that he signed that extension and Shanahan even said we've got to be more mindful of his usage plus do we want to put more on the for Brock py to air it out given the modern day landscape of how NFL offenses go and also I want to see py use his legs a little bit more and I want to see Kyle Shanahan allow him to use his legs a little bit more and also have more autonomy at the line of scrimmage py has shown that he's a really smart player with that processing with the ability to take apart defenses if you truly believe that py is your franchise guy at the quarterback spot then give him more power and give him more Runway give him a larger leash allow him to have more power of this offense and naturally I think that just frees him up a little bit mentally and in the game where he can just naturally produce a little bit better I'm just a believer that when you do more of one thing whether it be you know our job on the microphone or pry getting reps or playing games you can just get better on top of that and I think the best is still yet to come with pie because ever since he was a rookie third Stringer I've been a believer in his um one super and then one fantasy question and we're out uh Batman says thoughts on Jake Moody going into his second year what do you think I don't have a lot of thoughts on Jake Moody I it's amazing how few thoughts I have on the kicker yeah and I've gotten the same question too and I just love getting these questions because it means that people love ball and they're so interested in all elements of the San Francisco 49ers look I know that Moody missed the potential gamewinner against the Browns and had some rocky moments he had the extra point blocked by Kansas City and obviously that point loomed large in that game but when you look at Moody's entire year I actually give him a lot of credit for the mental fortitude that he had it got off to a bad start in that preseason game against the Raiders I mean the two kicks that he missed in that game he kicked the ball all the way to Los Angeles and then Josh McDaniels iced him in a pre-season game on a kick and early in the year you know he missed that kick against the Browns sometimes kickers are so mentally fickle that can ruin them it didn't ruin Jake Moody at points I thought he was clutch and I actually thought he recovered quite well for the year he was 21 of 25 on his field goals 60 of 61 on his extra points and when you look at like the specifics of what he did he was seven of seven between 20 and 29 yards can't ask for anything better from 30 to 39 yards he was eight of nine still really good 40 to 49 he was four of six not bad and then 50 plus two of three and I know that everybody wants to talk about the missed extra point in the Super Bowl he hit 250 Plus yarders in the Super Bowl record record setting kicks yeah yes like that is ice cold like that is coldblooded putting your nuts on the table big boy stuff so I give him credit for that and he has a big leg he had a clutch Gene at Michigan and I I think he has potential in this league I really do yeah no I do too I think he's gonna gain tremendous confidence off the Super Bowl I know a lot people say well he missed the extra point but yeah but you know what it was blocked it was blocked it wasn't you know it wasn't like he missed it he was blocked and it came off a little low but the cut the blocking up front wasn't great but he did hit two booming field goals yeah I think he carries confidence out of the Super Bowl into year two I think he's going to be the Niners kicker for a long time last one lots of people I just got contacted this weekend to MC a guy's fantasy draft and I said yeah yeah I'll do it and then he told me it was in Riverside and then I'm of course Riverside is hours from here and then he said he would he would pay me fly me in feed me fly me out pay for all of it and pay me on top of it what would it take what would it take to get Chase senior to leave Dallas get on a plane fly to La host a three-hour draft show and uh go back home in one day it would probably require that first of all I'm not a fantasy football player I haven't played fantasy football in years I like to gamble on football I don't like playing fantasy for me it always takes away from my enjoyment of loving the game of football because I don't want to watch a game for instance and the ners win but I'm pissed off because Brock pry didn't throw for three touchdowns and I lost my fantasy game by one point like I don't want to have to worry about that um I like being a general manager and the thought of that but I just don't really like fantasy but well my kid my youngest kid my 14-year-old go does something that I absolutely would never do he'll have like five teams can't do it so he'll be rooting for and against guys and you know me I'm rooting for this guy but I thought he wasn't yeah but I'm not I'm benching him today and I'm oh my God if you're G to play Fantasy one team yeah like I love rooting against a Cowboys I love how they've been frauds for three decades but I don't always find joy in just rooting against a player because for one of my five fantasy teams he could cost me like again it just distracts me from watching the game of football that I've loved watching every single Sunday Monday and now Thursday since I was like four or five years old but I do love chopping it up with viewers and fans and that actually would get me excited if you got to fly me out and fly me there and you have to pay me I got to be making a profit here but if we can have some fun and I can MC and you've got a good food spread and we're gonna take down some drinks and we're gonna have some fun I would gladly do that and maybe we get some content out of it and put it up on the channel and make a little bit of more additional Revenue I would be down to do that and I think that you should consider it what's your price what do you want you want a grand well it depends on the airfare which nowadays is an absolute no the guy's paying for the hotel he's paying he's paying for the flight okay soay for the flight so now it's just matter paying for the hotel well there's not gonna be a hotel because we're gonna do it all one day because it's La okay so yeah that's a wash um let's see there's long-term parking you got to pay long-term parking at the airport I might start at $500 yeah give me $500 and there yep that's what I said let me take 500 yep anyway blood moon drops this one and then we uh he says will'll teams throw more because of these new tackle rules um what do you think I don't know I I don't even know the new tackle rules what's the new tackle rule because you can't hurl your body like the you know the the thing where you The Swinging gate thing where like a DB tries to tackle Derrik Henry it used to be you could tack derck Henry up front and then swing your legs Jimmy did Tony okay yeah I'm thinking like offensive tackle role um I mean look teams do such a good job of spreading things out and like you look at the Niners they do such a good job of getting the ball in the hands of their Playmakers in space I don't know if it's going to cause them to throw more but I think it's going to lead to the yak Kings for the ners picking up more Yak that's what I do think yeah and also I think it's GNA make it where teams are going to have to decide do they want coverage players on defense or do they want tacklers and guys you know it's been a coverage game to this point but the little guys have gotten through it by the little guys can swing their bodies at the legs of the runners now that's illegal now you're gonna have to tackle straight up and it's gonna kind of reward guys with a little bit more heft y um so it'll be interesting to see who they choose to play in the secondary not just eat up what's that yeah dbo and KD I mean they can eat up yeah those guys are going to dominate you would think great stuff Chase what do you got cooking the rest of the day you're are you on vacation are you uh how long you hanging in Florida for yeah I'll be here till Monday morning and then I'll be back in the studio on Monday so early flight Monday but I'm going to take this time during the craziness of NBA free agency and a little bit of NFL coverage to kind of chill reset a little bit but still going to put up content every single day because that's what we try to do on the channel content videos every day I hear you man you're the hardest working guy there is keep it rolling thanks for the time we'll we'll see you next week y thanks everybody peace yeah never met a man I've been scared
