Dodgers postgame: Dave Roberts gives update on Shohei Ohtani after hit by pitch, talks Lakers week

[Music] 's okay otani's okay I think they took some scans and I heard they were negative so he he's fine yeah where I think yeah right I think it I think it was right here on the uh on the left arm yeah on the forearm big how scary is that with all he means for uh it's it's really scary you always hold your breath um we experienced that with m a few months ago and then obviously we show a ball coming in and you know fortunately hit him on the forearm but when you start talking about little bones in the hands and things like that and uh you know four to six weeks that this time in in the year man that's that's a scary one yeah had been in little bit like a I said the last seven days or so comes out game what you been seeing from him and what you see in that swing um obviously a really good swing um I I think I actually I like the ad bats I I think that you know even in the last week I think there's been some hard outs to center field to right field um you know he hadit a flare today the first B that I thought was still a good piece of hitting on a cut fast ball um yeah I I don't think mook's far off it but I do think that obviously getting rewarded with the Homer uh was good good for him but I I think he's in a good spot overall would you make you know again the team bouncing back the way they did you up TI come up as in a huge yeah I I I like the way we're playing um you know would have loved to have the game last night back but I think overall the last couple weeks we're playing sound baseball um you know we're pitching well the defense has been good migyo yesterday you know made a really nice play keik today in center field that was a huge play um and I think situation we're doing a much better job you know I think the first five innings today were certainly forgettable um offensively but it was good to see us hanging there and Gavin gave us a chance to win a ball game Dave with 31 left there's a lot of baseball still to be played and I know you take bits and pieces from every game and put them in a I guess an information Bank you think you're going to get Glassell back you're hoping to get Yamamoto back but with the away Stones pitching where does he fit in in the postseason to you um I I don't know that answer yet um obviously talking about yoshinobu and Tyler those are um variables that are not certain right now um so I think that for us we're all dealing with the uh you know here and now I mean I think that's just the best way and if we get both those guys back it's going to be a difficult fun conversation um but you know right now um I don't know when both those guys are coming back we hope to get them back for a couple starts in September um but again that's still an unknown what it mean this weekend because seeing you before game yesterday with the showtime lers kind of seemed like a kid again and then just with the Bri um it was it was great seeing uh the showtime Lakers um it reminds me of it took me back to when I was a kid with my dad listening to Chick Hearn watching Lakers play and watching magic and all those guys run the floor and so I was a huge fan of all those guys and so to see him right there was pretty uh it was a it was a moment for me I didn't hide it very well um and to see Vanessa here and uh the babies it was just it was really good and I think that you know the relationship Kobe loved baseball and so for the relationship with the city and the Lakers and the Dodgers to keep that flame burning I think is great and to get the family here was awesome and see how those 824 jerseys today was fun and uh yeah I'm glad we got a win today da you mention CH c chck v oh stop I'm not going not going there I'm I like La man today yeah he was number eight yeah right um no I I I'd like to think so that was a good one that's right um it was big hit KK's come up big for us and only fitting he was wearing them break how big is it to see Kik hit left-handers this weekend like he did he's he's moving all over the field and it's not not phasing him you know what it's great I I think that as we've gotten our roster a little bit more stable I think that kind of getting him him defining him more in that role um to dominate leftand pitching I think that uh is where we're at right now and but be able to kind of deploy him different spots is certainly helpful but you know we're going to need him to be good versus left Ender pitching and and to see that today um was was big for for all of us thanks guys
