[Music] good day everybody and welcome to this week's episode of the scown what a massive win it was for the footy Club taking down the demons on home soil this bloke played an integral role in getting the job done I'm joined by four times all Australia he might have put that on the prompto I reckon and Premiership player Jeremy McGavin mate what the emotions like in the rooms after a big win that were good man it was real good um yeah it was good Vibes down there as Good Vibes ever even out on the ground with um with all the fans it was um it was awesome getting a good win and um yeah everyone was up and about watching along it looked like a a different it certainly look like you took it right up to the dam Max Gorn there was a clear plan there making it difficult for him on the night Dom shade tagged Clayton Oliver for long periods did it feel like there was a bit more roll driven behavior for the for the club and contested brand yeah there we've got roles every week sure but um yeah this week they've got some key players that are very good players um and you can't completely stop those types especially Max um very very hard to stop so I think as a collective we try to make it as difficult as possible for him throughout the night same with Clayton um but yeah and the boys boys stuck to their task did their roles um and there's a lot of other different roles like Jermaine Jones coming as pressure forward um JD tackled every single person in the southern M 12 tackles yeah it's huge so um all those small things all help contribute to a to a good win Tom Cole's 100th game must been proud to see him get to that Milestone yeah it's awesome man Tommy Cole um as you know SC he's one of the best to play with like everyone loves playing with him I love playing with him so um yeah I'm St just got to 100 he's got plenty more in him but um yeah I'm glad we got the win for him what about the Louch Jake Waterman he leads the Coleman at this stage he's joint leader alongsid some big names everyone wants to talk about how he's going knowing how it works in preseason you would have better spend a bit of time on him as a defender in in match him did you think he was set for a big year this year yeah Jak Jake's always been a quality forward a quality player um he's been had to play different roles at different stages obviously with the caliber of boys we've had with Aussie um JK down there obviously JD so um I think just the fact he's got a little bit more opportunity and he's a big dog down there at the moment he's he's relishing it and he's and he's doing it really well he's but it's all of the back of his preseason he had a massive pre-season uh come back extremely fit uh and he's worked on his craft really well so um I'm not surprised that he's in the position he is but um still pretty amazed about how well he's come on so early and so quickly but um hope he keeps going cuz he's um he's strutting around the corridors at the moment call him the duck so um yeah he's uh and he deserves it man he's worked his ass off um so what about down in the backline how how are you going you took took an ambulance home from from the game last week were you happy about that no not at all um why did you get on the bus with the rest of the boys I just made the flight like just made the flight so um yeah I day found the club did the right thing by me I guess um healthwise got hit in the kidney last week so um yeah when you get that you got to go check to make sure it's not ruptured so I had to go to the hospital and get that checked and as soon as I got there we I said look man we're flying out at 7:40 I need this to go as quickly as possible if we can place otherwise you got to get the later flight or stay over um and we literally lucky the flight was delayed 20 minutes so we just made it literally just got to the airport shout out the doctors at the Epworth hospital then yeah they were awesome they were great the ambulance took a little while to get to the get to the ground I was sitting there for an hour but it's all it's all part of it and I'm just glad I'm all good you um you're playing really good footy mate um just I know you won't like this I'll pump your ties up for a little bit but it looks like you know really fit but just reading the game well got a good balance between intercepting kicking the ball well some good kickouts last night moved the ball B out of that how you feeling your own footy yeah I I feel good it's just good to be out there um consistently so far touch what it says that way but um I'm just my body feels great um yeah like I said hopefully I can just stay out there and keep contributing every week and um my form's my form I guess I just want to contribute to the team on the day um and yeah I've had a bit more of opportunity with the ball in hand um lately I sort of that's sort of the way the game's going a little bit I think especially from the back half if you can try to generate some speed on the ball and um and get some bit of a burst off it I guess um is something I've sort of tried to focus on throughout the preseason so um yeah it's helped I guess I spoke to you last night you spoke about Your Love of the Game um how much has that to do with winning with playing with younger players with being out there consistently like how you feeling about foot at the moment yeah no I feel good like even we've had some tough losses this year as well and we probably didn't start the year as well as we liked um but I yeah there's a new Found Love for it I guess with all these young boys coming in now and new Vibe around the footy Club obviously with Parky in um seen a lot of pass players just all the little things around footy that you actually really love um and I've really relished it and really enjoyed it um as much as you're I'm the oldest player on the list now old boy everyone keeps telling me um it's actually yeah you still the boys make feel young again um and remind you about what foot is really about it's about enjoyment and doing it with your mates and doing all the stuff together so um yeah I've really enjoyed the time that we've had so far and I'm looking forward to keep enjoying it like it all right we're on the scown mate so this is a part where we get to hear from our audience our listeners so let's uh see what they've got to say for you mate Peter Allen asks what good does it uh sorry how good does it make you feel to see the squad develop so much this season mainly the young guys but also the likes of waterman yo withered and those sorts of players yeah I probably touched on my point just before of um um the enjoyment thing it's you you do enjoy that you love seeing that and love seeing the growth from the young boys and um you could always sort of see it was going to happen at some stage you see how hard these young Fells are working and the older boys yoy and Jakey and withow and all these guys behind the scenes we're working as hard as we can um and last couple years we haven't had great results but um slowly now we're starting to get some good ones which is great but um yeah it's always it's always good to see the young fellas especially coming on well hoffy come on really well obviously Harley's burst out the blocks but even Rubes chess like they're all starting to to find their feet a little bit and everyone sort of forgets they first year second year in in the game so um it takes a lot of time um so it's uh it's it's very nice to see and um it's what gets me out of bed in the morning both uh you and I know what it's like takes a little bit to understand how to you know be an AFL player and get consistent and people forget that sometimes as well I don't think I knew your name for the first 5 year at the footy Club Candice uh sounds like she was down in the rooms how did it feel when all the kids in the rooms had no interest in you uh and Jack and all just wanted to sit down and have a photo with Harley ra yeah M you know what please I'm just I'm I'm there for the kids I'm there to please so I went straight to Harley as good a fellow as he is he come over and game all the high five and got a photo with him made that absolute life so um now I'm more than happy to take the back seat I've got a head for radio so I don't want to really have too many photos but um n Harley's a ripper and he he really did make those kids in their um days and lives they're um Hudson my son's favorite players Harley raid now so all those kids back bur yeah you're just's dad mate I'm just the middleman just linking them up to their their favorite player Harley so um I'm more than happy to do it for him very good Amanda Telma Speedy asks you the question you were quite aggressive with your kick-ins tonight or last night go getting quick ball movement and using the corridor a lot more how much of that is simmo's game plan and how much is you deciding to take them on uh yeah I guess it's whoever's got the ball obviously needs to make that decision but um the coaching staff M Knights does that kicking stuff and he's very um Keen for me to back himself in and uh take it on when we can so when it present for sure I'll me personally I I'll try to take it on as much as we can so um but yeah I think it's just more the coaching staff giving you the confidence to go for it and backing in to go for them so um and we're a lot better around the contest at the moment so even if you um don't nail it at least we can get a good contest around that footy and try defend behind it so um a bit of both I guess individually you're looking for it but um also coaching staff get you it looks like the boys are moving quite well for the like kicking in I remember Shannon Hearn team out of your your mind always used to say it's a Bloody easy job when bikes are moving for you and and when you look up and you see a run just standing still you're like what I meant to do here boys it looks like boys are really working pretty hard yeah I think it all just stems off you know my the boys know I'm going to go for it a little bit you know we can kick it anywhere um everyone starts moving where you have a certain set player that you're only going to go to you know it's no one wants to move no want stand still so um it definitely helps when every runs Fang around and moving I think you're going to like these two questions coming up hindsight Runnings asks how good of a plumber are you actually going I'm actually not that good of a plumber but um I was a better Sparky I was actually a Sparky before pluming business so um I'd say better Sparky than I am plumber but Shout Out West Plumbing yeah West End great plumbing company if you need any services please give us K okay well maybe call you or maybe this man the kimy kid asked do you think the presence of Darcy rer at pre-season training sessions has contributed to the club's clear Improvement oh massive who dar dar is my business partner he's my best mate um has he written this in probably probably it wouldn't surprise me but um yeah that's the reason we're going so well he's been down I do all my preseason offseason training with him he's a he's a bit of a um foot enough deep down what to run the waters to no he runs man he's a good runner okay well compared to me I'm not cath Freeman that's for sure but um Dar is a good runner and he loves doing it so um I do me offseason training with him gets himself fit he'll be very happy with that shout out Jonathan Dawson I think this will finish us off which Premiership Eagle Defenders from 9294 0 do you wish you played with there's a fair few I reckon I'd love to play with good history of backman at this footy Club yeah there is some crackers like you'd love to play with W like for sure just seeing him come off the line and smoke a few people would be great you walk a bit taller with W um ah Jack even Glenn jackovich I'd love I'd love to play with him glassy a little bit more would Jacko you give Jacko a bit more of a lockdown rle if you're playing alongside him T and you just just put jack just lock him down just put him in the back pocket and just just keep him there and let us go to Work N yeah see that's that that's what would be great about it is just understanding how exactly how he played um but yeah there's there's so many for sure but David wunda oh yeah yeah we for sure I wouldn't get take the kickings if we was there that's for sure but um yeah there's we've had so many in blue McKenna um I'm just trying to think who else love to be running around with out there I said glassy I would have loved to have played a fair bit more footy with Bowie Waters yeah as well um but yeah we've got plenty I like that a lot uh this is our last one Jim wino uh says how how was it having the First Nation pass players in the rooms both pregame and afterwards to share in the victory yeah it was just awesome saying Sams coming through and all the old players Shaz was in there Shar Willingham was in there um it was just yeah great great seeing a lot of the past players come back to our footy Club at the moment um as it's a big lift for these young boys obviously myself I've been around and seen a fair few of these guys over the years um and feel materials in there um you know I've seen them but these young boys have never brushed shoulders with them so it's um it's always good for these younger Lads to uh to say it at all I saw the club at quarter time you wouldn't have seen this reenacting Ash s's Mark and I walked down the stairs with him at the end of the game I said M pop did you see them try to reate the mark he said mate they can never get as high as man he still loves it there's no way man that is the biggest Mark of all time L Ryan did his best I don't know if you did you see that way that was that could have been anything but I'm sure fly will have another one like that before he finishes G I
