we've got coach Dr quit here would you begin with an opening statement yeah I want to first uh start by thanking the crowd unbelievable atmosphere um again I'm just so appreciative students were were awesome St uh fans were in the stands uh and when we came out man that that atmosphere was electric obviously helped us to a fast start on defense um really really proud of of the way our defense is playing we've gone 12 straight quarters without allowing a touchdown for the first time since 1941 that's a three- game stretch without all allowing a touchdown to first time since uh 1935 with with back-to-back shutouts so impressive performance um by Cory baton and the rest of his staff and players um congratulations Brady cook pass bla Gabbert for number six all time in missou passing uh Theo whis had a career night in receptions and receiving yards so very uh congratulations to them uh Luther Burton uh has been dealing with the illness all week after he short his touchdown just didn't feel good we didn't feel like it was worth um putting back in the game so head that question off right there and uh yep with that uh what else y'all want to know coach with the whis you mentioned him yeah uh what can you share what did you see from him tonight the offense that yeah I mean they were giving us a lot of free access stuff um and so we you know I think that's a a sign of mature quarterback and play caller to continue to take what the defense gives us uh you know poor really you know the the frustrating thing for us offensively was we weren't able to uh sustain drives because of penalties um and you know we had two punts and two Miss field goals which um you know both the field goals were I mean just poor execution we should have been a lot closer on the end at the end of half and uh just some still things that we got to clean up but but pleased with Theo's job and and and and Brady taking advantage of it do you have any updates onon Johnson what did you think a job MIT Walter yeah cam got injured in a two-minute drill on Wednesday probably could have gone uh he was planning to play in case of emergency uh but just didn't want to risk it so you know Mitch Walters got the start tonight I thought he performed uh well from what I can recall obviously we had uh he had the one penalty but uh you know for the most part I thought he did a nice job coach speaking of the penalties specifically the holding calls is there a common denominator com yeah common denominator was we were the only team holding tonight they they uh you know they didn't get any penalties called on them I think it was 10 to two so you know got to go back and look at it uh to to see the tape uh to see exactly what their what their emphasis was so um you know I don't know I I didn't I couldn't see him on the fil on live but um I'm sure after I go back and watch the tape I'll see that you know we we got to do a better job of not holding Eli you talked about the defense but you haven't allowed to play longer than 18 yards just the consist and that was before half right on the inside slant that Tano jumped one of the runs right at the end but I mean basically every play they've been consistent just how impressive has that been with so many new faces and and new coach to to hit the ground run this quickly yeah I mean I think it's um our ability to we got a lot of depth over there and a lot of consistency and a lot of guys holding each other to a standard um and I think when you can just send waves of players who are fresh um continually I think that's you know hard on a on an offense and obviously coach Paton and Coach Smith uh have a really good feel for the game um coach yoro and Coach PO on the back end you know obviously sack a came alive tonight with the I think we had three DNS with sacks I think uh Chris mclen maybe got he told me he got another one I don't know as official or not but um so obviously the the front is doing a good job coach what do you make of Brady through two Gam uh we're two and 0 now we scored 38 and 51 so he scored 31 so very efficient um does a really nice job of tucking it and running it when we need to thought he had an excellent read on the Deep ball to Maris that got a penalty um so yeah I'm pleased with where we're at we just you know we're not we're not clicking at 100% just yet so that's good news man that's really good news for us I'd hate for us to be as good as we're going going to be all year outet back for the offense well it shows up when he's not there that we don't have quite the same uh repertoire stuff so you know he's a guy that we've got to continue to get the ball to and um I thought they you know I thought our offensive staff had a nice job of of having that plan ready for him um you know but obviously we got continue to get other people involved I thought mooki had a nice run down there uh on the last touchdown it must have been the third quarter uh that was a play that we we had designed for Luther but uh with him being out mooki was able to get in there and run it so that was good and you know we can use him in some of those opportunities I think he eclipsed a thousand yards receiving career receiving so pretty impressive stat by him today coach you you think about the ground game tonight the ground game yeah um I mean I thought we were doing a really good job obviously you know 10 penalties is always going to be an issue um several of them were alignment issues I mean we had three called back because um we either weren't on or we had too many people on and you know those are self-inflicted wounds that got to get cleaned up and put us behind the chains but I thought when we needed to run it we were able to run the football and I thought you know both um Marcus and Nate did a really good job complimenting each other I think one had 86 and one had had U or sorry 75 and 62 so pretty good as you say coach reaches the passing accomplishment tonight can you go into a little more detail as far as how you've watched him evolve as to when to tuck and run the decisiveness the decision making there um yeah I think it's just maturity I think he's maturing to understand when he needs to make a throw um and when you know everybody's covered he's not I think he understands that his his feet give him a a dimension that is really difficult on defenses you know when a quarterback can tuck and run the ball um it really puts you in a bind playing manto man and and make sure you have to really Rush with with Lane discipline and a lot of third down pressures now are overload pressures U junking up the front and if you're not Lane sound against Brady he's going to take off in fact today's touchdown uh right before half was actually supposed to be a tight end throwback and the tight end didn't release and so for him to tuck and go score right there unbelievable block by by Nate but you know I think another player who hasn't had the Reps or consistency would have panicked and maybe thrown the ball away he understood you know where the ball and where the void in the defense was and and made a heck of a play speaking of maturity a lot of teams in the first two weeks either come very close to or or do slip up in games that their big favorites what's it say about your team that have been able to come out and kind of focus just on this we can take care of business yeah I mean that was actually the pregame speech was um take advantage of opportunities and uh don't disrespect the fans or the game by assuming that the other team's not going to play we got to play as hard as we possibly can and um really proud of those guys tonight coach had three quarterback HS had pass deflection what is it like to see him kind of come on and what does that say about the depth of the D yeah really pleased with the way Joe has responded um I think he's he's continually been a guy who can play and create pressure and uh continuing to play really good football and um you know we gave it Ed a game ball to Eddie Kelly tonight Eddie's mom passed away unexpectedly Wednesday she was here uh the week before at the game and went home and had a medical emergency uh after practice on Wednesday and passed away and um for him to still be here and for our team to to play the way they did around him tonight whether it was the defense and that and that's who they said they were playing for um was a special special moment and a special thing for this Brotherhood and that's goes back to the opportunity that's why we were so just man you just don't know know life is precious and um you know you don't understand why but I do understand that God brought him here to be a part of our Brotherhood for us for this moment in time and so um y'all got to watch something special tonight for for our team to play our defense to play like that for Eddie so um yep anything else for Coach thank you
