Rickea Jackson Wants Her Respect From The WNBA

Intro all right so arguably one of the most underrated rookies in the WNBA is hands down Ria Jackson extremely talented he hasn't really been mentioned that much in a Ricky of the Year race for obvious reasons you know Caitlyn Clark's you know breaking a bunch of Records I think Caitlyn Clark got rookie the Year by a landslide right now but Ria has been good she got really overlooked because of her teammate Cameron Brink who suffered a ACL tier I believe so she kind of got overlooked a little bit she was mentioned but she didn't she never got the media attention that you know she necessarily deserved as of recent she went viral after a loss it got one .4 million views on Twitter says Ria Rickea Jackson After Tough Loss Jackson seemed emotional after a tough loss she only had three shot attempts in the second half despite scoring 16 points in the first if there's one thing you can say Why She Deserves Attention about all these rookies in this rookie class they all hate losing none of these rookies are are used to that losing they all come from winning programs the majority of the ones who are playing well but for RIA I think Ria definitely deserves some more attention being spoken about angel Reese Caitlin Clark have taken up so much of the headlines that we kind of lose track of some of the gems along the way and she's one of those players she won't get Rick of the air like I said I think Caitlyn Clark got that on lock but she's definitely somebody that's going to be a great player in WNBA it came out with the stat Right Behind Caitlin Clark?! today it says High highest field goal percentage at The Rim by a rookie this season Caitlin Clark lead was 60% and rakia is right behind her with 55% over Ria's last five games she's been like really hooping she got 25 points 17 points 14 points 15 points and then 13 points so she's been playing really good basketball last couple games this tweet came out and her response to this kind Rickea On Not Getting Talked About More of was kind of interesting to me I'm going to play the clip in a second but it says there's no reason rakia Jackson should not be in the rookie conversation she nailed her response to why she's not talked about more that's a good question for the media I don't know I can't tell them what to do what to post I mean I'm a pretty chill layback person I feel like I don't have to force nothing I don't have to act out my body like you know if I'm hyped up in the game I'm hyped up in the game if I'm chilling in the game I'm chilling like I don't have to like do too much I'm just true to who I am and the people who follow me the people who support me they know me for me like I don't have to you know feel like I got to grab all this attention and things like that I'm just me and I'm just going to continue to be that and the people that's with me they just they just know that so but I feel like it's trending like the people I got you know I want to do for the right reason so I don't got to do too much Her Response Was Interesting that Detroit came out in her in that response you know she had to she had to get back professional real fast but you could tell she got a good head on her shoulder she's playing really good basketball I'm going to show the clips at the end I thought that was an interesting response because she said something important she didn't have to act out her body or try to do stuff for attention so obviously that response shows that like she sees what's going on a lot of people feel like her coach been holding her back and I kind of could see it cuz now I think now she's really getting the opportunity to show her game see from her at least this season yeah Curt On Rickea Ria you know head was spinning in training camp we were playing her predominantly at the four with some three she was trying to learn two different positions learn all new terminology learn the physicality of our game understand the great players in this league to see where she was in May to where she is now is you know unbelievable um she has really been more determined um those last few games going into the break and out of the break to be a more impactful Defender so you know excited to see her that way cuz she has the unique ability to put the ball in the basket she has a real gift at the offensive end we've played her predominantly at three now and I think you can see that she has a chance to be a really special player in this league we talk about two rookies and rightfully so in this league but Ria is going to be a star for a long time and uh you know really proud of her and so what what I'm asking for her is to stay aggressive and continue to impact us we've been able to extend more we played her over 30 minutes uh she played you know no less than 27 minutes these first three games in 4 days minutes in the back to back so watching her be able to log um you know demanding minutes has have been a fun growth also you know this was not too Curt On Why She Belongs long ago but a lot of people were bringing this back up so it said during the post game coach Kurt Miller says there's not enough noise around what Ria Jackson is doing he also reminded the media that there's more than just a couple rookies in his class he has learned so much she really belongs there's not enough noise about what Ria Jackson is doing um she's game is slowing down for me not where I want to be yet but definitely tur in the right direction I feel like on a defensive end I'm flowing to the ball more trying to have my teammates back more not just worried about my person and you know playing a team more than once it kind of helps you get a feel for what they might do next time and I like I I'm growing and learning like teams Tendencies and things like that so that was means a lot coming from coach Kirk you know he likes to get on me so for him to give me a compliment me a lot I take that um and every time he he has for these comments not in the com conversation but I I do think she should be in the conversations like among the rookies now you know I already said as far as rookie of the year the Rookie of the Year Junk's already sealed pretty much but um I definitely do think she deserves more um attention for sure she's been hooping these last couple games you're probably going to hear about her more as the weeks go by you know cuz the way she's playing he's definitely a player that you know I think people will start paying attention to going into next season y'all don't know your thoughts on everything I thought that
