hockey fans the weight is finally over Montreal's women's professional hockey team now has a name a logo and an identity six pwl teams launched last year with only the city name and colors to distinguish them but this year they'll hit the ice with their official name the Montreal VTO the long wait for the team's identity was heightened by years worth of speculation Montreal Echo Le Canadien Le all names that were floated among fans no one really saw this one coming let's see what some fans had to say about it today is the big day okay now I'm going to show you the logo and I want to see what you think okay this is what it looks like cool I like that very nice I could see it I could see it like promoted throughout Montreal the team names a bit weird um I don't think it's something I would have chosen um but uh yeah the the logo's all right it's good it's giving a bit of Alouettes a bit I like the fact that vict sounds feminine in my opinion I like the fact that my name's Victoria and it says V the logo pays tribute to the rich cultural history of the city and the province with Quebec's national symbol the fliss in the middle it also symbolizes strength agility and dominance through the logos's wings and represents Montreal with the m between them League executive said they worked with a New York City based creative agency to help with the process they also brainstormed with pwhl employees who turned to fans to get a feel for the market we went through hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of names but I think when we saw that name we all loved it we felt it really um talk to the essence of Montreal as a city so uh I think it was one of those names that when it hit you you felt immediately good about it Montreal's players agree I love the fact that it's very above Quebec it's very Quebec like we have like the the symbol that is our national symbol the Florida list and the wings that does a m for Montreal so it's very uh it cannot be more Montreal than what it is yeah the colors are great I think like we need those colors all together it's our Montreal col like I mentioned a little bit it's gonna be a m you want to perform you want to bring out your best and just going to be what our team's going to Rally around the league says jerseys will be released in late October October or early November and the season is set to begin in late November or early December
