Davis Fire Operational Update - September 12, 2024

good morning John svantes operation section chief with Southwest Team 1 with your morning update for the Davis fire we'll start up here in the northern section in division Papa this area is looking really good we've put in a lot of containment line up on the Northern end of Papa here and working our way all the way down into division Zulu a lot of containments gone in there this community has repopulated there moving down into the South and to division Alpha resources did were able to hang on to this line here with some handline and hose laid down in that drainage and going to continue to build some depth in there mopping up up to 100 ft off the uh containment line in that area um expecting a level of containment in this uh Davis Creek area at the end of shift today moving up into the East and division Charlie there up near the ski area resources were able to hold that piece of line there through all that heavy wind that occurred last night and the day before you know winds in excess of 30 to 40 mph up there did a really outstanding job up there fire was held on the containment lines up there and we'll just continue to mop that area up um building more depth in there moving into the uh Northern portion of the joy Lake area right there uh that fire all held in there resources will continue to mop that up as well and moving down into the uh Joy Lake proper area here the fire Fire's Edge has not moved at all resources will continue to mop up in there things are looking really good in there just want to say one closing thing about uh the firefight that occurred yesterday afternoon uh you know we were really um really in a high state of of alertness with all that wind coming in from the south there South and and West there uh resources did an outstanding job um being able to hold it in its current footprint we had no peritter growth whatsoever in the past 24 hours so that is my update for the uh Davis fire
