a mother's grief for her lost daughter you think that Holly should have been collecting her gcsc exam results last week but instead our baby girl's future was cruy taken away from her we are grateful to the many people who have shown their support as we continue to navigate a life without Holly in it Holly Newton was just 15 when she was murdered in a vicious knife attack in January 2023 CCTV footage from the time showed Holly being followed around the streets of Hexum by the 16-year-old boy who minutes later would take her life she told her friends and family earlier that day that the boy had been stalking her when he eventually confronted her he attacked with a kitchen knife Holly suffered 36 wounds in a minute long assault that was so violent the knife broke a friend who tried to help her was also wounded the murder shocked and appalled the community of this small town in the Northeast many came to place tributes at the scene and later to mourn at her funeral today the boy was found guilty of Holly's murder and of wounding one of her friends who tried to intervene Holly was a very popular girl and is sorely missed by so many our thoughts very much continue with her loved ones and Friends following this devastating loss I also want to pay tribute to The Bravery of the boy who was attacked while coming to the ear of his friend fighting back the tears Holly's mother Michaela read out a statement in court in which she spoke about her beautiful child how they used to spend all their time together how she was a happy and funloving teenager and how she would do anything to make anybody laugh the judge said that the family should be praised for their fortitude and dignity throughout this swe trial Holly's killer said he blacked out during the attack and only carried a knife that day because he intended to harm himself he'll return to court in October to be sentenced for the murder of the happy vibrant young girl whose life he so cruy ended frasa M Sky News Newcastle
