we are Tracking not one but two name storms on the other side of North America in the Central and Eastern parts of the Pacific Ocean Category 3 hurricane Gilma and as well newly formed tropical storm hone which has its eye set upon the Hawaii islands as we head into late Sunday into Monday the system is going to be moving just Southwest of the big island but yes there's going to be impacts including some strong waves and even a little bit of some Gusty winds but of course the main aspect here is going to be the rainfall which we could be looking at over 75 to over 100 millimeters of rainfall across the big island now hurricanes are definitely rare across Hawaii mainly because of the presence of a strong subtropical Ridge North of the islands which steers hurricanes south and west of the Hawaii islands now the last one that did make a direct impact was hurricane in Nikki in September 1992 [Music] [Music]
