15 WILD QB Battles For the 2024 College Football Season...

Intro the 2024 college football season is fastly approaching and everybody's wondering who their starting quarterback is going to be for the most part I'd say that 80% of their schools have figured out who their starter is going to be and who they're going to ride with for the season for that little minority of schools though there is a quarterback battle going on and it is getting absolutely ferocious right now and today I want to introduce to you 15 quarterback battles that are seemingly still going on and we're going to talk about where the schools are that have battles who the guys are competing for the job and who I think should win and how they'll do but before we get started if you're a big fan of college football be sure to subscribe to the channel leave a like if you want to support today's video and let me know what player team topic or situation I can cover next now let's get started and talk about 15 quarterback battles for the 2024 college football season okay so Pitt the first quarterback battle I want to talk about is with the Pittsburgh Panthers after they had Kenny picket become a star a couple years ago pit has struggled to find their guy Keen slovis was very underwhelming and last year Phil jovic was horrible this year they'll have two guys competing for the job and that'll be Eli Holstein and Nate jarnell it looks like jarnell is a little bit in the driver seat to win the job but holin was a 6'4 quarterback from Zachary Louisiana who was a four-star player and had over 7,000 yards in his prep career he decided to go to B for the 2023 season but he would transfer to Pittsburgh he's probably the more talented of the bunch but it seems like he's a little bit behind Nate yarell is currently probably going to be the starter and he's a 6'6 quarterback from Austin Texas he went to the his hisor Lake Travis High School and he actually was really great during his time there he ended up becoming a three-star recruit and passed for 1500 yards and 17 touchdowns as a senior he decided to enroll at pit in 2021 and did not play he played in two games starting one in 20122 then this past year he started the final two games against Boston College and Duke he threw for 595 yards and four touchdowns looking at the spring game in Fall Camp it looks like Pit's not super confident in any of the guys they have but it looks like Nate Yarnell be the starter week one at 6'6 he's an intriguing option but for now I think pits in a little bit of a difficult spot at the quarterback position up next Coastal we're to go down south to Conway South Carolina as Coastal Carolina looks to attempt to replace Grayson McCall luckily they have three decent options as they have Tad Hudson Noah Kim and Ethan Vasco that's actually quite a weird battle as Tad Hudson at one point was seen as the future of North Carolina football coming out of hunterville North Carolina Tad Hudson was a four-star recruit and threw for 3,000 yards and 22 touchdowns during his senior season and after a true freshman season in which he didn't see the field he transferred over to Coastal Carolina where he's likely the third option right now second option is probably Noah Kim he ended up going to Westfield High School in Virginia and became a three- star recruit and eventually decided to sign with Michigan State he red shirted in 2021 and played in four games in 2022 he ended up beating out K Hower for the starting job in 2023 and decided to end up transferring after he just wasn't all that good he did actually miss some time due to injury but he decided to transfer over to Coastal as well or he's in the thick of it with Ethan Vasco Vasco has been seen as the next great Coastal Carolina quarterback for quite some time now as he actually was at Kansas at one point he went to Oscar F Smith High School and was rated as a three star recruit he ended up throwing for nearly 10,000 yards and 134 touchdowns and after red shirting as a freshman at Kansas in 2022 he would transfer to Coastal right now it looks like he's going to be the starter I'm actually quite intrigued to see what he's going to do but Coastal has one of more interesting quarterback rooms in the country going back up to the power four Vanderbilt level we have Vanderbilt after losing both Ken seals and AJ Swan to the transfer portal they will now bring in both Diego Pavia and Nate Johnson the two could not be any more different Nate Johnson was a four-star recruit from Clovis High School in California and he played a little bit as a starter last year for Utah he ended up putting up decent numbers but ultimately he did not look ready and they were definitely missing cam Rising Johnson decided to transfer to Northwestern and then Diego Pavia would join him later on he went to Volcan Vista High School in New Mexico and after spending time at New Mexico Military Institute he ended up signing to play with the New Mexico State agies where he became the 2023 Conference USA player of the year he ended up putting up big time numbers and is one of those guys who's gritty and just gets wins New Mexico state had a great season under Jerry Hill and he has now transferred to Vanderbilt where I think he will be the starter by no means will Pavia be the number one overall pick but he's a gutsy gritty quarterback who I think is exactly what Vanderbilt needs right now there's a battle but I think Pavia wins the job it's weird saying saying that Washington state is on a power five school but they aren't new head coach Jake Dicker has to replace cam Ward who transferred to Miami and he has two interesting options you have John mattier or zei eous both of them right now are battling out in Camp and apparently Dicker City's going to name a starter later on this week zei ended up going to Culver City High School in California and was essentially a zero star recruit even though he passed over 10,000 yards in his career didn't really matter he ended up spending 3 years at Bryant where he was not only the Big South offensive player of the year but also a first team allc conference selection and he threw for 3,000 yards and 28 touchdowns last year e house enrolled and he will now compete against John maer who has been waiting for his opportunity for a little bit of time now he ended up going to Little Elm High School in Texas and after a high school career in which he threw for 2200 yards as a senior he would end up signing with Washington State in 2022 he appeared in one game in 2022 and then last year came off the bench as the backup to Ward and played in all 12 games throwing for 235 yards well right now it is a neck and neck battle between mattier and eous I think eous is going to win the job because of his experience going back to Wake Forest the power five level we're going to talk about Wake Forest after they ended up losing Mitch griffi Wake Forest has two new quarterbacks they have both Michael karna and Hank bchm who both are intriguing options BM was a four-star recruit coming out of high school and ended up spending time at both Boise State and Louisiana Tech he's a pretty big name for the Broncos but he will now use his final year of Eligibility to try to make it work with the Demon Deacons I'd say he probably is going to be the guy die but Michael curan is also fighting for it he ended up coming out of Orlando Florida and went to Lake Nona high school and has spent 5 years with Wake Forest he enrolled in January of 2019 and since then he's just appeared in mop-up Duty he only ended up starting one game in the 2023 season and while he has been in the program for a while and has that start to his name bm's more experienced and probably has a higher ceiling so I think bachmeyer wind up winning the job Diego Pavia obviously transferred over to Vanderbilt so the New Mexico State agies at to find not only a new head coach but also a new quarterback Parker Awad ended up going to Edison High School in California and has had kind of a weird career he ended up going to Golden West College before he arrived here and apparently is quarterback number two fighting for that starting position the main guy though is going to be Duce Hogan he ended up going to Grapevine Faith Christian School in South Lake Texas and Hogan has kind of been all over the place he originally decided to go to Iowa but he would not end up making it and I believe he was the guy that Kirk fence kind of threw a jab at in a press conference so he went over to Kentucky and became a backup and is now at New Mexico state where I think he will end up being the starter who knows though I don't really pay that much attention to New Mexico State football another team that's in a very Stanford interesting spot is the Stanford Cardinal their new head coach has been trying to turn things around over the last 18 months and now he has a couple of intriguing quarterback options the first one is obviously Ashton Daniels Daniels ended up becoming a three-star recruit and actually started a couple of games last year for the Cardinal he made 10 starts last season throwing for 2200 yards and 11 touchdowns but apparently he is being pushed very hard by Elijah Brown if you don't know who that is he is a quarterback from matter day who is the number 11 quarterback in the class of 2024 he's a huge name as he threw for 115 touchdowns and over 9,000 yards as a four-year starter he's apparently come in right away impress the coaching staff and he's making a run at the starting gig what I ultimately think will happen is Daniels ends up being the starter to start out but then Elijah Brown takes over by the end of the year he is the future of the program and Troy Taylor should go all in on him the next UTEP quarterback battle we need to talk about is over at utap first year head coach Scotty Walden is now focusing on figuring out who his quarterback's going to be and it'll be between Cade McConnell and Skyler locher last year McConnell had to step in after injuries would hit but they also brought in a big time transfer from Austin P by the name of Skyler locher as I said McConnell was an unranked recruit coming out of high school and actually went to Los Alamitos and now he's probably going to try to be the guy he played in the final seven games last year for UTEP throwing for, 1400 yard s and six touchdown passes Skyler lley on the other hand comes in from Cleveland High School and he first went to Austin P he played two seasons for them and actually barely got a chance to play he's actually a pretty solid player but right now I think Kade McConnell will probably end up being the starter just because of his experience North Carolina has been doing well at the quarterback position the last decade as they had guys like Mitchell trabis Sam Howell and most recently Drake May who will be the next great tar Heroes quarterback well they have three options currently they have jacobe Kris will who was a big time recruit coming out of high school and he actually started out at UNC went to Arkansas and has since come back I think he's the third man in the job though after that you have another couple of players such as Max Johnson and Connor Harold Harold was one of the better High School quarterbacks in his class in 2022 and put up huge numbers while he was in Alabama he ended up having 6,100 yards and 81 touchdowns in his final two years and led his team to a state championship he enrolled at UNC in 2022 and last year he started against West Virginia in the Dukes Mayo bow he ended up throwing for 270 yards and two touchdowns they also have Max Johnson who was a huge recruit coming out of high school and he went to LSU and started some games there he started in 2021 and then transferred to Texas A&M for 2022 and 2023 and kind of was underwhelming and battled injuries the past two seasons he'll go to UNC looking to be the starter and ultimately I'd say that Max Johnson's probably going to start week one but Conor Harold may be starting by the end of the year as he's more athletic has more potential and has been in the system going across the Boise State country to talk about the quarterback battle that is going on in Boise State after the Broncos just lost their Star Quarterback ton green to the portal to Arkansas they are now tasked with replacing him the first option is going to be Maddox Madson as he ended up going to American Fork High School in Utah last year as a red SHP freshman he became a two-time Mountain West Freshman of the week as he threw for 1,191 yards and nine touchdowns and ended up starting one total game he was a three star recruit coming out of high school and he will battle it out with a guy who you could could say is pretty high profile Malachi Nelson was the number two quarterback in his class at one point and was considered a top five player he ended up falling a little bit by the end of his recruitment but was still a top 15 player and a five-star he signed on to be the future of USC football and Lincoln Riley's next great quarterback but after just one pass completion in 2023 he saw the riding on the wall gave the job to Miller moss and is now since gone to Boise State unfortunately for him though it is not guaranteed he wins the job it actually looks like Maddox has the upper hand as he spent more time in the system and has been playing well I don't know if that's a testament to how good Maddox is or maybe how underwhelming Malachi has been honestly I want to see Nelson win the job just because of his potential and pedigree but it looks like Maddox will be the starter week one after one year Oregon State with DJ yuang L Oregon state will now have to move in a complete New Direction they lost both Jonathan Smith and Aiden Charles so Trent Bray is now back as head coach and he said there's a three-man quarterback battle the first guy who's probably not going to happen is Jabari Johnson as he came out of Lincoln High School and actually was at missou last year but now is transferred in he was a four-star recruit and while as of a couple days ago Trent Bray said there's three men competing for the job I think Jabari Johnson's probably not going to make it after that you have a guy who's been in the system for a while in Ben go Branson and transfer javanni McCoy javanni McCoy is an interesting one he ended up becoming the Jerry Rice Award winner for FCS freshman of the year in 2022 and has played 26 games over the last three years for Idaho he decided to transfer over to Oregon State and in total had nearly 6,000 passing yards and 43 touchdowns he's a really intriguing option but benle Branson has been in the system for a couple of years now he went to Newberry Park High School in California and is now been with the Beavers since the 2020 season he was a three- star recruit while he was in high school and apparently is probably going to be the guy I would say that gold Branson starts in week one but he'll have a short leash javanni McCoy might have more of a ceiling and might actually be better so I think by the end of the year McCoy starts and then Jabari Johnson's the dude of the future but for now go Branson should be the starter in week one going over to the Big 10 we Maryland have to talk about Maryland's quarterback battle after they lost one of their best quarterbacks in school history at Talia Tong of aloa to the NFL they'll have a two-man battle between MJ Morris and Billy Edwards Jr MJ Morris was a huge recruit coming out of Carolton Georgia who was the first true freshman quarterback to started NC State since Philip Rivers he ended up playing pretty well that year and then last year he took over and actually played extremely well but he was kind of controversial because he opted out the rest of the season but apparently there was more going on behind the scenes there Morris has since transferred to Maryland and while he may have a better arm and more of a ceiling he's going to be battled out with Billy Edwards Jr he ended up going to Lake bradock High School in Springfield Virginia and was just a three star recruit he spent a couple of years so far in college football as he ended up at Wake Forest for one year where he would red shirt as a red shirt freshman in 2022 he appeared in seven games in which two of them he started and then last year he actually started their Music City Bowl game against Auburn both of them are intriguing options and while Billy Edwards may have more experience and more time in the system I think that ultimately MJ MO his ceiling is probably a little bit higher and they're probably going to go with him another really Virginia interesting quarterback battle is going on in Virginia last year Tony musket was the starter for week one but he ended up getting benched in favor of Anthony colandrea and colandrea looked like a future star going back in time musket was a pretty big transfer after he spent a couple of years at Monmouth but honestly he was much more of a game manager last year maybe he commanded Tony Elliott's offense a little bit better but Anthony Collin Rea had that it factor in that lightning to his game he set single season records for freshman quarterbacks at Virginia with 1,958 yards and that was actually the most amongst any true freshman power five quarterback still though there is apparently a quarterback battle but I'm going to say Anthony colandrea gets the start and actually becomes a pretty fun player for Virginia the Iowa offense has Iowa been a Marvel the last few years and apparently now they have a quarterback battle everybody thought that Kade mcnamar was going to be the starter but apparently he has been so bad recently that there's actually a quarterback competition apparently in a recent scrimmage m went eight of 24 for 20 yards he also had an interception and it's not like the other competition Brendan Sullivan's been much better he transferred in from Northwestern but it looks like new OC Tim Lester's going to have work on his hands both of the quarterbacks look absolutely terrible and that's to Iowa standards the Iowa offense might be worse than we've ever seen but who knows maybe they're just bluffing ultimately I think mcam will probably get the job but he'll have a short leash Brendan Sullivan comes in with starting Big 10 experience so it'll be hard to keep him off the field if Kate is as bad as advertised still though I'm going to cut him some slack because he ended up having that injury last year finally we go over to Ann Arbor where there is a quarterback battle currently they have Five Guys Alex orgy Jack Tuttle Davis Warren Jaden denal and Jaden Davis Jaden Davis was a five-star recruit at one point but ended up falling outside the top 100 and he's a true freshman who probably won't play right away you have Davis Warren a former walkon who's been in the program for a couple of years you have Jen dagal a guy who was seen as a project quarterback then you apparently have the two main options which are Alex orgy and Jack Tuttle Jack tuttles had a winding college career in which he spent time at both Utah and Indiana before becoming a backup and getting hurt last year he's apparently been playing pretty well and has a good commander of the offense but ultimately the starter I think will be Alex orgy he's kind of a freak athlete and he came in during the same class as Jon denal and he also played some important snaps last year he's definitely pretty quick on his feet but is he good enough to lead a Michigan offense to the playoff in year one and keep the Michigan standard that I don't really know at this point some think Alex orgy could be the next Jaylen milro and others think he won't last a quarter either way I think he'll end up being the starter at first but any four of those other guys could see the field shiron Moore is not going to be that afraid and it looks like Michigan will probably rely on their ground game a lot so it won't be that big of a deal so Outro yeah today I talked about 15 different quarterback battles for the 2024 college football season
