first time since 2009 overall in 2006 at the US Open we will have an American man in a major final it will be either Taylor fritz or Francis tifo it's been a long time coming been talking about both of these guys been talking about this moment forever Chanda now when it comes to this match Taylor has dominated he's won the last six against tifo what are your early thoughts well Francis chfo though has been here before he has played in a major semi-final maybe that gives him a little bit of an advantage especially at the start of this match and I do think the beginning will be important who can get that first set tucked away I mean we look at a three out of five set match and it seems like you've got time it doesn't matter if you get off to a poor start but I think the start is going to matter and certainly Taylor Fritz he's going to bring the big game the big serve he's so clean from the ground fritzes and he has been aggressive inside the court but so has Francis TFO so I think it's going to be a rush to see who can get forward I expect Francis tafo to make a few more four Rays into the net early I think that's going to be the key to victory for him and for Fritz if he can play like he did against verev if he can bring the serve if he can look to step in on returns especially second serve opportunities and just control the Baseline I think that's his path to Victory but we've got some intangibles here who can handle the nerves who can handle the moment the pressure all of that's going to come into play it's going to be a terrific match for us to watch maybe not so easy to play but hopefully they can both enjoy it and and play their best tennis I'm curious what you guys make of that head-to-head and how much of that is about X's and O's and and playing on Taylor's preferred surface and his Superior Sur how much of this is about the intangibles that chandel references and whether it's healthy rivalry or whether it's who's using the crowd I mean I'm not sure if Taylor is prepared to go go play your first major semi-final at your home major and it's probably going to be about 7030 Francis in part because of the way he uses the crowd I'm curious what you guys make of the head-to-head and how much of this is inside the Baseline and how much of this is sort of the the the other aspects of this that's a that's a brilliant Point John I I mean under normal circumstances you would you would say this dominant head-to-head you lean heavily towards Taylor but this is Uncharted Territory for for many reasons yes Francis has been here before and he played that brilliant match with alcarez he almost made the final so he can at least draw from that Taylor you got to get over the fact that oh my gosh I finally got over the hump here and sink back into this is just another match and let's also not forget these are two Americans this is not the French Open the Australian Open This is the US Open either of these guys going to that final match that's going to be career changing deal wise everything you just go into a different stratusphere especially if you're able to win the title so I think a lot of it goes out the window and it's who can handle the moment and these emotions better yeah and you wonder CU throughout this tournament the crowd's been behind both of them massively will it be 50/50 will it be 7030 like you know who's going to get that extra little bump from those fans inside Arthur Ash Stadium
