hi i'm adam christopherson i'm the founder and director of musical intervention we've been downtown new haven for over six and a half years we've opened our doors to all kinds of people one population in particular is those struggling in addiction we provide a safe drug and alcohol free space that's open throughout the week and it's free to come in grab a guitar off the wall jam with other musicians a lot of people coming through are struggling with what do they do with their day-to-day life they hang out on the new haven green with a bunch of people sometimes get into trouble sometimes overdose and we have lost people along the way in this devastating epidemic that we face however the memories that we have are incredible they celebrate their lives in music and celebrate their lives in community and begin to give hope to those around them it's our hope to be able to build this stronger and make it more available to more people because the people that come through our doors cherish the moments that they have there and in a very complex society when you add addiction and mental health struggles into it sometimes all you need is a community that's supportive and encouraging to be able to engage yourself in creative ways to approach the ultimate recovery i hope you uh choose us and i hope that we can work together and build this model out to serve many more people thank you so that's the much easy [Music]
