hit hot Deuces Wild [ __ ] oh my goodness hello there my my sun glass friend how are we today well I had to put these on CU these are the Fernando tatis junor 100% sunglasses that apparently he wasn't wearing in the Outfield the other day yeah and he missed a [ __ ] ball you have your own sunglass line dude you got your own sunglass line please wear your sunglasses during the day game when you're looking into the Sun so you don't drop a Fly ball and let the other team win how about you know what you know what happens sometimes is as an outfielder you'll go out to the Outfield and you're not even thinking about it especially you don't hit with the sunglasses and then you run out there and you don't have them you're like ah [ __ ] man do I really want to call time out to go in and the answer to that during a day game when the sun is shining to your field is of course you [ __ ] do without a shadow of a doubt hey thrill uh a couple things I've noticed year number one I like you know normally during the weekdays I'll have a couple glasses of wine I drink every night but it's it's moderate right and then on Tuesdays though of course they're special so I break into the tequila and I just noticed here that this is the sin Soro the Michael Jordan Tula as you notice like this was up here and now it's [ __ ] G uh but wait here is the kigo 1530 tequila and we're probably talking about one drink maybe and then lastly of course the Claus aul it's a little man [ __ ] hey hey you gotta when you do the claz AO you got to ring the bell Tommy Luke in the audience he rings the bell go ahead ring it ring that damn thing hold on hold oh come on there you go ring the bell he's out of Dodge claz aul is G it's good man it's actually really good I'm gonna pour whatever is left in here and there's not much it's just I I'm like wow we've done a really good job of ripping through these you different bottles of tequila and speaking of speaking of of ripping through bottles of tequila whatever happened to our uh trusted 816 or 819 tequila sponsor where the hell they go 818 tequila yeah that's do that one that stuff sucked all right see you you're gone we need to get we need to get a better tequila sponsor that's what we need all right while while we're talking this right here all right before we get cranked up okay I was in San Francisco last week with the team and as per normal Trey Clark loves to go to baseballism which is right down the street from the hotel across the street from the ballpark and our friends at baseballism came out with a new shirt and baseball themed and for all you people that don't know what that means that's three up three down that is a baseball theme yay so people at baseballism thank you so much for all y'all do appreciate it the thrill and his son Trey Love popping in seeing the new stuff keep it coming so thrill I got to be totally honest like you know as a kid I had some problems staying in class problems focusing so they thought something was wrong IQ issue whatever might have to send me to a special school all good uh but then they took me in there and I went through this task had a problems get through the task and they're like like well we think something more is going on so I was actually diagnosed with ADHD uh surprise surprise and surprise surprise so with the diagnosis you know came an IQ test and the how they actually figured out was ADH is I I [ __ ] scored off the charts on this IQ test like off the so with that I've got to be totally honest I couldn't see the bottom of your shirt but all I could think of I'm like this has to have something to do with Babe Ruth I wasn't thinking three up three down but it's [ __ ] genius three up three down the old uh the old adage in baseball this is what most teams try to do is three batters come to the plate three batters get out but there's not a lot of teams that can do that okay so on the flip side as you guys can see I'm wearing the Oakland Athletics Jersey I had an opportunity to go there on Sunday thrill and d i you know I went there I signed autographs with Dallas Braden and Adam Rosalez a couple of really good dudes did an interview before the game did a couple interviews during the game had a chance to sit down next to Dallas Braden for I think you know inning and a half two innings was was really cool uh and then and by the way everybody everybody complimented us on the podcast oh man hell yeah we can't get enough of you and thrill keep it coming so Dallas was all over it Chris towns in the other AG broadcaster all over it and it it's nice to get that feedback so you know super cool so anyhow ended up um spending the afternoon there took biscuit and some of the ltp boys out on the field the one thing I really enjoyed and you get this and I I'm I'm not jealous of much but I am jealous of this time that you still get to spend and you do the five minutes that I sat down next to Mark Kat Bobby Crosby Eric Martin and Mike Al Drey before the game I'm like Whoa man this is what I miss this right yeah you know I mean it's it's the good dudes and you know you're able to keep your hands in it a little bit and get a chance talk shop with them and you know kind of kind of Reminisce about some of the stuff back in the day so that was it reminisced about some of the stuff back in the day but also talk about what's going on now and then I mean I think we got it all in five minutes of sitting on the bench from K talk [ __ ] [ __ ] uh about my first pitch to uh apparently you know us back in the video room back in the day to a party like it was just so many different angles that the conversations were going I just [ __ ] love it I me that's that's it that's everything man that's why look we played the game because we love the game but the things and the memories that I really take with me I I more of them obviously I think happened off the field that actually happen on so talking about you know happening off the field and you know you got your jersey and I gave you know I gave our uh people at baseballism a little plug tell me about the Jersey because uh first off it's a little big on you so they must have either did something wrong got the wrong size whatever so what's up with that tell me about the Jersey well it's okay CRA paig who I met out in the parking lot she's been with since 1998 to her defense she's like what size jersey and I she's like 48 and I I don't [ __ ] know I knew I'm obviously not as big as I was the shoulders aren't as broad but I like my jerseys a little bigger anyway yeah so it's all good it's not a big deal well when we got there she had this jersey for me and I you know I I put the Jersey on I didn't even think anything of it I'm like man this looks clean and so I actually had some white pants on as well and it the whole fit in my humble opinion looked really good well later in the day the game was over we're walking back to the car I take off The Jersey I actually didn't take the Jersey off I take that back I kept the Jersey on until we got until uh we got to a gas station and then we I was going into the Starbucks and I'm like I can't wear my own Jersey into the Starbucks oh hell yeah and then Biscuit's like I do it you know what pimp it baby you're [ __ ] right Starbucks he bringing it he bringing it and I'm I'm gonna see if anybody notices so I go in there and sure enough they you know like no what like not even blinking an eye somebody even walked by and complimented me not on the Jersey it was on my sunglasses like hey man I like your glasses and then oh the other thing I got two compliments when I was in there neither one were on my jersey the first were the sunglasses and then the other one was on is on your dude the double the double bird flippy chain so I then you know get back in the car make the drive home that's it and I'm taking it off and all of a sudden it hit me oh these are the new jerseys that we talked so much about at the beginning of the season right and I'm like well let's check out the differences so I started with the swoosh I'm like I don't know it's throwing on me I kind of did it the I spoos this right here it's all cool Athletics it looks like everything else the 22 right here and that's when I'm like oh the 22 wait hold on a second what don't tell me don't tell me that that's ironon it's [ __ ] ironon no you have to be kidding me that's like grade school type of stuff dude so what the hell they just can't get a jersey made like they knew you were coming so in other words what happened was somebody dropped the ball and at the last second they go oh [ __ ] we need a jersey for Eric let's freaking iron on some patches that's [ __ ] that right there is why the freaking Oakland A's are moving right there second R type of [ __ ] that they do are the other Big League jerseys iron on hell no are you sure are you sure all of the ones we got to sewed on my jersey sewed on okay so I'm going to take it a step further though because I then went to the back of the Jersey to compare oh this you know seems like the same Jersey that I wore in my time in Oakland and once again we got the iron I mean let me get really oh my God so you guys can see that's [ __ ] iron on right oh my god dude we got we got we got a seamstress inhouse that when guys get called up or sent down she's sewing [ __ ] on there but wait there's more wait there's more this just even in camera right here you're like it just says Burns it looks great now check out the size of the name in proportion to everything else [Laughter] this isn't toak this is this is my God MB needs to change it because all the names are small I I'm not making this about Oakland I don't know if the ironon is just Oakland or what and San Francisco have said no [ __ ] it we're gonna do the you know the Stitch and whatever but I will guarantee this this is ironed on the name is fall dude that is so funny that is so funny right there there oh my God the quality is actually really good though I do like the dry fit type you know material that they have so thrilled I'm G to go back and I'm going to compare it to now this is a jersey that I got in 2018 when I was named to the Oakland A's 50th Anniversary team right 50 players voted on I remember I remember I remember very grateful so this is Kelly Green right this is literally I mean for all I know this is like real [ __ ] gold but more importantly it's stitched in like really stitched baby here it ain't eared on the 22 whatever now we turn around and we notice that's a [ __ ] name yeah and that's the right size of the name too right so let's let put we gotta compare and contrast ladies and gentlemen that is why we laugh and giggle at certain organizations that cut Corners it's that kind of [ __ ] that you sit there and you go that's a cheap ass organization hold on New Jersey New Jersey New Jersy no that's the piece of [ __ ] Jersey that's a Jersey [ __ ] Jersey so you'll wonder why we were complaining about this over and over and over and over and over and over again it's [ __ ] right here the [ __ ] is this oh my God I'm gonna wear this rest hey what a beauty hey while you're uh putting your jersey on let's do the uh bet on baseball oh yeah how about that why you doing that yeah let's run through that real quick bet online or number one gambling destination bet online go to bet online to get the latest news scores odds predictions even live Lin but after the game stick around because we got poker Blackjack we got I think even online roulette if not you go to the slots they say it unwind look if you're a degenerate there is no better spot we are degenera here no better spot for you to go than to bet online the you're getting better and better than you're sticking a few little Jabs in there too nice job nice job so sponsors all right I mean come on Leslie short and Jose Manu let's go let's go we need more title sponsors because he's running out of breath and I can talk about other things so there you go let's do that we certainly do so thrill talk to me about your time in San Francisco I mean just an amazing experience at the Autism Awareness night I was there got to see that yeah no unbelievable uh you know thank you guys for coming uh Linda and Rodolfo was there Big Mike and and Jason and his wife and Mike and his wife thank y'all for being there Josh was there um you know with his wife so a lot of fun you know doing the triple Zally appearance beforehand the Giants need to do a better job and I've discussed this with them um they kind of Rush in there rushed me out of there and I actually showed up early to make sure that I signed autographs for everybody and I didn't get around to doing that even though I had signed 250 autographs on these Will Clark bobblehead card things I had signed 250 of those so everybody at the event got an autograph but you know everybody wants some personal stuff so I told the Giants they need to do a better job next year for you know my time and dealing with the fans a little a little bit more especially you know the autistic kids we left out of the Tripes Alle appearance went on the field um you know we we did a a Q&A usually there's a check presentation but they did away with that for whatever reason so had a Q&A out on the field for about four or five questions and then went up into sweet level and uh went and saw some uh some of the people that were up on the sweet level and uh schmoo them a little bit and then uh yeah watch watch the uh Giants play a ball game uh game Chapman hit a two-run double in the eigh that that propelled us to a win but other than that they didn't play extremely well at all while I was there it was uh H let's say not good brand to baseball while I was there so I told you that I was sitting right by that sign I forget which sign it was but it was a national it was a National Car Rental sign and I I told Trey I'm like Trey look for Mr Eric out there I said he's going to try to dive for a home run ball and all that and the ball that Chapman hit was like right by you right there dude I was so confident I had my glove I'm like I'm catching a homer night there's just no question about it oh yeah and we get to the A and there was Chapman and he hit this ball dude my eyes lit up I came up and I just needed a little more sale just that much more of a launch angle I'm [ __ ] sticking this thing you needed you needed a little bit more trajectory but as it was as soon as after Chapman hit that and all that I told Trey I said Trey I was expecting Mr Eric to jump out the stands and catch that one I 1,000% would have stuck my glove over the fence into the field of play and taking that [ __ ] I promise you and I would have gone out in handcuffs and I would have been good with it you'd have been like yeah I'm not gonna I'm not gonna go onto the field but I felt like as a fan paid good money for those tickets if I'm gonna sit there and I want to reach on to the [ __ ] field I'm gonna reach onto the field and yeah and guess what like if you don't want me reach on the field move the stands back there you go there you go it'd be like it'd be like the old Candlestick where they had the rugby scrums going on out there it's freaking hysterical watching that [ __ ] yeah dude it's fun being out in the bleachers I actually right when I got out there and I told you I was getting a ball and I as soon as I got out there uh whoever was in center field for the Marlins like gets it immediately boom last row turns me like I'm literally like walking up the steps I go like this he goes snag I I get it right away hold it hold it up in the air everyone around me is like and I go like this like like hold it up to the crowd take it give it to the little girl in the front row ah yay the hero the hero ladies and gentlemen nicely done I should have had my cell pH I should been like selfing it as this was happening nicely done that that's a that's a class act nice job nice job but um yeah now was uh you know just sit there and you shake your head you know you and I talked about it uh we we've said it in the chat room we've said it everywhere but you know the Giants were in August playing a lot of teams under 500 and they came out of August legitimately 500 they were like 1414 or 145 15 14 whatever it was and you know that was the time for us to make a move and get back in the middle of it and as it is now we're eight games out of wild card so we're not eliminated but we better find a way to win out so thrill uh what do you see when it comes to the GI like they had a great game on Sunday in San Diego won that one they brought their bats the young pitchers me right yeah I mean you know hey you know we talked about this and and you know it from playing the sport you know when when you got when you got young guys coming up you're going to make young guy mistakes but you hope that they learn from it and you know another thing that we have been just absolutely devastated with the last few years is injuries it's like Jesus Christ we can't keep the same team out on the field much less the same pitching staff you know I mean you know Robbie Ray comes back he makes a few starts boom he's back on the DL you know Hicks was Hicks was doing well as a starter and then he put him in the bullpen and all of a sudden boom he's on the on the DL and you know I mean it's like trying to Kyle Harrison's on a deal so now you got three guys who are supposed to be part of your rotation they're all on a DL and so tonight a perfect example they starting Landing rot so we're GNA have a bullpen game tonight yeah what happened to Harrison Harrison's got some sort of uh uh let me let me see real quick I mean this is it the left shoulder inflammation an MRI on September 5th revealed a mild left shoulder inflammation and he was placed on the IL and Bob Melvin said there's a possibility the Lefty won't pitch again this year because uh he's had a lot of innings which is a career high for him and so they might just shut him down for the rest of the year yeah why would he right yeah it's 11 nothing Atlanta by the way in Washington God you got Vargas pitching I pretty sure that's a position player wow uh some good races though coming down the stretch we're looking at the Padres Dbacks and Mets all right there the Braves just a half game back the Cubs hanging off for dear life five back the cards six and a half but I mean they're [ __ ] done too huh yeah diam Diamondbacks have been looking good yeah no Diamondbacks been looking real good and actually the Padres were looking good up until we beat them two out of three but you know we're playing you know Central division leaders Milwaukee uh we we didn't play well at their place so hopefully we can play well at our place then we got the Padres then we got the Orioles coming in believe it or not I mean the Orioles you know they been having a great year the whole year they're in second place to the Yankees because they lost a few ball games here lately but they've been doing great and then Kansas City and the Diamondbacks are coming in so you know this this last stretch that's why I was telling you August was so important for the Giants because this last stretch right here for the for the September uh schedule is a little on a tough side so thr tonight Kyle schwarber hit his record setting 14th lead off home run of the season I he's a guy that's obviously not Fleet of foot he's not necessarily A a guy that you would think of as a prototypical leadoff hitter yet he hits leadoff he can absolutely bang he's got some serious Pop I wouldn't classify him as a quote unquote great hitter in the grand scheme of things uh but I I just ask you this one question should Kyle schwarber even be [ __ ] hitting lead off you know that's that's the thing you know and I don't I don't get you know the theory behind it um you know you got a guy that can bang like that generally those guys are in the middle of the lineup they're not hitting lead off you know yeah because you want them to touch up one and have a lot of guys on base and you know why he's hitting lead off I don't know uh I don't know maybe he's one of those guys that don't like to hit runs in scoring position he just likes lead off I don't know who knows yeah but I don't think they're really kind of giving him this big Choice he look he's he has a really high on base percent I mean he's got it he's got an 868 Ops he's hitting 251 on the season 35 homers 95 driven in so you know not terrible yeah no I mean 35 35 and 95 from the leadoff spots pretty damn good so that means you know maybe maybe they're on to something they're they're you know loading up the seven eight and N slots for guys getting on coming back around the second time in the order he struck out 200 times in 2022 220 or 215 times in 2023 and 176 times in 20 24 he's got the 372 on base percentage which of course is terrific I just I'm not putting him in a lead off I'm just not doing it man I I don't why I I want I want my I want my Sluggers hitting with guys on base I mean the only thing I think of are they trying to buy him more fast balls and he's a good fastball hitter you got me I mean I I don't know I mean I mean that's like you know talked to Bob Melvin about like cair hitting lead off and Bob flat out told me he said cair wanted to hit lead off he didn't want to hit four or five I go you gotta be kidding me so anyway so who knows might be schwarber's personal preference who knows but you know for me personally if I'm a slug I want to be in the middle of the order and driving a lot of runs okay well something else happened tonight uh in Philadelphia the benches cleared after Nick castanos was hit uh here's how it went down tensions flared late in the Phillies n for win over the Rays on Tuesday night at C Bank Park with both benches clearing after Nick cion was hit by a pitch in the eighth inning Tampa Bay Pitcher Edwin useta who hit casianos in the back was ejected from the game useta had given up a home run to Trey Turner the short STS second of the game that patted Philly's lead and after giving up a double to Bryce Harper in the next to bat useta hit castanos that caused immediate ER from castanos who pointed at the pitcher and the Umpire got between him the situation escalated when Harper started jwing at Etta from second base both benches and bull pins then cleared and after calm was restored the umpires conferred and decided to toss you set up now in the old days certainly the Phillies would have gone back out there and [ __ ] drilled the first guy that came to the somebody yeah they'd have drilled somebody but the one interesting thing that you said right there is you said that Harper was jawing with him from second base right Harper he really got after after after he hit costos okay well Harper's got you know because we've been in it with the Phillies a few times now with the hunter Strickland deal and then earlier this year and all that s stuff Harper likes to freaking talk [ __ ] but he don't ever go out there and back it up so you know he needs to just shut the [ __ ] up so um casianos he probably you know he probably knew that was on purpose because you know you and I talk about it you know the ones that just graze you or something like that you're like ah that ball got away from me but the ones that like start out right at you got your name written all over it that is a different intent and so casianos probably was like all right bastard here we go you ain't you ain't gonna you ain't got a hit so we can't drill you so now we're gonna we're GNA take a matters into our own hands so the one thing I say to defend a pitcher who hits a guy after he gives up a double a triple a homer whatever is sometimes with really good hitters you got to move their [ __ ] feet yeah AOW doubt on you right all right so here's the thing all right and I saw this um this last home stand um guy comes in and he buzzes the tower on like two or three of our guys right most people in today's game first thing they do is they they stare out at the pitch like H I'm going to get you I'm going to get you in our era I would back out the Batters box and I'd go okay why did he throw up and in there what what is he setting up the next pitch so I got thrown at so many times that it was like not that big of a deal it's like okay what is he setting up with that pitch that was a message pitch for a reason and that's how I approached that at bat was like probably he's coming up in there cuz the next pitch he wants to be down in a way and he doesn't want me leaning out over the plate now people take it personally it's like hey man he's not trying to hit you you're hitting two [ __ ] 10 all right if you hit 210 you're an out all right he's coming up in there for a reason to set up some other [ __ ] and you're dumb enough not to freaking look for it so there we go there's my rant on the up and end ball all right so Whit Maryfield uh got drilled in the head last week and after getting hit he came out and he's like look he goes if you don't know how to [ __ ] pitch in don't [ __ ] pitch in and I I I kind not kind of I agree with them man like these guys are throwing 100 miles per hour they're throwing as hard the hard than they've ever thrown before and you also have a lot of guys that literally would have never been brought up to the big leagues 10 20 30 years ago because they can't find the [ __ ] strike zone so you have guys that are wild as [ __ ] coming in throwing as hard as they can and teams and managers are hoping to catch lightning the ball because they know it's rare that this guy's going to get hit and if he happens to be able to throw strikes we're going to be good and so what you know Wht was saying is that this is [ __ ] because they're [ __ ] like literally jeopardizing the safety of these hitters and I think it was a third Atlanta hitter that had been hit yeah yeah yeah whatever so yeah he went on this speak ran about it so I thought about this a little bit more and I'm like what if there were repercussions for the pitcher if he actually hit a batter so for example if you hit three batters in a game you're starting pitcher like that's your allotment you're gone the third batter you're [ __ ] gone if you hit a guy in the head with a fast ball breaking ball doesn't count as some [ __ ] ducking and it you know whatever but you hit a guy in the head with a fast ball you're [ __ ] immediately ejected from the aame your thoughts on that you know what I had never thought of that but that that would um do two things if you did Pitch in you have to know how to pitch in or guys are going to be scared now because oh I don't want to hit nobody and they're going to go away all the time so there's there's two ways to look at that the kid that I was talking about pitch for Marlins against us and and he did exactly what uh you just talked about whoever that guy was that had to quote the guy the guy from Miami was Darren moffen and he hit three of our guys in the span of three Innings and he had numerous up and ends that were like all over the board right and you know I'm looking at the kid right here he's got he's got two games started he's got seven games pitched in the major leagues but like that guy who who was that you were just talking about Whit Maryfield with Maryfield hey look long dude if you don't know how to pitch in and pitch in effectively and you're gonna hit like three guys in three Innings there has to be something done and I tell you I told you and I told everybody in in the uh audience you know I mean the old story about Mike krco we were we were facing a guy in in Chicago a rookie you know and he he dusted two of our guys hit another guy and krco said piss on this kid came up for his first head bat and it freaking drilled him right so now the kid comes down the first base and he's like man that hurt and I go yeah I said you keep throwing that [ __ ] up and in on our guys and you [ __ ] drill another guy I said we're going to drill you again I said it's going to hurt even more he goes man that ain't fair I said you better learn how to pitch this is the major leagues you better learn how to pitch in if you can't pitch in then PNA we're going to drill you every time and that's where the game has changed and you know you can't police anything so now you got a guy like Goffin here that freaking drills a few dudes and he doesn't have to worry about it in the meantime the umpires know that we're going to drill somebody and they're GNA have to go out warn people and all that sort of [ __ ] so you know that's where the games change I mean you know you be you used to be able to police your own you can't do it no more but you're changing all these rules in so many other spots I think this would be a logical one if you hit [ __ ] batters you don't deserve to be on the mount [ __ ] get the [ __ ] out of here you know and you're jeopardizing the safety of stars that literally make millions and millions and millions of [ __ ] dollars and now you're the guy because you're not prepared because you don't know how to [ __ ] pitch in that is going to be given free reign to be like oh okay and the irony is that these pitchers all due respect are dog [ __ ] these aren't the guys that were really [ __ ] good the guys that are really good know how to pitch in they know how to put it under these guys hands yeah thrill so I teach all to let them play kids this is why I said we pitch it a lot I like if you're going to play us and you're watching this show whatever trust me I promise you we get to the middle of the we are going to pitch your big guys in every single time we just do we have we have for years and I tell our boys look underneath the hands wherever their hands are like that's your focal point and I want you to jam it right underneath there the catcher late slide just slide right in there quack hit the glove hit the glove but I want the catcher right underneath his hands it's really difficult to do damage at that point but you got to know how to pitch in you got to have a plan you got to have a focus hey hey I get it I get it I just I I laugh I laugh at some of the stuff you know because like I told you you know you have to realize when somebody comes in there they are coming in there for a purpose they're not coming in there to hit you and especially if you look now there are three guys three guys ladies and gentlemen in the chat room three guys in the National League that have hit above 300 can you freaking believe that Trey Clark told me that stat the other day when we were in San Francisco I went and looked it up and I was I was like shaking my head I said that is freaking amazing you used to used to play teams that had three dudes on a team that were hitting above 300 and so now you got the whole league so I just shows you where this game has gone pitching hasn't gotten any better all right it's still the same pitch and they still throw hard oh yay big deal they throw hard the problem is everybody and their Grandma are trying to go out of the yard every swing nobody is trying to be a hitter with the exception of that freaking dude that you sent me the strikeout thing what's his name Aras Louis arise so tell tell the audience about that one I mean this is this is crazy so I'm going to go to the article by the way the Brewers up to nothing uh your stre yeah D we BL we yeah we BL the game on they're up two nothing so I sent you the article earlier like in the day and age of strikeouts in zero 300 hitters this is what we're doing the numbers behind arises historic ready for this historic strike out less streak Ramos 922 miles per hour on his fist that's one over the first no he's safe good hustle down the line okay everybody hates strikeouts Louis rise says that's true I counter but surely you hate them more than anybody else right arise hasn't struck out and an entire calendar month a mon I this is this is insane arise said everybody hates strikeouts he repeated it then finally concedes my point just a little bit but especially me even by his own lofty standards arise is on quite a run he hasn't punched out since August [ __ ] 10th it's September 10th today are you kidding me like me you sent me that article and I started I started reading it and I was like first off in today's game I wasn't expecting that I that that floored me in today's game but then go down the list a little bit in that article and they talk about Tony Gwyn had a streak of 170 at bats without a punch out 170 at bats you're talking about damn near three months out of season and he ain't struck out yet so unbelievable so it says he's at 15 plate appearances right now mukie bet wi 129 plate appearances across two seasons in 2016 and 2017 although he did punch out during the 16 postseason so that doesn't count next up on the single season list is Juan Pierre good player who went 147 appearances between strikeouts during the 2004 season the Padre's alltime Marc naturally is held by Tony GN who didn't punch out for over 170 play appearances in a span in 1995 well what's crazy about this is a rise obviously with San Diego he's got a chance to catch that Mark he sure does have a chance to catch that Mark you ain't kidding so here we go we got Matt Chapman up at the plate and hate to switch subjects but uh I don't know whether he had the baby or not but uh he I've been waiting he hit a homer the other day and then you know after the game he had to fly the hell out of there um I'm hoping that his wife had a baby uh oh deep the left off the wall oh that was at least one run here comes Ramos no Ramos is out done that was nice oh yeah Ramos Ramos got to feel his choice yeah so he came around a score so Matt Chapman's on a roll now perfect timing this is why we do no filter boom hanging breaking ball smacks It Off the Wall whoever the left fielder is for the Brew is absolutely butchered this one Jesus you you either got to make the play or you gotta back up yeah you either gotta make the play or you got to back off the wall and and keep that runner at third base he's not scoring you just give him a [ __ ] run you're right yeah completely butchered by the so now so now Here Comes Here Comes Mr Wade we have got to um get a clutch base hit with two outs here it'd be nice to tie it back up two two um so thrilled since the last time we were on the Giants signed Matt Chapman to a long-term deal he is going to be there for the next six seasons your thoughts my thoughts um he is a stud I mean he's the guy that we got to we got to pop up to the catcher to end the inning um so anyway he's he's a stud I mean he plays the game the right way he's old school plays every day uh go Glover he's he's having a hell of a year I mean he's got 21 23 Jacks he's got a bunch of RB so you know if there's if there's somebody who's kind of the face of the organization right now besides Logan web it's Matt Chapman on the offensive side so they decided to shore him up a little bit I think it was a great choice so when I did a daily hustle about it thrill I talked about the fact that you have these young guys you got Tyler Fitzgerald you got Ramos you got a plethora of these other guys coming up you got the pitching staff whatever but as you know and I know it's like offenses and defenses in the NFL they're they're separate right you need a leader on the offensive side you need a leader that is going to post up every single day you need somebody who's GNA hold other guys accountable and is gonna hold himself accountable as well you need a rock defensively that you know every [ __ ] time the ball's hit to him the guy's out yep mat Chap and and you are exactly correct and that's why you know they saw Chapman Chapman wants to be a giant he doesn't want to go anywhere and they locked him up he he probably could have got more money going elsewhere but he wanted to to be there with Bob Melvin and uh yeah they did a great job locking him up so congratulations to the Giants for doing that congratulations for Matt he's having a hell of a year and I just hope that you know we surround him with guys that want to be exactly like Matt Chapman which is post up every day you you know we cannot have the guys that are in the training room all the time and not out on the field and that's just a little hint hint to some of some of the guys in that Clubhouse so there you go they can't make the club when you're in in the tub you got that right Ron Washington told me that [ __ ] um back to Luis arise for a minute he's leading the national league with a 315 average between the Marlins and Padres this year and he could be or he could be he's well on his way to winning a third consecutive batting title with a third team which is I mean this obviously never happened in the history of MLB think about that he was with the twins won a batting title with the Marlins won a batting title now with the Padre's about to win a [ __ ] batting title that's freaking unbelievable and and you know what you know what that right there speaks volumes about this game you got a guy who wins Batten titles like it's going out of style but he can't stick with a team because they don't value people getting on base it's stupid would you rather hit with nobody on base or would you rather hit with a guy or two guys on base I know one thing when I came to play I wanted two guys out there at all times all right I didn't want anybody out there because first off if you go deep it's one run but then on top of that I'm I'm out there freaking you know trying to figure out what his pattern is but I know exactly what his pattern is when there's runs in scoring position and that's where the freaking games changed let's talk about this because walks obviously are Valu tremendously across M MB I want everybody who's watching this show live on no filter Network everybody who will listen to this later on Spotify or apple uh on the Deuces Wild poot to understand a walk is not the same as a [ __ ] hit nope no no no I've never seen never ever seen a walk with a runner at first or runner at first at second or runner at second and third score a guy from home never ever ever but I've seen a single score runner from second score runner from second and third every single [ __ ] time not every time but gosh damn near every time from third every time we know that for sure right yeah y you you you're def you're definitely correct you know I mean hey look you know there are people nowadays in this sport that value walks um I want guys that can hit I don't I don't hey look walks are a byproduct of guys that can hit if you can hit then they get scared of you and then that's when the walks come all right right guys who go up there and hunt walks and don't hunt hitting uh see you later we got a boatload of those guys and that's called guys that can't hit get the [ __ ] out the batter's box give me somebody who's a stud that's going to get in the batter's box and drive in the runs so that's where a lot of these stats are very misleading because like walks and on base percentage and oh he's got a great on base percentage Yeah but he hits 230 and then he hits freaking 210 with runs in scoring position I don't want that guy I want the guy that's going to hit 350 with runs in scoring position and hit 280 over the course of a year you know and we don't have too many of those guys in the major leagues anymore and it's sad where the game's gone it is it really is I mean that's that's exactly it thr you want somebody who wants to be up in those situations I I tell our boys all the time dude I especially when it's like second and third and I see him take a pitch that they should have pound it I'm like dude we're not looking to walk swing the [ __ ] bat yes swing it like don't you live for this [ __ ] yeah you want to be in the situation that's where you want to be that's where you want to be you want to be the man up there to win the game that's what you want to do and and guess what guess what those guys the guys that get up there and win the ball game I don't give a rat's ass what people tell you those are the guys that get paid and those are the guys that the fans come to see all right if you want to be the guy that walks and sets the table and all that hey you you're going to be part of the team but nobody's coming to see you nobody's going to be wearing your [ __ ] Jersey I can tell you that here's Tyler uh by the way everybody in the chat room uh my chat is not working or you guys aren't chatting a lot so because I mean I haven't seen anything since since Joel posted so you guys fire some [ __ ] in there so burnsy and I can talk about it thank you did did you just get mine thank you Linda yeah I got yours thank you Linda Linda Linda I think it was Linda and noro were there at the autism deal but I didn't I didn't I didn't get a chance to see him so sorry I didn't see you guys I saw ralo like I said Big Mike Jason all of those guys so hey um oh by the way by the way I'm thinking about this uh mid January it's January 16th as a matter of fact uh Nevada arino um has their baseball banquet and their coach is hitting me up pretty hard to uh to do some speaking so I may be in your area mid January that'd be so cool man just giving you a heads up I know Big Mike and and Jason they're all they're all fired up about it if the schedule works great I'll be able to make it if not ah sorry yeah that's cool dude they they I know Jason and battleborn are really involved in that program so yeah hell yeah they are hell yeah they are um Tyler Fitzgerald hitting six tonight why great question have no idea I have no idea I mean I mean the days of one guy being in one position in a bat in order for the whole season that's kind of gone so I don't know with the exception of Kyle schwarber Le hitting [ __ ] lead off other than that I don't know Melvin's always like to mix it up dude I I'd show up the ballpark one day I'm hitting lead off the next time hitting clean up like you could you could I'm serious it happened all the time I hit lead off and clean up I hit best in the two hole like by far but I mean other than that oh I I it's interesting because you here he is he's still hitting 295 880 Ops which is by far the best on the team I I would I would just stick with that guy as my you know one two or three hitter and go there right because he's fast as [ __ ] too yeah no I get it I get it so so you were you were looking down and you you were talking and I just happen to look over your shoulder so Grant McCrae kind of tried to do a drag bunt and uh needless to say he didn't he didn't get the the pitch to do it with and he pulled oh jeez oh God that was a circle route he ran well how about the fact that dude McCrae didn't even run yeah that that was that guy that's that guy chrio Jackson cheio and then the worst part is this is a fair ball he better [ __ ] run he did though unbelievable right he hit and stood there yeah know so so um Grant McCrae you know tries to drag bunt and pulls the catcher back back pulls the bat back rather and the catcher drops the ball clanks just Clank it you would think he'd pick up the ball throw it back to the pitcher no he picked up the ball threw the ball out of the play and umpire had to throw a new ball why the hell you throwing a new ball out there when you just clanked one in the air there's nothing wrong with the ball so I think I think this this is the kind of stupid [ __ ] that I pay attention to in the game and I go that's where this [ __ ] [ __ ] game is gone well you were always really interested in the ball because you would get the ball at first base and then immediately you get it hold on left-handed you get it you pull it out you look at it and then you either toss it here or you throw it back up in the stand why that's right that's right cuz at Candlestick the infield is crushed brick so if I caught it I looked at it to see if it has scuffs on it because I didn't want the opposing pitcher to use a ball with scuffs all over it although my pitching staff one of the scuffs and so as soon as I see one with a scuff P up in the stands if I saw one without a scuff all right I throw it back on the M it's been a while tell the story about the rivets yeah so the gloves back in the day on the bottom of the glove all right which is where your palm would be had rivets where all the laces went through right and so I had like two of my pitchers the the one who's who is the big the big one that wanted it was Mike Laos we called him Buffy big redheaded he looked like Buffy to clown so anyway so he wanted it cut so he said hey take your rivets and take a pair of needlenose pliers and pull them up and make like razor blades down here so I was catching the ball at first base I'd grab it and I'd go wham and I'd cut it and I'd throw it around to the short stop and man the ball would go woom one time and woom that time and so I got to be pretty goddamn good at it I mean I was catching woom my I just cut it for everybody right and um this one day matter of fact Laos was on the mound and I caught it boom chunked it around the infield and uh Laos catches the ball on the mound he like looks at me and goes hey uh you okay and I go yeah I'm fine why he goes look down at your hand I looked at my hand and I had missed the ball and I cut my fingers like this and I just was sliced wide open and I was bleeding like a stuck pig on first base and he goes you want to get a Band-Aid I go hell no they're gonna know we're cheating I said wait till they end the in and in the meantime I'm I'm holding pressure on on my uniform I'm just like I got a you know it was white uniform back then it wasn't cream but it was white and red back then because I had blood all over the place that's insane man so if you're all to throw a ball that's scuffed do you know or did the pitchers ever explain to you the technique to actually use that yes get it to move more yes and so that's what I try to tell our pitchers so I I don't have a ball laying around here so let's say if the scuff is on this side all right if the scuff is on this side the ball's going to move the opposite so the ball's going to go that way okay if you turn the ball around now scuff on this side the ball's going to move the other way okay and so wherever the scuff was the ball moved the opposite direction and for the most part the guys that threw it real well like uh you know Linda even said it in the chat room Mike Scott was a perfect example it'd stay straight and it would move right at the end so you're like oh I got this one I got this one and then it just chew you up and so it was kind of believe it or not it was a precursor to like even though he didn't cheat near as much but it was it was a precursor to like marianao Rivera I mean everybody was throwing cheater balls in there and then don't even get me started with the guys like MX that were loading it up or Gaylord Perry and all that those that whole crew that was throwing the spitballs in there so if I got a ball back the discuss on the rightand side of the ball I'm basically gonna throw a slider with that scuff to try to get it to break that much no [ __ ] no [ __ ] no the These Guys these guys are throwing fast balls they're they're throwing fast balls and the fast balls are moving three to four inches so it's coming in there it's sailing on you right at the end sailing on you you turn the ball around it goes the other way you sail on you that way yeah that makes so you know it it it did not benefit a breaking ball it benefited your fast ball interesting so they were just throw fast balls there's one that Greg Maddox threw and he even talked about it like a podcast or something that he did yeah I've never seen a baseball movie like this ever in my entire life ever like I mean it it move it moved four feet it you know i' I've been up at home pled a bunch where Greg Strow is [ __ ] and it's moved legitimately like a foot foot and a half and I'm like yeah no you can't you can't get a ball to move that far in 60 feet six inches so who knows what the hell he had on top of it you know whe pinear whatever you know uh oh what was that not in this part you got a man there yeah maybe in Milwaukee but not even close in San Francisco hang with him Mr Bower that's a deep Fly ball out all right let's go get a let's go get a run and get back in this game uh Landon rot has gone through three Innings and with the exception of you know the uh inning number one he's done a great job I mean he's he's held everybody in check so that's good thr real quick I say real quick I mean you take your time talk about this obviously 911 is tomorrow yeah oh yeah we forgot about that one didn't we yeah you know all of us were affected either directly or indirectly by by far without a shadow of a doubt uh what are some of your thoughts when you go back I mean I think that was what your first year of retirement uh yeah you know 911 is not a good day for me um my my dad and I were scheduled to go on an elk hunt and my mom wanted my dad to get a get a stress test and so you know they they supposedly found a blockage so they were going to go in there and clear the blockage out and I don't know if you know this but they give you some sort of die so they know where the blockage is so they can go clear it out well that was on 911 right when the planes were hitting the building and my dad had an allergic reaction to the die and had a stroke on the table and passed away so 911 is not a good day for the thrill and that's one of those on I try to avoid every now and then so you know it's one of them things wow man I I didn't know that no no no no no I I wouldn't expect you to know that but you know we would talking about 911 and my big thing about 911 you know besides my own personal case the big thing that about 911 is how many people First Responders that went in there to take care of people and now they in turn start getting cancer and this and that and this and that and how many First Responders have passed away that right there is something that needs to you know people need to know about that how bad it was you know during that time of the that time of our lives it was bad I was there in New York City right after I walked around the dust was still there unbelievable unbel later was unbelievable you know and and you know that for me you know you know that was a big huge huge huge you know cry oh man it made a good catch there um but that was a big huge you know cry for patriotism and you know that I thought that at that time our country came together real well you know our military got stronger um you know the people in the United States were more USA proud and uh you know we've gotten away from that again so it definitely brought our country together yeah right and we made us realize made us realize how fortunate we are to live in this country and um you know obviously the uh the Swift response and in a lot of guards the problem was we didn't know exactly you know who who was attacking us I mean outside of al-Qaeda but who was hosting them and yeah everything else but yeah the thing that'll resonate with me is you know obviously put baseball into perspective where we think it's life and it's not life at all yeah and you know then it was just the way the country reacted and the wayball world reacted and the way we came together and then playing in the playoffs in New York in 2001 right after all this it was it was something like I'll never forget for the rest of my life I mean I I struck out against Mariano Rivera with the you know I believe I was the tying run there's a runner on First and it's I I step back through I'm like there's 56,000 people in the stand on my Yankee Stadium and I'm well aware of of what just took place here and the energy and the passion of that fan yeah it it resonated with and I looked out upon the right right field pole I always used to do that to kind of try to reset and and bring myself in the moment and I [ __ ] told myself I said no matter what happens here no matter what happens here soak this moment in and literally yeah just felt the the air pasture my nostrils and looked around the stadium and got in and I said I'm going to compete like a [ __ ] let's go yeah yeah I didn't win that battle but I will forever be grateful just even for that opportunity no no totally agree with you totally agree with you and what you just said resonates with me so much so what Eric is talking about ladies and gentlemen in the audience all right you step back like that and you take that big deep breath and you let it out and it's just like it just like everything calms down and everything becomes clear all right and so we've said this before we've said this before so some of the biggest moments in my life you know whether it be in the Batters box or after something happened really good took a deep breath and exactly the same feeling Eric ha just now it's just like and you just took it all in you know and you know I know that before I got before I got the base hit off off of Mitch Williams believe it or not it was the great Vin Scully that said in these situations right here it's really hard to breathe and the camera was focused right on me and you see me go like this you go and I take a deep breath and then I don't know it was a pitch or two later I got the base hit off of Mitch Williams but that goes back to exactly what you just said Eric and on top of that the article that you sent me said you know that these players today's players had the opportunity to wear you know like what is it is it police hats or n Fire Department I would never ever passed that up if I take the field I'm gonna have one of them freaking hats on because I'm representing more than just this game I'm representing our culture well I mean thrill this basically goes back to what you mentioned earlier and it's just how many of those guys have have lost their lives since and yeah families that have been you know in a lot of ways and look they were doing their job they were doing their job they went in there you know to save their own and save you know UNC countless number of lives and they W up sacrificing them their own life for that reason that must have been just a really like emotional time for you I I I imagine right huge between you know 11 obviously you your your pops yeah you just got done playing so now so now my brother first first year retirement yeah exactly first year retirement I'm expecting you know to spend a lot of time with him you know and then he passes oh by the way he was 61 and a half and I'm 60 now just to show you how early in life this was all right then my brother is working and he just so happens he's living in Indiana where where Joel Thompson is he just so happens he has to take a business trip to Connecticut he's in Connecticut when my dad passes the planes hit the building all that other of crap and they canceled all the flights so now he can't get from Connecticut back home for the funeral and all that and thank God one of his friends in Indiana went and went drove to Connecticut grabbed him drove to to Indiana he was able to grab his stuff grab his wife and all that and then come down the funeral otherwise my brother would have missed the funeral for our dad and this is Scott there Scott yep he must have been still pretty young at this time he was all right let's see your dad was he was probably 26 27 right around there yeah I mean that's I look I don't I don't there's not a right age to lose your dad I was a little bit older I was 34 my dad was my dad was 65 yeah I get um you know it's the one the one thing I learned through all that like you'll never you'll never be able to say the the oh hey I understand type of thing right like I've always been really careful with that until you go through it and now like with my friends as we get older and you know the parents that pass all I'm sure because I was one of the first ones of my friend group to have my dad pass away yeah and yeah so I'm one of the first ones I'll I'll try to be on the Forefront of getting out there and being like Yo dude like I'm here for you I went and and you know you and I talk about it I mean you know whenever I you know run across you know people and you know they got their parents and their parents in the 80s and all that sort of stuff and they telling me about this and about that I'm like hey treasure the fact that they are with you because ours are not with us anymore and so treasure that fact um Linda just jumped on there and she said she said that her daughter had open heart surgery a few years ago and it worried the [ __ ] out of her so Linda um I'm glad she's doing better um you know you never want to see you know one of your siblings much less one of your kids have a have a big problem so so thank you for that post I really appreciate it but um another thing too let's let's get off that all right you know I mean we got that one covered um what is going on out there because I don't know Big Mike in in um and Jason have been posting about the fire what's going on out there with the fire What's happen there it's bad I was I was out Reno yesterday where where is it where is it so the best way to put it is know where we play golf yeah yeah yeah that Golf Course okay it's that it's that area it's it's that Galina it's back up towards Mount Rose as you're going that way yeah Big Mike Big Mike sent me a picture the other day and the freaking whole Sky lit up I'm like Jesus Christ at first before I knew it was a fire at first I thought it was a freaking dust storm yeah you know but I mean that's how that's how kind of thick it was you know so here I I went by it yesterday I'll share this with you I didn't post this at all it's funny I the first fire I have some crazy footage of too I I have no desire to I captured it more so I could show friends and stuff yeah um it's not to glorify it or whatever in social media is not really my thing um but I was driving home yesterday and like trying to see what am I having okay I got you I got you it's not let me see if I get I'll get a better I I get I get the hint I get the I'll pause it here and then zoom in yeah no I get the hint I just wanted to yeah yeah and dude it's this whole [ __ ] thing like like here this is where the fire is right here right and basically this this is the blue sky that is over us here in trucky right and then and then Westward and then this is the [ __ ] this is the [ __ ] there's nothing but [ __ ] [ __ ] smoke whatever and they're like they're saying un dude hey you know you know and that's that's you know I mean that's what I feel for you guys you know I mean I feel for you guys out west because y'all got to deal with this [ __ ] every year you know and you know here I am you know believe or not I mean I'm sitting here in my house right now and tomorrow I got a hurricane coming in see that bit is coming for you [ __ ] yeah and it's coming right over the top of us which is actually believe it or not it's actually the best place to come because it's like if you're on all right so everything on a storm goes counterclockwise so if you're on the right hand side of storm dude you're going to catch some [ __ ] but if you're on the left hand side of storm or if the storm comes right over the top of you it's actually not that bad I mean and this is a category one yeah all right Katrina was a category five this is a category one so by the time it gets to me it's going to be just like a tropical storm with a lot of rain so people around here are going [ __ ] nuts the media is making it seem like your house is going to cave in and it I mean doomsters are going crazy and in the meantime all we're going to do is get a lot of rain and hang with them here's the battleborn video that was just said yeah Francine that [ __ ] is coming at you yeah let's see here's battle Yeah battleborn battleborn sent me something similar to that yeah yeah he said he sent it to both of us dude dude and I love it you know when them play [ __ ] [ __ ] put out get it put out look at that [ __ ] hell yeah hell yeah go get you some more [ __ ] and go fly out there and put some more [ __ ] on there yeah but I'll tell you this dude so a lot of them will fly out of trucky airport right and dude these helicopters it looks like they're carrying these little [ __ ] water buckets man there's got to be a way there's got to be a way for them to get more [ __ ] water in there whatever it is fire and it and it seems like it carrying little bitty water buckets that's probably a thousand gallons of water and it just it's like ah [ __ ] look at this man this is big bastard there he goes look at look at all that red [ __ ] here wow here take all that crap with you get out of here fire yep there you go well you know what's really burning through and I noticed this with the Reno fires here recently is it's all that [ __ ] grass man oh it's the grass it's not even like the trees and [ __ ] it's the grass it's just like [ __ ] it's like kindley and it's just yeah yeah and that's why that's why you know I mean down here we have you know whatever Forest you have all right so for me on my Ranch Mike knows because he's been there Tommy and then Josh and him I got pine trees but I have builtin fire brakes and their roads is what they are so that the fire can't jump across the road and that's what you guys are having problems with is because the Fire gets going and then you got all of this grass and it just builds the fire and the freaking wind takes it you know so down here when you get a fire it has to jump a road it has to jump it and then people are freaking you know doing other things like they'll go in there and freaking clear out a whole freaking Forest of trees so that the fire don't jump the road you know yeah well you guys have so much moisture too yeah exactly exactly the moisture just it keeps it from shreding yeah uh meanwhile two1 Brewers still Chap and flyball right field there's two down we'll go one more out Tera just got home with biscuit from football practice biscuit biscuit now we got now we got Wade Jr up you know he was hitting 300 and then he had a great on base percentage and all that sort of stuff still good on Bas is 388 yeah and then you know then he had his hamstring injury and since then he has not been the same guy and he's getting I don't know acupuncture and all the rest of the [ __ ] he's getting the needles and all of that but he hasn't he hasn't been tuned it up like he was early in the year um dude I I don't trust me as a parent and you know I I don't want to overdo this with bragging about my kid he's had success in baseball ski whatever dude you should brag about your kid you sent me a video you hit ball off the 320 foot sign the other day he did that that that was impressive BR on him but what what was more impressive in his first flag football game for real his first one of the season it's a sixth seventh eighth grade League he's in seventh grade he scored seven times ready he threw for three he ran for two and then he had two pick sixes on defense I mean I i' like dude you've done a lot of cool [ __ ] athletically i' like this might take the cake yeah yeah so if you guys just saw that swing right there all right so here he is here's Lamont he's up here and when he goes to swing he drops and he comes up at it that's your timing has to be absolutely perfect so if you're up here just stay up there and just freaking use your leverage and they're not they're not going to show that swing again but that's kind of where he has gone from when he was early in the season to late in the season but he doesn't want to talk about it so you know if you don't want to talk about it you don't want to make an adjustment I can't help you so sorry sorry good luck it's one of the things I was talk I posted something earlier this our our big hitter Frank the Tank and so you see that right there you see how he falls back right there and another another foul ball so in this at bat alone he's hit three popup foul balls all right because he's falling back he needs to stay tall so this these are the kind of things that you know I'll go talk to him about and if if they want to listen if they want to listen great if not the break it ball it help yeah yeah and he you know he did him he did him a favor you know I mean he's he's up underneath the fast balls here let's trick him we'll throw a breaking ball and that's the one that comes down into the Zone where his swing is did him a favor Big Time way it yeah but anyway good job on the base hit there Lamont but you better start freaking getting your swing squared away on the old high heaters there Jack fitgerald taking a 92 mile per hour Sinker right down the middle yeah that wasn't good that that was one I'd been hunting right there I found that right right why you letting that one go no here's another Sinker so you get 93 on your hands it's a Fly ball yeah y i dude he hit that a long way from hands hey Tyler's got a lot of Pop man he's you know he's got that sort of because he's 63 6'4 he's got that like stringy power you know how that is leverage yeah exactly exactly yeah all right thrilled uh I gotta go fantastic show once again uh I've covered a lot man I mean it's yeah well I mean you know we were off last week
