discuss on today's episode we're going to discuss the transfer window uh the win and the win against we'll see good result in the end and but before we get into all that we obviously wanted to address the sad news that Soul Bamber passed away unexpectedly at the weekend and it was a really big shock actually and I think sa was a proper good guy and a really solid footballer to be honest I didn't really give him much credit at the time when he was at leads because it was part of the whole chelino era and everything at that point was leaving a bad taste in my mouth but it wasn't until I kind of saw how he conducted himself elsewhere at other clubs and how he how he was at Cardiff for instance um that it really made me sort of truly understand him and and yeah really sad to hear of his passing yeah absolutely really sad wonderful man you know one of those people that you can tell just by looking at him and and the way he talks and Carries himself yeah just just a lovely lovely guy great player for Le like you say yeah I mean it it sort of get swept under the carpet his leads his time at leads because it was chelino you know he he he he could have been like what pontis was for us but came a little bit early I suppose cuz I I remember you know he came in on loan half a season and he was absolutely excellent probably our our best player easily I think at that point by memory and then at the end of that season he was interviewed on the pitch I think and and he like absolutely tore into not chelino personally but you know T into the running of the club and you know really laid on the line like what needs to change it leads them to to you know get good again and and that I mean he he shot up in my estimation so so much from that interview at that point he was alone e you know probably on his way out so I guess you could say you know he had more freedom to talk freely and credit to chileo you know he he actually signed him still off the back of that which I think as well says a lot about Bamba's personality and the respects that He commands even off the owner of the club when he when he speaks like that you know chelino took note and mad like that Bamba got through to him so yeah that that says a lot about him as well and yeah got ill like I think it was in about 20120 wasn't it had cancer and yeah I I I mean I never listened to podcasts outside outside of leads but I did listen to one I think it was on with Gabby Logan don't even know the podcast name but I listened to it and and it was just amazing like really again a bit like the Rob Baro thing like so inspirational listening to him talk about you know what he went through and and how he came through that and ended up getting back on the pitch as well ah just a great great guy and yeah so sad to lose him at what was he 39 awful so yeah we're really sad to hear the news and you wishes to anyone listening who might know him or family as well so yeah it's always difficult to then go into anything sort of current because you know this sort of thing is ends up being Timeless doesn't it but we do have a football game to talk about and obviously the transfer window as well coming to a close last week whilst I was away and yeah the transfer window I mean last season we referred we always have this debate is it a window or is it a door does it does it sort of slowly close creep CL if it's a sash window it comes crashing down doesn't it don't know but there's players diving out the window for for starters wasn't there towards the end of it so but yeah few signings uh Hey Oh Tanaka is it ya I think so Al I think but a is better Adam Adam next to me when I tried to pronounce his name referred to it sounded like a cat had hurt himself and so obviously Isaac Schmidt came in as well Schmitt yeah good old Schmidt that's the Schmid and is it Larie or lagi ramazani lari got lari yeah I don't know but yeah ramani definitely little Larie ramazani nice yeah got ring to it he's tiny so is Solomon I was surprised for some reason obviously well not obviously I'd never remember seeing him play or anything but just from the photo of his face I thought he was going to be quite tall but no he's tiny and Brilliant it's funny because like you can hear PE bles talking about people being tiny and you think they're taking the piss but I'm not taking the piss I love it in a footballer you know like the best footballers are always small aren't they I remember seeing Zer at Ellen R thinking bloody hell he's another level so always excites me when I see like a small footballer why is that maybe like in maybe it's like the evolution of football in like 15 years time it'll just be like loads of really small players with just one big goal like seven foot keeper that's EV evolution of the game they predicting it what were your thoughts on those signings they all sound solid enough yeah yeah I I can't really say until I've seen them play what we've seen on the weekend I think was really positive what I have heard from people who yeah know more than me sounds good you know not just blind excitement but like actual analysis of of the games and stuff so I think it's good I think it's fine like the hmer thing was weird I I'd I'd like to know for sure what went on there you know if if we did want him and I mean Faus said he wanted someone to replace rter and I don't even know if he is a number 10 but anyway if we did want him and we' bid 13 million and and 18 would have got him yeah very very odd to not just do it for the reasons i' said previously you know everyone knows we've got all that money in the in the bank that's on us we you know should just have to accept that we're not going to get value for money in certain cases so yeah 18 million or 13 million it's not not a lot when you're just taking in you know hundreds of millions in player sales but yeah overall I'm happy I think the squad's stronger and I think the team's better so no problem so that's your opinion and is very mixed that is the main thing I've noticed in the last few days it's very mixed as to where the people feel it is a positive transfer window or a negative some people sit in the middle I'm kind of in the middle I think a few people a lot say a few people a lot of people are expecting a marquee signing it didn't happen and do you think do you think we miss that or do you think it's more in terms of physically on the pitch did we need someone else or do you think there's enough there I think there's enough there like needing a marquee signing it like I hate that phrase because yeah it's completely like it's vulgar like we need a marquee signing like we just want to get excited by spending loads of money like you know it's ludicrous really I think there you know when you look through the squad you know we're better in the fullback position now we're stronger like compared to last season the squad was threadbear you know he didn't use like all those loads of players that he had I think we've got better Wingers than we did last season season I think the Midfield stronger we've got four in there now and up front we're stronger because we've got Mario Joseph who's miles better than than what we've had in the past and I I think it's fine I think Aronson's come back as well who looks really really good I think he he can be excellent for us like we didn't have strike all of last season we sorted out the right back situation sorted out the striker situation again a play we already had but so I think I think it's absolutely f and you know if like I don't know like the 49ers have made a lot of money this window but I don't think that's the be all and end all and that's obviously why far's happy because he looks at what he's got at his disposal injuries might come into it but you know I think I think we're looking good we'll come back to 49ers but all I was going to say is on transfer fees and like you say and Mar signings and phrases like that you've only got to look at the side and this is not me comparing like for like and saying that these players are going to be of this caliber but you only have to look at Leicester city when they went on to win the Premier League and the signings that they made there was Riad mahrez I think was signed for 400k wasn't he from laav I believe you pronounce it um and I bet a lot of people thought when he came in like well it's 400 Grand is nothing and I think everyone liking everything in the world everybody looks to money as the kind of as the marker of whether something is going to be good or not we've said it before haven't we around you know the film industry looks at films and how much they gross determines how good it is when the film can actually be so you know and we've had it with players we've had players come in that have done nothing where we spent a lot of money on them so you know don't judge it based on the value judge it based on what happens and the little signs that we saw in the game uh Tanaka coming in and slotting into Midfield I know he only play a few minutes we're jumping way ahead here but slotting into Midfield having one session and just looking that comfortable I think that's the signs are already good it doesn't that doesn't happen very often where you know sometimes someone will come in and they get lost or they'll play in a different position and it'll or the game will be like one and there's no pressure and you know I I didn't think we were at that point with him coming on the pitch so anyway yeah no I I agree yeah and it's like you say about the money thing you know a lot of people were talking about Tanaka and that he only cost whatever he cost but like to me you know my concern was that he' only played in in the second tier in Germany for the last three years and you know why hadn't he been snapped up but yeah look looked good at the end of the day I mean he's he's he's one of four Central midfielders that we've got to to fight for positions now and you know that's that's better than we had last season last season we were completely thin on the ground really you know ampadu nearly all season had to be Center back gray had to be right up right back all season so we only had kamaru and guev so to have four there now it's it's it's a big difference and these are all players that farer trust you know we've got a full Squad of farer players now whereas last season you know starting from scratch pretty much and yeah he went into it it wasn't it wasn't the finished article you know he he he' done what he could do to get us competitive and and he did incredibly well and now I I think I think we're yeah I think we're looking stronger we'll dip into the game and sort of cover off a few of these imagine but we mentioned Solomon based on his height but just to address this as well I mean I know people are going to have dividing opinions on his his own political beliefs and you know with him being from Israel but it's something that we're just not going to talk about we're g to get stick to stick to the football I think it's probably what I say it's what we do best but we do that we do that at an average level but I think that's that's that's the realm we'll stay in anyway we'll we'll not talk about that so yeah I thought I thought he started off really brightly I was amazed at how quick his feet were and how he was just he was really strong on the ball like I don't I can't remember their right back's name you know rocker oh co co of course it was L Kyle who did I think he was have no idea Kyle's the only it a big decision by farer to bring in Solomon for starters but then also for him to take neonto after playing so well against Wednesday to take his role on the on the left and switching Willie to the right big call and it it came off for him yeah like you like you say like Solomon I was really impressed with him the guy next to me straight away said you can tell that he's from the level above and yeah you really could he's if he stays fit I think I mean he's a ma signing like we're not going to get better than him like the fact that he's only on loan is a bit of a shame but you know let's address that later on but for now we've got an absolute absolute cracker by the looks of things I thought he was absolutely awesome and came up with a great assist as well yeah I was I was very very impressed with him I'd like to see I think CH could play on the right as well but look very dangerous from the left that's the thing as well is that he's not played a lot that's got to be one of very few games he's had in the last six months and to come in and play like that was brilliant so I think he's only going to get better touchwood yeah it reminds me as well actually that so like when when Rafia signed like all the players like they couldn't believe how amazing he was in training and like for Solomon to have joined when he did and and get thrown straight into the team like even ahead of ramazani really you'd think he would be ahead of him in the pecking order at that point makes me think like they all must know that he is a level above you know for him to get stra in the team like that you know he could even have played I expect I think I said didn't on on the group like I said Peru would start like I didn't expect really either of the any of the new Lads to come in so I think that BS well as well that's true that and I think it makes it life easier for you as a player knowing that someone that Goods there and they're just going to take that spot you're like well that it's obvious he's going in that position it's quite interesting as well isn't it that we when we were trying to get into Premier League we obviously took Jack Harrison on loan as a Winger and if you compare him at that stage versus Jack Harrison he is a level above you know I think the thing that that Jack was always kind of missing was that decision the decision making was was never really there when we were at that level whereas yeah Solomon seems have got it all and it's I think he's a great signing for us yeah I was thinking that earlier today how I mean like if you're 25 or younger like this is surely the most talented Squad we've ever had you've ever seen you know I think this is more talented Squad than we had in the Premier League certainly more talented than b El's team that got promoted and obviously more talented than the snakes and losers side under Marsh so yeah I I think it's great I'm I'm excited is there anyone else that you felt really stood out I thought Mato Joseph you know following the Sheffer Wednesday game just had another robust game didn't they and it's I think you said it in our in our group Rocco it's always a little moan from you isn't there and it was a moan it was a moan about farker and I didn't get know what you were getting that to begin with so I had I question question you about it but yeah you're right to say this but farker probably should have given a running of a few games towards the end of last season shouldn't he but equally is he protecting a player like as well I know but when it's such a massive thing for promotion you you can't be protecting him I mean I I said at the time you know what a luxury I think I said it during the international break just before the end of the like the real running started like what a look luy to have a player like that a striker who's scoring goals who's red hot you know an under 21 International for England and Spain to have him like ready to come in fresh confident and we needed him like oh my God like if it was January like the whole fan base would have been going crazy for us to sign a striker at that at that point Bamford was injured or struggling obviously you know Peru hadn't really played up front I mean yeah I I just need to get over it really it's irrelevant now isn't it but I mean I just thought he was I just think he's a complete different class I think he's amazing like he's so fast he works so hard like his stamina like he I I don't like making this comparison but like it reminds me of alen Smith the way he tears around nonstop 90 minutes pretty much just awesome and then you know scores a goal his linkup plays good like I I don't think I've seen a lead Striker give a Defender that hard a time for many many years like you know we've been too easy to play against for a lot of center backs and yeah that'll never be the case with Joseph up front even if he's not having a good game got his goal deserved as well Solomon brilliant ball into the box wouldn't it whipped in yeah beautiful beautiful like just instinctive from both of them really and absolute joy to see Joseph Get Off the Mark wanted him to get another but yeah never really never really had a chance I was a bit annoyed with the way we reacted after the goal I thought we had to like just like go for the kill but we straight away started like passing it around slowly and standing still and stuff and I was getting angry actually but yeah it all worked out well I think farker was telling them to keep moving as well I I always keep an eye on him on the touch line and it was definitely saying you know there was times when they slowed down he wanted to keep the tempo up and up and running and good old Brendan arenson I thought he had a really good game he was being a nuisance and he was stronger as well I thought I think so yeah definitely yeah I think he was good like probably maybe not as good as at Wednesday but yeah absolutely excellent I don't he didn't really lose the ball did a few nice things bit trickery here and there picking the right passes when he needed to and stuff yeah yeah I really like him you know I think I don't really put him in the same class as vber because he he got a Champions League move off the back of relegation and he set out his stall early to to come back and stay and and you know and have this season with us so you know fair play to him for that so yeah I'm I'm I'm I'm happy with him I think he'll I think he'll have a good season there's a moment in the second half where we broke out our defense and they were all quite high up the pitch but there was enough of them to kind of defend quite well against us and he had an option to pass out to the right and he chose not to and he just ran with the ball and dragged everyone up the field and I thought it was brilliant I thought it was brilliant that because there's so many times where we get in those sort of positions and we pass it out wide and then the wide player realizes I'm not going to go anywhere and then they come back into the middle and then we inevitably pass it back and bad he did really well because he he saw what was in front of him and he he literally dragged us all up the field so I think there just some really good signs I'm seeing from him at the minute and he was my surprise package for the season so maybe that's why I'm towing that little narrative seeding it in there so I can kind of win it at the end of the season no I think you're looking odds on at the moment well I'm not going to win it am I I I had down oh yeah of course he did R for 30 the team needs to be more vocal at the back needs to be that leader there because mistakes happen like that there's another one where Melia played a bit of a hospital past the road on as well didn't he it it was all just communication for me it got a bit like the whole half got a bit messy didn't it in the end when we hadn't scored after the first 10 minutes like we were absolutely pummeling them and then like they basically got back into it and and got on top really um it was quite yeah quite difficult but I don't know like like meler there was one time where Mele had the ball for like caught the ball and like the crowd are screaming at him to release it for a Counterattack and I could tell he didn't want to do it and then he did it and then like the the guy he gave it to get gets tackled and the crowd are going mental at him again like I just feel like he yeah I just feel like everyone needs to chill out about Melia like it's crazy like he's a good keeper like at least like surely everyone knows he's a good keeper and like the amount of like anxiety and like stress around him and what he does like punching this not throwing that just give him a break he's a good keeper and bloody a like putting him under massive pressure it's like the worst thing we could possibly do yeah it's it's a funny one isn't it and I don't know why we put him under so much pressure is it the thing of like I've just said comparing him to all keepers of yester players of yester year comparing him to he'll he'll never be Keiko will he he'll he'll never be Kiko CIA never gonna win three Bogle too many issues did he Mel made a good save actually I think maybe from him but no they they weren't as good as last yeah they weren't as good as last season were they like last season was a really tough game but you know I mean that yesterday could have it could have gone another way like we we got the goals at the right to perfect times and you know in the end it's a comfortable win but we didn't create all that much you know for as positive as we're talking about the players in the squad and the team like we didn't really did we miss any chances I'm not sure it was it was fully control in the game but yeah I feel like if we hadn't scored one we did I think it it could have got quite desperate it was my nephew's birthday yesterday so we had had a chicken gyro before the game are they being cheap or what what is the general sort of thoughts on 49ers Enterprises now that the transfer window is shut and you can and like I'm just layering in this as a point as well but you can also think we've sold all those assets what have we got left if we've not bought anyone but it feels like there's a lot of like why are we talking about value and money it's horrible isn't it it feels like there's a lot of value to be gained with the the players that are there as well like mato Joseph like neonto yeah it's hard to say it's hard to say like I you know we we don't know the ins and outs and like you read stuff and like people compare figures but but we don't we don't fully know so it's it's hard to I don't know I find it hard to I don't really want to criticize them when we've got a squad that I'm happy with like the things that annoy me is when they come out and and talk nonsense at us and expect us to believe it like you know Arie cell makes us stronger you know in a stronger position to to buy players and you know promising that we're going to be ready for the start of the season when they knew that they couldn't promise that because of the release Clauses that were there saying that we'd be in control this summer when they again knew that that wasn't going to be the case well that sort of stuff that that's almost what worries me more than talking crap at us and then also like downgrading the food and charging through the roof like the ticket prices are a disgrace these are they're all the things that I have issues with I the transfer dealings I'm I'm I'm all right with it yeah I'm I can I'm I'm sure they can make excuses as to as to why we've made so much money and yeah as long as we got a good squad I'm I'm all right with it but the hmer thing's a bit weird I'd like to hear more about that Ticket Master and Oasis have made 49ers ticket purchasing like like The Golden Boys it's insane isn't it like people queing for like eight hours and then getting told oh due to high demand who would have thought it 350 now scand how is that not illegal well it as well it's that thing of you know you all right okay so you can't resell tickets resell them at face value but will make loads of money as demand so like so so what you're just touting yourselves yeah there's some sort of Monopoly investigation that may need to happen there in my opinion anyway so yeah though I agree it's hard to know isn't it it's hard to know what the constraints are behind the scenes with PSR all that boring stuff but it must have a bearing on how we behave in the championship and you know hopefully it gives us Headroom going into the Premier League when we get there that we haven't spent a load of money and we're in a situation like leester are so yeah maybe it's it's all it's all planned and it's there for a reason and we have to be shrewd and buy carefully bu the right players which I think I know it's early days but like lar ramazan we didn't really mention looked good when he came on as well really really sharp like a another version of Somerville basically he's what he looked like so you know hopefully they've got the plan right well the thing is as well I said like the hmer thing and again like it's probably dangerous and you could easily and probably rightfully criticize his thinking but like are they also thinking well you know with by haer like we're not convinced that he's going to do it in the Premier League I mean Sheffield United got relegated miserably you know are they just thinking they've got enough to to do it this season and and like they don't want to CL clock up the squad with players that aren't going to be able to do it in the Premier League as well I don't know you know that's that's maybe a stretch but you know maybe that sort of thing comes into their thinking and yeah like you say the right player like that's what it's about like it's not about making a marquee signing for the hell of it like everyone was happy with Jed Spence if you turned back the clock now would you still sign him just to make everybody happy at that moment rather than them all be pissed off off at the 49 is not buying a right back so yeah it it's it's fine we just got to make sure that we're the best team on the pitch and to me we we should I feel like we've we've got a squad that you know would be competitive in the Premier League don't over the top um I was saying we were gonna get relegated wasn't about two and a half months ago about a week ago I mean we've got Burnley coming up 14 days time obviously it's the international break which is good good timing nice to have a win going into it as well Burley big game you know come down from the Premier League parachute payments had to sell a bunch of players bought a lot of decent players as well and I think we'll be in for a real challenge against them yeah I think we'll find out a lot more about ourselves in that game you'd think yeah they've not had a good start in the end we have who would have thought it still the start it still the start like yeah if it lose to Burnley then it's a bad start isn't it yeah exactly so I mean you know things swing quite rapidly at this point in the season you've only got a look to last year when we were losing to Birmingham away so yeah I mean let let's see what happens I think the the good thing about these games is our players particularly new ones will be well up a game against Burnley because they know that they're a team that will come down to the Premier League and they want to prove a point anyone who's fallen down from the Premier League it's always a challenge for for for for those sort of sides particularly against a good side a great side like like we are which I think we will be this season so yeah let's let's see what comes of that anything else no all the best to Uruguay in the coming International break uh it's going to be fun to watch 12:30 on Friday well Saturday morning half the team suspended for fighting in the stands but yeah and that's it one who doesn't know Rocco is like if you're new to listen to podcast Rocco is a BL what would you a disciple case stalker yeah tracksuit top on Saturday to the game like almost without realizing I I was wearing a I was wearing a coat and then got outside realized I'd be too hot so like chucked it back in the house and yeah I was spotting the Uruguay colors at Ellen R Uruguay he said oh my God you going to say something that was it was it all right well that was that was really drastic thought someone might have got run
