over the weekend a game in which Iowa scored 34 points in the second half behind a really impressive run from Caleb Johnson a pair of touchdowns from Ree vandery and solid performance from Iowa's newest transfer receiver Jacob Gil what should we expect in week two I'll be coming out with my cawk preview shortly but in the meantime let's take a look at the week 2 depth chart that Iowa release on Monday a couple of changes a couple of which were not unexpected but are noteworthy we start at the top wide receiver we suck Rees vandery start the game and finish the game strongly against Illinois State he is now listed as your top wide receiver at that top receiver spot on the depth chart ahead of Jered Buie who was listed this is noteworthy Jered buy was listed as the number one guy at that position last week ahead of the game ree vanders has solidified himself as the number one guy you slide down to the other wide receiver spot that is of note Caleb Brown is back on the depth chart Seth Anderson was listed as the backup behind Caleb ouan we saw Seth in Street close on Saturday we'll likely get an update on Seth's availability Tuesday with Kirk fence unfortunately Seth Anderson has dealt with a lot of injuries specifically during camp and during spring practices he is not listed on this depth chart but Caleb Brown who was suspended for that offseason ow is listed as your backup to Kaden ouan so we'll see how much Caleb plays we didn't see Kaden really do much of anything on offense he was impressive in the punt return game it sounded like he got sick during halftime we saw a little bit of Zack lmer returning punts but I would anticipate we see Caleb Brown to accompany Reese vanders and Jacob Gil this weekend and that should be an interesting Trio to follow but may the best man win at that other spot but I think Gil and vandery are without question your two best receivers based on what we've seen in actual game action thus far how about running back Kamari Molton still listed at the top but Caleb Johnson coming off a big-time second half performance Kaleb was suspended for the first half of the game on Saturday against Illinois State due to a violation of Team rules during the offseason it sounds like that suspension had been known for quite some time this was not a recent violation that Caleb Johnson committed but he bounced back in that second half with a big run for a touchdown and a solid second half performance he is listed as the co-starter at running back you see that designation there so we've got Caleb Johnson and Kamari Molton listed as your number one running backs I know everybody is oooing and eyeing over what we saw from Caleb Johnson me personally I still think Kamari Molton right now is the best running back lean Williams still coming off that injury he did not look himself on Saturday so my guess is it's going to take him some time but I was impressed with what we saw from Kamari Molton stats aside he was really impressive with his ability to stay grounded stay on his feet and absorb contact and get extra yardage but those two guys listed as your number one running backs no real changes on defense but one thing to note with special teams for the first time this season Iowa listing return duties Kaden ouan is listed as your punt returner Caleb Johnson is your kick returner with Kaden Wen backing him up that is what we had expected what we've been reporting here for quite some time that those would be the guys returning kicks and punts and then the other change on special teams that most people won't care about but is noteworthy they had listed d as the holder going into week one I kept telling people it's going to be Ty Nissen and sure enough here week two Ty Nissen listed as the only holder he will continue to be the holder on special teams and it will be interesting to see do we see any fake punts or fake kicks this year and if there's a fake field goal try do we see Ty Nissen throw the ball the puncher from the Joo ranks who's now part of Iowa football and will be backing up re staken at punter but will also be IIs holder that will be an interesting one to follow so it'll be interesting to see I got to see this offense prove it in week two I'll talk more about that during my preview coming out here shortly be sure to tune in for a live special with Mark Rogers and a guy from across Enemy Lines Levi Stevenson from wide W Natty light our yearly preview over on the Iowa football at the voice of college football channel on YouTube 4:30 pm Central Time on Tuesday tune in live for Iowa Hawkeyes live with Mark Rogers myself and Levi Stevenson and then of course my preview coming out later right here from the Hawkeye of the storm
