Josh Hoover: Big 12 Media Days

all right frog fans Jamie plunket here horn frog Blitz frog is inside our podcast standing with the man qb1 Josh Hoover here at Big 12 media days Josh every frog fan needs the answer how are you feeling man I feel like a million bucks I feel really good I I hadn't felt this healthy in a long time so I'm excited about my body and just being available for our team and feeling really good and uh it's going to be good for me you know and for our team so I know that you were bummed to miss the Spring and tell me a little a little bit about just your recovery and your progress and kind of where you are and all that yeah I mean I'm full go I'm ready to go I've been you know doing all the workouts and everything and I've been throwing everything so I'm I'm 100% ready to go into this season so it's year two in Kendall BRS offense I know that you took time this spring to just really learn some more of the intricacies of that Playbook and I know you worked a lot with Ken seals and Hy as well just talk to me about the overall quarterback room and your feel coming into year two of this offense yeah I think our quarterback room is a really special group you know not it's not very common to have a group that's so close and everybody gets along and um so it just shows you the maturity of the guys in that room and uh I'm really excited about those guys and they push me for sure and I hope I push them and so uh it's really a great great group and great feel and I feel really good coming to Year too I think I learned a lot last season the last couple games and felt like I had made some big strides but this offseason I really learned a lot about you know just being a quarterback and all the things that you can do to help us be successful and so I'm excited about taking those things to the field and trying to prove that you know I am um I can be the quarterback here and be successful you know there's no teacher like experience what do you think your biggest takeaway from your experience last year is I think that I I learned that you know I can do this you know it's like there's always that confidence that you know you you play and you you know that hey like in practice you're like man I'm I'm I can do it you know but it's it's always like getting in the game and understanding like hey this is real live bullets and I can play so it's it's taking that confidence into this season and just doing uh what I can to help us be successful now Sunny mentioned leadership while he was on the podium earlier and I think the consensus among media folks is that you have kind of this innate natural leadership quality how have you been leaning into that this spring yeah I just try to be intentional about relationships and um just getting to know guys you know I think the best thing for me is just to let guys know on offense defense special teams if you're equipment manager or trainer like I try to be the same guy get to know people and just be relational and um I think that's really important as a quarterback to just let the guys know that you care about them and you care about their future and um so that's kind of me as a leader that's kind of my style is just getting to know guys and then you know when you have to say something like saying it you know sometimes you can't always be um you know not necessar I'm not say the bad guy but sometimes you have to say things you don't want to say but it's in the best interest of the team and so you have to grow up and be mature and and realize when there's opportunities like that and take advantage of them accountability right makes stronger makes the team stronger that's what I was looking for there you go well a lot of new faces on this offense both in the wide receiver room along the offensive line talk to me about the potential of the offense this season yeah I think the sky's the limit for us that's the way we feel about it and um you know our mentality coming to the season is we're going to score we expect to score a lot of points I mean we don't expect a punt we don't expect to have three and outs we expect to get first downs and move the ball and stay on the field and a lot of that's my responsibility is to take care of the football and give our Playmakers chances to make plays and so like I said that's a big Focus coming to this season is just turnovers and um as an entire offense you know and just keeping us on the field and giving our defense a chance to be successful as well not putting them in bad positions and so that's just um part of our our thought process coming into the season and we we think we're going to be um you know we're excited about our offense and what we're going to be last question it's the most important one you know the Jonathan s hooked you guys up with suits coming up for for Vegas this weekend why'd you go with the all black and I see got the white shoes down yeah all blacks just I'm kind of a basic just classic kind of guy you know I'm not I'm not the flashiest of gu so I try to just stay pretty pretty uh basic and I thought the all black looked pretty uh sleek and maybe throw some white shoes on make it look a little flash year but uh if it was up to me I'd be wearing jeans and boots but uh I we saw the picture on social media yesterday you had the jeans and boots on there you go all right man this is Josh hu TCU
