Oceanside cowboy hat maker's San Diego Padres hats a huge hit

Or in South Oceanside, just a few blocks from the beach, which may be the last place you'd think about buying a custom cowboy hat. So right now I'm conditioning the felt to get ready to sand it. Born and raised in East County. San Diego, people often ask Austin Zito, why he'd open a cowboy hat company here. You get that question a lot, a lot. Yeah. Yeah. People like, you're like two blocks from the beach. What are you doing? A used to live in Texas but he chose to hang his hat in Oceanside for a reason. San Diego County has more farms than any other county in the country. So when people ask me, why are you doing cowboy hats in Oceanside? That's one of the reasons why. Really? Austin's 10 gallon talent caught the eye of the San Diego Padres which outfitted of their players in his hats for this year's major league baseball all star game. How much did your world blow up when that happened? It was a pretty big deal. You know, I've gotten a lot of press from it. I've gotten a lot of people coming up to me, like in the grocery store and be like, hey, did you do the Padres hats? Which is super cool. It's never happened to me before. The Padres then shared those hats with a WWE wrestler. Dirty Dom ended up wearing two of my hats as well. The same sort of model basically, Austin grew up watching Dirty Dom's famous father. His dad is like one of the most legendary wrestlers in the world really. I mean, Ray Master, everyone knows him, Mr 609 his signature move is the area code where I grew up. You know, now it's Austin's turn to wrestle with the marketing opportunity of a lifetime and make some headway with new customers. One is a little bit more round and one is what's called a long oval once I make you a hat one. So I have your measurements exactly. Like usually I cut your exact head shape out of a piece of wood. His hats range in price from five, 100 to $1200 but they'll last so long, you'll only need one. It'll last you upwards of 200 years. Wait, that's a 200 year hat. Yeah, absolutely. This cowboy hat shop just blocks from the beach is unique. In another way. We're physically making every single thing here that we sell. We don't sell anything that we don't make hats off to Austin Zito who spent 100 hours making his major league mark on baseball's best boss in the Volly Zone. Jeff seve. Yeah, that looks cool.
