Going to check in live. Now with our Lauren Coleman who also listened to that entire news conference and has been getting the feel of the day outside Charlotte Mecklenburg police headquarters. Lauren brilliant the government building where they just held this news conference. Sadness, heaviness, Brokenness is the best words I can use to describe what was displayed in this meeting. The chief of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department even coming to tears as he described the events that unfolded yesterday afternoon, several questions answered, but several questions still remain. We are still sorting through a lot of the details, but I do want to walk you through what we were able to learn inside of this new conference. We did learn the name of the fourth officer who was shot and killed Monday afternoon. His name is Thomas Weeks. Officials say he was a deputy us marshal assigned to the fugitive task force. We also got an update on the condition of the four officers who were injured yesterday, two of them were released from the hospital yesterday, one was released this morning and one remains in the hospital after undergoing surgery as far as the suspects go police say two women were inside the home where the shooting took place. They are currently cooperating with investigators for questioning, but they have not been charged with anything at the moment. The police chief also said the relationship that these women had with the suspect who was shot and killed yesterday, they are not releasing that at this moment. So that's a question that we're still trying to figure out. We also learned that the suspect who was shot in the front yard yesterday afternoon in Charlotte was who US marshals was going to serve that warrant to. And um a lot of details again, still being sorted out. Officers are still processing the home where the shooting took place. They say more than 100 projectile casings have been retrieved as they examine this scene. Uh We also learned that an ar 15 rifle and a 40 caliber handgun were taken from the scene as well as several magazines. Again, new details that still sorting through. We do have the names of those officers who were injured and we will be sure to post those on line for you. But heaviness is the best way that I can describe this news conference. I do want to walk you through the series of events that took place yesterday. The shootout started as members of the US Marshals fugitive task force were serving a warrant on a convicted felon. They say was a legally in possession of a firearm according to police as officers approach the suspect opened fire. Neighbors were forced to stay in their homes for hours. Here's a look at those four officers who died for law enforcement officers were shot and killed yesterday while serving a warrant to a convicted felon. Those being two US marshals, Sam Polo and Allen Elliot. One Charlotte Mecklenburg police officer Joshua and the fourth being a US deputy marshal whose identity was just released in this news conference. His name Thomas Weeks.
