Did Davante Adams HINT at Aidan O'Connell? + DJ Glaze SHINES for Raiders & Thayer Munford Injured

Intro so the Las Vegas Raiders finished the very first preseason game of the 2024 NFL season and you know all the reports that we heard coming into the actual first game a lot of those got answered a lot of those things are now kind of in the the back of our minds we know what to expect with the right tackle position we know what to expect with the cornerback position right I think it's pretty much safe to say joron Bennetts our starting quarterback and there's upside with him as well the quarterback's position is still kind of up in the air and apparently Devonte Adams prefers Aiden a Connell over Gardner mchu he didn't actually say that but yesterday he did have a pressor and some people are speculating that he might actually want Aiden mconnell to be the quarterback based off of how he answered the questions now I don't know if I agree with it but we'll get into that a little bit later on but first Thayer Munford Hurt, DJ Glaze Update let's talk about the right tackle position because you know we had heard so many interesting things coming into Camp you know the mford looks more explosive he's better he's more physical he's faster he moves better uh he's gotten leaner and a lot of that that we had heard in the in the off season for me at least didn't really translate into the actual preseason game now we're not going to do a the monford film breakdown in this video but it is interesting nonetheless that you know DJ glaze also took Snapchat right tackle and I feel like he looked really really good and we will do a DJ glaze video probably today or tomorrow I might even just mix the two videos together but we bring this up because D monford is not doing himself a a service in fact today he ended up getting hurt again and this is unfortunate news to hear but sha Reed said that DJ glaz got a lot of work again at right tackle and it was because St mford left practice early due to an apparent injury he later returned to the field without his helmet and he had his right hand taped so if you guys remember last month D mford actually hurt his left hand in fact D mford hurting his left hand was what led to DJ GL actually getting snaps with the ones you know coming into this season I was 100% on board that Dar mford is going to be the guy for the Raiders at right tackle D mford will have every opportunity as we go into Week 1 2 3 4 and five to prove he's the long-term solution and I didn't expect there to be any sort of battle at right tackle but they mord hurt his left hand last last month and DJ glaze got some snaps and he apparently held his own against Max Crosby AP talked about it Tesco talked about it and he apparently jumped up the depth chart and looked really really really impressive to the point where the Raiders actually wanted to give DJ glaz some opportunities with the ones which over the next week and a half they actually did they gave DJ glaz a ton of opportunities and he's looked really really good and watching his preseason tape DJ glaze actually impressed me and looked better to me than the mford looked now I don't think that means he's going to win the job I think Dar monford experience should still theoretically lead to him winning the job but if they Buford is not practicing if he you know keeps having these hand injuries DJ glaze might end up just starting St ing you know come week one because every snap DJ glaze takes it's making him a little bit better it's making him more comfortable the speed of the game is going to slow down for him to me if DJ glaze takes every starting snap from this point until week one I think he'd be ready come week one now I'm not saying I think DJ glaze is going to be a great tackle in the NFL I'm just saying I'm not really sold on the mford I really thought this guy was going to look a lot better coming into that first game and he kind of looked like there mford from last year he did look a little bit quicker but it's still not quick enough in my opinion of what you need in a starting offensive tackle and his techniques not great either they m is often times Crossing his legs he's Crossing his feet uh he doesn't look great when he you know is having to to get to guys that are trying to speed rush guys are trying to get up field he doesn't look super explosive to me in certain moments and I know he didn't give up multiple sacks I know he didn't give it multiple sacks and quarterback hits but the one thing with preseason that you guys got to remember remember is when the Raiders call a dragon concept to the left the ball's going to be out because the quarterback knows where he's going to go with the ball and he also knows that the defense you know they're not going to mix coverage and they're not going to drop guys into you know they're not going to show Blitz and drop guys back like you're not doing that in preseason so the ball gets out super quickly so your offensive lineman generally aren't giving up sacks of course unless you have Anthony Brown at quarterback who isn't that good of a quarterback but Aiden conell was sharp he was getting the ball out and although there were losing reps that there mford had on tape they didn't lead to him actually giving up sacks or quarterback hits because aen Colin did a great job getting the ball out so when the actual regular season comes is not as quick he's not going to get the ball out as fast so the offensive line may have to protect a little bit longer so to me one of the things that I want to see as we go into the next couple of games is you know is St mford winning his snaps and is he not only winning but is he holding his his block until the play is fully over because there was a lot of plays where at the end of the play as he made contact with guys guys at the end of the play were getting around him and you don't want that as an offensive tackle because those things right there lead to losing reps because you can't always predict how long a play is going to essentially be they mford to me didn't really move that well but I do hope that going into the the next game he does move a little bit better I also don't know how much the leftand injury was impacting him and now he also has a rightand injury so I don't know how much that's going to really impact him but I also do know that DJ glazes looked pretty good to me especially at right tackle keep in mind DJ glazes did give up a sack at the left tackle spot but at left tackle it is a little bit different right I think DJ glaze is going to be a right tackle before he's a left tackle I think there's like three guys maybe even four that would probably play left tackle before DJ glaze would ultimately switch and and and get over to that side it's going to be an interesting battle over the next couple of weeks we'll see what ends up happening uh but one battle that some people think might actually be Did Davante Adams say he prefers AOC? over based off of how guys have been answering questions is the quarterback battle you know a lot of the beat reporters that I I follow and I I kind of watch and see what they're saying coming out of Camp a lot of these guys have kind of shifted their mind a little bit towards Aiden mconnell being the starting quarterback guys that were like 50/50 guys that weren't 100% sure who's going to be the starting quarterback a lot of them are shifting towards Aiden mconnell and I find it interesting because I felt like Gardner muu looked better than Aiden n Connell and I know statistically he might not have looked better but when you put the tape on and when you actually watch how both guys kind of operated the offense I felt like Garder M looked better now it wasn't a whole lot better right a Nado looked really really sharp with his passes as well but some people are speculating that both Antonio Pierce and Devonte Adams have been kind of hinting towards Aiden mconnell some people are saying that the Raiders definitely want Aiden mconnell because of the growth and the upside he has but check out what Devonte Adams had to say and you know also listen into the questions that were asked and kind of how he only spoke about Aiden mconnell in those questions what do you thought of what you saw from the offense in the first 30 minutes last Saturday impressed they had me hype man it was it was only the second time that I've been on a team and got to watch the game you know from home so um you know watching watching that first drive seeing the explosive plays coob starting it off running some good routes Aiden going in there doing his thing and and finding a good Rhythm early you know with with the with the QB battle and all that stuff you know that stuff can weigh on your mind sometimes and you know it can go one way or the other so for him to start off like that um I know it did a lot for his confidence and um you know the the flow of the of the team is a couple obviously was some some really clear nice plays and then there was some ones like the you know the one where jacobe went to the top of his route and had to kind of throw the guy off him come back to the ball and Aiden threw it before even turn like those are the type of plays that I really get fired up about and these dudes are in the game and I'm texting in group chats you know just in case they look at it at halftime or after the game but just let them know that I'm uh you know I'm fired up watching and can't wait to get back with them what did you see specifically from the quarterbacks Devonte I I mean they they both bought out they both did their thing and um you know Gardner came in and and picked up right where Aiden left off and they both played their game too you can see you know we we got two quarterbacks that are not necessarily the the same and um when you when you got a guy that that like Aiden who you know he's he's a extremely accurate you know thrower and um you know a little bit more traditional and he's playing his game and he goes out there and stays within himself and you know moving in the pocket and trusting the o line and obviously the o line doing a good job um keeping both of those guys clean as much as possible um you know I've seen a lot of good so hopefully we keep doing that and it's going it's going to make it hard on AP to to figure out but um um I'm I'm praying for nothing but success for both of them now in my opinion I don't really think that means Devonte Adams is favoring one quarterback or the other I do understand that he mostly was talking about Aiden mconnell when he was answering those questions but I also o do want to put this out there you know Devonte Adams has spent an entire year with Aiden a Connell right last year Devonte Adams Aiden Connell probably built a really good relationship and coming into this year this is the second year that Devonte and Aiden have been together and I also think that the mindset for the Las Vegas Raiders is is that this is Aiden McConnell's job to lose and Gardner Mitch has to go out there and win the job and maybe Gardner hasn't done that maybe he hasn't went out there and shown that it's his job to win or maybe Aiden mconnell hasn't you know done enough or they feel like he's lost the job now it's going to be interesting to see what ends up happening AP has already told us that the battle will be decided you know right after the cavys game essentially ends and I'm not sure if he's going to actually tell us in the presser or if it'll be the very very next day but we're going to know within the next couple of days essentially who the Las Vegas Raider starting quarterback is going to be now I'm okay with Aiden mconnell being the Raiders quarterback uh I would hope that what he showed us in terms of his pocket press I would hope that continues when the regular season comes around I would hope that the offensive line can continue to have success as they had against the Vikings and it wasn't perfect right there was still pressure to aen Connell but he did a good job kind of getting away from it and actually getting the ball out I would hope that that continues into the regular season if a Connell gets the starting job now at the same time if Gardner mchu wins the Las Vegas Raiders job I would hope that those you know quote unquote erratic passes that he had you know in in Camp where he would kind of throw it up into like double coverage or whatever it was I would hope that that doesn't also happen for the Raiders so we'll see what ends up happening uh in some other news Tre Tucker Update uh Trey Tucker actually got lasic eye surgery this this past off season and this really started making me think because Trey Tucker let's just be honest Trey Tucker looked really really really good he had two catches for 77 yards the guy looked really impressive one of the passes was thrown up there by gner muu and he just kind of found the football and he made a diving catch did a really really good job being able to kind of figure out where the ball's going to ultimately land and to me Trey Tucker looked good and one of the interesting things with Trey Tucker is he looked good last year as well but there were a couple of issues last year and there were a couple of issues coming into camp and I think the lasic eye surgery report maybe what the entire issue was all along you know I don't personally have lasic eye surgery but I do wear contacts um and I remember a long time back before I ever had contacts you know I used to play football without contacts and you know things would be blurry when I would look in a distance and up close it was okay but when I went and got contacts I realized what a difference it made for me personally it made me feel confident I was able to see more see further I was able to go and pick safeties off as an offensive lineman and for Trey Tucker as a wide receiver you know the the passes that NFL quarterbacks throw it's it's hard right it's fast the velocity on it the speed of it is fast and last year he struggled with catching the football so you know he may not have been able to see very very far and to me having lastic eye surgery is going to benefit him because now he can see the ball before the ball's ultimately released but you know if if there's a lot going on he'll be able to pick out where the ball is a little bit better the vision I think is a big aspect of guys being able to have success now I don't know if this guy had contacts last year if he didn't and he got lasic ey surgery and his visions that much better that'd be crazy to me to to be able to uh to to see that he didn't have that but I would think that this would actually benefit him and help him as we go into this season now in terms of him struggling to catch the ball early on you know one of the things we got to realize is if he didn't have anything last year and this is something completely new well from a vision aspect he has to now get used to it right he has to be able to get used to being able to see more and maybe that's why he had some drops right maybe he was trying to figure it out and maybe the you know the vision aspect of it changed a little bit so it took him a little bit longer to really put it together and ultimately figure it out but I think Trey Tucker is going to have a massive year for the Raiders this year Trey Tucker to me is that one guy that's just a different type of playmaker now Trey Tucker might not have a lot of touches last year he only had 19 catches and he had 331 yards on those 19 catches he had two touchdowns but if Trey Tucker has more opportunity if Trey Tucker has 50 catches I think he can go for a th000 yards on 50 catches cuz Trey Tucker is the type of guy that's going to have a catch for you know 60 yard yards a catch for 30 40 50 yards and we saw that because he had two catches for 77 in the very first preseason game I think Trey Tucker could have a really good year for the Raiders now it will also depend on how often we're actually pushing the ball down field I don't know which of the two quarterbacks is more likely to push the ball downfield Aiden mconnell Garder muu I'm not 100% sure to be honest with you but uh whichever quarterback can push the ball down field for try Tucker's purposes I hope they win the job because I want to see what this guy can do for the Raiders and it's crazy to think that because TR Tucker is like the fifth weapon for the Raiders right cuz you got Devonte jacobe Brock Michael you can probably put Trey Tucker and Michael May at the same level but uh you know that's like the fourth or fifth option for the Raiders I do hope he gets a ton of catches this year I do hope the ice surgery did help him but I found it interesting that he did ultimately have that uh and then the Raiders went out Raiders Sign New Quarterback and got a quarterback you know some people started speculating that the Raiders signed Nathan Peterman because of the fact that they don't like either of their two starting quarterbacks and it's crazy to me that we have to talk about this Nathan Peterman is not here because the Raiders don't like their two quarterbacks it has nothing to do with that Nathan Peterman is here because he's better than the two young two other quarterbacks that we have right the third and fourth options essentially Anthony Brown struggled the guy really really struggled and he didn't struggle just because of his offensive line yes the offensive line was bad but Anthony Brown just couldn't run the offense you know there was a play that I was looking at where uh it was a quick pass the guy should have gotten the ball out he decided not to and for whatever reason he ended up take those are plays where you get sacked or then you run as a quarterback and you pick up a couple yards but the offense is designed a certain way like you got to be able to play Within the structure and Anthony Brown struggled to play Within the structure of the Raiders offense and I'm not surprised that Nathan Peterman is now being brought in I'm not surprised that the Raiders went out and have essentially signed Nathan Peterman plus Peterman also has experience with luk ly Peterman has you know in the past played with LSI he's played in that scheme and system and I think it just benefits everybody that this guy has experienced with uh with with the quarterback now or with the offensive coach now one of the things to also kind of keep in mind is let's say a mconnell wins the job Garner Min shu's the number two quarterback uh usually the number two quarterback is not always the guy that's going to run the other team's offense like especially with the Raiders we're in a unique situation where we have two quarterbacks I think we're going to keep both quarterbacks uh you know we're going to keep both quarterbacks healthy we're going to keep both quarterbacks fresh both quarterbacks over the course of of uh practice even if one quarterback wins the job both quarterbacks will be ready basically every single week so Gman aen Conor will never be the Scout team's quarterback and I think Anthony Brown showed he can't do that and Nathan peterman's made a career out of being the scout team quarterback he's made a career out of throwing interceptions and and and raising the confidence of those teams so of the of the defense so it's going to be interesting we'll see what ends up happening but the Raiders did bring in Nathan Peterman has nothing to do with with our uh with our actual two starting quarterbacks lastly there's a Decamerion Richardson guy that I want to talk about there's a guy in the camon Richardson who a lot of people were talking about like this guy has so much upside this guy's going to be so good for the Raiders I even saw this article by PFF treager sikma who I believe he was at the Raiders Camp either last week or the week before he wrote this article he said that the Cameron Richardson is in line to be the Raiders quarterback to with the strong training camp uh he is essentially saying that the Cameron Richardson's going to end up starting uh he put it out there he's saying that uh Mississippi State quarterback Richardson was an early day three selection who had a chance to be a starter the second he was drafted he is a good fit on the Raiders depth chart that desperately needs someone to step up at quarterback cornerback to uh to me it's interesting that this guy thinks that Cameron Richardson's going to potentially win the Raiders job because I watched every single snap Richardson had against the uh against the Minnesota Vikings and he did not look good there were multiple plays where he looked lost there multiple plays where guys kind of got away from him he wasn't that fast in terms of processing he wasn't able to see things quick he wasn't able to react uh I think he gave up like two or three catches and I know statistically I don't think PFF said he gave up any catches but uh if you put the tape on he definitely gave up some catches he when we had some bad plays against the run and I don't you know it's it's it's his first NFL action right I'm not holding this against him in any way but I don't think camon Richardson is ready some people were saying even during the uh during the Raiders training camp some people were saying Richardson's looked really good this guy's going to win the job like our beat reporters were pushing the idea that dcam Richardson is going to win the Raider starting job there is no way Richardson wins his job over joran Bennett I watched every snap that joran Bennett was in the game Bennett looked like the Raiders best cornerback and I know he's probably not that right I'm pretty sure Jack Jones is better than than uh than jorin Bennett but jorin Bennett looked freaking impressive as hell man this guy was just all over those wide receivers he was locked in he was hip to hip the guy looked phenomenal and it's interesting because some people think Richardson might still win the job I don't think there is a battle at this point Corin Bennett in my opinion has won the job but I still saw some flashes with with Cameron Richardson first and foremost he's 62 62 and a half he's super fast right he ran a 43 440 yard dash so the fact that he's 6'2 R A 4340 yard dash those two things aren't that's not normal that's like I saw a completely different level of uh quickness and athleticism but athleticism and quickness doesn't lead to success especially for cornerbacks cornerbacks to one position where speed doesn't really matter especially 40 yard dash speed now you got to just be you know you got to be fluid you got to be able to move well and uh Richardson I feel like is fluid but he didn't really show that in this first game I am excited to see what this guy can develop into I don't think he's ready today but I still found it interesting that there are some people that still think Richardson will end up winning but I think the battle is over I think scin Bennett has won and I'm excited for the Raider secondary this year man even against the Vikings you know Sam darnold was now the starting quarterback of the Vikings JJ mcarthy has been ruled out for the rest of this year Sam darnold struggled I know he had like two big plays he had like a 19 yard pass and a 26 yard pass to me those two plays really just came down to the fact that the Raiders defensive line had not played an offensive line like the Vikings and I think those are the you know like you just got to get the cobwebs out right you just got to go out there you got to get punched in the mouth a little bit you got to get your you know the arms loose against the competition of the Vikings oon that was out there with the first team unit I think the Raiders defensive Line's incredible but they didn't look great against Vikings and I think a part of that was because they're you know just kind of ramping it up a little bit still and I also think on top of that you know you had the vanilla defense although one of the plays was against cover two and Sam Darnell read it perfectly the other one was cover three he threw a perfect pass over Robert Spain but outside of those two plays like they didn't really do a whole lot right Sam darnold had multiple plays where it was incomplete he had multiple plays where you know essentially the pass was either broken up the pass was you know thrown out of bounds uh he had multiple plays that you know one play was a sevenard pass on Jack Jones that was a nice pass he kind of timed it well and then the other one was like a one yard pass and the the guy ended up picking at seven eight yards and that was all Sam darnold really did like he didn't have a great game and I think a part of that was just because the secondary did a good job Christian Wilkins did a good job we got a little bit of pressure as well so I'm excited for the Raiders I think we're going to have a great year this year I know the quarterback position still kind of up in the air I have a little bit of confidence in both these quarterbacks I think Aden colell did a great job showing showing that he can really you know put the ball where it needs to go he has a really good arm and the garer M showed that he can make plays so whichever quarterback ends up winning I think the Raiders will be in a good spot especially if we can limit the turnovers and I think that'll be the key part of the Raiders having success me know what you guys
