the history of Forest Park tennis is simply extraordinary the Springfield tennis club was started in 1886 right back at the beginning of our great sport these current courts were built in the 1920s and immediately so many great players started to come through and play at Springfield way back to world number one Don budge all the way through the Jack Kramer Pono Gonzalez Used to come in town and then of course in the 70s myself Stan Smith my brother Chris who played on the tour was a top 100 player in the world my brother John Val Wilder who went on to play Wimbledon and it has been one of the top facilities in New England if not in the nation please please please come out on September 88th at Forest Park we start at 9 o'clock free food free ice cream for the kids free tennis in the morning for those little ones then a tennis exhibition adults play at 12 and then of course the big party 2 o'clock at Barney's it's going to be a blast the mayor's there Congressman Neil's going to be there and a whole bunch of tennis lovers supporting this great cause
