Surgery Secrets of D.C feat. Dr. Youn

all right welcome back to Citizen McCain today we have a very special treat again back for another appearance is Dr Anthony Yun who is the most followed plastic surgeon on Tik Tok and YouTube he hosts the popular podcast the holistic plastic surgery show and he recently published a book called younger for Life feel great and look your best with the new science of Auto juvenation thank you so much Dr Yun for taking time to come back oh I appreciate it thank you so much Megan so we are excited and a little obsessed with politicians in their plastic surgery uh that's what we're going to call this segment because it's just so fun to like push it back on all the people here in DC who have had plastic surgery and one of the people that is gossiped about a lot in Washington DC is Congressman Matt gates from Florida and he has had just from like pictures I've seen like quite a makeover since he has come into office and gain prominence as a big Maga person can you give me your professional opinion on what you think he possibly has had done yeah I mean the first thing when you look at me Gates is when he first came onto the scene he was honestly he was a little doughy his face was softer he was I think a little bit heavier uh since then he has leaned himself out now is it diet and exercise is it OIC is it wovi is it one of those medications I can't tell you for sure because unfortunately with you know whether you lose weight with one way or not we can't tell but I do think that the weight loss is a big part of it as far as cosmetic treatments you know one of the things that he has shown at times is a bit of a Spock brow if you look at his eyebrows there are times where his eyebrows appear excessively arched kind of like Spock or even Cruella Deville from uh the oneon-one Dalmations and this is actually a sign of Botox oftentimes whenever you inject Botox into the forehead it can help to smooth the wrinkles of the forehead but if you inject it in somebody who's got a bit of an arch of the brow and it's not injected very well you can overarch those brows and make the person look like Spock do you think he's had his teeth done as well you know I was looking at his teeth and it was a hard call I do think it's definitely possible he's had some veneers um I don't think he's had quite the the tooth makeover as let's say Governor chrisy Nome um but he definitely appears to have had some work done on them do you think it's good work uh I mean I think overall you know he he looks good overall I mean other than the Spock brows that come and go I think it just depends on whether he's had the injections recently you know botas itself lasts about 3 to four months and so uh and when people undergo injections of botas it's not like you get the same result the whole time uh I know myself you know we do botas I mean we've done tens of thousands in my practice and I get it occasionally myself initially you don't see any result and then it hits and it looks like it's overdone for a period of time for maybe a week or so and then it tends to settle down then after a few months it wears off uh and so I think with mad it's possible that we see the effects initially where it's kind of overdone for a short period of time for a couple weeks and then it settles itself down you brought up Governor chrisy gnome and this is something that I think there's actually been articles written about in places like the New York Times And The Washington Post about her uh magga makeover because when I first knew about Christy gnome when she was in Congress my sister-in-law worked in Congress she was kind of known for being like a North Dakota South Dakota mom like she had like a mom haircut and you know like not really over obsessed with her appearance and then I think as she gained more national attention during the pandemic and then all the rumors of her being president Trump's possible running mate that's obviously not off the table right now because of her bizarre story about her shooting her dog um it was interesting to see just her her how her turning herself into I guess what she thought would be uh what president Trump would like but I am not a plastic surgan but it is very obvious she has had a lot of work done would you mind explaining in your professional opinion what you think she's had done yeah so I mean the first thing we want we want to bring up are her teeth um so she actually did an ad for this to this Dental Center in Texas and she did say that when she was younger she had a lot of her teeth like were busted up so she does appear to have had some pretty extensive veneer work done now veneers basically it's made of porcelain and what they do when you get veneers there's a difference between veneers and caps so when you get first of all a cap cap is going to be more of a aggressive treatment where they literally will shave your teeth down into little nubbins and then they put a cap over it that's the porcelain tooth um and so that's something that is done quite often veneers are very similar but you don't have to necessarily alter the two structure as much that's why some people who get veneers sometimes the teeth look too big because if they don't alter the tooth as much sometimes that veneer can must be you know quite a bit bigger than the tooth and it can make the person look like they've got big Chompers now in her situation I believe she probably had veneers I think she had some damage to her teeth they probably did shave some of those teeth down and then put those veneers over them and they are blindingly white the one thing you know if you see somebody in Hollywood or somebody in Washington and they've got blindingly white teeth they're porcelain they're fake and you see it almost all the celebrities in Hollywood and a lot of people now in Washington DC so definitely that's what I would look at for her teeth as far as her face she does appear to have undergone a lot of treatments I think you start off with the botox her forehead is very very smooth her eyebrows are a bit arched it's possible she may have had a brow lift if you look at old photos of her I 100% agree with you Megan she used to be kind of like a rough farmer mom type of a person you know and now she's become this like glamour model uh and it's a very big change in her appearance uh so I think that she's had definitely bow toss in her forehead she's had I think her eyelids her eyebrows lifted potentially uh and I think the biggest change though that you're seeing with her is she appears to have had a lot of filler in her cheeks and in her lips and that's given her those big plump kind of real housewifey type cheeks her lips definitely appear to have been significantly plumped up now she's in her early 50s I don't think she's had a face lift I don't think she's had other extensive surgery I honestly just think that she's had her cheeks like a lot of filler into them and that's I think what we're seeing a lot of it's really weird because like you know this is sort of like a tongue-and-cheek segment we're doing with you because it is fun to like talk about the work politicians have had done like switch it up from people in Hollywood but when I say the politics of plastic surgery it's political that she did this because she was trying to like fashion herself to be like I assume like a very glamorous person with Trump she's looking more and more like Melania I mean really is what it comes down to I mean yes she does look a lot more like Melania and I know that again just like gossip here in DC I it from what I was told and this just allegedly there are focus groups that were done that people actually didn't like it as much they thought it was like overdone because she's supposed to be this like Ranch Hand Mom that's so relatable and you know I think it's a combination of everything it's like the really long hair extensions all the all the plastic surgery um if I were I actually have this idea that I may do at some point because like women running for office like I think there's a fine line between getting tasteful PL plastic surgery totally fine amazing and then completely overdoing it do you think that there is a level where if you look to housewifey if you do too many injections and whatever that it can turn boers off because maybe you look like you're more obsessed with your appearance than I don't know your work yeah I totally agree with you you know especially to the people that she's trying to court are going to be people who you know yes they may like seeing an attractive woman but at the same time I would assume that they would like a more natural appearance you know when I do facelift surgery when we do fillers the goal is to look good but to the extent where you see somebody you haven't seen in a while and they turn their head but they go oh wow you look really good and they can't really pinpoint why you look so good like oh maybe there's a change in hairstyle maybe you know maybe you've just you know gotten a lot of sleep lately like that's what good plastic surgery is unfortunately in Governor nome's case you look at her and anybody who knows anything would look at her go oh yeah she had a bunch of work done like it's obvious you know I mean it it just it looks very obvious to me that's not usually what people are going for unless you're in that type of you know house wipy situation where sometimes having had visible plastic surgery is kind of a calling card like a expensive bag of like oh look I have so much money that I could spend thousands on filler uh you know and that's a whole different type of a way of looking at it but I don't think that that's going to be what the Heartland is really looking for so yes I think that she could have done herself a service maybe take a few of those syringes of filler out uh a few less units of Botox a little bit of shorter you know hair extensions and it could have actually been a very positive thing for her um because I think people like to see somebody who takes care of thems but at the same time it it appears to have gone beyond that I agree you should open up a consulting firm here in DC uh I really think there's a market for that by the way uh the next person which again like this was something when Trump was in office and he may come back in office again uh Jared kushner's plastic surgery is something that was really gossiped about I hadn't noticed until someone told me hey have you seen his before pictures and I was like No And then when I saw jar kushner's before and after pictures I was like what did he do he looks like a totally different person so that's the question I present to you Dr Hune what did he do and why does he look like a totally different person in a very seeming short amount of time yeah I actually don't think that Jared's had uh any surgical work done I think that's a couple of things I think number one I do think he's had he's had some Botox the botox can definitely fill the forehead his forehead is very very smooth now which it wasn't quite like before plus like I mentioned before if you do botas in the forehead you can reshape the brows and so his eyebrows themselves sometimes are not Matt Gates is um but they are going in that direction where they are a bit more arched than they used to be that causes the eyelid itself to also appear different uh the other thing that he may have had done that's interesting because you don't see it in men a whole lot is some filler in his upper lip so he used to have a very thin upper lip his lip appears to be a bit thicker now which can be a more youthful type of a thing um so that's possible I mean you know I do believe that ivanka's had a a number of things done I actually made a YouTube video just about Ivanka that's gone viral about the things I've had I think she's had done but I think Jared is gonna be I'd say a little bit of some definitely some Botts I think in the forehead I think a little filler in the upper lip maybe he borrowed some from Ivanka who knows and I think he's really taking good care of his skin like he's got Perfect Skin this is not surgery this is possibly a combination of laser treatments deep chemical peels and getting on the right products you know and we know that you know they're definitely very healthc conscious so I really you know give them give them props you he and his wife they look fantastic uh at times he looks a little bit overdone but I think overall he looks good yeah I think they I think he looks I mean it's not my kind of look but lip filler and a dude is going to be a little bit of a road for me I understand men do it I actually uh for whenever if you will come back again there's actually a lot of rumors going around on Twitter that Ben Shapiro's lip filler is moving um do you know anything okay do you know what about this so I actually made a video on that and he actually brought it up on his show oh really it did he deny it well I don't think he liked that I said it starting to look like sher's lip so the story really with that is that Sher reportedly allegedly a long time ago had a um implant placed in her lip and the implant since then appears to have migrated downward so it's actually not in her lip anymore it's in like the top of her chin essentially and so they're actually I think there's like an Instagram uh handle of just like Ben Shapiro's lip lower lip or something like that because he has an oddl looking lower lip and when you compare his lip to sheron's lip it kind of looks similar and I made kind of ingest a video about that saying well I don't know they look similar I don't think Ben's had an actual lip implant I think that would be very unusual could he have had some filler in his lips even that I I don't know like he doesn't seem to me to be the guy that would do that but I don't know him well obviously but that's where this comes from his lipes his lower lip does look odd and it's either odd anatomical kind of abnormality or maybe a little bit of filler maybe a lip implant I don't know he has interviewed me in person before and I don't ever remember noticing his lip and then someone sent me again a picture of it and I was like that looks weird it definitely looks like he has put maybe filler in your lips is something like conservative dudes are doing now I have no idea between him and Jared Kushner but I'm going to look up the video that you made of him because like I said something everybody's talking about um finally we did Vladimir Putin last time uh I have to bring up dictator Kim Jong-un of North Korea uh you know he's just kind of a weird looking dude anyway with a weird haircut uh do you think he has had any plastic surgery to make himself look I don't know like a more youthful dictator so the deal really with him was many years ago when he was going to take the throne the the I guess Throne I guess you call it um they said that it was rumored that he underwent five different cosmetic surgery um actual events so like he may have undergone under knife upwards a five times in order to change his appearance to look more like his grandfather um Kim ilung I think was his grandfather's name uh and so that was afterwards he comes out and now he's got this round face he's got this pretty sizable double chin he's jowly and so these rumors have persisted the North Korean government has obviously said that that's not true there have been different kind of interesting now the Chinese government supposedly there have been some mixed signals of this and that as far as has he had something done or not I looking at him honestly the thing with this Megan is he's not a good-look guy and like I I'm Korean okay I have family members you know we a lot of Koreans have a rounder shaped face that's not my side of family my dad's family is a little bit more like that that honestly it's not the ideal look that you want to go after like I've never had somebody come to see me and say hey can you give me a double chin can you give me jows can you make my face look excessively round and heavy like his face actually makes him look heavier than he probably physically is usually it's the opposite of what people want now he's obviously a dictator and he does look more more like his grandfather so maybe he did undergo fat injections to his chin and these types of reversing looking good type of operations it just doesn't make sense to me like I said this is not typical most people want to look better after plastic surgery not worse well he's a psychopath so I wouldn't put anything past him putting stuff in his face to look weird more like his his grandfather um my last question for you when people come into your office and if they're asking for something that um maybe you don't think would be appropriate or you think would make people look bad or like you know not to bring up Christy gnome again but something that's just like a little more excessive um is it is it hard to tell people no and is it hard for people to sometimes like receive no uh I'm going to be 40 in October and I I I swear I swear to God on my on my life and my children's lives I've never had anything done uh that doesn't mean never I'm thinking about it I would be very open about it to have you on to have consultation um but I worry about like the slippery slope because I've seen people like Christy gome you know politics is just Hollywood for ugly people there's a lot of people in this town that get weird plastic surgery how do you deal with it when someone comes in and they want something extreme so you know for me it's number one is being honest with my patients and it's say no I mean I say no to probably one out of every five to seven patients who comes in my door usually it's because they have unrealistic expectations you know for me I have my own kind of aesthetic I I live in Detroit so I'm looking for something that's more natural but yes I do get people who come in and they're plumped up and they want more and unfortunately you have to say no the hard thing is saying no yet still having them not be let's say upset with you you know I've got a two-year waiting list and so I get people who come to see me they do a consultation and I tell them no and then they get mad they're like I waited two years I spent all this money it it makes it very uncomfortable at times because you want people to leave your office happy whether you say yes or no or not and sometimes that's a little bit of the art of being a plastic surgeon is how do you say no to somebody um yet still have them you know like you and not like you know bash you online afterwards that you said noce them it's tough though because in the end sometimes it's a lot easier to say yes than no in these situations but as a I feel an ethical doctor um I always try to put that first and what I feel is best for my patient and sometimes that's what I just tell them is like you know we may disagree I think that this is best for you you think something else you know that's okay and usually then they'll go to some other doctor down the street they'll get something done and honestly Megan Sometimes they come back to me afterwards botched and they go well can you fix me and it's like oh my gosh now we got to deal with this oh no yeah that would be very tough um you like I said are the most followed plastic surgeon on tiktop and Tik Tok and YouTube I had followed you before you came on my show but now after I think like the algorithm I just see your work all the time um how do you it's what I me it's fantastic I really like your your your feeds how do you choose the content you're going to make um because I always find is it just like bu people in the news it's just the requests from people because you know it's a big deal to be the most fall plastic surgeon on Tik Tok and YouTube yeah I think there are certain buckets of content that I create I one of the big things is I always want to try to empower people to feel better about themselves and not to feel like they have to undergo cosmetic treatments to feel good um that's a big thing is we are coming from a classic surgeon but for me I want people my main goal is for people to feel better um after they go to my page than they did when they started than before um and so and when you look at okay who follows me 70 or 80 % of my followers are women those women are typically between the ages of about 25 and 60 and so my content is really geared towards helping encourage them to use plastic surgery only as a last resort you know that's a lot of what was in my U my last book younger for life it's this a concept of Auto juvenation and the fact that we all contain our bod contain immense regenerative abilities to turn back the clock naturally just by giving it those tools of having the right diet skin care you know natural treatments noninvasive treat and only using actual surgery as a last resort uh and so that's really the bigo and everything kind of comes from around that then every once a while I'll create something that I think is kind of funny that comes to mind that I'll thr out there as well we just have one more question for you Miranda's chomping at the bit she has a question she wants to ask you and then I promise we'll let you go all good um so Megan and I are very different when it comes to injectables and all that stuff because she's very like I'm not putting no in my face she's nervous understandable and I me I live in Los Angeles born and raised so I've had Botox a bunch of times and I did a lip flip and something that I've been so insecure about my whole life is my top lip and I can't tell if you can see me but it's like inverted my people are Norwegian okay so um we have zero top lip I have a consultation to go in for some filler and I'm so terrified about a pain but be bruising because I don't want to be walking around looking like I got punched in the mouth and um we're not allowed to like we're allowed but it's not very cool to wear masks anymore because I probably should have done this a few years ago when I could have hidden it for a few weeks so are there thing like do you recommend that I should even bother with this like is this something that is making me look weird and B how do I mitigate these side effects okay few things uh number one you want to get off any fish oil aspirin nets for a week before the treatment okay uh number to first try the lip flip just because that's a super easy thing okay did did not do anything she Megan's like what's a lip flip so Botox if you inject the tiniest amount of botos in your Cupid's bow which is the top part of your lip it can cause your lip to Evert a bit and make it look a bit larger and that lasts a couple of months super easy but doesn't last very long so now you're looking at that doesn't do it at filler uh a couple of keys if you want to make your experience as as easy as possible number one make sure that it's the right filler there are certain fillers that are made for the lips um so for my in my practice we use let's say there's rylene silk there is juviderm Bella so there are certain ones are specifically made for lips they're softer they're going to give you a softer appearance uh and so you want to make sure you look at that and see what type of filler they use and then the third thing is if they use a canula you can inject filler either with a needle where literally you puncture the lip and you you know with multiple injections in my practice we use a canula which is kind of like a long blunt needle and the idea is that it Glides underneath the surface of the skin allowing you to inject the filler but without the multiple pokes each time you poke the skin if you hit a blood vessel then that can create a bruise when you use a canula because you're gliding underneath the skin the risk of bruising is going to be less the amount of trauma is going to be less and you're going to in general heal heal more quickly and then the final thing I would get some arnica and Broman these are um supplements that can also help reduce inflammation and swelling and then ice it right afterwards like right after it's done ice it and ice it for the next hour or two to help keep that swelling down okay and so would you recommend because I want it to be subtle I just want to turn it back out so like half a syringe not a full syringe obviously because I'm she's like I can't wait for your twoe waiting list Dr g i take come to Detroit so so yeah so definitely it's going to be the amount that you use is going to be key but keep in mind Miranda is when you get the treatment done the lips swell up faster than any other part of our body that's why somebody gets punched in the face you never hear about a fat cheek or a fat chin it's always a fat lip because the lips swell so quickly when you undergo these injections your lips are going to swell very quickly at the time of the injection and you may freak out right at right as you're walking out the door of like oh my God I did too much that's going to mostly go away within a couple of hours that's going to settle itself down so the only thing I encourage you you know unless you have got tons of money to spend you know go don't don't underdo it because you may find that what looks good when they're injecting it is going to be less afterwards in general you probably want to leave the office feeling like you overdid a little bit because that SL is really going to come down do they have to do my bottom lip also to match the top the key is you want there are very natural Dimensions the lower lips should be about 50% thicker than the upper lip Okay so you want to keep those proportions in general the same now there are some people who can get by without it like Angelina Jolie her proportions are different she's like 5050 U but in general when people really don't look right is when they just or they overdo their upper lip or they just do their upper lip and their lower lip is smaller then you look like a duck and that's what's going to give it away that's not what I want okay no Dr Yun thank you for uh talking to us about the politicians and their plastic surgery and then giving Miranda a your consultation her lips lip ladies that look like me that are like so and it's getting get I'm all for plastic surgery people want to get I'm I'm not a hater I think it's fine I'm just fascinated by uh people overdoing it and I'm fascinated by politicians in particular because you know they go on the stump and pretend like they're always like above everything and just only thinking
