Mike have you talked to TAA and what have you observed from his condition um yeah I talked to him uh in the locker room obviously I talked to him on the field um and then talked to him in the locker room before before he head he was headed home you know he was um in in good spirits what was your immediate thought when you saw him go down and into the the fencing position um uh yeah there uh my thought was concern and I was just worried about my guy so um yeah this it's uh yeah not not something that you uh ever want ever want to be a part of you know you you hope not to Mike obviously is very early in the process with Tua do you foresee a trip to the injured reserve or do do you have any insight on that you know the uh as right right now um you know I'm not really it it's more about uh you know getting a proper um procedur evaluation tomorrow and taking it one day at a time I the the furthest thing from my mind is you know what what is the timeline you know I want to know um I I we we just need need to evaluate and um and you know I'm just worried about my um you know my teammate and uh like like the rest of the guys are but we'll we'll take uh we'll get more information tomorrow and then um take it day by day from there Mike regardless of how he progresses through protocol from here how will what happen in 2022 impact how you and the team handle Tua this time around um I I think it's it's important to to approach each and every situation um to the you know much like approach every injury um with it which is basically all right we're going to handle this particular situation with this particular player um you know every situation is um unique to its own so you know I think I I think there's um you know for me I I'm not worried about um anything that's out of my hands in terms of I'm just worried about the the human being and you know he'll he'll drive the drive the ship um when we get the appropriate information but it's day-by-day health is what you know of you know really uh try to approach all the stuff that way particularly um with concussions like you think it's safe for Tua to play football considering he's had four concussions in I think four or five years um yeah I think that's uh from a a medical standpoint that's um I I don't approach things that I'm far inferior of expertise uh I I I I'm just there to support um my teammate like I said and you know I I think I think you know there's there's uh for for me to go ahead and forecast things that I don't know in in my non-field of expertise I don't think that's appropriate um I I think I think we'll we'll find out some more information tomorrow in terms of uh uh where where um two is at he'll he'll you know be able to spend um a good amount of time being evaluated and then we'll have conversations and and progress as as appropriate but um you know I I I I'm like the the rest of his teammates who he he uh he went around the locker room and and connected with um you know trying to keep as a as a leader he's trying to keep the guys heads up and and uh and and he'll he'll be in the office um tomorrow to to be have the appropriate care Mike uh even before that injury there really it wasn't the kind of night you probably expected um could how how do you explain what played out there tonight ooh um you know it it's a it's a tough one that uh you know I think um there there was a lot of uh High expectations and Ambitions for the game uh fully knowing that it was going to be a tough one um but I think I think every person on the team would tell you uh the when playing a foot good football team if you're if you're minus uh three or four whatever it was and then with the fourth Downs um on top of that like no one foresaw that so I I don't think you can win uh um you might be able to win one out of a hundred with with those uh the nuts and bolts of that and and I think that's the main thing that the football team uh is feeling is supreme disappointment um because it's uh they' they've put a lot into it they have high expectations and um you you can't even you can't even evaluate appropriately when when you're uh when you're playing football that way and giving it to the opponent and uh you know so giving them extra possessions especially a quarterback like that so you know I think it it's you know football is a tough tough business there's you know like I told the told the team like th this hurts for a reason um and then you just you have to find out if if you need uh you know I I think I think we have enough veteran players in that locker room that understand that the belief will come from within because you uh quite frankly you can already Turn the Page and know the know what's going to be said about us and and that's probably going to last for um last for a while we'll have plenty of opportunities to um you know uh uh really take take the take the uh just sheer um frustration and anger out on um our our the way we approach our jobs day in day out um it's also you know very much weak too and um and that was our first division game and it feels um way bigger than that because you know there's uh there's a lot of history to to this uh this matchup and um there's a lot of things that we thought we were going to take care of that that um are are are are definitely not taken care of so you know I I think it's a it's a gut check for the for the team early in the season um I I I I look at things like uh if we would have won by 30 um what does that mean you know um I think that puts uh the the game in perspective it's one loss that's you know that really Cuts deep um but that that can either be a good thing or a bad thing depending on how you respond to it so um I really believe in um in in the locker room I believe in the coaching staff and and uh you know I better believe it cuz or it's going to be a while before um uh it's going to be anybody but us believing that and that's okay um I think you have to uh these types of moments um where you uh your expectations and and what you put in to things um far exceed the result uh you know the you you can't hide in situations like that and so I'm I'm expecting uh this to I'm expecting to move forward as a team and um have have this be a galvanizing moment in in our season as we look back on it down the road um and how do you do that you you you handle tough situations um you come together as a group and you you make sure that you clean up the things in your game that uh led to this and you know we really didn't uh the team wasn't given a a fair shot necessarily um tonight because you know we had some absolutely catastrophic uh uh misgivings with with with the football and that that's what's going to happen um and I you know I suppose it it's best to know that um it's better to learn that sooner than later um and we have a uh a gigantic season ahead of us and we're one and one and there's there's some there's some adversity welcome to the NFL that said Mike the adversity in the season ahead in all six with the uncertainty on what's next for two how much confidence you have that you could be able to bounce back from this with Skyler for whatever foreseeable time that is yeah I think um I think uh as a as a rookie um I know you guys or I know everyone doesn't get to see um Skyler play I don't know um what our timeline is I'm not concerned with that uh you know we we we played with um Skyler as a as a rookie and um with the season on the line and um found a way to uh uh win an elimination game and go toe-to-toe with this um very same organization in a playoff game I think that and he's he's a much better player than than he was then um you know that those are things that the team the team feels uh you know I think guys uh really believe in in Skyler so um I I I have no you know that I have I have the utmost confidence in him that's why he's our backup quarterback and you're always very aware that um injuries happen in the National Football League so I you know um you you can't do anything in the National Football League uh getting ahead of yourself you can look at one OPP opponent and you can look at that uh the next day and try to um get better at something and and uh and then build on that and get better at something else the next day and that's kind of the way um that this team will approach it I I think um I think they're uh we have a a very experienced team with a lot of leaders and um leadership is called upon in moments like this so uh uh I I don't see um people putting all their uh this was not the um Super Bowl although um you know it it was a ve it's a very very hard game to take I I know this is uh imprinted uh this will be imprinted in in the minds of of all our guys for for the the rest of the season for sure um and you know that's there's storylines evolve um and uh uh every single year and and um multitude of ways and the you have to as a team just like you can't um you know a a season ago um or or the season previous you know that it was new to the team to to get excessive praise um that's something that you have to uh you have to defend yourself against and then you know on the same token when you're one in one and um the the there's going to be a million people that say we can't and so you have to decide if if you want them if you want everyone to be right or wrong um and you know I think I think uh the that's that's what's at stake is um are are you is your team motivated and motivated by outside um sources or is your team um you know worried about the right stuff and and getting better and contining to uh uh evolve as a team together so I um adverse times um really really suck on the front end but are very very validating um when you push through them especially on a team collectively so that's what we'll be um chasing here in the near future you've gr grown particularly close to two I was I was curious how you just focus your mind completely on football right after seeing a scene like that I saw you I think you gave him a kiss on the side of the head when he walked off the field how do you coach the rest of that game thinking about his wellbeing the yeah I I I always have those um extremely uh human moments um just with with all the things that come in football um in particular uh in injuries are are difficult for me um but at the same time you know I it's there's so many people depending on my focus that uh if I if I I don't I don't really see um I don't really see that like a there's a lot of other people um that are also depending on me just like two is so you have to look at it like that that's where my mind goes um there's uh it yeah it it's it's not the easiest thing in the world for sure um but you know nor is having this job so you get you got to you got to step up we saw uh teron uh internet out and is is he okay uh I'll get more information um you know I don't really he he was battling um and uh you know um I don't really have um much Beyond uh what tomorrow's assessment will be this is always super fast right after the game um to you know to be able to sort through that so we'll have more information tomorrow for sure but um uh it to be determined I guess iess how V play tonight especially with the the injury no I thought I thought Devon um I thought he really uh showed um some really cool professional growth in a short week he was in the training room um nonstop trying to trying to take advantage of this opportunity and you know he knew um you know we already taking a a a shot at that in in that position so what he was um able to do tonight uh is he was he I thought he performed um very well and the only reason he was able to have the opportunity was because he really um he he really went all in uh and in the process showed showed his teammates how much he can be counted on cuz he was you know literally living um in the training room to to get out there and he um I thought it was a it was a cool um individual piece of growth um and otherwise uh pretty pretty miserable experience on that first interception why were neither Tyreek Hill or Jaylen wad on the field for that third down um so there's uh on on that uh on that interception that uh we it got they were coming off we're trying to put um Jaylen back in the game but we're were kind of down in the clock and um quite honestly the the way the defender was playing um it it was the the ball was a little little behind um uh Grant uh and I'm not sure what difference that would have made um but you're early in the game there's you're trying to rotate guys and make sure that they're fresh um we we do that uh often and uh they you know it was unfortunate that that was the result question mik when you see Tua check in on other guys in the locker room after the night that he's had with a smile on his face what goes through your mind um uh you know those how how much he loves his teammates and he how how much he uh he he loves being out there with it with with his teammates really and you know just another another example of um his his great character and Leadership you know I I think that when something happens to an individual and you see their response um is less I mean he he's concerned about his teammates that tells you everything about the type of person he is and um and and he knows what he means to this this team and shows a lot of awareness in that regard cuz he knows um there's a lot of guys that are that that are worried about him so so um yeah I think he it goes through my mind is he's a great great human being and a great teammate oh
