State Gamecocks and the Cardinals of Louisville and we're set to bring you another great matchup in the world of NCAA football and here come the [Applause] Cardinals the Cardinals are a confident bunch of kids and rightfully so Kirk this team is just too powerful Louisville comes into this football game led by their quarterback and he's such a leader Brad believe me he won't buy into any of this pregame we're going to blow him out hoopla he's a focused competitor and he'll be ready to play I agree with you on this one watch out for the Cardinals we'll see how these two teams play in this game as they prepare for the opening kickoff here's the kick number 16 Fields it to the 18 kickoff return n y number 16 on the [Applause] return this quarterback is the leader of this team but he's going to need some help from his offensive line today as they go up against a very good pass rush you got that right Brad he the focal point of this offense and the defensive line knows it they're going to be coming after him hard today when you're as good as this kid is at playing quarterback there's definitely a bullseye painted on your chest we'll see how he handles the pressure y so it's second and 10 ball on the 27 the Gamecocks line up in an eye formation rolling out to the right side has his fullback and he's tackled they complete that playaction pass good for seven yards yain on the play thir it's third down and three to go ball on their own 34 they line up in the jumbo set third and short and they hand it off they'll drop in for a loss they couldn't even get that drive started take the keys out of the ignition sweetheart cuz this defense didn't let him even get out of the drive y they line up to punt this one away number 37 punts it and he didn't get much distance on it number 86 signals for a fair catch great start so far as their defense forced the early Punt and now the offense gets a shot at putting the first points on the board they'll start this drive at the 47 yd line number 12 with three wide receivers he's looking down the middle complete they'll bring him down now that that good look and play the quarterback put it where his receiver could get it and now they have a first down what I like is the faith that this quarterback has in his receiver he's not afraid to throw it down [Applause] field first and 10 ball in the 28 a Back Field drops back to pass with the throw open man and it's his wide receiver short pass there and they get a moderate gain there's nothing wrong with nickel and Diamond him down the field second and Six coming up here ball on the 24 yd line this is the kind of running back who can make you pay when he's in the Zone on the ground with the tail back a little Juke brought down a 5yd pickup for the tailb yd on the play it's third down and a yard for the first down ball in the 19 yd line that formation here they'll throw for the first across the middle great coverage and it's intercepted oh boy I bet he knew as soon as he released that football that he shouldn't have made the throw that's the thing when you're under that kind of pressure it takes away that one Split Second you need to scan the areas you know where it's a safe that's why a pass rush is so crucial to a defense it allows you to intercept those passes from the quarterback they'll go to work at the 18 yd line on the 18 yd line the Gamecocks with four receivers back to pass he's looking he wants it all going long he's got it on the run at the 30 to the 20 to the 10 goodbye what an athletic play by the wide out this guy's one of the most 19 let's watch this defense on how aggressive they are they were able to get a pick the last time and they're like a wild animal when they smell blood they go in for the kill make it easy coach you're getting excited hey that's right sweetheart I'm always excited they'll work from the shotgun High snap as he works from the gun wants to throw outside incomplete pass number four the intended receiver on the play second and 10 ball on their own 29 29 yine number 12 back in the gun they to the back they'll wrestle him down in the back field excellent play by the defense that time as they swallowed him up before he got back to the line it's more like they devoured him he had no shot of breaking clean third down and 10 coming up ball in the 29 Jacksonville State put six DBS on the field to counter this five receiver look he lets it Go and got him and they make the stop that's how you get a first down coach they took a risk and went for the long ball and voided it pay off excellent play he drops back looks LS this one out to the left and it's caught he might have a chance and down he goes nice decision by the quarterback Not only was it good decision-making but the offensive line protected just long enough for him to find his Target and when you combine the two it'll be a first down nine out of 10 times 11 yds out the cards come out in the Ace formation gets the ball no they faked it wants to throw outside they fake the hand off and complete the pass good for six yds the Cardinal come out in the Ace [Applause] formation play action he rolls out to the left throw good job there by the defense to get a hand on it it was Kirk but when you're going out for a pass and the ball is in the air you need to go after it and come down with it you just can't watch the defender bat back the pass throws short it falls incomplete not quite enough for the first looks like they'll turn it over on Downs you know what I think they still made the right call there yeah it was worth the outside and they make the stop I like the defense that was called they just didn't make the play on the ball you're right wasn't necessarily bad defense the offense just executed in the result is a left and that one's Fallen incomplete you got to keep it under control that's some nice arm strength but it doesn't matter if it's not on target you're absolutely right coach you have to be accurate the 32 yd line number 12 comes to the line with three wide counter play and he's taken down four yd gain by the back gain of four on the play it's second down and six to go ball on the 36 yd line they come out with four wide out he drops back steps up looks throws short and he dropped it the F's incomplete number seven the intended receiver on the play now it's third and Six coming up ball on their three and out they're on the right side of the 50 as they start this drive they get it out there on the TOs and he's taken down they got four yards on that one gain of four on the [Applause] play it's second down and six to go ball on the 41 they line up with split backs they go with a [Music] toss breaks one and he's all the way down to the 12 talking to this tail back during the week he told me to be success in this system you got to not only be able to run the ball but also block and pick up the blitz as well looking at the expletives coming from the opponent's sideline there it seems as though he's been pretty [Applause] successful about 12 yds out 12 y the Gamecocks come out in a bunch formation it's slap he's gobbled up in the back field they lost too much yardage that time what do you think coach I think you can't BL in the back on that one I don't care how good an athlete you are you're not going to be able to Showcase your abilities without some blocking one man Back Field setting up the play action looking so someone got a hand on it looks to have been shaken up a bit on that play yeah I don't think it's too serious though guys he's a tough athlete I think we'll see him back in this game passing situation here on Third and long and this is the fifth play of the current Drive they come out with three wide receivers he drops back he steps up across the middle couldn't haul it in you got to be kidding me that's one area the coaches say he can really improve and he should have had a touchdown there four and long ball at a 19 yd here comes the field goal team short kick number 85 takes it the 15 they're ready to start another Drive hoping to duplicate the results of the last one which ended in a touchdown they'll set up shot at the 33 10 the Cardinal with four receivers throws the senior makes the catch there he goes and they bring him down wow nice catch way to look it in heck of a job by the wide receiver these guys are moving the ball down the field [Applause] first and 10 ball on the 41 yd line going with the shotgun here back to Passat he's going left and it's caught and they make the Stop and guys he's already over 200 yd passing in the first half well he's off to a great start it'll be interesting to see if he can maintain this level of play for the rest of the game [Applause] it's first and 10 ball on the 23 yd line Louisville comes to the line only one man in the back field throws this one out to the left got it touchdown Louisville that was a well drawn up play for the wide out they saw something upstairs it led to a touchdown you can think the play calling there very impressive [Applause] and here's the Pontiac Drive summary and it looks like they're ready the kickoff number 16 back deep to return and it's a short kickoff number 16 takes it the [Applause] 14 three points was the result of their last drive as the offense heads out for another [Applause] return they'll start this drive at the 36 3 yd and they have three receivers bunched Louisville brings in their nickel package they'll throw on first down throws it out there complete they'll bring him down they just took what the defense gave them on that play yeah you're right that was a good job of getting that pass completed for positive [Applause] yardage it's second down and four to go ball in the 42 y number 10 with four wide receivers drops back to pass and it's caught nice heads up play by the quarterback Yep they're moving a chain that's a first down first and 10 ball on their own 48 the Gamecocks line up with two tight ends he's looking throws has it to the seniors so it's complete but they didn't get much there and that's because the defense was just waiting on it and they attacked the quarterback should have found somebody else down field it's second down and eight to go ball in the 50 number 10 lines up in the shotgun he drops back he gets the pass away finds his receiver and down he goes nice decision by the quarterback Not only was it good decision- making but the offensive line protected just long enough for him to find his Target and when you combine the two it'll be a first down nine out of 10 times first and 10 this is the to go ball on the 40 yd line the defense lines up with six DBS here's the option laterals back he's got an opening brought down a gain of eight and a nice decision by the quarterback to give it up on the option third and two coming up here ball in the 32 32 yd Jacksonville State will line up in a jumbo set here throws to the middle and he can't hang on to it nice pass just wasn't caught and when you're a tight end you usually don't get too many passes throwing your way so you got to catch the easy ones on the 32 yd number 37 set to punt number 37 punch it and he didn't kick that ball well at all number 35 calls for the fair Catch and it goes into the end zone down for a Touchback they did a great job on their last Drive moving the ball down the field for a touchdown let's see if they can duplicate that on this drive they'll go to work at the 20 yd line number 12 has four receivers lined up here throws it to the outside and it's the senior he ran a good route there and was able to pick up yards underneath the coverage it's okay to move the ball in small portions because it relaxes the offense and can open things up for the big play second and three coming up ball on the 27 2 Y Line number 12 with three wide receivers they keep it on the ground with a tail back and he's taken down so he got a few yards on that carry you know what guys if you could continue to pick up small chunks of yards like that you can really start to wear a defense [Applause] down it's first and 10 ball on the 33 yd line three wide outs here he Jes Miss tackle and down he goes that was a pretty good run incredible effort there running the football by this guy first and 10 ball on the 43 Louisville comes out of the shotgun they'll throw on first down complete knocked out of bounds I like the defense that was called they just didn't make the play on the ball you're right it wasn't necessarily bad defense the offense just execut it and the result is a first [Applause] down it's first and 10 ball on the 39 number 12 is in the zone and looking to make a play he unloads it they'll bring him down almost six yds on the playaction gain of six on the play it's second down and four too and this is the there thir third and four this is a seventh play of this drive the Cardinals line up in a goal line formation back to P steps up in the pocket LS this one out to the right and they couldn't hook up on the current drive when this quarterback's in the zone as he is now he can do a lot of damage to the defense and he's taken down at the 15 that was a good play by the halfback picked up about five yds on the option third and four ball on the 15 yd line there in in the Red Zone where last time they came away with only a field goal setting up the play action throws this one out to the right he put too much on that throw that's his big tight end he's definitely not a track start I think the quarterback just overestimated his speed number 47 lines up for the field goal he gets it up and it's good the Stop and it looks like he got past the first down marker just a misdirection really the defense was fooled enough and the result was a first down for the [Applause] [Music] tailb it's first and 10 ball on the 37 yd line two tight end set on the ground with a tail back and down he goes That's a seven yd gain seven yd gain on the play second and three this is the fifth play of this drive line Ace Back Field who Shing B move and he's drilled oh man he'll feel that one cor that's called making a statement when you get into the back field like that and put somebody on their back it really sends a message third down and three coming up ball in the 30 yd line Y they come out in a nickel they run a counter tack he may have gotten back to the line of scrimmage no game on the Play fourth and three ball on the 30 yd line they're going to try a long field goal here led up for the the kick is up and this one doesn't have the distance kick is no good they'll set up shot at the 30 first and 10 the Gamecock line up with two tight ends there's a play fake he'll dump this one off brought down a pickup of about three makes the reception three yd gain on the [Applause] play second and seven ball on all on their own 35 they line up in the shotgun nice play fake he's looking for his man someone got a hand on it the quarterback lob that ball toward his receiver and it goes incomplete thanks to a tip well he gave the defense way too much time to get over there and make the playall 35 y Jacksonville State ready to put this one away number 37 punch it and he didn't kick that ball well at all number four Fields it at the 39 time once again for this offense to come back out start another [Applause] [Music] Drive they'll get the ball here at the 39 Louisville sets up in the eye they go with a toss gets past to tackler and he's tackled the halfback gets the call and picks up five 5yd gain on the play second and five coming up here ball in the 44 Louisville comes to the line only one man in the back field they keep it on the ground with a tail back tackle twoy pickup 19 on the carry gain of two on the play we got third and three here ball on the 46 yd line Y they line up in the jumbo set they'll work the right side sheds that one and they make the stop picked up a first down on that carry yeah a good job up front by the offensive line they picked up some nice blocks to allow that back to get in there for some extra [Applause] yardage it's first and 10 ball on the 47 yd line the guards come out in a shotgun [Music] [Applause] 391 looks throws to the middle off his hands and incomplete I know that pass was fired pretty hard but you still have to catch it that's right the only reason is out there is to catch the football second and 10 ball right around Midfield seven yd line they line up in a eye on the ground left side takes off a tackle they'll bring him down they'll get two on that one on the Run gain of two on the play thir so another third down upcoming for the off y six DBS in the lineup he drops back he steps up looking throws down the middle found his man here he goes there's a Miss tackle he's all the way down to the 17 yd line what an amazing catch first down boy Brad you said it that is a big time play there spectacular catch and great body control there on the long pass reception [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] it's first and 10 ball on the 17 yd line number 19 wants the ball we'll see if they give it to him they go with a toss he's hit and got away he can scoot touchdown Louisville very impressive run by the halfback to find the end zone good play call here by the offensive coordinator he realizes when you get down into the Red Zone and you have a halfback like this just give him the ball and let him find his way into the end [Applause] zone great and he TS on the extra point so here's the Pontiac Drive summary to recap what just happened [Music] looks like they're ready for the kick L is lined up for the kickoff number 27 and this one's a short kick number 27 Fields it at the 13 the defense did a nice job of shutting down this offense the last time they had the ball the offense was not clicking at all let's see if they're back on the same page they'll go to work at the 34 yd the sellout crowd is really making a difference now as these guys can't even call the play wants to throw outside finds his receiver he's all the way down to the 39 yd line that was a big time play and a new set of down I think the defense might have been thinking run there coach well I don't blame him it's pretty common to a run on first and second down but this offense is keeping them guessing first and 10 ball on the 39 yd line Y single set back [Applause] field throws and it's caught and he's taken down about a 5yd pickup on the old playaction pass on the play second and five coming up here ball in the 34 rolling out to the left side and he's going to be sacked for a loss so one of the on this defense gets in there for the sack they've got to do a better job of protecting their quarterback yeah he can't afford to take too many more hits like that third and 11 ball on the 40 Jacksonville state lines up with three receivers throws this one out to the left and that one's fallen in complete he had his wide out but he couldn't hit him when he misses it's usually high and that's something he's been working very hard with his coach on 4 yd and the punt team will come out it's Fourth Down number 37 punt it and he didn't kick that ball well at all number five signals for a fair catch this is where I look for the defense to clamp down after some sloppy tackling the last time they let this offense run all over them all the way to the end zone and I don't see that happening again they'll start this drive at the 27 they come out with four wide out back to Pat with the throw finds the freshman and down he goes the quarterback just lasered that one down the field coach yeah the defender had no shot at breaking that pass [Applause] up second and two coming up here ball on their own 35 y the cards come out in the Ace formation steps up it's TI that ball should have been picked off this quarterback had too much faith in his arm that time well that confidence almost led to a change of possession his man wasn't even close to being open5 yd it's third down and two to go ball in the 35 Louisville lines up in a goal line set he's hit and got away and he's tackled how about that conversion on third down good push here by the guys up front and they are really starting to work hard in the trenches let me tell you something the biggest compliment you can give a coach is that his team is playing hard and you're right these guys are playing real hard right now first and 10 ball on their own 45 they'll bring in their dime package he passes it they'll bring him down so the defense kept everything in front of him on that play they didn't pick up much on that play but if they keep dumping it off like that the safies are going to have to creep up when you force the safies to play shallow it opens up a whole other passing game that's when you hit him with the home run from the gun gets the ball no they faked it he's looking Aaron and out long he got it and he's taken down move those sticks that's a first down and a great catch too did you see how he looked that one in oh there's no doubt about it he can catch the [Applause] football on the 12 and they can smell the goal line so their last Red Zone visit resulted in a touchdown let's see if the defense can hold him this time you know what the kid just broke a 100 yards for the day with that run guys [Applause] theard line up with two tight end he'll get it again touchdown Louisville and they just keep on scoring it's just ridiculous how this offense is making everything look so easy out there you know what's scary is we're not even at [Applause] halftime and he hits the P here's the Pontiac Drive summary Kirk that was a great job by that big offensive line yeah it really was Brad and also a nice read by the ball carrier to find that running Lane when you break one like that you got to give a lot of credit to the offensive line first and 10 ball right around Midfield y number 10 has four receivers lined up here and they'll run him again they'll bring him down the halfback picks up a yard one yd gain on the [Applause] play second and nine coming up here ball on the 47 yd line Y Jacksonville state lines up with a shotgun set play action throws it to the outside someone got a hand on it that's just good defense right there coach it was Kirk but you know what it's all reaction anytime you're out there on defense Def and the passes within arms length away you knock it down third and nine and this is the fifth play of the current Drive the Gamecocks line up with three receivers L throws incomplete and he overthrew his wide receiver I don't know too many seven foot guys playing football so State comes out with three receivers Bunch back to Pat across the middle oh he had a shot at the pick boy he's very lucky that wasn't a turnover maybe he'll think twice about trying to call the plays himself at the line of scrimmage these young guys need to leave the play calling up to the offensive coordinator there aren't too many college quarterbacks in the country who consistently change the touchdown Louisville that's what his ability can do but here you see a combination of things his athletic ability his ability to amplifies and his speed accelerating by the defense keep this in mind comes to the line with three wide he drops back no one opens so he's going to run there he goes and they make the stop he made a real nice play on that one I'll tell you what in today's game you have to have the ability to run the football give the quarterback a lot of credit he made a great great play and really gave his team a [Applause] boost it's first and 10 ball on the 47 yd they come out with three wide receivers setting up the play action across the middle in and out of his hands a bullet to the receiver but he couldn't hang on quarterback put that ball right where it needed to be tail back they'll bring him down he eclipses the 100 yd Mark with that carry this guy has had a solid game gaining 100 yards rushing against this defense is no small [Applause] task second down and five and this is the fifth play of the current drive from the gun he drops back he's looking steps up in the pocket throws incomplete pass the pressure may have forced the incompletion there that defense was about to plant him into the ground he's lucky he even got that ball off thir the defense will try to stop this third down as they were unsuccessful the first time on this drive they'll work from the shotgun hand off up the middle gets past to tackler and they make the stop and that'll give him another first down excellent job there Brad of running the football that was good execution by this offense it's first and 10 this is a seventh play of this drive high formation here they go with a pitch to the right he tosses it short and he drops well the players love to run these types of plays because it's out of the ordinary of what they usually do on offense so when they finally call the play you have to execute it because you don't get many chances to do it again and I think they have the wrong guy throwing the football but I guess that's why he's not the real quarterback they hand it off missed tackle brought down he's not your ordinary fullback this guy can move you bet he can I like this kid he's a heck of a football player they need to get him some more car first and 10 ball on the 21 the cards go with the eye formation they go with the option fakes it he laterals the ball and he's tackled in the open field they go with a run and that'll be a gain of nine yain on the on the 12 and they can smell the goal line and the impact linebacker has turned it up he's just running his offense I don't want to hear it he knows he could just run the football and get out of here with the win there is no reason in the world for him throwing touchdown passes at this and the snap goes to the back and down he goes and that one goes for a big big first down you know every time you run the ball successfully like that that defense starts to creep up a little bit
