Tonight. A new storm is wreaking havoc on Louisiana. Francine made landfall in the southern part of the state as a category two hurricane just hours ago. Within the last 15 minutes, it was downgraded to a tropical storm but right now, heavy storm surge and torrential rain are inundating neighborhoods in Mississippi. Tonight, people are bracing for a potential storm surge of 4 to 6 ft. This is a live look at New Orleans right now. You can see wet roads there. About half of the city is below sea level and some areas are bracing for flash flooding and storm surge as well. And 10 Tampa Bay meteorologist Colleen Campbell joins us right now. Colleen, we're keeping an eye on Francine and another potential storm. Yes. So the tropics are really starting to become busy here, thankfully, no threats to Florida at this time, but Francine did recently downgrade, still receiving a lot of rain, that threat of a life threatening storm surge. We know that these areas are prone to big flooding and storm surge risk because they are below sea level. So we're tracking Francine right now. We're going to talk about what else to keep an eye on in the next coming week. So here's the latest tropical storm Francine, as we mentioned, the winds are now at 70 MPH. The storm has been downgraded to a tropical storm but upon making landfall around six o'clock eastern time 5 p.m. central, it was a category two hurricane. So the outer rain bands are continuing to move through Louisiana. If we get the rest of the track here, you can see it's going to move through Mississippi, eventually through Arkansas and start moving towards Missouri as a remnant low. We're looking at that with the effects of rain all the way into Friday. So the end of this week as it continues to track northward as a remnant low, but also in the tropics, we have this system tropical depression seven. We are talking about the earlier, not quite yet a tropical storm but almost there. It has winds at 35 MPH right now. In order to be a tropical storm, it has to have winds at 39 MPH and this is going to be our next name system. Next name on the list will be Gordon and very quickly here. I'll show you what else is going on. The tropics. We have three other systems highlighted yellow, low potential for development, but we're keeping our eye on them.
