Aston Villa have just beaten Leicester 21 in the Premier League it wasn't the cleanest of Victories at all I watched bits of it legitimately on the internet and I also missed a little bit as well so I'm going to be doing the player ratings listen all those a little bit we're going to go through a couple of main things for this game and breaking it down just reaction to the win 2-1 away from home can see on the screen The Possession stats were not keen for us whatsoever 57% possession is what Leicester managed to get this game and I don't care if you're away from home we had 30 odd POS possession to Arsenal now 43 % away from home against a newly promoted team it is not good enough I don't like this new way that Aston Villa seems to be playing this season we kind of done it a little bit last season but we dominated games and we dominated possession last season this season we're just a counterattacking team all we do is sit back wait for a shot or wait for a break and or a good tackle and then just try and counter and our defense isn't good enough to absorb that pressure I genuinely can't remember the last time Villa kept a clean sheet in the league they had nine shots to our 10 they had had more shots on target um oh sorry they had nine shots five off three on we had five on three off so it was complete opposite but the shots were relatively even and they had a better passing accuracy than us I don't understand really what's happened to I mean Douglas Lise leaving can't be the reason that all of a sudden our pass accuracy is going down the drain and then we talk about the actual game itself we were like decentish in the first 20 minutes and then an absolutely fantastic set piece I mean Austin MC I mean everyone hated him when Gerard was there now all of a sudden he seems to be more important than some of the players that we have on the pitch it was a great set piece routine Jacob Ramsey crossing the ball in and his name again guys his name isn't Andre it's amadu and he got his second goal for Villa that we then move on not really much happening olle Watkins should have scored two goals in this game I really don't understand what's going on with him but I think he might need a spell away from the starting lineup just until he can get back up to full sharpness and we move on to the second half we were very poor yellow cards everywhere and Nana and tans both booked in the first half and then in the second half Bard picked up bookings mcin everyone getting booked left right and Center uh eventually a double sub was made olle Watkins made way for John Duran as part of that double substitution which also saw Anana come off injured which we'll get on to later uh for Ross Barkley and then John Duran scores two minutes after he comes on he should probably be getting the nod to start in our next game after the international break unless only Watkins manages to get 180 minutes or is it three games or two games I think it's two games so 180 minutes for England and comes back looking sharper than ever uh John Duran comes on it's an absolutely brilliant header I don't even know how he's managed to get that much power in that 20y old neck of his to swing that towards the goal but it was brilliant nonetheless and then M I don't know why we're starting Bard at right back instead of Coston ad delovic because he isn't a right back he's a 20-year-old defensive midfielder SL Center back by trade and then madidi literally turns him inside and out it was you got to feel bad for the lad getting twisted inside and out like that on TV live in front of like how many people fit into the King Power Stadium probably like seven uh CU it is Leicester uh and then again a good cross little bit of miscommunication in the Box around our defense and we still can't keep a clean sheet and then it was all leester they near got a penalty in the last minute but Jamie vardy was fractionally offside and they had the better of the chances and a disallowed goal as well for them and in the end of the day we scraped three points against a team who really probably favor us to go straight back down so in terms of player ratings Emmy Martinez I would give a six not really much to do in the game but again did not keep a clean sheet uh left back lucaa I think matson's time has to be coming sooner rather than later um he did get the assist for John Duran it was a decent cross but overall this game just not very impactive so a seven purely for the assist pal and coner seven didn't really do too much wrong not really at fault for the goal but again didn't set the world Al light and they really need to get a clean sheet under their belts soon Bard at right back I'd have to give a 42 again it's not his position he's 20 years old he's barely played any senior minutes for Aston Villa I think the last time he started was when Dean Smith started all of our youth players in the FA Cup against Liverpool um and he did just looked out of position and out of his depth at the moment moving on to the left hand side of Midfield John mcin six didn't really get involved Onana eight Tans nine I think Tans was easily our man of the match uh apart from you could argue for John Duran but for me it's tans this game he was brilliant throughout and been one of our best players this season um on the right hand side I'm going to go for Jacob Ramsey instead of Leon Bailey because obviously Leon baile did come off quite early in the game and he gets an eight Kon got the assist and looked like a bright spark Morgan Rogers seven again just doing what Morgan Rogers does and he was very very good and then olle Watkins three should have got two goals didn't he really needs to sort that out this season and then John Duran is the only sub that I'm going to mention here as well and he gets he I'll give him an 8.5 because I really think Tans deserves the man of the match what are the main takeaways from this game are we Aston Villa or are we injury FC in the matter of three days really we found out that cash is going to be out for a month Diego Carlos missed this game through injury jayen filene missed this game through injury Bailey came off with a hamstring issue barely 20 minutes into this game Onana limped off the pitch I'm probably missing more players there that are injured but we just have so many bnda not you know good enough to be getting minutes at the moment it seems Tyron Mings only just came back from injury we are literally a concer or a Tan's injury away from being in absolute catastrophe and again our hands were tied couldn't sign players because of PSR uh video out tomorrow on our transfer window and we're scraping a win against leester now look we had these awful performances last season when we come back and then we look amazing in the next game but I really do worry about that switch off and this happened a lot last season at half time we just seem to switch off in games and Lester were all over us in the second half it was a poor performance I don't think anyone out there will say it wasn't um yes we could have put the game to bed early but we didn't we're really struggling to take chances I don't know why this season oie Watkins may be the main contributor to that but we were poor we scraped three points and there's possibly an injury crisis going on at the moment ason Villa will see the prognosis for Onana and Bailey very soon I am sure as well as Carlos um and philene but we won we got three points sometimes you have to win these Scrappy games and as always it's always
