so almost ready to get underway today's starting pitcher Colin Ray what do you have on him well coming into this game hitters are batting under 250 against this starting pitcher so it just shows you how effective he's been he's been able to move his pitches around add and subtract change up the look so that hitters don't get too comfortable and start squaring up the baseball we'll see what he's hit solo Runner aboard to start the inning everything came together for him nice line drive to the pole side B it out front but just stayed through it nice enough off and ripped it into the Outfield and now a chance to maybe get creative on offense with good speed on first here's Muki [Applause] now hammer and this one could be extra bases Otani round second on his way to third headed for the plate he scores and they have the lead one nothing well done drives in the Run anytime you can drive ball into the Gap the other way feels so good and that's when you know you're right where you need to be at the plate it's even better when it gets you extra bases got to love looking in at your Dugout and seeing your teammates fired up here comes Freddy Freeman up to [Applause] hit line to left and it's stays Fair around third throws to second not in time he's safe as a run scores that's now three hits in a row for the offense that was a thing of beauty he may have been a little behind the pitch but by getting that Barrel Into The Hitting Zone early on in his swing he was able to meet it and still shoot a line drive down the line and left line drive and no one can get there around third he scores it's three zip throw is high and over his head tag got him aggressive base running there trying to take advantage of the defense but he's out of third absolutely perfect execution of the relay right there to cut him down at third and he probably should have shut it down at second base and been happy with the double but it took a great play to get him you just have to tip your cap and now it's Gavin Lux and first offer ring is fouled off and the rhander deals on the ground terang tosses to first two gone now take a look at the lineup this is one of the best teams in the league when it comes to drawing walks Chris so we'll probably see a very patient approach from them yeah Boogie and that's often uh what leads to a lot of runs scored you get Runners on base you work that pitch count up for the opposing pitchers and then you take advantage when they make mistakes you get into that bullpit you can tell everyone up and down this lineup just comes in with a great plan of well get to pause on that thought as that'll do it for the inning back here at American Family field Towing the slab in today's game Gavin Stone well he's been a very dependable starter for his club and what stands out for me is that left-handed hitters have really struggled batting below 200 against him and it just tells me they have a hard time tracking the baseball maybe it's the relas point maybe it's the motion but just some somehow they've got to figure out a way to pick it up and try to have some success from the left side Bryce terrain stands in here leaves that one off the inside well after scoring runs this is where you're looking for that shutdown inning get that hot team back in there to swing the bats in for a strike and the count one and [Applause] one and another ball two [Applause] one there's a swinging man he really sells the change up with that arm action swings throw it and that's a strike out well there's a small side of relief right there I mean just to keep that speed off the base pass it's not just the pitcher it's other guys that have to think about it your infielders have to think about that Runner potentially stealing but also be in position to make a play as an out you're thinking about a base hit to the Outfield I got to get to it quickly to try to keep this guy from taking an extra base so I think everyone just a little more relaxed that he didn't reach base two and0 to count here it comes just off the Inside Edge just a few pitches in but not very sharp on the mound in the home half of the first Bo when you can score some runs for your pitch in that first inning you really want him to come out and shut that other team down so you guys can get back in the Dugout and swing the bats you've obviously got some hot sticks in the early bottom of the six and there's a new pitcher on the M Brent Honeywell Jr he's certainly been one of their better relief pitchers this season the numbers are really solid so they feel great about handing the ball over to him in today's game you look at Exit velocity as a measure of process and if guys are hitting the ball hard eventually the results usually follow Gary Sanchez he is a guy that hits the ball hard one away bottom of the six ripped towards third slings to First and that quickly two away here's the center fielder s raen outside low and that is ball one all tied up here in the bottom of the six next offer in there for a strike and the count even at one that one the other way Fair ball around first and hustling for second he's there it's a two out double nice job of driving that pitch the other way on a line you know hitters they take so many reps in the cages working going to the opposite field and it doesn't always translate into the game but right there it did and he of the game they seem to be really locked in at the plate line and that's a base hit and that turns the lineup over pretty much a model swing on that one as he ripped it into the opposite field Gap and I'm sure he's going to be watching that one back on video because that's the kind of Swing you want to bottle so many positives that led to that knock and now let's see if they force some action high-scoring game purists might not love it but pretty impressive showing at the plate from both sides final score of 8-6 in this one for Chris Singleton and our entire outstanding crew here at MLB
