Billy Napier Replacements: 10 Candidates Florida Gators Can Hire IF Napier Gets Fired Ft. Jedd Fisch

[Music] welcome into college football now I am Tom Dy we're not even technically all the way through week one of college football and the writing is on the wall that Billy Napier is just not going to make it as the Florida Gator head coach his seat is very much on fire after what can only described as a disastrous 41- 17 season opening loss against the Miami Hurricanes he can still do some things why I think that the running game can still be good with what he designs up front and his coaching staff designs but this is bad and there is in a gauntlet of a schedule no signs of it getting any better he averaged 10 wins a year down at down at Louisiana he was successful but he won six games in 2022 five games last year and they're going to be favored in two or three maybe over the course of the Season he is is going to have a very tough time beating the cinjun Woodly tager allegations so should Florida fire Billy Napier why for yes and for no in the comment section assuming he goes 500 or worse he would be the first coach since like World War II to finish below 500 who wasn't an intrum for the Florida Gators vote y for yes n for no I think it's a matter of when not if he's gone so let's break down some potential Napier Replacements now again fire Hing him means Florida will have not catch kept a head coach for more than four years since they got rid of Urban Meyer that's a really bad track record now they have a chance to do something hilarious and bring back Urban Meyer and you know before he got canned after a disastrous stint in Jacksonville that lasted two wins for him it might have made sense I I I actually kind of wonder if the urban Meer disaster class in the NFL and just the way that it has gone for him and whe and valid questions about if he would fit in this new era of college football I question whether or not that would actually even be a good hire but it get the boosters back on board get the fans probably back on board he's won everywhere he's gone except for Jacksonville where he lost more games in one season than in all but his Florida stint combined with individually I should say in each season so that's kind of a huge red flag I don't know if you'll ever see Urban Meyer coach again uh there were there were a lot of things that that went wrong in Jacksonville get your votes in for me though whether it's Florida or somewhere else I'm talking actual coaching not like coaching your grandson's Peewee team or whatever one for yes zero for no in the comments section let's get into some more realistic names Lance Leo here at at Kansas I think is a damn good head coach he has won everywhere he has gone he has won at Wisconsin Whitewater he won at Buffalo one of the hardest mat programs to win at and is winning at the hardest power five program or I guess power four program to win at that's Kansas here's the thing fit matters I don't know if a guy that spent the majority of his time not in the south is a good head coach to come into Florida I I I have my doubts about that hypothetical fit other big 10 teams cool okay I I get that sec I don't know if if that's the match you're looking for that's I I don't think it'd be as bad as Brian har at Auburn but I get some similar concerns in that matchup number eight is Rett Lashley the SMU head coach who I think the Mustangs have a real chance to make some noise and maybe be your group of five representative in the college football playoff this season he has coached in Florida he was the Miami offensive coordinator for several years I will also say this if SMU does well I would not be surprised if fret Lashley was coaching in the SEC this time next year but it might be for isma moer Arkansas now if you are concerned about going back to the group of five head coaching well totally get it I do think Alex golish is a name to consider here a very different more aggressive entertaining sexy fun style of offense than what Napier running right now with the Gators he took a one in11 South Florida program and they won seven games last year Byron Brown is a very fun uh college football QB he was the Tennesse OC so he has some SEC experience oh of your group of five candidates this is probably one of the better ones to keep in mind I want you guys to rate the Florida head coaching job how good of a job do you think this is like is it an a tier job b c DF or something else all together let me know in the comments of today's video number six we don't have that many uh coordinators fact it's the only one on this list I should say that's Glenn Schuman the defensive coordinator over at Georgia you're hoping for Dan Landing 2.0 here is is what you're angling to get he has spent his entire coaching career in the SEC at only Alabama and Georgia this would be a very different style of coach than Billy Napier you see it more in the NFL but teams often go OC DC offensive mind defensive mind that'd be what you're doing here by hiring Glenn I do wonder if that's not a big enough hire though for what florids unless you're convinced he really truly is Dan Landing super by the way I I was scolling the message boards deeply you're not getting Dan Landing to Florida absolutely no chance that is going to happen so cross Dan Lanning he turned down Alabama he he is not coming to Florida instead now if you're trying to go to a college football game this Missouri look he's done a nice job of building up this Missouri program they were you know bowl game is team you know had a lot of success at App State out Missouri to 11 and two last year they could be a college football playoff team and they're going to lose a bunch of key pieces I think he'd have interest in jumping back to a different SEC program number four again these names are not the sexiest of names but that might be where Florida's at as a program right now Mark Stoops every year he gets linked to a different major college football head coaching job we're also probably like a year probably about time for James Franklin to get linked to a job but I that doesn't sound like a great idea for Florida probably due for another Brian Kelly NFL head coaching link probably not Florida there either Stoops just signed an extension but he's coached to both Florida State and Miami he's made the Wildcats a perennial seven- win program it's actually a lot to ask out of Kentucky now if you want more college football videos like these hot boards that we'll do for other coaches if when they get fired SLG go on the hot seat then subscribe got free college football videos all season long number three is Jamie Chadwell who I thought did a really nice job a Coastal Carolina has limited ties to the SEC he's he's from Tennessee uh you know which could make him a threat if Josh hyp lever leaves the the volunteers successful Coastal Carolina so far not necessarily with his players but 13- one last year the the lone loss coming in in the bowl game in in the Fiesta Bowl and then one and0 last season he wins I I I think with what he's done at Coastal Carolina even we go back to Charleston Southern um he's been a winner everywhere he's gone I I think that should not be overlooked as as a fall back option if you want to go back down the group of five route who should Florida hire as its next head coach I bet we'll see some Dion Sanders in the comments I don't think that's a fit uh I don't even know if Dion would take given his ties to Florida State and or Florida would want to given his ties to FSU pucha Florida hired its next head coach drop the coaching name for me in the comments of today's video Lane kein is number two on this list and I think you can argue he's the best realistic git on this list now his career path has been hilarious from Las Vegas to Tennessee to USC to FAU now back at Old Miss linked to all the different big jobs that come available was linked to Bam although bam I don't think had that much interest there one big problem you have to figure out here and this is not necessarily fair but this is how it works in the college football Landscapes Lane kein is divorc from the daughter of John Reeves a gator great I don't know if the Florida Gator boosters are going to sign off on that one and given the fact that you need the booster money to buy out Billy Napier's $26 million contract that's what he's owed and then pay a new coach big time money the boosters get to have control and I would be willing to wager that there will probably be some who just don't want Lane kein at all but they he went all in on this year at Old Miss so I think if he's going to leave this upcoming year could be a pretty decent time to do so at number one though is jedf fish and I think this makes a lot of sense even though he is not by any stretch of the imagination a proven coach right he was the inum for UCLA went one in one uh was the Arizona head coach and got them to being a pretty good team the first year was roughy built that program up had off to a fine start for Washington issue you run into here the lack of experience but he's a Florida Gator Alum he went to Florida he was a ga under some great uh Steve sper that's going to make him a prime candidate for Florida he'd probably have interest in the job is it a big enough name for the Gators probably better higher than Billy Napier was coming from the G5 I I would I would feel bad for Washington because that would kind of suck to lose another really good head coach back toback years if he's worthy of getting hired to the SEC but that's certainly I think a name to monitor [Music]
