daica Hami has sued the WNBA and Las Vegas Aces uh claiming discrimination and retaliation due to pregnancy what is you got again the rules I wanted to stay on the topic of the rules changing uh for different individuals what are your thoughts on on that in terms of uh pregnancy while being in the WNBA it's unfortunately it's our womanly call like it's not unfortunate let me not say that like in the world of being a female a female athlete it's it's tough to juggle like ultimately being a female and separating the two because it's such a like masculine thing we take on and um but when we do have to turn on that switch and be a woman it's it's sad that it's really kind of discriminated against depending on Oran um ity but it's not the first time it's been done like that's the thing like um it happened to SC um I feel like if she didn't have the branding and her being Skyler Diggins you know um she would be in the same boat unfortunately but because she does have uh a solid team back in her and like you know she got a few more you know you know Scott would be working hard I'm I'mma say that I ain't GNA say her time is out but she she still she gonna still go out there and give you some buckets but I just think uh in Shorty's regard I I don't know too much about her in the sense of like like she got game like she definitely got game um I just I'm like are you light like um like what are you like as a teammate and things like that cuz I'm like the way they did her I'm like it sound like to me people don't like you or something cuz it's just like they literally broke the rules and it's like about to get away with it right and it's like those these rules is be just be changing so what what what could have what could have warranted this this this type of of change here and and are they trying to push you out yeah I think what they trying to do is basically say like it's like some in there where it's like around a certain time like it's not like and I'm just like but you can't tell people when they have a baby like it's like it's really crazy but um I think that's what they're pushing for but you can't like the whole um the team like backing like it's like okay she she's gonna have a baby she can't play all this stuff it's the not like the not backing like I I believe she said that she didn't even have insurance strength this is where she needs it the most she don't even need it as much like when she's playing like you know what I'm saying but it's just like this is where she needs it the most if we're gonna go out here and give you everything we got and you can't back us when we we giv life that's wild like you know what I mean that's like I'm just saying we G to use Insurance baby that's when it's the time to use it absolutely absolutely that's when you use it cost a million bucks to have a baby man yeah that's what I'm saying so it's pretty sad and I'm like yeah I support you suing them because listen no matter what she she when when she's called to do the job she does the job one week after All-Star player de Erica Hami filed a yeah can he lose sound he was mistreated I've been in either the WNBA or the NBA for now 25 years I've never had an HR complete never not once it just didn't happen I'm sorry The Bullying I spoke with her every day she wanted to practice she practiced if she didn't she didn't Over the Top Care actually over the top care that's one version of events leading up to this recent complaint the latest lawsuit paints a very different picture and at Ham's lawyer's alleged quote there were notable changes in the way their client was treated after finding out Hami had another child on the way that included withholding private school to I for her daughter and forced removal from team provided housing the two-time WNBA sixth woman of the year was later traded to the LA Sparks a decision Hami says was made because of her pregnancy status the lawsuit also alleges that Hammond questioned Ham's dedication and commitment to the team in a January 2023 phone call Hami asked coach Hammond you're trading me because I'm pregnant Hammond responds what do you want me to do the Team USA three on three St Stand Out aired her grievances over social media last year prompting the WNBA to conduct an investigation of its own into these claims as a result Hammond was suspended for two games for violating respect in the workplace policies and the team lost a first round draft pick but Hami not satisfied by the franchise's findings and the resulting disciplinary action ultimately sued seeking damages by a jury and we reached out to the Las Vegas Aces a spokes person for the team telling news Nation The ases Stand by their May 2023 statement in which they defended coach Hami calling her a caring human being they offered no further comment as litigation continues thank you call it coach hamy but um anyway anyway yeah BR that it's tough because businesses would do that you know what I'm saying it's a business it's a business at the end of the day and like there are times when you're in the business even uh for college football players if they get injured and they not coming back you over with your scholarship over with no matter how great you were or are as an individual you're no asset to me no more so therefore I'm wiping you off of the Slate which it's it just goes to show you you know you could be this great person but something happened in the flash they not really for you they really for what you have to offer and once you offer nothing or it takes a while for you to offer something up again they'll let your behind go and that's business and I don't know the rules that's the champion team and that and that and that's tough I don't know the rules for pregnancies because do you do maternity leave when you're in a WNBA I mean you have no choice you can't perform like what you going to do you don't really have a choice like it's not even safe so um like at the same time it's a business yes we know um but I don't know because it's different for men men can have as much kids as they like and still go out there and do what they got to do while a female like her whole everything is it's a rap it's a rap it's a dub so yeah one of those things like like I said I wish her well um I mean but you got to understand sweetheart that's the best team in the WNBA they I'm I'm I hate to say it they they ain't got time for a pregnancy and I'm not but I'm just saying like I feel so conflicted saying this but it's the truth like when you on a winning Squad like that it's about productivity who's who's going to keep this going right so it's like a catch 22 like it's it's like yo you do you care about the Legacy like but who's to tell you when it's time for you to have your true to create your generation as well it's like a it's really a catch 22 like are you going are you creating a generation or are you creating a legacy what are you trying to do you feel me to a degree too because this is like I like I'm seeing like how this can be like as an organization it's like okay you just had one and we you know we rolled it out like you just had one now you're having another which I like again I I I don't know how that feels because you know I didn't go to that level but I can understand how you could be like bro like listen I'm still a female I still this is my prime years I'm I'm gonna get I'm I have my kids like you know what I mean I could get that but at the same time it's like this is the acist we're talking about like no offense like yeah I mean you're and I hate to say you're not you're not AJ like you know what I'm saying someone like her H they probably gonna throw her baby shower they said she was six woman of the year what they say she was sixth woman in the year two two years running right right on a team like that like on a team like that yeah I'm six more I'm nice still no one's Asia Wilson no one's Asia Wilson but I'm still a valuable but also Asia Wilson needs a rest I'm still a valuable component or part of this team still absolutely and you cutting me because I'm pregnant allegedly it's not no it is AED no because it's a lawsuit it's a leged yeah cause yeah she said she said Over the Top Care over the top care what is that even me all because she got to choose what she wanted to practice and what she didn't that's over the top care that's I'm just saying a legend over the top car what does that even mean when somebody is pregnant or what does that even mean anyway hey you should be at practice at 6:30 we let her show up at 7 no she said said she they said over the top care she was late by an hour and a half over the top care would be letting that woman have her insurance while she pregnant yet and not cutting Over the Top Care would let her pay for her insurance and letting her make sure that the kid is good all during her trimesters the top care to me like keeping her on the team letting her know she's values and um you know everything so attack playing yeah but I understand like I don't know I organization don't want to pay pay for no workers comp you just messing around still had to really honor her salary then if you was to do all that and it's just like I can understand from a business standpoint like you're like nah let her go and we're right out with what we got and if someone else
