Phoenix and the Duke Blue Devils we hope you're ready for an action-packed game of NCAA football and here come the Blue Devils the Blue Devil come out like they're just going to roll over this team what do you think about that Herby D has one of the best all-around Corners in all of college football his ability to shut down opponent's best receivers is a huge asset and they will dominate on defense this one coach you're absolutely right Duke is going to out him today Elon be kicking off and you can just feel the energy in the here for this opening kickoff here's the kick number 39 field it at the 18 He Jes it kick off return 17 y number 39 on the return for those of you tuning in you get to see a great example of how the quarterback position is played this guy is a very special player and that's definitely the right term for Him special player he is all the intangible I'm excited I really been looking forward to seeing him play not many quarterbacks mean as much to the team takes it the 15 and now we'll see the offense come out on of the field for their next [Applause] possession they'll get the ball here at the 28 four wide nice play fake rolls right throws it to the outside he has him up the fly he goes down wow nice catch way to look it in heck of a job by the wide receiver these guys are moving the ball down the field it's first and 10 ball in the 37 y they come out in a nickel they'll throw on first down with he's on the Run get a good seven yards on that one yd gain on the [Applause] play second and three coming up ball in the 30 on the 30 yd line Bunch formation the counter and he's going to lose yards on this one oh man he'll feel that one in the morning that's called making a statement when you get into the back field like that and put somebody on their back it really sends it's third down and five to go ball on the 32 yd line and they have three bun drops back pass throws it to the outside almost picked off they're really fortunate that wasn't intercepted not a very smart decision by the quarterback he had no shot comp yeah but that Defender had a he just didn't catch it four wide go to the back and they don't get the first and the D answered the call there and this is huge for them it's setting up the stage for their offense to take the field and make some big time plays they'll start this drive at the 35 yd line the Blue called they just didn't make the play on the ball you're right it wasn't necessarily a bad defense the offense just executed and the result is a first step it's first and 10 ball on the 39 he comes to shotgun back to pass he steps up he's looking he gets rid of it and it's caught and he's tackled they picked up some yards but it won't be enough to keep those chains moving they went to the right guy he just couldn't get away 46 ball on the 43 yd line they line up to put this one away didn't get all of that one return number 39 Fields it at the 40 great passing was the key for the offense the last time they had the ball they were able to pick apart the defense and get down the field for a touchdown so if I'm the coach I'm telling my defensive lineman to get more pressure on that quarterback please they'll look from the shotgun step up looks throws it to the outside his receiver has it way to look it in nice catch sure was he displayed some great hand there now we're looking at a first [Applause] down it's first and 10 ball in the 48 Duke goes with the a set here he drops back down the middle with the spin brought down nice decision by the quarterback Not only was it good decisionmaking but the offensive line protected just long enough for him to find his Target and when you combine the two it'll be a first down nine out of 10 times the devil come out in a two- tight end set toss and they got him for loss and that was a good step by the defense they got him in the back field that's a great example of quickness by the defensive line it allows you to break away from those blockers before they have a chance of moving you away from the play Duke comes out with an eye formation drops back to pass wants to throw outside complete What A Catch I like the defense that was called they just didn't make the play on the ball you're right wasn't necessarily bad defense the offense just executed and the result is a first [Applause] down first and 10 they're inside the 20 the devil come out in the Ace formation nice play fake he's going left finds a man way to look it in nice catch sure was he displayed some great hands there now we're looking at a first down Duke up coming in at him and it was all he could do to avoid the sack Duke comes out with an eye formation touchdown Duke all right your team is down by three touchdowns in the first quarter what you telling those kids on the sideline the ey and say hey there's more than 34 at0 it's your choice either lie down and lose by 50 or man up dig yourself out of this hole so you can head into halftime with amazing comebacks in my day but I'm not too confident that I'm going to see one today today I could be wrong you guys but I just don't see it happen I mean these guys aren't just scoring they're down throws this one out to the left incomplete pass number 11 the intended receiver on the play it's second down and 10 to go ball on their own 26 the Phoenix come out the shotgun drops back to pass across the middle got him on the run the 50 and he's all the way down to the 45 yd line wow nice catch way to look at in job by the wide receiver these guys are moving the ball down the [Applause] field first ball on the 45 yd line Y Elon and a four wide set they'll throw on first down look throws it to the outside got it and he's brought down that was a big time a new set of down I think the defense might have been thinking run there coach well I don't blame him it's pretty common to see a run on first and second down but this offense is and them guessing it's first and 10 ball in the 14 Elon goes with the a set here here's a little draw play they'll bring it down three yards there on the play three yd gain on the play [Applause] 11 yds out the 11 y six DBS in the lineup nice play fake Ball's loose and he's going to lose yards on this one are they lucky or what the quarterback very fortunate that one of his guys recovered the football yeah he's got to be more careful out there either tuck that thing away or just get down before contact I don't care what he does just don't fumble that's all do whatever you have to do to protect that football steps up across the middle got it to his receiver tackle that's how you convert third down sweetheart that was a good looking play wasn't it coach oh yeah this offensive coordinator must have seen something in the defense he really likeed let's see if they can take this one in for six you got to be careful throwing in the coverage like that well coach I don't think it was a poor decision it was just a great reaction by the man in coverage theix line up to the goal line formation they'll reverse it touchdown they catch the defense off with a reverse and get the score oh man what a play call you set up defense by running to one side and just when they think you're going one way you reverse and you go the other way [Applause] six and he hits the pat so with over seven minutes left here in the first quarter score Duke 28 Elon [Music] seven and it looks like they're ready for the kickoff he kicks it number 39 Fields it to the [Applause] 19 they move the ball very effectively on their last Drive which ended with a touchdown the defense has been talking it over on the sideline trying to make some corrections let's see if they can stop him this time they'll go to work at the 33 yd line the devil come out in the a formation he tosses it short he has some room he's taken down and a nice pass to the ti end yeah this is what I like move the ball down the field use that nice and steady intermediate passing game it's second down and one to go ball on the 42 yd High formation here there's a play fake he might not be able to get the pass off and we got an injured player on the field third and five coming up ball on their own 38 3 [Applause] yd number 12 lines up in the shotgun steps up in the pocket throw he's right there for the interception brought down that int puts him in a position to make this game yeah they really needed that that's a huge boost to morale you're right KT now they got the big amm mo mo on their side they'll start this drive at the 36 yd line yine the Phoenix line up with three receivers bunched drops back to pass he steps up to throw outside incomplete the blitz was very effective that time yeah they brought the house and it was all they could do to get the ball out of there second and 10 ball in the 36 3 yd they'll bring in their dive package give it off here sheds that one and down he go the running back gives them six yards on the ground gain of on the play third down and four coming up on this one ball in the [Music] 30 Elon lines up in a bun formation he's into the open field and he's tackled and one goes for a big big first down you know every time you run the ball successfully like that that defense starts to creep up a little bit that's when you go to the air my friend over the top first and 10 they're threatening inside the 20 their last Red Zone trip resulted in a touchdown I don't expect this one to be any different touchdown that was a nice pass play and it gets the defense had a let down on that play [Applause] and he TS on the extra point time to take a look at the Pontiac Drive summary and remember the good Folks at Pontiac have been bringing you fuel for the soul since 1926 [Music] everyone's all lined up and ready for the kickoff Elon is lined up for the kickoff here's the kick return number four takes it the 15 defense won the last battle as they were able to pick the ball off who's going to win this time they'll set up shot at the 35 35 yd the Blue Devil line up with three [Applause] wide nice play fake wants to throw outside there he goes and he's taken down way to look it in nice catch sure was he displayed some great hands there now we're looking at a first down [Applause] it's first and 10 ball right around Midfield dke sets up in the eye they'll try to power it for the fullback tackle he's extraordinary fullback this guy can move you bet he can I like this kid he's a heck of a football player they need to get him some more carries [Applause] first and 10 ball on the 36 yd [Applause] line and they make the stop nice gain for the halfback that time they kept it on the ground with the counter play The Blocking was great up front and the tail back was able to get into the open field and do some special things it's first and 10 ball in the [Applause] 25 there's a play fake down the middle got him and he's tackled nice decision by the quarterback Not only was it good decisionmaking but the offensive line protected just long enough for him to find his Target and when you combine the two it'll be a first down nine out of 10 times single set back field setting up the play action pulling out to the right side he's going left and he just called in his second touchdown Catch of the Day the defense put somebody on this guy before he does serious damage getting pressure on the quarterback is also key you can't let this guy play pitch and catch with his receivers all day and he missed it he missed the extra point let's take a glance now at the Pontiac Drive summary looks like they're ready for the kick number five back to return short kick didn't get a hold of that one number 27 takes it at the 12 the offense comes out on the field once again it'll be interesting to see if this defense has made any adjustments to stop this running game because they sure couldn't stopped them from going down the field and scoring on that last Drive they'll take over at the 23 the Phoenix come out the shotgun steps up he's looking comes across the brought down I like the defense that was called they just didn't make the play on the ball you're right it wasn't necessarily bad defense the offense just executed and the result is a first down first and 10 ball on their own 422 y High formation here here they come and they bring him down for a sack on the play I think the offensive line missed a block there somebody did it was like a jailbreak up front and the linebacker will get the credit for the sack [Applause] it's second down and a long ways to go ball on the 36 yd line Elon goes with the ace set here he drops back steps up in the pocket under and they got him under Relentless pressure the quarterback goes down for the sack those guys on defense are just pinning their ears back right now coming in as fast as they can well in that case the offense need sneaking a screen pass it AE let get behind res pick off behind lers for [Applause] six third down and a couple miles here ball in the 32 and they have three Bunch back to pass look loses the football looks like a defensive lineman might have it and he does and it looks like there's an injury down there on the [Music] field and they'll look to capitalize on the good field position here they'll work from the shotgun they'll throw on first down looking throws it to the outside finds his receiver way to look at in nice kick sure was he displayed some great hands there now we're looking at first down Duke the line up in a jumbo here gets it ball no they faked it throws it to the outside and they couldn't hook up and number 27 back ready to return kicks it off number 27 takes it the 15 the last time they had the ball they gave it away the fumble the old ball coach was not too happy about that either I'd hate to see that if it happens again the ball here at the [Applause] 31 the Phoenix line up in an eye formation they'll throw on first down he's under some heat they'll drop him Frost down goes the quarterback now they got seven sacks man are they feted once the quarterback hikes the ball they're already in [Applause] one second and long coming up here ball the 22 and long 22 y they line up with trips to the left back to pass looking with the throw fall complete with that pressure he just couldn't do much with it his chance of accuracy on that throw was practically zero good job by the defense third and long ball on their own 22 they line up in the shotgun stepped up and he's going to be sacked for a loss now that's some heavy pressure it all starts with a battle up front I don't care how good your receivers are or how explosive your running backs are if you can't control the line of scrimmage then it's tough to move the football I agree coach and the thing is this quarterback can make some plays for you if you give him enough time back there to throw well it looks like he's going to have to figure out how to make plays without time yd they line up to putt this one away number 97 punt it and he didn't kick that ball well at all number 39 FS it at the 39 and now we'll see the offense come out on of the field for their next possession it's first and 10 ball on the 38 yd line Ace backfield there's a play fake throws this one out to the right poor pass and his tight end couldn't reach it 89 the intended receiver on the play [Applause] so it's second and 10 ball on the 38 y Nel [Applause] defense setting up the play action throws it to the outside got it and he's tackled great pass play this is the result they expect when they run this play it wouldn't surprise me if they run it again again and again right [Applause] [Music] here another trip to the Red Zone last time it resulted in a touchdown he's going right it's tip head up play at it down yeah and if you can't get to the quarterback or intercept the pass the next best thing is to get a hand up single set back field back he's looking go into the end zone and it's incomplete 2 the intended receiver on the the devil come out in the Ace formation steps up in the pocket throws to the middle touchdown Duke and he makes his second visit to the end zone with that catch well that was a great catch by the receiver he ran a perfect route to get open for his second score of the game [Music] [Applause] and he TS on the extra point and now we'll take a look at the Pontiac Drive summary [Music] and it looks like they're ready for the kickoff number five back deep to return kicks it off number 27 takes it at the 16 the defense did a nice job of shutting down this offense the last time they had the ball the offense was not clicking at all let's see if they're back on the same page they'll start this drive at the 28 yd line Y Elon comes to the line on the one man in the back field he steps up he's going left Echo now that was a good looking play the quarterback put it where the receiver could get it and now they have a first down what I like is the faith that this quarterback has in his receiver he he's not afraid to throw it downfield first and 10 ball in the 47 4 y number 15 back in the gut nice play fake row this one out to the left the ball is tipped fantastic play by the quarterback all you young defensive backs at home that is how you play defense so it's second and 10 ball on the 47 yd line and they have three bunes with the throw complete and he's taken down nice decision by the quarterback Not only was it good decisionmaking but the offensive line protected just long enough for him to find his Target and when you combine the two it'll be a first down nine out of 10 times first and 10 ball on the 34 yd line he Back Field setting up the play action wants to throw outside it's deflected good defense there guys I wonder if the quarterback was expecting to see man coverage there because he threw it right to the defense and that's what's so tough about playing against a Zone you think a guy's open and out of nowhere a Defender shows up just like that so it's second and 10 ball in 34 four wide he dropped it back and now he's going to improvise and he's tackled quarterback scramble gains three yards gain on the [Applause] play it's third down and seven to go this is the sixth play of this drive they'll work from the shotgun steps up looks he rolls out to the right the ball came free and I think one of the big guys fell on it for the defense not much hope now that fumble was not what they needed they're already losing big let's just hope they don't throw the towel in all together a long ways yet to go but at the end of one our score Duke 55 Elon 14 they'll go to work at the 35 the 35 yd line the dev line up to tight end play action throws this one out to the left incomplete over threw his man but boy did he have some heat on too much heat completing the pass is more important than throwing the ball 100 miles hour that's true he just needs to put a little bit more touch on that pass the Blue Devil come out in the Ace formation setting up the play action going deep got it he goes down I thought I was paying attention here but I looked up and pow the guy's got 100 yds receiving already when did that happen coach I'm wondering the way down to the four and that had big play written all over did it ever great looking run by the big guy you're right KK that was a huge play they're crowding the line they'll work the right side brought down a couple maybe three yds on that run three yd gain on the play the Blue Devil come to the line with their jumbo packing touchdown dke another touchdown why not this just goes to show you that there is more to playing defense and emotion you can't continuously play out of position like this you're going to find yourself in a lot of mismatches and today those mismatches have turned into 27 Fields it at the 11 I'm sure the defense will be trying to St the ball once again if these kids start hanging out to the football they won't see another offensive series they might start putting in their own 44 number 15 comes to the line with three wide back to Pat steps up in Pocket it's tipped and one of the biggest guys on the field is all alone the 10 touchdown how did he catch that ball he just stuck his big claw up there and caught it some of these linemen will surprise you with how athletic they are yep you got that right I've seen guys his size that run four 540s now granted they were from the speed state but I've seen it you and the speed State you just love those kids that played high school ball in Florida don't you come on Kirk it's a different breed of athlete down there you know that great and he t on the extra point [Music] looks like they're ready for the kick number 27 back deep to return he kicks it number five field it the [Applause] 13 let's watch the defense on how aggressive they are they were able to get a pick the last time and they're like a wild animal when they smell blood they go in for the kill take it easy coach you're getting excited hey that's right sweetheart I'm always excited the Phoenix line up in an eye formation nice play fake throws has his pullback and they make the stop so they get about four yards from play action four on the [Applause] play second and six ball on the 36 yd line the Phoenix come out in the a formation he steps up looking throws to the middle the pass was right there just couldn't be controlled just tied in some more passes in practice he needs all the help he can get it's third down and six to go ball on the 36 yd line six DBS in the lineup he drops back he's looking down the middle and now he's got rid to run and he's tackled fell as he's really out to an outstanding start in this football game hey if he continues at this pace he may throw for 500 yd I'll tell you what this guy is so much fun to watch when he gets into a rhythm like this first and 10 ball on the 45 high formation here they'll throw on first down look he unloads it and it's caught they'll wrestle him down in Back Field they get a one yd loss on that one one yard loss on the play it's second down and 11 to go and this is the fifth play of the current Drive the Phoenix with four receivers back to pass throw complete and down he goes madebe three yards that time on the pass yain the [Applause] so another third down upcoming for the offense number 14 four wide receivers drops back to pass and he's going to be sacked they get to the quarterback and end that play before even got started this young man didn't even have a chance to make something happen it's tough to find your receivers when the defense is in your face like that [Applause] four and N ball 44 yd they line up to putt this one away he punts this one high in the air number five signals forough catch and they make the fair catch at the 24 this is where I look for the defense to clamp down after some sloppy tackles in the last time they let this offense run all over them all the way to the end zone and I don't see that happening again they'll set up shot at the 24 line first and 10 the devil come out in the Ace formation pitches right he's on the Run little shake and bake move brought down that was a pretty good run incredible effort there running the football by this guy [Applause] first and 10 ball on the 40 yd [Applause] line number 12 with three wide receivers they go with a toss and now he's going to throw it comes up with a jump ball what a call by the head coach and it pays off big time with a huge pickup on the play [Music] it's first and 10 ball on the 31 yd line they come out in a Nick get the ball no they faked it throws he might have been looking to run and didn't secure the ball well sometimes you see young players do this this is something they have to work very hard to be able to overcome [Applause] it's second total mismatch out these guys have scored about as many points as possible so far Hey listen up you guys somebody needs to throw a white got there because this one is getting [Applause] nasty and he nice job there this guy does a good job in reading his blocks and accelerating through the holes it's first and 10 ball on the 45 yd line the Phoenix go with the eye formation setting up the play action he lobs it out to the left side and they hit him in the back field back to the line of scrimmage that's it no game on the Play It's second down and 10 to go ball on the 45 Elon sets up with four receivers he drops back short to off his hands and incomplete oh he could have had a big reception that time guys just let that one get away from his vision just for a llit second third and 10 this is the fifth play of this drive Elon comes to the line with three wide back to pass steps up on the pocket looking and it's knocked down the pass was knocked down this defense is very aggressive
