[Music] Jake it's been a long off season you had to sit on some real frustration to your credit you fought through it you earn the starting spot you come out and you're in a decisive victory tonight how would you sum up the emotions after everything you've been through in the offseason and getting win number one football is fun it's it's good to be back I'm so happy to just answer the questions you know just go out here and play football that's what that's what I love to do and I love to do with these guys out here so I give credit to all these guys around me uh for playing their tail off tonight and having a lot of fun how would you rate the overall offensive performance of your team tonight it's hard to tell cuz we got to go back and watch the film but um we're going to be happy with over 500 yards and 40 something points so I think that's Baseline a a minus and I hope the film says a plus from a scheme perspective and success what are you most encouraged by I'm just most encouraged about the guys hitting somebody else I mean we talked about it all week we're just so happy to go hit somebody else play against somebody else uh because we're hitting our defense every day and banging ourselves up and so just the going out there and playing man we've been waiting so long for this like you said off season's been so long so I'm just happy to be out there and playing again explosive plays were a clear emphasis for this offense because it was lacking last year there were numerous explosive plays tonight what allowed for that to happen just I mean JoJo Phillips screaming down the field ke La Maran screaming down the field the old line protecting up front it was awesome I could sit back there and Pat the ball I wanted to and and throw a bomb and and those guys made plays downfield for me so it was incredible the guys around me played their tail off today and I'm just so proud of him yeah you lead me into my next question which is the offensive line what are the differences behind the line through one game this year compared to some of the struggles that were prominent last year man it's a different unit Al together same guys but I I'm telling you it's a different unit those guys playing their tail off today those guys are getting after it in different ways coach Woods is coaching them up so well and so I'm so excited for the rest of the season for these guys and they're just they're coming together and this team is so close together it's something that colani says to us like this is the closest team he's probably ever had is what he told us and so uh we're just so happy to play together and go win games together how are your nerves and excitement all together all like just from a an overall standpoint tonight how how are you feeling emotionally I mean really good you know the whole day six o'cl game you kind of got to sit around for a little bit um but you know once we got on the bus over here I was just ready to go I mean I was ready to go all day uh just sitting on there feel like I've waited so long 200 something days since I played a football game and so to be able to do it again today I was super antsy of course but once I got out here with the guys it was just so much fun I'm so happy that we're back out here from our last conversation after a game in Stillwater Oklahoma last year to where you stand now how have you grown the most as a player uh just trusting the guys around me making plays for those guys you know what I mean I'm not I'm not out there playing playing for me I'm playing for the guys around me and those guys are great players and so as long as I trust those guys and play my ball play my game within them we're going to be good Jay congratulations good luck against SMU next Friday night appreciate it thank you so much
