Thursday Night Football Review: Colorado vs North Dakota State and The FCS Rising

okay I am live this Thursday night this is the upwatch Haw podcast I'm your host ski Mas Murphy there's currently 13 minutes left on the clock in the fourth quarter between the University of North Carolina Tar Hills and the Minnesota golfers I have that plan in the background while I'm speaking on Fox it's a close game 14- 13 the golfers are up but I'm here to talk I try to watch the last game playing which technically there's a moood of games playing right now I guess the game I really should be watching but I don't have True TV would be the San Jose State uh Trojans I believe is what they are and the Sacramento State Hornets which I will comment on what's going on over there because they're at halftime and it is 1714 Sacramento state is up but I would say hey the game I watched tonight which I had the chance to you know I watched the whole fourth quarter of you guess it the University of Colorado Bluffs versus the North Dakota State Bison oh I almost call them jack rabbits if if you're a North Dakota State fan I know you would have hated me if I would have said the jack rabbits for those who don't know that is South Dakota state they're one of their Rivals one of I feel like everybody in that area Rivals because those guys run FCS football I'm going to get to that that's well I'm getting to it now that is the main theme of tonight I watch the game I'm I couldn't watch it all Youth Soccer I I'm a coach you know you got to get back to the community and it was also my sister's birthday so hey a lot of things taking up my evening but got enough to get into college football that I wanted to see and let me tell you being able to watch that fourth quarter I can tell you North Dakota State Colorado too very good programs well oh my God I will tell you this punt team for University of North Carolina they just down a punt inside the two yard line I the Gunner made a an amazing play Hey I was a kicker convert a convert from soccer so I appreciation some good special teams but speaking of amazing plays if you did not get a chance to watch Colorado versus North Dakota North Dakota State man oh man you missed an all time catch by trais Hunter I'm talking about if people didn't see the Odell beckon catch which still to me is not one of the overall greatest catch if you saw this live you would say good grief Chavis Hunter is GNA play on Sundays for a very long time whether he's a wide receiv receiver of DB but with that said hey the theme which seems like is probably going to play out this week which is definitely playing out this Thursday night and it played out the week zero games last Saturday is you do not want to play ranked teams rank ranked teams are a whole bunch of trouble and when I say ranked teams I'm not talking about the AP poll I'm talking about the FCS coaches poll because God Almighty these ranked teams have been causing nothing but Mayhem let's talk about one of the games that also played this Thursday night NC State versus the West Carolina versus Western Carolina thenc State wolf pack West Carolina cadam mou guess what West Carolina's number 19 and they had a choke hold in the wolf pack in the start of the fourth quarter cuz they was up 24 to 21 and good grief North Carolina state was able to pull away and then and went by two scores but the Carol catam Mouse West Carolina they had them in a choke cold North Dakota State we everybody if you don't know college football well this is this game was a litness test is if you think Colorado not being P from North Dakota State it means they're a weak team then you don't know college football North Dakota State South Dakota State Montana Montana State South Dakota North Dakota all of those teams are ranked they are all Big Sky and that is the conference that has been putting in the FCS national championships for a very long time I mean I can look it up right now I'm I would say maybe maybe the last team not to win the FCS National Championship was probably o h maybe Appalachian State maybe I got a feeling Apple State might have been the last one to win it who's not from that area well no 2020 Sam Houston State during covid year they beat South Dakota state in an national championship game but Sam Houston State and James Madison the last two teams to move up so 2020 2016 and then yeah going you got to go all the way back to 2009 outside of that the only things we have wanted outside of outside of North Dakota State and South Dakota State Sam Houston State and James Madison and those two programs have moved up so it's getting even Tighter and when you look at the opponents that they've had over this run who've made the title game good grief it is not too many teams that aren't in the Big Sky country so you you know we great well-run programs that have been going for a long time and have a tradition and somehow find these great players because let's talk about it you may say okay they're not the best in the NFL but to say guys who could backup quarterbacks in the NFL or guys who are sometimes starters I'm talking about Trey Lance Jimmy Garoppolo hard guys to find well not hard hard guys to know that you can find as a FCS program who are NFL level players so it's it's a nice spread even Christian Watson was the wide receiver at North Dakota State and man oh man he was tearing up so you can see these programs are great and if you don't know college football and you think Colorado barely being able barely being able to pull out a win lets me know you're not really a college football fan cuz also Colorado was five yards away from losing this game start the last play Travis Hunter the amazing two-way player that he is he told the rest on defense hey do not go for an interception B this ball down and what did his teammates do they tried to go for interception and North Dakota State their wide receiver he caught it reeled it in and he did what you're taught to do which some people may say stupid from where he was on the field you're taught hey on a hell marry that ball goes up grab it and try to fall down where you are which is what he did because hey you're watching the ball just St in there you don't really know where you ad on the field you just look back and you just see ball in air catch it try to fall down because you're in a cluster just try to pull it away which is what he did unfortunately don't work out five yards short Colorado gets to go home with the win which a good for Coach Prime and also probably good for you and good for good for a lot of people social media ratings because they're going to get a lot of answ interactions going to make the money off of the clicks and hits and all the comments but we can talk about some other things going around with some other ranked teams who have been putting in work from the SCS because Sacramento state is currently up 1714 of San Jose State San Jose State they just scored what seems like to be on their last job of the first half to get it 214 so hey Sacramento State where are they currently ranked they're the number 10 team in the FTS so they're out there causing a whole lot of trouble same way that uh oh why am I that Western Carolina cause trouble for North Carolina State and it's just gonna that's how it is these FCS teams they well ran even though they are really the programs that really get picked through heavily due to the new transer Porter rules they get picked through a lot and oh my goodness the way that some of these teams are able to still keep it together and hold on is great because last week Montana State current ranked number four what did they do they walked into New Mexico and said hey star game you guys may be up on us by two scores going into the fourth quarter but guess what we're going to put up 21 in the fourth quarter and we're going to call game time and hey it's it's something that I think we all got to start paying attention to I think with the N money and I think the transfer portal the big programs aren't going to be big programs for much longer a a lot of wealth is going to get spread around as people see different opportunities different places a lot of guys just want to touch the field and man oh man it's going to create some chaos because going into this weekend I'm trying to think I know South Dakota State they are the number one rank team in FCS and they will be playing good old Oklahoma State and Mike Gundy boy oh boy I love Mike Gundy he's built a great program from the ground up at Oklahoma State especially being surrounded and being pick through from other teams in recruiting like Texas and Oklahoma but just for the mem and the great continent would be if South Dakota State can come into Oklahoma State and kick their ass Mike Gundy will give an alltime presser it's going to be up there with they are who we thought they were and it's going to be up there with Mike gundy's also other Infamous moment the with the I'm a man I'm 40 good grief there's something to go on and man cuz he's already giv some all time stuff already if you know with Oklahoma State Oli Gordon the thir got himself a little bit of a du and well Mike G Being Mike Gundy he basically said well who all the Among Us haven't had a beer to got behind the wheel which is not what you're supposed to say but good grief Mike Gundy is gonna Mike Gundy and hey got no choice what to love cuz that man he is who he is through and and through but I can also say North Dakota just plain North Dakota they're going up to face Iowa state that should be a good game as well a lot the Big 12 surprisingly is scheduled for the conference to open up with all their games versus the rank FCS teams it could spell disaster it could spell victory who knows but hey you got to have you got to give the little guys some opportunity to let you know maybe they might be dangerous or you're not dangerous enough but overall I can say we had a good week zero starting off with Florida State versus Georgia Tech a nice nice walk-off win on a field goal for Georgia Tech it's a good way to start the season and honestly it's been a decent slate of games tonight what one thing I gotta shout out his a general booty currently playing for UL Monroe they're up 10 points on Jackson State Hey general booty is finally on the field and he's getting touchdown so if General booty and you Monroe if they can make themselves a nice run hey got we're gonna be talking about booty ball Man Booty ball is going to be the new wave and hey that's all I got to say for tonight it's Thursday
