We're getting closer and closer to the start of college football season here in Arkansas. Thank you for joining us tonight at six. I'm Faith Whitter and I'm Roy Hoyt. And while the Great Fall games are approaching, we are weeks away from that cool fall weather today. Notwithstanding, it's gonna be hot and that means fans need to be ready at war memorial for the kickoff. And that's why THB eleven's Maya Ellison is live outside the stadium where the staff is working to erase memories of last year when they ran dry. Maya. What's their plan? Yeah, bigger and better is the motto of war memorial Stadium. Staff are telling me they're following heading into next Thursday's game. Now, earlier this afternoon, I spoke with manager John Latch. We took a lap around the stadium and he showed me some of the cool amenities that are sure to keep fans hydrated and cold. It's a familiar sound fans can't wait to hear next Thursday, the empty concourse of war memorial stadium will be filled for the Razorback season opener. More than a week out. Stadium officials are working to get ready for the influx of people, especially after last year, this big thing here is called a water monster. And what it does, it holds 250 gallons of fresh water. If, if you take a look at it, you have uh some spigots here and you have cup holders here. Uh So you grab your cup and you come down uh free water here. Manager John Latch spent the last year addressing concerns from fans following the 2023 war memorial game, a lack of water concessions and ticketing issues, all problems. Latch says will not be present at this year's event. Um We've also increased our network uh for the ticket scanners. We've gone to a team gig network across the entire stadium. So that should help with these scanners and the and the downloading speed for the scanners to upload the ticket. As for the temperatures, the staff can't control the Arkansas heat but the new water stations the later start time and some help from a few fans will help. This fan is a 18 ft in diameter fan. We have two of these one on each side of the stadium and then we all have smaller fans throughout the concourse in front of you'll see in front of every single concession stand just trying to move air through the concourse. Despite the concerns and the changes, Latch says his team is excited to welcome fans back to Little Rock to get ready. It's a big game for us and it's really important to us and uh we want to encourage our fans to come out this year and uh enjoy the game and, and have a great uh wonderful experience and uh continue those war memorial, great memories. Now, I don't know about you all, but I'm pretty excited to use the water monster inside. Now, John also told me that for fans heading to the game next Thursday, you can bring an empty water bottle inside the stadium and you can fill it up at the water monster filled with ice cold water. He also told me to let you all know to be aware of the clear bag policy heading into the game for THV 11 news. I'm Maya Ellison.
