Teacher Leader Elevator Speech for TLED 701 at Old Dominion University, Fall 2024

hello my name is Michaela Mitchell and I'm the administrative assistant and office specialist in student support services at Southwest Virginia Community College I work both in the office and one-on-one with our students most of my students come from varying backgrounds and are from either low-income families or they are first generation college students they also ra range an age from being straight out of high school or they are working adults coming back to school my goal is to meet my students where they are and to give them the tools that they need to be successful do to do that I work closely with our tutorial coordinator to provide free tutoring services to these students and personally tutoring some of them in various courses like English History psychology and all the courses with essays I also have the opportunity to lead tutor trainings and to work with our student tutors to make sure that they have the resources that they need as well as a future teacher leader I look forward to meeting every student that where they are and doing the same for those working around me in my school so that we can all communicate and collaborate towards success
