Julian Hoff claims that her ex Brooks Lake made her feel like a little girl which contributed to their divorce Julian Hoff has shared details about her divorce from ex-husband Brooks Lake the Dancing with the Stars co-host spoke out about her previous connection with the hockey star claiming on the Jamie Kern Lima show that their marriage was the greatest thing that could have happened to me at that time what I needed at that time was to reconnect with my 10-year-old self said the 36-year-old who married Brooks in 2017 do continues on the August 27th episode so what did I need at 10 I truly needed safety almost like a father figure to step in and provide that anchoring force of stability so I believe that a large part of our Dynamic was this young girl feeling and the need for a stable man to be around he laid a wonderful foundation for me to be a little girl but it was that Dynamic especially when Julian started recovering and expanding that made them realize they needed different things I started becoming more of a woman she explained and when that happened I began to listen to my own voice more rather than the 10-year-old one that made decisions automatically as this was happening things began to change her words were this I really started shifting and changing and questioning what I believed in Julian came out as not straight which she discussed publicly in a 2019 Women's Health Magazine interview how does she remember that moment I don't think it was about being straight gay by or queer it was more about learning what love is and loving people the dancer told Jamie Kern Lima I'm not sure what I'm drawn to but I choose you that is the freedom of love that I was beginning to feel Brooks 41 was embarking on A New Path as she began to explore various aspects of herself my ex was Contracting she explained because he had just got let go from playing hockey and he was going through an identity shift to put it simply Julian said it was an expansion for me and a contraction for him and we weren't understanding each other
