someone sent a letter or I forwarded an email I guess that the uh principal of temp viw put out and uh it's dear provos City School District Community uh so I guess uh yesterday today's Friday so yesterday would be Thursday obviously that uh social media stories that spewed hate and violence toward proval High School's coaching staff and their families as well as their players Unfortunately they appear to have come from Temp viw and this is from the principal I deeply apologize I'm deeply sorry and apologize due to the events this afternoon and the lack of time to investig and intervene where necessary I have decided to cancel Friday's football game she has tomor nights but I put in Friday I cannot ensure the safety of our entire Community both physical and emotional safety superintendent has also sent out uh an email saying I'm disappointed and disheartened to see a high school rivalry devolve into this type of vital and hatred social media has embolden this as we believe we can hide behind anonymity or a digital face We Believe that it allows us to treat others with disdain because we do not have to see the consequences of our actions no 100% I agree with that person anybody who's in any type of uh public role has seen that on social media there's just no way around it yeah yeah and the superintendent Wendy Dow writes that with a uh a level of certainty I'm sure she's seen Anonymous stuff oh yeah just completely over the line yeah it reminds me many years back when I was working in Southern California covering high school preps that banning did not want to play dorsy uh because of fears of safety and it was a big big deal big huge deal even drew a little bit of national attention at that time uh and became such a big big story and so here I guess there's similar type of issues concerned for safety I don't know what triggered it I have no idea what the Genesis of it was that gets to this point to where the principal and superintendent decide that they need to take this action I don't know what's going on there and those the neighboring schools I I don't I don't have any clue maybe somebody can inform us get on our app line there and tell us if you know why these things have been out there uh but then of course then the kids suffer man they want to play football I know and they don't get that many games and now they're losing one right seems so stupid but uh but based on the threats and the safety of a lot of people that may well be the right decision not having seen the threats but I'm going to take them at their word and their judgment uh but the superintendent is 100% correct there's so many warriors out there that hide behind fake names and take shots you're a loser I have zero respect for you you are you're just telling on yourself yeah yeah you think you're taking shots of somebody else but you're telling on yourself I can take criticism if the person puts their real name to it send me an email if you don't like what I'm doing put your name to it and there's a high probability that I will respond to you at the minimum I will take what you have to say far more seriously and think about okay this point is that right what can I do better that type of thing but when it's Anonymous means nothing to me because I don't do anything anonymously your name and your face is on everything yeah people know who I am they see me uh out there and you can always get in touch with me uh by email at the minimum you can go on the website and find the address there and I think it's peak in hand at Bonville if you need to know it but and if you put your name to it I respect it yeah even if it's negative I respect it but these dumb threats but no matter what there is in life it seems to me that there's always a downside and you're going to have to deal with that and social media the downside is these idiots that can be anonymous and do their thing and get their stuff out there you wonder do they even really mean it you know if it push came to shove because that's that's the funny thing about it is they send it it's the the classic in the basement and they're never going to leave the basement so it's not going to but there's no way a superintendent or principal knows that if that gets said and then they have the game and something awful happens it's like well you were warned why didn't you do anything so I feel like they have to do something and I think you're right the odds are probably whoever it is is a keyboard Warrior who's never leaving the basement and nothing's going to happen but I just don't know when you're a superintendent principal why you think you'd have that luxury you know depending on what they were told or what they read I can see where they feel like they don't really have an option yeah I don't know about that uh they did what they did yeah but uh you stuff that you would wouldn't say in public in face to face you feel free to say it because in all these years of doing this I've never had a negative encounter with anyone ever in public with the start of football there there have been a few uh really bizarre over the-line social media posts sent my way but what you just said I thought of yesterday because of where I ended up parking and how I walked to the game and how many fans I walked past and most of them were just busy hanging out with their friends and family doing their thing and a few of them shouted something fist bump and I can't believe anybody would give you anything negative I mean you are the world's nicest person but I've read a few of them just in the last week and you laughed like why are they sending that yeah but they're sending you that because you copy and paste my questions nonetheless but they're not directed at you they're ultimately directed at me nonetheless but they think they're IR directed at you so you should modify the question in your own down home I love you please watch me way that might minimize it but it won't end it I I firmly believe everybody who's in public who's out there on social media has seen over thee line disgusting rude weird nasty stuff I believe you've seen more I absolutely believe that but I don't think there's anybody out there unscathed unscathed unscathed there's a story in uh on yahu speaking of unscathed police officers converged in a redist nudus ranch on Thursday using a battering ram to break into the home of a suspect in The Disappearance of a local couple somehow a 73 and a 75 year-old were last seen in an nudus Ranch in Redlands and I don't know what happened to them hopefully they're found but in reading the comments one of them has a strip search was found unnecessary okay well it's N9 o' good point I guess yeah you're right y not much to uncover there okay keep the jok's coming where was the weapon concealed there are many options did they find anything couldn't be hiding much some stuff break time break time right now go early break yach yak's waving it off now hopefully they can reschedule that game they've said they're not going to be able to it's off not at all yeah so they're they can't move it to Saturday apparently not they're goingon to be reduced just to nine games each in the regular season it does high school football is Americana man players want to play the B wants to play the cheerleaders want to cheer the fans want to go hang out with their friends in the stands and that's a strong Community game that they've always played they play it's an annual game even though they've been in different divisions different levels they've always played that game what divisions are they in or what levels uh Tim views 5A this year I think Provo might be 4 a 4 a yeah oh yeah that's so stupid people man I can't get my hands around it what triggered it what prompted it what's going on what led to a I assume it's a plethora or maybe a few but very violently threatening yeah what what triggered that what what would be the reason behind to do what Anonymous jerks did there's no good reason I don't know I have I can't think of any reason what I'm I'm now I'm interested into to learning and I'm sure there'll be some stories about it and I'll be able to figure that out what prompted some folk to go on some form of social media I guess to put that out was it Instagram is that is Instagram hotter than Twitter or X which is which is the go-to social media depends on generation yeah it's a generation I think for people under 30 it's Instagram I was going to say high schoolers of that age probably high school and college kids are Tik Tok B TI Tok big one as well yeah yes I did T TI I can't even speak Tik Tock and Instagram for a while and thought I'm wasting too much time on this yeah so I deleted both of them you're out yeah I it this is doing me me no good I'm finding out stuff about people that I don't want to find out that I don't care to find out I didn't want to know that yeah yeah yeah what what will be in the future because does it wasn't there a time like Facebook was where it was at oh yeah and Myspace Myspace first are those old news yeah uh again it comes well Myspace is definitely old news my face is like dead Facebook uh depending on the generation so youngsters is that what you're saying old fogies just do Facebook years ago yeah yeah Facebook is uh exus more female than male and over 40 probably over 50 even yeah yeah there was something when our it's probably now 10 years ago uh when one one of one of our kids notified my wife Facebook is for old people mom because I don't do Facebook yeah you do you put a question on every day that's not but that's not me doing Facebook oh I see what you're saying yeah no personally you don't I don't have a Facebook account you put the question up for the show my wife doesn't have a Facebook account I don't want to be contacted leave me alone so it's is Tik Tok where it's at called the landline yeah I don't have a landline thank you H there's a lot of Tik Tok out there and you can see Tik Tok repurposed onto other platforms what what's up what's like what what's next oh I've seen I've seen Tik Tok on Twitter oh I don't I mean what's someone going to come up within six months I don't know has it started is there anything buring there was some thought when Elon bought X Twitter that there would be a proliferation of other X wannabes one called Blue Sky there's Instagram threads which is launched up which is supposed to be a competitor with X so oh it is yeah there's there's a few out there but the big hitters right now are still Instagram Tik Tok and Twitter I mean I still get my information through encyclopedias that a kid heading over to the library today aren't you yes fact I just bought the latest encyclopedia was at my door just the other day was not that's a job that's got thank you encyclopedia bran so funny you mention that I was sitting next to a media member who made a look it up in the encyclopedia joke last night during the game they they were announcing records and uh oh that that that brings to mind hold on let me get my encyclopedia and we giggle didn't even hear the word he was an encyclopedia of and almost two years since since keithy has played you wouldn't know they passed the eyeball test oh yeah with flying colors what kind of colors they were flying I seen them in the air yeah is there more a deadly Duo outside of shadur a Travis hunter in the world the world you're GNA go in the world yeah in the world you'll have to go to Mahomes and Kelce they are a fairly dynamic duo prolific even yeah but these these guys aren't going to just get in the face of the coach looking at you Travis Kelce yeah was so unprofessional I lost Los I lost all respect for him no it's not true his brother going topless in the freezing cold he did I had enormous respect for that what's his name Jason is that his name Jason Kelsey now retired now the hundred million doll Men by the way their new podcast Venture got $100 million good for them money they've got it yeah uh but it's a very good combination I like how they clicked immediately and I I get it the com the competition wasn't what they'll face uh but I like how they just got back like it was 2022 all over again and I posted man it's just like when they were kids it was good to see and that's a the level of comfort there that the two dudes have I know they've gone out and pitched themselves for nil they're making a lot of money life is good for them these are the good old days soak them up yeah at in college we'll see what's down the line I think keithy probably has a better chance to play professionally but we'll see what uh cam I'm not going to rule him out what's the point of ruling him out we'll worry about that next year but I think that just being able to see those dudes do what they're capable of doing after injuries have took them away for a long time you know there's injuries and then there's the injury that keithy suffered in September of 22 so you missed All That season and then all of last season that's a serious injury you're basically uh one in one one and three quarters of a season that's a lot that's a long long time that's like Tim Patrick but Tim Patrick had two separate injuries didn't he he did to miss those two seasons both in training camp one was in ACL and one was in Achilles this guy was one knee injury and he couldn't get the knee right yeah for all that time wow but it looked right it passed the eyeball test if you if you didn't know he was the guy who'd missed a season in three quarters you wouldn't have been able to figure it out just sitting there I mean ultimately for me personally I don't care who wins who loses but I care that the guys are healthy and they have that opportunity to do what they do because there's something special about that and particularly when you're beloved and these guys will go down I mean it wouldn't surprise me at some time in years from now that they're honored in the Ring of Honor in the manner that Alex Smith was right it almost seems certainly for Rising inevitable particularly if they go to the playoff this year if he's the starting quarterback with two Rose BS and a playoff yeah I think with two Rose bows he's in but you're right if he adds a playoff to it yeah not to say that Alex Smith couldn't have done that only had one year and they weren't allowed to do it right the system didn't allow it was a different error right you probably could have done but it seems like the rules were drawn up with an eye towards Cam's going to qualify two Conference titles check oh the Ring of Honor yeah yeah I don't know that there's any particular qualification well I guess they listed stuff yeah they listed some and the two comerce titles caught my eye cuz I thought right away well but I mean any you have to do this there's several they created several openings for you to be included rather than right it wasn't just one thing right yeah and in the NFL All America honors Conference titles they had multiple things and I like the way they did it it wasn't intrusive to the halftime it was pretty quick there were no speeches the family was out there they unveiled the thing I know they did some stuff he did some other stuff um I I had heard that then he was going back up to a box or something and those elevators uh they sto at each floor and some UD fan woman got on and touched him like literally touched him and said sorry I just wanted to touch you are you serious yes wow [Laughter] yes yes you just ended up in the elevator with him or you knew someone did story yeah you knew someone who what did I heard the story as I was waiting to go down to the field with uh six seven minutes to go in the game the story was told as we were gathering in front of the elevator but I it was a classy ceremony because it wasn't overdone and it was fun for the fans and that that stuff matters and all that even it matters at the pro level too uh but especially when the college is a little more sentimental uh about what you got going on and he's one of your own you know sometimes at the pro level you know what what is Alex Smith is he a Niner is he a chief I don't know is he uh well he probably not from Washington uh that's where he finished right yeah uh but he'll always be a you that's undeniable and that may go a away down the line the way quarterbacks are transferring but in his case it's undeniable some for some it will but not for everybody yeah man cam had the year of Texas but he'll go down as a UD obviously yeah yeah and he'll always be a legend here and if he doesn't make the NFL he probably comes right back here this is where you can make cash and maybe he goes into coaching I don't know maybe he becomes a Morgan scall type player where he wasn't good enough to play in the NFL but he then uh wants to be a coach and can do his thing I have no idea what he's looking for obviously he'll try for the NFL but yeah he is a ute and he's your people those are your fans and everything and and even though the game has long since morphed away from uh the innocence of amateurism there still is that connection at the college level that you'll always have right and he'll always have and so it was fun to see that for the fans to be excited about that and they'll have obviously they'll add others as I understand it uh coach McBride is on the list and uh that will happen and obviously Kyle will get it down the line whenever he decides that he's done doing his thing uh in a year or two and they'll bring him back think Luther gets it at some point I don't see why not yeah I was thinking about other people and Morgan Morgan could get it yeah those guys can't do it at halftime well he coing that'd be tough right right do some vid taped video thing and put it up on the scoreboard at halftime and call it good yeah hopefully for Morgan it's not done for another uh 25 30 40 years I mean uh when he takes 40 would be too much but when he takes over uh for Coach Whittingham that uh you know halftime is a integral part of the game I don't know maybe they could do something before the game or I don't I don't know how but I I don't remember the the qualifications off top of my head but but certainly scall who embodies what the Utah football program is about I mean as does Alex Smith in terms of particularly them it'll be interesting to see you know going forward because as recruiting gets better and better those guys were undersized under recruited uh Morgan's not that big of a dude uh Alex Smith you know didn't have Utah was the only one scholarship outside of his uncle joh yeah and that was it seemed like that was a a family thing there so you got that going on and then he blows up and does all that he does that's an incredible story The Incredible story of kids being under recruited and then blowing up that sort of defines the Utah football program I don't necessarily think it's going to continue to define the Utah football program uh because there's a lot of kids that come in now who are supposed to be good they come in with the accolades yeah yeah they supposed to coming in anonymous under the radar and blowing up right yeah it's it's becoming more and more common for these kids to come in with more credentials expecting them to be good and so we'll see how that goes but those the the first few guys might be uh more indicative and typical of what the Utah program was about of finding players that maybe the bigger schools didn't want and then they come here and just are excellent and go on to lengthy professional careers that's that's a cool story and and I think that you know you have that throughout sports but I think football breeds that a little bit more of kids overcoming some odds and Utah certainly has been able to do that so overall good night uh as far as what the youths are going for uh plenty of opportunity to grow and and and develop and all that then the the the the arrow has never been this high this early the expectations are high just ibly so and there's really no reason to take the edge off of them now yeah they're as high as they can go well I don't know that that's true I do I mean they're expect to win the commerence but they're not expected to win the national title so that would be higher says who says most fans and most analysts including you but I'm talking about their expectations not what some yahoo decides for them what they have in their program right now did you learn anything about the Big 12 last night you didn't already know given the UTS rolled Kansas and UCF 48-3 57 to three wins Colorado what is there to learn well that is the profile of a team that will fight to get to six and six if they get there well Colorado is an exciting team to watch say what you want about them even in their losses there were some really fun entertaining games competitive games drama yeah and I don't know that that's changed my guess is they're going to have to win a lot of slugfests and they'll be fun to watch Hunter is an amazing player he and Sanders Hunter more so but yeah what Hunter does is more unusual but when quarterbacks throw for 400 yards they can usually get our attention yeah but I think their offense and and and and Dion wants to promote his kids yeah so they're you're not going to be a high draft choice handing off right look at the way he gave the running back the ball that was spectacular right so they're always gonna throw it but he Hunter is a one-of-a-kind player at this level absolutely he is show Otani of college football see what you did there yeah when show is not this year because Show's not pitching this year but right and where do you play him because he's a spectacular receiver that can make plays that the one touchdown catch he had reaching back and and the defender was right there but somehow he still comes up with it that's immense Talent this is a kid that was hyped in a LeBron likee manner for college football high school football and has delivered on the hype and continues to do it at such an incredible level I gotta figure man he'll be a high high draft pick depending on what teams end up and what their needs are and all that stuff so they're a fun team I think they going to have to outscore people uh to win ball games and they're going to have to throw it they can't run it and you're right I don't think they want to run it but I don't think the O Line's at a place where they can run and dominate people so got have to air it out yeah and he's susceptible of to injuries speaking of Sanders and so how long or when and if does it happen yeah I mean he literally was so battered he didn't even play I don't did he even come over when they played here last year I don't think so yeah I why get on a plane yeah uh and so they couldn't be bll eligible they were already done there so right yeah and does it get to that point this year Big 12 Big 12 games Saturday the Marquee would be West Virginia and Penn State but you tell B you don't play West Virginia can can you get excited about Big 12 teams when they don't play either one of the locals they could impact the locals because they play Kansas Kansas State and Oklahoma state so they have a chance to impact the the conference race I I feel personally wise I have no interest in West Virginia it's too far away I don't know anything about their program in terms of their indiv indviduals and I don't know their back stories uh but professionally jobwise yeah I gotta I got to pay attention to it I got to check it out I got to be aware of it I got to see what's going on because who's to say that Utah doesn't play them the Big 12 title game very well could be right well you got a couple chances early because they are playing Penn State and pit this year both those schools right across the state line pit a little more so a little closer but right so I've got I've got to pay attention two intriguing games for them right out of the gate this is the new way of the conferences being so big but in a way it's back to the future because you know we went through that with the 16 team whack we did it didn't bother me so much in football but I it bothered me a little bit in basketball it bothered me a little in football I can remember standing on the sideline for an SMU Utah game and thinking the crowd's not really into it what are we doing here other school year when we comes to town people get fired up non-conference games though it did feel like a non-conference game but it was a confence but you already play that so that's but the fact that Utah when they were really really good didn't go to laramy really bothered you yeah that was stupid because a marquee game yeah that was a place where the place was electric the Utes are coming to town man and BYU was coming to town because in those days you had more of the traditional travel Partners the Thursday Saturday and when you went there the the the community like every time we'd go to Albuquerque when it was BYU Utah week you felt it man people were talking about it watched the sports on television it was the lead stories know those are smaller communities without a hint of professionalism in their in terms of teams I mean not in their in their work I should say professional teams rather than professionalism and it was such a big big deal so it it bothered me far more in basketball than it did because I was used to in the pack 10 sometimes when they were only playing eight games that they weren't playing everybody yep so I had already experienced that whereas in basketball they did play everybody they did Play Everybody twice so it was a new thing and you know you can't play in this 16 team you can't play 30 conference games home and home it'd be cool if they did but they don't Oklahoma State will be playing South Dakota state that's an ESPN Plus game South Dakota State 15-0 national champs last year so maybe we'll get a little beat on Oklahoma State see how they that's a good football program and there's no doubt about it you know obviously they don't have the advantages and the scholarship reductions are there and all that stuff I get all that but that's still a good football team and I think they'll give him a battle I don't think s siiu is going to roll over either for BYU I think there's going to have to be some good play whereas I went to the game last night thinking okay this team has no chance it's over yeah no chance and sure enough they just made it look so easy and it was easy I mean they blew them out obviously we all saw it when we come back your feedback is next stay with us would no no way I like how Salt Lake County people rub turn down their noses on them people meanwhile the rest of the world they all turn their noses down every one of us Utah know when I moved here I literally cannot guard all those weapons Anthony expecting high scoring games from the youths this year lot of offensive output yeah it's going to be an introduction because Utah is new to the conference and they've got new players ready to emerge that's the idea Stanley was on the team last year but he wasn't ready to emerge or they had other guys and so now his time they've got a couple of tight ends loner wasn't even in the sport last year football uh so that's a fun story to follow I hope the kid has a ton of success that's just a fun story and then you got rising and and keithy coming back teams are going to have to account for those guys man that's what I'm saying within the program I don't believe that the expectations have ever been higher and I I think locally I if you pulled what what's this representative 10 50 20 30 100 youth fans does this team have a shot to win the national title I think you would get well over 50% say yes that's a question for another day we'll have to hold on to that I did we forget but yeah I did put up uh wi total what would the youth's record be when they fly back from Florida 31% of the people have 10 and two 20 9% have 9 and three or Worse 29% have 11 and one but to your point there are 11% of the people who said they will be 12 and0 when they return from UCF I just on the surface I would never pick any team be undefeated get I get that but get me to the first buy let me see the health let me see what the record is if they're Five-0 I would advised Caitlyn Bar the Door Kaitlyn yeah not Katie no you got to update it
