Deebo Samuel messages to Brandon Aiyuk on contract talk with 49ers: Just gotta keep waiting like me

NFL right now a guest here on the Insiders Debo is with us Tom pisero Judy Batista Ian raport back with you Debo all that preseason nonsense training camp it's out of the way you're 13 days away from the start of the regular season against the Jets how we feeling how we looking out there in Santa CLA feeling amazing you know um looking amazing you know uh it was a good camp going against this defense and you know uh it's tough T ask every day going against our defense how physical they is how physical we is but overall I think we had an outstanding camp now dbo I do want to go back a little bit to the offseason you were featured prominently in receiver on Netflix and for those of us who love football it was a very cool look kind of behind the scenes at at you at your family at your preparation two parts of this one what was that experience like and then was there something you wanted to show people as it pertains to like getting kind of inside the curtain of the of the NFL and doing that show oh yeah for sure overall like I think the show is amazing uh when it was brought to me I was all I was all hands on deck with it but U I kind of like the fact that it kind of shows not only like what we going through like in the games what people get to see but all the things that they don't see for is how bad we injured and like the things that we got to do to take care of our bodies to get out there and kind of put on the show and give the fans what they want to see Depot you had a good camp and obviously there are very high expectations for this team but there were some people missing from Camp maybe they'll show up Trent Williams and Brendon auk how much does that affect the rest of you who are there how how did that affect how you were able to prepare and practice honestly one thing that you know I kind of stand on now is kind of being where your feet are and control the things that you can control and so um that's just how I go about working and I think that's how everybody else been because at the end of the day none of the players um can handle any of things that's going on outside of the building for as like players that's not there players that's there but um overall you know as a team as a whole we want those guys back all right so I just got one question for you on a Debo I can't let you get out of here without me asking this because we've spent an inordinate amount of time talking about Brandon auk on this show through the entire offseason I think it's been in the show every single day you know him you've played with them for four years I'm sure you talk to what what if anything can you tell us man give us something about how this is going to end I don't know you just got to keep waiting like me all right all right good good good effort Tom good effort I I want to talk about you then Deo you are 28 years old you are one of the more if not the most physical receivers in the NFL I mean we you know you talk about what receivers in KY shanan system have to do they have to be physical they have to block you do all of that was there something you did this off season or in training camp to get you to a point where your body feels really good and you know you can sort of keep this going for years to come so like this offseason of you know I've lost uh two Super Bowls lost the NFC Championship well I lost two of them and it's kind of like that fire that I got like man like I'm trying to put myself in a position to be the best I can every day in day in day out and so just taking advantage every opportunity I had this offseason 4 is been in the best shape possible um and able to come back and help my team I know you individually lost some weight because you felt that that would keep you in the best shape possible but more broadly just as the team like what does the team have to do to get over the hump you've been so so close so many times what do you think the team has to do to get there it's it's that's kind of like a hard question answer because like I me personally I feel like you know every time we out there as a team as a whole we giving it everything that we got um and I'm pretty sure the other team is doing the same as well but I think it's just like more so of like honing in on the details and like minor like minor areas that you will never know about that only we know about that that we can just correct and just trying to be as perfect as possible but nobody's goingon to be perfect Debo I've got a I've got a photo I don't know if we can go wide on me here but I got a photo up on my backdrop it's me and Maurice Jones Drew interviewing you the day after you signed that big contract it was just two years ago it was a monster deal still is a lot of money but you've seen all these other wide receiver contracts getting done you saw what Justin Jefferson got you saw what cidd lamb got you got two years left on this deal you you put up numbers this year is any part of you going I'm gonna I'm gonna get a little bit of that next year control things I control and if the season go as well as it as what it should no you would be right there knocking at the door you know the guy the guy throwing you passes uh well we'll see what payday awaits Brock py that's a different convers ation for a different day but you have seen him now this is your third training camp with him uh certainly one of the NFL's rising stars is there something you've seen this training camp where Brock pie does maybe a little bit better more efficient than he has done previously somewhere where he's kind of improved as a quarterback um overall like me personally I think Brock decision making been outstanding since he stepped in a huddle but um overall I think got a little bigger what we call claws but overall I think like his decision making is through the roof and he's always calm and poised in the pocket I feel like his arm just got a little bigger we heard you on the mik up reacting to a Christian mcaffrey run so what have you seen from him it seems like every year he does something that just continues to amaze all of us what have you seen from him so far this summer one word when you talking about Christian mccaffer man the guy's a the guy's a machine man man he's just man best B I've seen so Debo last thing for you Monday night you've been on a lot of big stages but Monday Night Football the opener against the Jets you kind of know how you know even internally but also with the fans with the media that that week one game kind of sets the tone for how people feel about the team coming out in that first game again with the entire country watching what what do you think we're going to see from these 2024 49ers man hey man uh I ain't going to give you too much of a a head start man but you turn you turn the TV on you sit back in your couch and you turn TV on and you watching we get on the show after you ask me and you tell me what you think all right that's a deal then you got to come back after that we'll talk to you at some point for in the season here Debo thanks a lot man best of luck look forward to having you back here on the Insiders real soon man for sure Brandon auk and the Niners still waiting to come to terms on a contract extension what's the latest on his situation well Kev I can tell you that every day we near closer to the start of the regular season and we are getting close it feels more likely that essentially Brandon auk's choices are except the best deal on the table for the 49ers or continue to hold out a lot of those talks with other teams whether it be the Pittsburgh Steelers the Cleveland Browns some of these other teams that were in talks have sort of kind of Gone by the wayside at this point whether it be because of the draft compensation the the the contract that was on the table for auk ultimately now the 49ers would still like to find a way to get auk to stay with them to accept the deal that's on the table and move along we'll see if that happens anything could still change at a moment's notice but I'm still saying that to me is the likeliest of scenarios auk is under contract for
