"Eagles Booed in Brazil Amid Slay Scandal"

After the drama involving cornerback  Darius Slay, Philadelphia Eagles players   were harshly jeered when they took  the field in Brazil on Friday night. Slay was made to apologize earlier  this week after saying he was afraid   of Brazil's "high crime rate" and  did not want to go there to play   in the NFL International Series between  the Eagles and the Green Bay Packers. In addition, he criticized NFL executives  for sending the Eagles and the Packers to   that country in South America before making a  U-turn and calling it a "beautiful country." Notwithstanding Slay's apologies, supporters  in Sao Paulo's Corinthians Arena expressed   their ire by jeering Eagles players as they left   for pregame warm-ups before the team's  eventual 34-29 triumph over the Packers. His tirade against Brazil, in which  he stated that he was so unhappy with   the scenario that he encouraged his  family not to bother making the trip,   was obviously still fresh in the  minds of Brazilian supporters. He acknowledged, "I told my family not to go down  there because I won't be anywhere to be found." Slay, like Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown says he   intends to stay in his hotel  for the duration of the trip. During the trip, Brown also said in an August   interview that he would be  acclimating to his hotel. "We met with a number of "don't  do's" yesterday," Brown added.   "My goal is to go down there, win a  football game, and then return here." 'We're not down there to see the city; this  is a football game, not a holiday,' he went   on. It's kind of crazy how simple it is to just  stroll along the street while holding your phone. But Slay took to X to apologize  to Brazil amid the outcry over   his remarks regarding the  nation earlier this week. Since it wasn't my aim to insult  anyone, I would like to apologize. I'm I'm excited to play in your stunning nation and  have heard that you guys are just as fervent as   our incredible Eagles supporters. Only  a few days remain, I'm very excited! "My intention was not to offend anyone," he  added, expressing his desire to apologize.   "I'm excited to play in your stunning nation and  have heard that you guys are just as passionate   as our incredible Eagles supporters."  Only a few days left, I'm really excited! The Eagles survived a tough 34-29 victory over  the Packers before the game, brushing aside   the animosity that had been present before to  provide the ideal start to the new NFL season. In his much-awaited Philadelphia debut,  Saquon Barkley proved to be the hero,   leading his local team to  victory with three touchdowns. It was the Eagles' first game after Jason Kelce,  who played for the team for a legendary 13 years,   decided to give up football at  the end of the previous campaign. And after witnessing their explosive 2024 season,  36-year-old Kelce took to X to commend his old   squad while also highlighting areas in which they  still need to develop if they want to advance. 'Eagles 1-0, fantastic opening game of the season  against a formidable Packers squad,' wrote Kelce. A careless game, but they were rolling  when they were executing the man. This one   is really fantastic; if O calms down and D stops  setting off explosives, we can really get moving! With his team heading toward an early loss,  Packers quarterback Jordan Love was forced   off the field in the last seconds of  the game due to a lower leg injury. "Hopefully Jordan Love is okay. Love watching  him play. Was quietly a little nervous about   this one. Big win for the Good Guys,"  Kelce continued in a different post.
