Welcome apparently the c-word was exchanged yes yeah um what by the yes by the way Albert who just got back from England they really use the c-word over there like it's like a different thing you know we use the fword here a lot you hear the fword we're kind of an FW I'm talking about in the world of cursing okay the world of word F-word country and there CW country yeah that's exactly right yeah just for those who are noting it something that they don't tell you in the god books that's why we're here they're a seaword country doesn't offend the way it does over here anyway the seaword was part of the back and forth between Alo and his neighbors but the story just doesn't hold water the timing doesn't hold water the back and forth doesn't hold water and he still hasn't answered for this other flag the appeal to Heaven flag anyway he has answered for recusal and he's saying forget about it apparently the SE everybody quiet listen to me we're going to start a show now some of you people have been with me before I know it's going to be a tough grind but we're going to have a [Music] show good morning good afternoon good evening and good night it is great to be with everyone it's our Tuesday show Kim is at her position Kim how are you at the uh breaking news desk watching all things newsy will'll have updates through the morning coming off of a triumphant June Swoon Meetup it was really something special Tony who joins us today he handled it all I thought you really did a nice job thank you thanks lot of people coming it was very swoony and uh many who couldn't make it last night for one reason or another um insist they want to be at the next one so we have to plan the next one it'll probably be the end of summer or the uh middle of I we're working on it and it's going to have a different Tony and I are talking about something very different very experimental very exciting Crash and Burn it'll either be great or will'll Crash and Burn exactly so um uh either way it'll be enjoyable watching yeah it'll be something that you can um you can tell your friends and relatives about what a show today David K Johnson The piter Prize winner joins us in hour two yeah I have a lot of questions for David K Johnson I am going to visit all the Trump stuff but because he is the dean of trumpology as you're well aware but one of the things I want to ask him about specifically is whether or not the Trump anger tour that he does you know Trump after the verdict during the trial and pretty much daily since the verdict has spewed this vituperative rhetoric this angry uh mean blowtorch that he's directed at the judge the judge is the guy who is handling his sentencing normally you'd counsel a person who has just been convicted of a felony to chill on the bad talk about the jury the system the judge until you've been sentenced not with Trump Trump's making big money we've talked about this and detailed all the money he's made crashed his server Etc all of these donors a lot of political support from those who already supported him has been Fired Up by this verdict maybe booed by that he feels like he has to and you know he has the freedom to send all of this negativity toward the judge my point is simply and my question for Deb K Johnston is you'd normally say don't do that to a defendant to a convicted felon who's just been convicted but will this work I mean or does it not matter I mean because you know he's former president and for all the reasons that have been detailed before he doesn't have to to worry I he's already been convicted does he doesn't have to impress the judge at this point right who cares no that's not right no that's I just finished explaining because the goes to a different Court correct no no but the sentencing is handled by this judge right yeah that's why it's critical he hasn't cared about this judge and has impression of him Trump's impression of trump the whole time no you're right and and and I think you would think that you know you want to impress someone or put your best foot forward and he's been you running his mouth the whole time Why Stop Now exactly I mean that certainly seems to be the Playbook that he's using and I'm just wondering if it will have any effect I as you say he's not reflecting any sense that it matters but I'm just wondering from David K Johnson who knows the legal system so well knows Trump so well and probably has an opinion on that um so that is again in our two there um again I want to thank everybody who uh was part of things last night we really had a great great time and I know that the Mark Thompson show we can discuss stuff uh in those conversations that we really can't discuss uh here and so it's kind of fun to have those unfiltered conversations uh we were joined by Jim aala last night uh John Rothman joined Tim Conway Jr joined uh it was really quite the um quite the crew floating through my Snider the culture Blaster joined as well and uh manowitz would have joined Josh manowitz couldn't make it because he was in uh traveling he was uh in flight from crime con con which is a Convention of people are into the True Crime thing you know and he is like Santa at Christmas at that crime con you know everybody wants a piece of manowitz at those things so we really had a great turn though and it was great to visit with everybody and see everybody I don't know I I I really enjoy those so me too it's weird it's like I don't know I this Sensation that I can't really accurately describe about kind of getting to know people's personalities in the chat and you kind of feel like you know them and then you see their faces and it's kind of it feels like a holiday it's great that's interesting to put it that way I think you're right it's a um it's like a holiday yeah so uh anyway thank you guys for um uh for joining and as I say we're trying to cook up something that really could be fun for later this summer so we'll do another kind of experimental Meetup later in the summer so uh stay tuned is what I would uh say uh and now the Thompson show there is a piece of video and I want to thank teacher Lori who is a regular Kid on the US House Floor viewer of this show and I think she views a lot of other shows she's always talking about other shows that she's seen and stuff she's seen and she's this clearly a um somebody who's periscoped up all the time on different pieces of video and things she's seen and it's really cool that she shares some of that with me and I some of the stuff a lot of the stuff I've seen already or was aware of but some of the stuff and a lot of the stuff I haven't seen already and was aware of so this is something that I hadn't seen and once I saw it this morning I have now seen it with a verality that clearly means it's you know everywhere it is a GOP Congress person addressing the body on the floor of the house and he has brought his six-year old son to sit behind him and the six-year-old son bored or distracted uh doesn't feel as focused on the the justice system as weaponized against my Lord and Savior Donald Trump and so he's kind of got his own show going on and it looked like this fiction of a major political party nominee running for president especially on the charges brought against Donald Trump should should Gravely concern every member of this body as well as every American across our country whether they be Republican or Democrat for Donald Trump or against him regardless of one's opinion of the current Republican nominee we'd be well served to remember the long and cherished tradition we have in this country of settling our political differences at The Ballot Box for nearly 2 and a half centuries our nation's elected leaders have properly resisted the temptation to oppose their political Rivals through the weaponization of our justice system Equal justice for all and an overall trust in our justice system is fundamental to who we are as Americans and those who would destroy that hard-earned trust just to score cheap political points should be held accountable as an attorney I can tell you that May 30th that uh is about the uh pretty funny yeah the the best of it and uh we've all been there so I don't blame the kid and I don't blame this this Congress person who I'm sure I couldn't tolerate for 15 seconds I don't blame him either though I mean that's uh you know it's funny but the kid kind of JT says Oh I thought the boy the kid stole the show I liked lik the kid more than his father yeah JT says I thought the boy was super imposed into the video that's a great call that would have been a great thing to do oh God that's funny his son is a commedian and training yeah really thank you surf he should be superimposed into all future videos where someone's running their mouth and saying stupid stuff oh crazy just put that kid behind him yeah great pretty wild hey Tony do you have um I think it was his son but I pretty he was 6 years old do you have um law and disorder ready to go might want to get into some law and disorder let me just check with Kim on something Kim I don't have I have David next hour but this hour it's just uh I can do whatever I want right you have uh Jefferson Graham popping in at about what yeah yeah quarter of okay um let's do it uh here's some lawn disorder in the criminal justice system the people HS addicts thieves bums wios girls who Law and Disorder can't keep on address and men who don't care are represented by two separate and equally important groups a cop a flat what a bull a dick John Law you're the fuzz the heat you're poison your trouble you're bad news these are their [Music] stories everybody's favorite gold bar hoarding Senator is in the middle of a corruption trial as you know it's not his first corruption trial as we've detailed for you before he's been through this seems to love that corruption that Senator Bob Menendez he is a Democrat he's on trial on 16 Federal corruption counts he's decided to run for reelection what a pair of brass ones honestly on the gold bar ticket what now he's running uh as an independent and uh the reason it's significant he has no chance of winning as an independent in New Jersey none but he could be a spoiler in a race that Democrats would normally win he filed with enough petition signatures according to the New Jersey Division of Elections he needed uh 800 signatures he had 2465 and he announced a few months ago that he was not going to seek re-election as a Democrat but he's now filed and is going to run as an independent now here's why that's significant politically because the Democrats could lose a seat but here's why it's significant to Menendez and here's what's behind it Menendez now can raise money and when you're running for office we've talked about it before it's just one of the great legal ways that you can get a bunch of money you can get it through packs you can get it in all the legal ways that people can support you and essentially siphon tons of money to you and then you have a foundation you have uh a legitimate arm of reelection that you set up and people work there right let's say your wife works there your son works there your neighbor works there whatever it may be you make all kinds of deals to essentially funnel that money through an institution related to your reelection and that's I would suggest what he's going to do and in so doing running as an independent uh he has no chance of winning the seat but he has every chance of helping him raise that money to do what to pay for his defense it is expensive to fight these various legal battles you can ask Donald Trump about that a lot of the money that goes to Trump goes to his lawyers so it it's funny thing I know it's a constant joke Trump's not going to pay his lawyers Trump is not going to pay his Trump will pay his lawyers Trump doesn't pay them the campaign pays them so Trump will never spend a dime on his defense the money from all those Trump faithfuls who have contributed that money will be directed to his defense and to those lawyers at least at least the defense knows they're actually going to get paid that's nice there is that um so again this guy who has virtually no shot at winning Menendez uh is into the campaign now just to give you an idea of how much money he's raised um he has nearly $3.6 million in his campaign account and much of that again will go to his criminal defense lawyers but um you know it's cost him 2 million do just between April 1st and May 15th that's how much it's cost him in legal fees so um it's it's quite and it all C came from the campaign account so uh that's your latest on Menendez who as they say is embroiled in this corruption charge and 16 of them actually uh but in these this corruption uh defense and that likely will continue as I say as those campaign funds are used to fund it now to Minneapolis a juror dismissed this just happened yesterday there is reporting that a woman dropped a bag of $120,000 in cash at her home and offered her more money this juror if she would vote to acquit seven people charged with stealing more than $40 million from a program meant to feed children during the pandemic these seven are the first of 70 defendants expected to go to trial in a conspiracy that cost taxpayers $250 million 18 others have pleaded guilty and authorities say that they recovered about $50 million in one of the largest pandemic related fraud cases in the country just a fraction of the money raised went to feed lowincome kids the rest was spent on luxury cars jewelry travel and property horrible during the trial defense attorneys questioned the quality of the FBI's investigation suggesting that they this might be more of a case of recordkeeping problems you don't understand you just have this wrong this is all mischaracterized you know those kids got the food the seven initial defendants were affiliated with a restaurant that participated in the food aid program those still awaiting trial include um the founder who pleaded not guilty anyway this 23-year-old juror said she turned over the bag of cash to police police and she said a woman left it with her father-in-law with a message that she'd get another bag of cash if she voted to acquit the defense attorney told the judge that the bag of cash is quote a troubling and upsetting accusation before allowing the trial to continue with more closing arguments yesterday the judge questioned the remaining 17 jurors and alternates none reported any unauthorized contacts no other bags of cash but the judge decided to sequester the jury for the rest of the proceeding as a precaution she said I don't do this lightly but I want to ensure a fair trial there is the cash that's we showing it to you now man it is uh a Wilder and Wilder story those stories that emerge from the courtrooms in America the arguments in Donald Trump's Georgia appeal are set for October and what does that mean it means that nothing's getting done before the election yeah Trump and eight codefendants as you know have asked the state court of appeals to reverse the decision keeping Fulton County district attorney fonnie Willis in her office on the case because of misconduct allegations we can talk more about this with David Katz we'll talk about it with David K Johnston but the October 4th scheduling of oral arguments as I say guarantees that this trial won't proceed before the election and that is Law and disorder tune in again next time for more law and disorder on the Mark Thompson show all right that's it let's roll hey let's be careful careful out there uh smash the like button like a boss if I can get that into you yeah it helps us in the world of YouTube If you smash that like button and hit subscribe also the notification Bell we do drop videos in the next few months we are going to be dropping some very special videos and conversations that won't be on the main show and so the only way you'll know about them is if you hit the notification Bell so please uh do that as well I um The Mark Thompson show I was interested in something that may have jumped out uh at you as well you know we talked about the fact that Mexico elected the first woman president in a country that is an example of a strong patriarchy right and uh I was interested in the fact that as I learned and I didn't know this maybe you guys knew this that Mexico actually is a place where despite the impression of a well-entrenched patri R Archy and a country that's informed by Catholicism which is really a a religion to be fair that has you know patriarchy associated with it let you know you can't if you're a woman you can't be a priest um there are there are a number of like old school I think Catholic tenants that relate essentially to a general patriarchy you know it looked like looks like a lot of religions are cooked up by guys and maybe they're in I'm not saying they're not legit guys if you're a religious religious person whatever maybe it's inspired by the Lord who talks to these guys and they work it out and they hand down this uh religious stuff uh to you and and religions take off and systems of belief follow so I'm not I'm not a assailing your faith uh but I uh am saying that it's just odd that every Faith pretty much uh really doesn't give women a shot it's just odd to me I don't know it's um pretty well entrenched so I got to keep those ladies controlled I I watched with interest that when Mexico did elect the first woman as their president but the interesting thing I thought was that as I read Mexico actually has many laws related to giving women a break so even as I talk about Mexico and the patriarchy they are far more advanced than are we for example just north of the Border there are laws that require let me find it here let me take off my credibility glasses for this so that I can find it they've required political parties in Mexico to ensure that female candidates make up at least 50% of all competitors in federal state and Municipal elections I mean imagine that here never would happen nope it has transformed politics ICS in Mexico more than half of the members of Congress and nearly a third of Governors are women and women head the Supreme Court and the ministries of the Interior education economy public security and Foreign Relations political scientists say that female leaders have helped push some of Mexico's most Progressive politics including a federal law that gives domestic workers the right to Social Security and the decriminalization of abortion by several States before The Supreme Court ruled last year that it should be allowed Nationwide that's in Mexico you know we're the big oh we're the us we're the best well we're the most exceptional we're about freedom and liberty and meanwhile South of the Border they are really taking aggressive strides to make sure that this vibrant part of the population isn't kept down that's what's going on in Mexico and that's how you end up with a woman as president of Mexico and two major female candidates as well speaking of which today I got a message from my husband and it said today is the anniversary of congress's ratification of the 19th Amendment congratulations wow what a cool message to get from your husband too yeah very very cool yeah 104 years ago we we've had the right to vote for for that long so that's how insane we talk about this um uh insane has taken it took so long I mean we talk about the founding fathers the founding fathers we we talk about the Founding Fathers as though they they're a Divinity of some sort I mean they did an amazing thing and there was real heavy lifting involved and that was an intense negotiation and the actual crafting of those documents and the underpinnings of this country uh it truly extraordinary that said they left a lot on the table because of the time and because of their own proclivities and their own disposition towards certain things like women and black people um and Indigenous people but it is crazy that it took that long for us to actually pass legislation to give women the vote yeah anyway that's um that's encouraging what's happening South of the Border and I just hope it happens here um all right Kim's News Jefferson Graham joins us from the road David K Johnson the Pulitzer Prize winner all still ahead Mark Thompson show The Mark Thompson Kim's News show on the mark thomp son show I'm Kim mallister this report is sponsored by Coachella Val coffee.com yeah taking big sip little news sip while you are oh yes that's right well it's going on in the hunter Biden trial now underway prosecutors are questioning an FBI agent as their first witness in the federal firearms case in Delaware during opening statements the defense made the case that Hunter Biden didn't have any interest in buying a gun while the prosecution claims he knowingly lied to the gun dealers the president's son is accused of illegally buying and possessing a gun while being addicted to drugs in 2018 President Biden meanwhile has signed an executive order aimed at slowing the flow of Migrant Crossings at the US Mexico border there he is a few months ago walking along the the Border area the action will prohibit migrants who cross the US Mexico border illegally from applying for Asylum once the number of daily encounters tops 2500 between official ports of Entry the White House says the order will make it easier for immigration officers to quickly remove individuals who don't have a legal basis to remain in the United States speaking of the United States there are five states holding primaries today voters are going to the polls in Iowa Montana New Jersey New Mexico and South Dakota in New Jersey Congressman Andy Kim is expected to beat uh Senator Bob Menendez for the nope I lost my Kim for a second what happened there Tony she's frozen kim can you hear me now I hear you go oh man I have a connection issue Andy Kim Andy Kim is expected to take that Democratic nomination for Senate uh because it used to be held by Senator Bob Menendez so it looks like he'll Coast to easy Victory there of course Menendez is facing trial on federal bribery charges Menendez meanwhile is is uh reportedly planning to try and Salvage his seat by running as an independent so we'll see how that goes this is something you you really don't want to hear uh we have this woman in Nebraska who was believed dead but no found alive at a Funeral Home in Lincoln authorities yeah authorities responded to the butherus merer and Love Funeral Home when 74-year-old constant glance was discovered to be alive and still breathing yesterday after earlier being declared dead at a nursing home glance was taken to a hospital police are investigating you can see there the picture of the nursing home and the police holding the press conference yes this did happen man this has happened before this isn't the first time this has happened I I'm you know it's um this is the thank you baware is right this is the second woke up in the morg story I've heard this year more happens more often there has been something like it that's the point wow yeah uh baseball Scandal mm did no one hear the story of Pete Rose and did that not scare them because this whole gambling thing is just really getting out of control here's this amazing baseball player his name is tucupita Marano I have a picture of him and here he is here he is believe they suspend you for life yeah and he got a life lifetime suspension he's being permanently banned to cupita marono after the league found that he bet more than $150,000 on baseball meanwhile Michael Kelly of the Oakland A's Padre's minor league pitcher Jay groom Philadelphia Philly's minor league infielder Jose Rodriguez and Arizona Diamondback's minor league pitcher Andrew salfrank all received one-year bans for violating MLB's gambling Poli policy so Maro he's out man imagine that the entire career gone they have signs everywhere in all the locker rooms no betting on baseball I mean it is a clear message constantly repeated no betting on baseball imagine working your whole life for something and you make it to this level and that's what brings you down oh yeah yeah I mean it's crazy too Jim is Right NFL NBA MLB they have commercials for online betting just about every commercial break now what what could go wrong yeah you tempt these are young guys and you think ah whatever I I I know so much I'm in the game I'm not allowed to bet a little bit yeah you're not from what I read he was on the injured list when he was betting on games right he not actually playing that's exactly right yeah uh a former California assemblyman is now serving in Congress so we have uh we have that although maybe we don't like him I don't know Vince Fong sworn in yesterday he'll be finishing out the term left open by former house Speaker Kevin McCarthy who left in December Fong who was 44 beat the sheriff of tari county in last month's special election for District 20 close to a 100 fire hydrants have been stolen in Los Angeles County so far this year you know we need those right I mean 85 fire hydrants have been stolen in unincorporated communities 14 others stolen in lywood authorities say thieves are selling them at metal recycling yards in South La Golden State water company is now installing locking shields on fire hydrant to cover the bolts in the hopes of making them tougher to steal honestly I mean what's happening this um I mean I'd be willing to bet my lunch that there's alcohol involved I don't think there is alcohol there's money involved is what there is yeah I guess so who knew you see a fire hydrant and see dollar dollar bills yeah speaking of which in case in point yeah look at them they just rip it right off there wow the heat is making it harder to battle flames in the East Bay Cruise contained that 115 acre brush fire east of Livermore last night sparked about right around the corner from a wildfire near Tracy that one 85% contained and in Redwood City people had to flee this fire they're finally headed back home evacuation orders lifted last night hours after an affordable housing complex that was under construction when Up in Flames the wind sent Embers flying the smoke sparked an air quality advisory in Redwood City actor Jonathan Tucker being called a hero for reportedly saving a family from a home invasion near his home in Hancock Park Los Angeles magazine reports Tucker called 911 Sunday night after seeing a stranger walk into his neighbor's home Tucker then brought a young girl an infant and their mother out of the house and to safety like something in a uh a movie right police arrived they arrested a man who's now on a mental health hold Tucker is known for his roles in the TV series Kingdom and the movies The Ruins and hostage as well so it's like an action movie come to life in that neighborhood man that's wild uhhuh Warner Brothers Discovery raising the price of the adree subscription plan for x max Thompson show we're in the middle of our Tuesday show Robert points out that luxuriate is a ding word I think that's true and I also saw that viewfinders President points out on the HBO raising the price now you get why they changed the name to Max used to be HBO now it's right that's very funny if you find her right on right on well this guy is Jefferson Graham such a talented dude he was the longtime Tech writer for USA Today then he flipped him the bird and he started his own YouTube channel his own substack he joins us regularly he's a lot of the time these days on the road in Italy and across this great country uh put it together for the great Jefferson Graham and where you're in Montana I saw something from Boseman Montana earlier yeah that's true and and we have audio this week you hear me right you sound great actually you sound better than we do on the show I'm in the last best place Boseman Montana the fastest growing city in the United States and one of the most photographable so I've been having a ball taking pictures well one of the things you did and I want to ask you about this Jefferson Graham because I don't like to be critical I feel very close to you and you've been a great supporter of the show and that's how we post Jefferson graham. substack docomond photowalks TV which is your YouTube series but you do Post amazing pictures of everything and you posted one earlier I think it was last night from Boseman Montana and it was stunning as are all of your pictures uh but it was in black and white and I say but it was in black and white because I'm wondering if that and I want your opinion on this is that a cheat Jefferson Graham to put something in black and white it gives it a sort of a significance and a mood and a um a Beauty often times that it might lack were it in color what do you think well first of all I didn't post any Black and Whites from Boseman so we we got that but I did post some Black and Whites from uh Cody Wyoming oh sorry okay all right Cody Wyoming oh I'm live streaming it's going this way yeah I somebody's talking to me talking to the camera but anyway um so uh black and white looks more classic look just looks really cool uh so um and it was a contest picture so I I think they there it is we're showing it now nice it does really look great you take that same picture and you make it color and you don't even save it oh I have it in color as well I just think it's more dynamic in black and white I'm just making a point about black and white and how effective it is uh but anyway uh all right go ahead before they arrest you what else is going on over there uh well I'm in front of a woman's house and she thinks I'm photographing her house and of course I'm going this way um so anyway uh what's with the blue uh you you painted the wall no it's uh the blue is the light it's blue does it it's coming across blue yeah oh it should be black shall we change the uh the lighting here as you know is frustrating but I'm using the lighting that you provided Jefferson gram you consulted on fact okay we're going to get together one one day I will be home one day I will be home I'll be home in two weeks and uh and we're going to get together and I look forward to that cup of coffee I can tell that this lady is about to kick you off the lawn so she she it's going this way it's going this way not that way she doesn't understand yeah does she speak Spanish I can okay oh it's it's going this way yeah this is um oh okay here we go yeah there there you go maybe you want to do it that way okay yeah the Big M okay so WWDC worldwide developers conference Apple uh happening next Monday every June Apple puts out new software uh that updates your phone and your iPad and your watch and all sorts of fun stuff even you don't have to buy new stuff they just give you new goodies and this year the big news is supposedly Siri Siri Siri Siri the uh the digital assistant that we all hate that we've been using for 10 years that never really grew up and this year with the whole AI Revolution uh they're expected to have a major AI update to Siri Siri will be more chatty instead of saying I don't understand uh I need more information or whatever you'll say what's the weather and Siri will tell you what the weather is and then you can say well what's the weather going to be tomorrow what's going to be like a Wednesday you could actually talk to Siri well I suppose that's exciting there's no way to uh circumvent Siri I mean in other words you can't say I don't want Siri I don't want to use Siri sure don't you don't have to use it at all you could also use the Google Assistant instead you could even use Amazon's assistant uh and you don't have to use Siri you could just go into the settings and just uh you know uh opt out of Sir the uh the software update for iPhone and iPad they'll be announced there it sounds like most of the Apple stuff is related to what you're talking about which is Siri upgrades and AI integration yeah well of course Siri is the iPhone and the iPad right uh and the watch it's it's everything so it's the digital assistant um if they really upgrade Siri finally after all these years that would be amazing uh if you could be as chatty as chat gbt I think people pretty pretty excited though I will say more people use Siri than any other digital there Jeff in your ear Jeff in your ear okay open up the camera go on the 1X lens shoot it at 1:30 in the afternoon now turn left turn right they're saying I should do that what do you think I just gave you that idea I'm I'm the one saying it I mean do you listen to what I say I literally just said oh my God I just said to you you can have this for free and I it's an AI thing and you you open up the camera you point it and then it tells you the way to of course it's your voice yes you must do that Jefferson Graham okay all right well we'll do that when I get home I was kidding about not looking forward to seeing stuff from your Boseman trip what's the next stop uh Park City Park City oh actually I'm going to Jackson and then Park City terrific really really cool all right the national parks let me just say the national parks are so amazing the West is so amazing big wide open Skies we don't even think about it we don't spend enough time there no no other place in the United States has anything like it everybody should just get out and see it that's what I I love that you say it you know I say it too I try to get Courtney to go she wants to go to Japan I want to go to where you're talking about the West I want to go to you know and the last stop the last stop Mark is Zion National Park that's really where I want to you know I I desperately want to go there never have seen it um thanks for joining us we'll talk next Tuesday from uh one of those locations you just mentioned I guess and uh really appreciate all of your takes on things Jefferson Graham everybody bye Jeff the Mark Thompson show thought we're going to have an incident there where he's um taken out by a local homeowner I had that happen to me when I was auditioning to be a newsers in Buffalo New York I it's really how I got will you tell me when when David K Johnston uh gets on um I was auditioning to be um a weather guy there and I they just wanted to some kind of thing they shot me uh my buddy who was a news photographer came out and shot me with a news camera and stuff and um just it was a sample of like how I come across on television so we went down to the marina in Buffalo the idea was get the job and then they'll train you in meteorology work with the meteorologist and all this stuff so I was just trying to concentrate on the on camera stuff so we go to to the marina and I get on just as Jefferson Graham had set up in front of that lady's house we actually started with a walking standup so he set up the camera guy on Shore and I set up I start on the boat and I start addressing camera I get off the boat and I walk down onto the marina and I walk toward the camera so it shows whose boat was it exactly so we just found a boat that nobody was on okay somebody Bo there Mar you you trespassed and I'm only like three steps on but I am standing on her boat sure you know and we do know it's a her because I begin and this woman comes storming up from underneath in the cabin below and she said what the hell are you doing and I said oh we're doing a thing for she said get and I don't even get a sentence she said get the hell off of my boat you says this is my boat you have no business here I said I'm sorry we're shooting this she said I don't get you know and she get the F out of here and blah blah blah how dare you and so he's rolling on all of this and I I pivot and as I walked down I continued to address camera as though it was a live television broadcast and I kind of turned into something funny right and then I remember at the very end I sort of beg for the job like a quick beg for the job like in 10 seconds so you've seen this whole thing blow up you've seen me walk down and then walk toward the camera and then I melt down and beg for the job and apparently the news director had everybody at the station literally from sales from you know uh marketing people the traffic people everybody came in to watch this audition because it was unlike anything he'd ever seen and I got the job and it was from so I haven't even thought of that until I just saw Jefferson Graham get into it with that lady and I thought oh my God this reminds me of the lady who yelled at me when I was on the boat please tell me there's footage of the somewhere that you have would love to see that please we got to play it we got to fight that I don't defense he was standing on a public sidewalk just even near her house you were actually on the person's property like you know so there's a difference yeah absolutely I was wrong we were wrong um but it's not like we were you know there's no defense but um there's no defense for my conduct where is the um where's the tub and uh there's no defense for conduct like to apologize to the boating community because that was not cool I don't know um no defense where is that it frustrates me when I can't find a um H there's always been in this country 30 to 35% idiots that was a fun drop last night but but Mark why did you get on her boat all right is that what this is going to turn into uhuh okay God yeah exactly baware gets it Mark trying to sell that he has a friendly presence on TV while he's getting yelled at by a boat lady yeah exactly pretty this is no picnic no summer camp that's right [Music] um I was trying to find that um you got it all right sad to say no a flawed human being who makes mistakes exactly everybody why can't um I'm trying to be a better person yeah uh there is no defense for my conduct thank you that's the drop that I wanted there's no defense for my conduct all right smash the like button like a boss with your iron Rod I did want to get into the story about the proud boys getting back I just don't want to run up against David K Johnson too much but um maybe I can address it now and I will um Step Aside as David comes on or did you want to do another newscast Kim what what are you thinking whatever floats your boat get it h clever yeah thank you um all right let's um let me tell you about the reemergence of the uh the proud boys a bit because it's uh it's significant so you the Mark Thompson show uh it's The Proud Boys are back exciting they are rallying behind their lord and savior the proud Boys Are Back everybody that's right the violent political movement and white nationalist movement is back this time funnier than ever they say that recruitment is growing and they are all ready to serve again as Donald Trump's unofficial protection Force perhaps why are people so angry and icky when you feel as though you want control of the system that doesn't give you any control often times this can be a a thing to animate almost a well it's a part of the culture that's militarized and I would suggest completely Hoodwinked to believe certain things but they are fundamentally white nationalists they're also Christian nationalists there is a way that it all washes together but they are a dangerous crew and this Reuters report on the way they are rebuilding is scary I mean it's a long report and I'll link to it if you want to actually read it but um four years after the failed effort to overturn Trump's 2020 electoral defeat Reuters goes on the violent all male extremist group that led the storming of Congress on January 6th is rebuilding and regaining strength as Donald Trump campaigns to return to the White House this is according to interviews with many proud boys also law enforcement officials contributed to many of these interviews and four experts who track the group's online activity also were part of this report since the January 6 Capitol Riot four former proud boy leaders have been convicted in federal court of seditious conspiracy each sentenced to 15 years or more at least another 70 were charged with participating in the violence but that Crackdown has not stop the proud boys they are emerging again as a physical Force for Donald Trump drawn to his Hardline nationalism and convinced that they will be pardoned if he wins that's no small part of this Trump himself they have yikes yeah there is Trump on many of their shirts and he has made promises that he will pardon the January 6 riers the convicted January 6 riers if he's elected so after the guilty verdict the Ohio proud boys chapter vowed quote War they posted a video of proud boy street brawls that ended with the message fighting solves everything the Miami chapter said now more than ever we are recruiting some posted images of the upside down American flag symbolizing the stop the steel movement the group's main telegram Channel posted a message urging proud boys to stay calm but the message again Trump is of course getting railroaded but we will not be walking to any honeypots over this in recent weeks the group has become more prominent at prot Trump rallies highlighting the risk of renewed violence and of course Donald Donald Trump has stirred some of this violence his rhetoric has become far more incendiary than it was in the past and it was already pretty bad so uh that's a quick snapshot of the re scary those people are really scary to me uh they are scary they really are scary and I think one of the things that was encouraging before was they really weren't super well organized although they had a lot of allies within the Trump Administration as you know Roger Stone met with them the morning of j6 and there were others that were sort of satellite groups and one of the things they've done and then I want to get to David K Johnston is they have decentralized it used to be that the proud boys had a mother ship now they are set up more like the House of Representatives where they have a lot of these independent um members of The Syndicate if you will but there is no one mother ship there's no central office and that gives them uh almost an elusive quality from the standpoint of law enforcement it's much harder to keep track of them and it also allows them to operate a little more independently so uh the proud boys and the white nationalist militias are regaining tremendous momentum and it is legitimately a scary thing I'll post a link to the Reuters piece which details a lot of that and I think those interested will really find it something worth uh checking out so now let's get to today the Mark Thompson show he's a pullet David Cay Johnston surprise winner he wrote a great piece um after the I don't think David has been on since uh since the verdict he wrote a great piece after the verdict uh uh in the Donald Trump case but he's a piter priz winner who's written so many terrific investigative pieces and pieces about Trump and books about Trump multiple best-selling author he's called the dean of trumpology here he is David K Johnson everybody hello Mark and Mark I've got something for you that's that's news people have not heard and I think is very important uh inflation has been receding but there are two areas where it has not been and that's the core the reason so many people uh think the economy is bad one is food prices but the other is rents rents have gone up 30% in the last four years well it turns out that propublica last year did invest investigation uh into the fact that a very large segment of housing now rental housing individual homes and apartments are owned by big corporations those used to be mom and pop or a bunch of Rich investors in a community would own these things now they're owned by big corporations they've been using a software product called real pages one word real is in real estate pages and at that website the company brags you know using our web our web information you can get the highest possible prices you know when the Market's down you're going to make money when the Market's up you're going to make money you're going to be able to charge the highest rents that is an open Declaration of collusion in violation of the 1890 Sherman Antitrust Act well the FBI yesterday raided the Atlanta headquarters of real Pages you will not find a single mention to this today from the AP the New York Times The Washington Post all the mainstream media have missed this it's in the real estate specialty Publications and some bloggers and this is a really important development particularly about this legitimate concern people have that rents have been going up faster than the economy think about the community of people affected by that exactly yeah it's enormous about 65% of Americans own their home more than half of them have mortgages but about 65% you're talking about roughly a third of Americans live in rental properties and there's still lots of mom and pop rent rental firms on the other hand when you have a a coordinated collusive uh action to violate the Sherman an trust act which by the way is a criminal law price fixing is a crime um that allows everybody else to push their prices up oh thank you for putting up if you're watching folks online uh the uh reuter I not Raiders the pro publica piece is now being shown yeah I'm sure you'll put a a link to it yep we will indeed and then I wanted to just one other thing I wanted to get out of the way that that I think is important Donald Trump gave an interview to Fox it's been commented a lot that it was very heavily edited and oddly edited and what was edited out but he said something very important um I warned people in 2016 if Donald gets to the White House and he starts firing the general and the Admirals be very afraid because that's how you take over the government you get rid of the people like Mark Millie who honor their constitutional oath and remember Grunts and sailors take an oath to follow the orders of the president and protect the Constitution but officers only take an oath to defend the Constitution they do not have a loyalty oath to the president well Trump uh announced on Fox that he's going to fire all the woke generals we can't have woke Generals in the media in in in the military excuse me that's exactly what you want because the military needs to be aware of all the cultures and places that we deal with around the world and their differences and have respect for them to have be successful and it's an indication of you know how Donald doesn't know anything about anything but especially military matters but he pledged he's gonna fire all of them if he gets back to the White House the day he fires the first highlevel general that that's the day people should realize he really will be our dictator if we don't stop him well if you have the military David that's the whole game isn't it yeah oh yeah and and and we have had a military that has been absolutely subordinate to uh civilian rule you can like or dislike things like when Truman fired uh General MacArthur uh over his disrespectful comments when uh General mccristal uh both of these men very highly competent highlevel generals uh were fired one by Truman one by Obama the the there was no question that you serve at the pleasure of the president when you're a high level officer and you can be removed and Donald wants to remove people not because they've been you know in mist's case he said all sorts of just outrageous things to a rollingstone magazine reporter about Obama uh it were disrespectful uh Donald wants do it because of course he really believes that he should uh be in charge not just of America but the whole world I mean you know you and I so yeah the you know when ignorance means arrogance that's a noisy Street Corner uh with that accident that's a great line um I I want to ask you about something else you mentioned propublica they did a piece about those who receiving significant financial benefits for testifying in defense of former president Donald Trump they flowed from Trump's businesses these benefits have and also from campaign committees according to propublica they analyzed public disclosure court records and security filings one campaign ad had his Aver his Aid I should say one campaign Aid had his average monthly pay double from 26,000 to 53,500 another employee got a $2 million severance package barring him from voluntarily cooperating with law enforce and one of the campaign's top officials had her daughter hired onto the campaign staff where she is now the fourth highest paid employee this is all for cooperation with Trump's defense right and and I want really want the audience to understand something most news is an accurate recounting of the official and public version of events the president said this the Senate passed a bill the mayor gave a speech so and so company announced the new product or their earnings this story was pieced together brilliantly by I think there's four by lines on that story I know three of the people very well where they went through all sorts of desparate public records and found the facts to report this story this is not news that was announced this is news they dug up and of and of course Nal paid off people to be cooperative Alan weiselberg who got the $2 million is right now sitting in Riker's Island and there you know there are bad jails and then there's Riker's Island uh for for 150 days because he lied under oath at the persistent fraud trial before judge en Goran and this is how Donald does business you know he he tried to bribe the late great Wayne Barrett the first journalist who got on to Donald and seriously began covering him uh Wayne worked for four years for the Village Voice and yet he had the most extraordinary sources in the FBI uh uh New York detectives I mean he just was deeply deeply respected by by these folks who cooperated with him all the time and he tried he told Wayne well listen here's this multi-million dollar Trump Tower apartment I'll give it to you if you stop writing about me this way uh that's that's what that's what Donald does he he he he pays people off to shut up as he did with by the way the two women sure I mean if I just continue there's a new development this I want to make sure we don't miss during the second impeachment of Donald Trump which occurred after he left office the Republican leadership most notably Mitch McConnell all said he's gone from office we shouldn't be engaged in this impeachment no reason you can't do it and because the courts can deal with him and Mitch McConnell explicitly indicated he expected there to be uh Court action against Donald Trump well we just saw that the courts dealt with Donald Trump he's been convicted of 34 felonies and what is the leadership of the Republican Party doing completely rigged system the criminal justice system has been weaponized uh it's being used against Republicans by the way uh the president of the United States son is on trial right now because the president of the United States Joe Biden kept Donald Trump's prose on the job to this day and expanded his P Meritt Garland expanded his powers Senator Menendez of New Jersey a Democrat is on trial today and Congressman I'm not sure I pronounce this right quar of Texas is on trial today as well and he's a Democrat so it's kind of hard to make the argument that they've weaponized the justice department against Republicans well yesterday I just made the same point and it stopped at Hunter I mean you point out these others so well but I stopped at Hunter I said do you really believe that a trump child would be on trial they Trump would allow it to go forward it would be it it it's crazy not possible yeah exactly I mean there's and the Democrats really cut their own throats a bit but they also honor A system that they feel and the institutions that they feel are significant so I mean for that I suppose you got to give them credit but but I think they're looking for credit from the other side and you'll never get credit from the GOP for for doing that no uh I I I wanted to ask you about you mentioned Trump and the trial so I'll just get to that first um cuz I love that piece I do want to double back CU that you detail in the piece that you wrote after the Trump guilty verdict some things that are really interesting um but I want to ask you about a question we had which is with Trump smack talking the judge the way he is and his sentencing coming up yeah it's an odd thing to reconcile because normally wouldn't you Council David K Johnson a someone who's been found guilty to kind of hey chill out on smack talking the judge yeah years ago I wrote about I wrote about a lot of tax deniers and there were uh 15 of them who were convicted and went to prison some of them for so long they died in prison and there was a couple I wrote about in I think it was Sacramento who went to their sentencing and they got fairly light sentences they got some prison time but it was nowhere near what they could have gotten and they immediately stood up and said you know you're corrupt the whole system is dishonest they went into this TI raade the judge just patiently listened to them and then doubled their sentences so the husband got I think 16 years instead of eight um and uh well every uh public commentary show I've been watching most of which I've been on in one time or another uh lawyers left and right Republicans and Democrats law professors are all saying oh Trump probably won't get any jail time I think that's completely wrong I think John Absol absolutely will get jail time I'll be shocked if he doesn't get at least 30 days and I would expect he'd get somewhere between one and four years and he'll be ordered to report um uh sometimes you know he'll be given a 10 days or 30 days to report after the July 11 sentencing because he's a recant criminal if you show Contrition I realize now I made a mistake um I shouldn't have done this I apologize to the court I oliz to the victims of my crimes you tend to get leniency and and people lie about that by the way you know they're not you know we had one of the January 6th insurrectionists who said all the right things in court and then proceeded to start sending out emails and posting on blogs you know that that was nonsense and you know he still wants to overthrow the government and he uh got hauled back into court um Michael Cohen was prosecuted by the Trump justice department for the same incidents a different theory of the crime and a federal crime rather than State and he was sentenced to three years in prison of which he served I think 15 months um that I I just can't imagine that judge Maron would say oh you get informal probation or uh you have house arrest at Trump Tower and if he does do house arrest I certainly hope it's a Trump Tower not at maral Lago or Bedminster where he can play golf I mean that would be sort of meaningless that's just stay at home uh in in a way that wouldn't bother Trump for a minute does the uh but but but your point is is so well taken on the fact that the lack of Contrition and it's really the opposite of Contrition right this uh the continued fire breathing dragon that Trump is toward the judge in the process uh if that does come back to bite him will what you suggested which is that there would actually be a jail sentence wait until his appeal is done or exactly how is that disposed that's up to the judge the judge can say you you're that was my point he'll be sentenced July 11th the Republican Party nomination begins in Milwaukee on the 15th four days later uh so the judge gives him a week or 10 days that's fairly common 30 days uh what Trump will do immediately is his lawyers will go and try and find some judge who will block his being incarcerated and already you've seen Mike Johnson the speaker say that the Supreme Court should intervene there is no constitutional issue here this is not an issue of um a minority defendant or religious minority defendant who's being discriminated against the the you know we're talking about a wealthy white man I mean I'm sorry where what's the most privileged group in America and but they will try to do that they will try to get a temporary restraining order and then a temporary and then a permanent injunction to keep from jailing him that should not happen it is entirely within the discretion of the judge to jail Trump for up to four years and you know you know where the news will go if the judge does this well see this is the Biden conspiracy no this is an elected State judge a jury of Trump's peers from Manhattan well-educated jury and a locally elected prosecutor and you know it's not like this is out of nowhere I mean after all let's look let's see Donald Trump's fixer is a convicted felon his chief former Chief of campaign uh uh Chief Paul maniff for's a convicted felon maniff for's depu is a convicted felon his National Security adviser General Flynn is a convicted fil he's just surrounded by criminals uh you used a phrase in the piece that I really liked and we're going to link to the piece I think we already linked once in another video last week but uh I want link to it again after the Trump sentence after the Trump verdict David kind of wrote a sort of a summary piece if you will on on some of the stuff that looks back at the way Trump has done business and the way Trump has tried to buy people out some of which you've alluded to here today um but you used a phrase that was really great and and you you do I think attribute it to Wayne Barrett who you also have talked about today who is a journalist a great journalist um in the in the Trump investigative world as well and it's moral Larsen and uh I thought that was just a it's a terrific term and then you do build it out could you speak to to us about that for a second yeah that was Wayne's uh term and Wayne was like I don't know my big brother um he uh was this just unbelievably brilliant and dogged beyond anything I can imagine uh investigative reporter Couldn't Write to save his life he kept trying to WR kept trying to persuade me to write a book with him and I would say Wayne I love you dearly and we'll kill each other if we do a book together but he um nobody could outre report he was the best he was the best single reporter in New York City for 40 years and Wayne got on to Trump in the 70s I came along 10 years later and everything in between except for Wayne was uh you know hagiography praising coverage of trump um and Wayne had this this this great observation that every time Trump makes a deal he can't just make a deal he has to somehow Put The Knife into your wallet and Wayne called that moral Larsen and I I think that very well captured at which way I use it this is the piece uh my best friend David crook wrote the headline for We Told You So exclamation mark and the the lead I wrote was Donald Trump is a felon I've waited 36 years to write that lead ever since I became the first journalist to uh talk about Donald Trump becoming president of the United States because when I wrote that article in uh 1988 July of 1988 I thought to myself my God this guy is a criminal and he might get to the White House someday and what a horror that would be for the world well you did actually forecast his conviction here before we have another very distinguished legal IST who comes in on Thursdays who actually pivoted said I don't think he'll be found guilty I think they'll convict on the memers but they won't actually put it on the misers of course don't matter because of statute of limitations Etc but then he pivoted to your position which is that he'll be found guilty but you were the first one to come forward you once you'd seen the case you didn't just State this uh reflexively um but you're on to as you say uh the master con artist becoming American president you those are your words from this piece you were on to that early and but again you point out all of these different things and you even point out in this piece and again we'll link to it in this video um you point out how he tried to co-opt you Trump tried to co-opt you and I smarted him um I had lunch one day with Donald at Trump's Castle his one of his casinos and during lunch um we both ordered staks his looked like uh you know dried shoed leather and mine was was uh deliberately ordered rare I usually have medium rare because I know that it upsets Donald to see anything that looks like a rare stake and I wanted to capture his reaction to this and and listen that's what journalists do I mean you know you um I I once sent a journalism student to interview the owner of the Santa Cruz newspaper about all the things they were hiding from the the viewers and I just told her pay attention to how you dress and so she uh dressed in a way that got this guy's mind going and just confessed every sin they had committed wow uh and she was by the way perfectly appropriately dressed but it was in a way that you know old man um uh stopped thinking with his his brain sure and so well Donald got a phone call and so he left and I called the waiter over to tell him you know make sure that you Bill me for give me a bill he said Don Donald won't do that and I said I have to pay you and he said wait till he leaves and then I paid for my lunch well my son Andrew wanted to come along because he wanted to meet Trump he was 17 then my middle son and Donald comes back we have lunch uh Donald told me Andy tells me he shook Trump's hand two days later a messenger arrives at my home with a framed picture of Andy and Donald in which he's written uh Andy your father's a great man or you have a great father something like that with his Sharpie pen and I immediately realized Trump would use this to get me me taken off coverage of him he would say that I said if you don't do this and sign this what I tell you to say um I'm going to write bad stories about you and Trump thought he had me and I know from some one of his Executives he boasted to him he he figured out how to get rid of me so what we did at the Philadelphia in choir is um I sent the uh uh Casino a check for $175 for the photo and they sent it back by messenger so then we gave $175 in Donald Trump's name to a uh charity that feeds people you know one of these Food Bank Charities and sent Donald uh with he had to sign to get the mail certified mail to New York and a copy to the casino that um we had made this gift uh to cover the cost of the photograph and of course that completely took it yeah you got Andy's picture up there it completely took that away from Donald we out we outsmarted him but he got rid of a Wall Street Journal reporter ended his career as a journalist through one of these little tricks like this and so when I would go see Donald I would never take anything except a glass of water or a cup of coffee because those are gratuit those those are are pleasantries they're not payoffs sure you know he when we had lunch you know I insisted I had to pay for it I had to wait till he left and then I paid for my lunch and had a receip and by the way the inquir was very nice they let me uh because even though it was my son who kind of screwed up here he got a really long talking too about it uh they let me his son your son screwed up in in taking a picture with him you mean or yeah yeah I I had told him he knew enough that Donald was Troublesome I this was kind of sophisticated for him but in any event The Inquirer let me put the 175 on my expense account which was very nice they didn't have to do that well you talk about uh news coverage and you obviously adhere to sort of a very serious code of investigated journalist ISM but you talk about news coverage moving forward you know how Trump has been covered and there are certain conventions of coverage that Donald Trump has been able to take advantage of there's certain kind of norms that just don't exist anymore and that's one of the reasons you started DC report because yeah so here's the core problem most journalism as I said earlier in the show is an accurate recounting of the official version of events I'm in The Unofficial version of events business uh you need both but the conventions of Journalism particularly political journalism do not take into account a con artist so you can have somebody with odious views um uh you know STM Thurman before he claimed to no longer be a racist or Governor Wallace and they get covered well and thoughtfully because they fall within the parameters of well this person is a legitimate promoter of a point of view and journalism can deal very well with that you can be a far outley revolutionary a maist you can be a a super right-wing genghiskhan character and journalism can deal with that but it's not equipped to deal with a con artist and there's a very tiny segment of us even within investigative reporters who have the experience and the skill and the knowledge to deal with con artists post in as politicians and that's what Donald Trump is doing you know he he doesn't know anything but power and self-aggrandisement and money and he himself declares openly I'm going to be a dictator for just for the first day and news organizations then treat that like oh that was you know it's a it's a joke no it's not a joke he's telling you what he's going to do and Donald understands how to manipulate those constraints and how to play the game on his behalf and uh good example by the way is I was on somebody else's show yesterday and the person said well Trump had this press conference and I said when stop he did not have a press conference he came out and made a statement a press conference implies that you ask questions you take questions from the journalists and yet I see every day you know Trump's holding a press conference no he's not so it it this is a real core problem and I I don't think that we've been perfect about it at DC report you know trying to figure out how to do it but we've done a lot better than most people even today uh by that I mean the current weeks Peter Baker This brilliant White House specialist at the New York Times he used to be at the Washington Post he's the greatest living journalistic Authority on the presidency he had a piece the other day that my fellow former New York Times people have been ripping apart because in the piece he treats Donald Trump like he's just a politician with these peculiar views not he's a criminal he's a con artist and I if Peter Baker can't get it right he's the Top Dog in White House coverage Far and Away if Peter Baker and his wife who also does the same thing for the New Yorker can't get it right there's not much hope for the rest of us and it the and the conventions have served the public well so the problem is you need to expand Beyond them and unfortunately news organizations are incredibly conservative in terms of how they operate and the rules they work under and and behavior they're very resistant to change much more so than a lot of businesses and all businesses are inherently conservative about what they're doing sure uh I'd love to talk to you about what's happening next time we'll talk about what's happening at the Washington Post it's a serious serious problem there they've got real real problems but I really the new editor is himself a guy who's done very bad things things that he could have gone to prison for I mean and so we should be very concerned and worried about what's going to happen there at the Washington Post um you know and that so many people with great access and great takes work there at that paper and uh now yeah as I say real real problems uh last thing David really this is the truly last thing uh this is a guy in Donald Trump who hundreds of millions of dollars now um under having to settle these Court judgments and penalties for many of these things to which you referred uh what is the future for him well Donald's future is endless litigation until he dies and even though he doesn't exercise and eats a terrible diet his parents lived into their 90s so you can certainly expect he'll live into his 80s he is not in good health uh my little fantasy belief is if if we do have a debate and I don't believe Trump will show up that Biden drops to the floor and does one arm push-ups and then and then says to Donald when he gets up Donald you you can use both hands because Trump wouldn't be able to do push-ups um he faces endless litigation he eventually will end up bankrupt because what he has is this house of cards I mean you know how many billionaires do you know who go around trying to Hawk vodka and bibles and Gold tennis shoes uh and furthermore are constantly asking for donations especially when Trump said in 2015 I'm so rich I don't need any donations I'm not going to take money from anybody and now he's begging and I do mean begging if you get his emails as I do they beg for money and because it's always been a facade he's he's not poor I don't want to mislead people he is a wealthy man but you know he's in the hundred million class and as two multi-billionaires who are well-known public figures uh told me when I interviewed them about this if you can spend $20 million a year that much cash spend it you can absolutely fake being a billionaire well that's Donald that's he just fakes it well as to the begging I mean he just made essentially a deal with uh the big with big oil the CEOs of of of fossil fuel companies right and and other CEOs one there was one fundraiser he made where he essentially uh made the deal you guys write the legislation and I'll let you you know drill baby drill I I think arguably what Trump said in that meeting meets the much higher standard our Supreme Court has said for bribery and extortion when Governor McDonald of Virginia and his wife received you know $50,000 watches they got to use a $400,000 sports car uh shopping spree and everything else the Supreme Court threw out the conviction on the grounds that there was no direct quid pro quote they wasn't you signed this piece of legislation in return for these gifts it was just the governor broadly helping this company get favors from the legislature and this and the bureaucracy in the state if Trump literally said uh give me a billion dollars and you guys can write whatever legislation you want and he has said publicly he will get rid of the um education department the Interior Department and uh most of the Environmental Protection Agency I think those are chargeable crimes uh because those are quid pro quo under the standard and and this let be very clear the Supreme Court has basically legalized bribery for anybody who isn't stupid enough to announce a quid pro quot as long as you don't say give me the money and I'll do this for this specific act the Supreme Court says that's not a crime well Trump just did this just happened a couple of weeks ago in Houston yeah with oil Executives and he said and the complaint was from the uh CEO of accidental petroleum that the merger was taking too long and he said put me in office give me a couple of months and I'll okay it don't worry don't even worry about it give me the money and that's that is that is a quid proquo because he asked for money and um of course if he becomes president he won't be prosecuted for anything and he'll probably test out his belief that that he can order his opponents killed um uh wow that's a that's a chilling thought but it's all chilling TR trust me dictatorship ultimately leads to firing squads and it may take a little time it may take a long time but it is inevitable result of any D look around the world at the dictatorships we know about going back 200 years they firing squads and if he acts quickly you know I will not be one bit surprised if I'm one of the people who gets lined up and oh my God gee that's why it matters that he doesn't get to the White House yeah among other reasons I mean your forecast has been fairly accurate and you don't think he'll get to the White House I've only missed over out of all the things I brought up Mark I've only missed one and it will come true eventually I said that he might file a strategic bankruptcy to delay the Civil judgments against him uh he managed to get bonds so he didn't have to got bonded so he didn't have to do that but the day will come when Donald will absolutely have to file bankruptcy unless he gets back to the White House and then you know but again you but to reiterate you don't think he'll get back to the White House I think it is highly unlikely he will lose the popular vote by a minimum of 10 million votes but he only has to win six states that are in play right and the Democrats have a long history of uh snatching defeat from the jaws of Victory uh to win all the Democrat rats have to do is have a powerful ground game in those Six States now there's a story in the New York Times and apparently it's been replicated elsewhere that leaders of the European Union countries believe Trump will be back in the white house uh they believe that will unleash Putin to begin trying to conquer all of Europe uh what I've talked about in the show is 50 years of warfare trying to stop the Russians from taking over the rest of Europe and so they're planning for that well is a contingency that makes sense I think it is not likely Trump will get there but if people don't act like this is the most terrifying thing in their lives as they should complacency that will put Trump back in the White House you got to register to vote and you got to turn out the vote that's what happens at elections at the end of the day is who votes David thank you for your time love your piece we'll link to it uh the DC report piece really summarizes so much of the stock and strategy of Donald Trump and uh I enjoy our talks I look for next week see you next week okay Deb K Johnson everybody yeah ladies and gentlemen I'm Shadow Stevens this is the Mark Thompson show keep it to [Music] yourself this is Mark Thompson love our talks with David that was a good one uh next week we'll get into that wash Washton post situation it is a house on fire the Washington Post right now from a journalistic standpoint real trouble so uh again we'll we'll visit that I also want to talk obviously we talked to David about Trump and everything that's going to happen between now and then uh Kim's news is next I'm looking forward to getting some uh updates on uh what is happening in the World At Large smash the like button like a boss with your iron rod do it like something's at stake smash it with your iron Rod helps us in the algorithms of YouTube If you haven't please subscribe to the show hit the notification Bell and you'll know we've got some special videos that won't be part of the main show coming in the months ahead so all of that uh you'll get notified about if you hit the notification bell all right Kim's news and we continue Mark Thompson show The Mark Thompson show Kim's News on the Mark Thompson show I'm Kim mallister and this report is sponsored by you that's right you President Biden says he's doing what Congress wouldn't do after signing an executive order to limit the flow of migrants at the US Mexico border in remarks from the White House President Biden accused Republicans of sinking the bipartisan border bill on behalf of Donald Trump says wants to exploit the issue ahead of the election yeah the order prohibits migrants who cross the US Mexico border illegally from requesting Asylum once the number of daily encounters tops 2500 between the official ports of Entry parts of the Southern Us in the grips of a dangerous Heat Wave we've got California Arizona and Southern Nevada all possible seeing uh possibly seeing record setting temperatures Texas may see record highs today in different parts of the state including San Antonio an excessive heat warning is in effect today for California's Central Valley temperatures possibly up to 108 Wednesday temperatures in Las Vegas could hit 109 while Phoenix could see a record of 110 hot hot the city of Los Angeles is investigating reports of Home Depo planting or bolting Planters to the street to deter homeless people from parking RVs the steel tub style Planters can be seen along Coral or Coral Tree Place in P Vista that's become a well-known spot for RV dwellers to park and stay a homeless Advocate confronted two Home Depot employees as they were securing the tubs in the street and asked if they had permits to do it the employees reportedly said they had permission from the city so we we've seen this before with uh oh yeah with the big locks that they put in yeah even in San Francisco with these same kind of steel tub Planters or Landscaping to try to make it so there's no room for the homeless people to either set up tents or RVs in the area yeah they had huge in parts of San Francisco huge rocks I mean immense rocks that they put there you couldn't possibly move them and they put them behind that one you know some gorgeous Victorian that you know had been commandeered by on the outside by a homeless community and that was designed to you know get rid of those people who had been associated with the crime that had gone up in the area and also drug dealing open drug dealing I remember that story there's a bomb threat in the San waen County Courthouse in Stockton today whole thing led to an evacuation the sanen County Sheriff's Office reported a man entered the courthouse today allegedly claiming to have a bomb deputies apprehended him they are currently conducting a search the facility uh was under temporary lockdown for a time so that was quite a to-do in baseball Shai otani's former interpreter pleaded guilty Tuesday morning to charges that could land him in prison for years that's the maximum epe mizuhara was in an Orange County California courtroom to essentially admit that he stole nearly $17 million from the Los Angeles Dodger Superstar to pay down his Sports gambling debt sentencing set for October 25th and mizuhara was released on $25,000 Bond not looking good for him astounding to me that this happened and that muhara was able to steal over $17 million isn't that what that's right he's admitted to it you're stealing I mean I don't care how much money you have that's a lot of dough to get out the door and not know about but look there have been multiple investigations and the feds have investigated alongside Major League Baseball and all the rest and apparently he got away with it I he did do it somehow I just don't know how you that much money doesn't raise a red flag how how they wouldn't have figured out that something was a a Miss yeah you know it's truly puzzling to me I don't understand it m uh we'll talk about let's talk about the beagles because this is kind of a disturbing story there's a beagle breeding company in Virginia beagles like the dogs uh they're agreeing to pay a record $35 million after pleading guilty to neglecting the dogs and Vigo RMS pleading guilty to neglecting thousands of beagles living in dirty cages at a plant they had going in Cumberland County Prosecutors say the penalties amount to the largest ever in an animal welfare case the company also agreed to give up 4,000 beagles at that facility I'm sure they'll be trying to give them Medical Care and then adopt them out so look sorry this is something I feel very strongly about and you know how I feel about animals used in almost anything I that I can think of uh but let's just forget about everything that I have an issue with and just talk about animal an in experimentation of All Sorts um animals are used gratuitously in experimentation meaning to say that the experiments on animals don't shed any light or additional information uh along the lines of helping along whatever research is going on we say well if they don't animals don't help in in animal research why do they use them in animal research because of money it is Big Business the sale of these animals to these Labs the then running of the experiments everybody's making money along the way but don't take my word for it if you actually look you can see that in the green lighting of drugs and pharmaceuticals that are tested on animals the FDA which is not in my judgment like the greatest most pristine organization when it comes to a lot of decision-making and green lights they've given but they are a gatekeeper they don't accept the animal testing as any kind of statement of efficacy or safety when it comes to okaying drugs for the human population and so to me it makes the unethical immoral and grotesque use of these creatures even more grotesque I'll wrap up just by saying they use beagles because beagles are docile already they tend to be very friendly dosel dogs and they breed them to be even more friendly and doel and so when you think about it that way it's a it's an awful reflection of who we are as a species it's disgusting and I'm glad you did the story so thank you have you ever heard of something called magnet fishing uh is that where they dredge the they I'm sorry maybe go ahead you tell me what it is so I guess you take a magnet and you kind of throw it in water and you see what attracts to it right this couple says they pulled up a safe containing $100,000 in cash while they were magnet fish in New York City Park there's never been anything like this no joke James Kane and Barbie agustini of Queens pulled out an old safe from the lake in Corona Park Friday afternoon the couple Pride the safe open found the cash wrapped in plastic inside which was unfortunately ruined by the water Kane no is a veteran magnet fisherman he said he and agustini had found several safes in the past most of which were empty or had some plastic bags holding smaller amounts of cash there it is yeah Kane and agustini were allowed to keep the suspected stolen safe as there was no way of identifying the previous owner oh my God it was great I loved it that is truly terrific $100,000 magnet fishing I didn't know it was a thing I'm going to have to find out more about magnet fishing what's down there my luck I pull up like old hammers you know a wrench yeah that is terrific wow imagine that I mean that's got to be a big find even for the regular magnet Fisher people morning you know what I mean that's like whoa wait a minute you can take damaged money to the bank and they'll replace it right that's what I thought I was it's funny you said that I was thinking I I think that money is still good yeah I think so too yeah but um don't know I mean maybe um I guess not otherwise they would have reported that right don't you just wonder like whose money was it and was it dirty money and what like what happened why they throw the safe in the lake what the what crime was involved the mystery of bounds yeah man this is you ever see the um I've talked about this before but I recommend this movie called A Simple Plan they discover there's a plane that crashes in a rural community in the mountains of a rural community and it's discovered by these people who are you know hiking in the snow and there it is wow Tony is so damn good fast I know um it's got Bill Paxton Billy Bob Thorton and Bridget Fonda they discover this money it's just like Kim's story that she just did and it's a ton of money and they grab it they leave the plane behind and everything and it's like don't tell anybody about it don't mention this don't spend the money we're going to split it up between us whatever you do let's just keep it quiet and we'll slowly integrate this money into our lives over like the next couple of years but we you know we can't spend it because it's a small town and if you all of a sudden show up in a Porsche you know it'll right it'll be that right so that was the plan in other words A Simple Plan well I don't need to tell you it all goes sideways and it's terrific I really recommend this movie a simple plan but it's exactly like what Kim is saying like yeah you know is that money associated with some you know drug dealer dealers money or where did that money come from why was that safe thrown in the lake like these are the questions like why would that why did that plane have all that cash in there was that a drug dealers plane Who's involved and man it becomes a great yarn you'll like it a simple plan this seems like you know the magnet whole magnet fishing with the scene right here this seems like the opening scene of a movie as well it you're absolutely right they pull up the safe they crack it open tell us about the scene here comes the story there's a safe with in it Larry what can you tell us about the scene and that's only the beginning of the movie Larry what can you tell us about the scene wow something else coming to the screen the small screen Alec Baldwin and his wife Hilaria and their seven kids they had a reality TV the actor oh my God that's just so per it had to be it had to be the actor announced on social media the Baldwins will be debuting on TLC in 2025 God in a home video Baldwin says we're inviting you into our home to experience the ups and downs the good the bad the Wild and the crazy Alec who is 66 years old has been married to Hilaria since June isia her name is Hilaria Hilaria Hilaria am I saying it wrong Hilaria you're saying it right she likes to speak and I guess she you know she studied overseas for a while remember she had that whole thing going eladia sounds better than Hilaria cuia sounds like I was going to say hilarious and stopped short yeah yeah yeah I wonder if she's funny well I'll tell you um they in a way already live out loud you know there's a lot of what they do that they post on Instagram and she's very active on Instagram he's very active I you know I like how he addresses camera and some of his takes on things but I imagine that he'll have Final Cut on this if you actually put a camera there and he doesn't have Final Cut and it exposes a lot of you know hey man if you've got seven kids there's a lot going on in that house it's tough to maintain a solid mood it makes me tired just looking at that somebody always in a bad mood if you have someone needs something but you know what they probably have like a team of 50 nannies so it's okay maybe yeah that look I'll I'll I'll tune in I'll see it I have a problem with that though putting your kids in the public eye when you're already a celebrity or even if you're not you know your kids don't really have a say so here and here you are splashing their childhoods in front of everyone and we know that that can lead to kids feeling badly drug abuse it seems like I don't know it seems like kids that grow up in the public eye like this inevitably have an issue well you know baldman himself grew up in the public gue right the Baldwin brothers were all of you know he's the one who was sort of viewed as the massive success but uh I think they're kind of used to being in the public eye but you're right these are very young kids growing up in the public eye I don't know you you do point out something and then we can move on which is ironic it's ironic that Alec Baldwin is someone who has gained some Fame along the way outside of the professional work he's done for pushing back on photographers that he feels have sort of hounded him and his family through the years right he's literally you know struck out at photographers for not giving him his privacy so it's a bit ironic and Rich that he would now start a reality show which essentially brings the cameras inside the home yeah it's weird I don't know why he would want to do this if he's asking for privacy and then turning around and doing the exact opposite doesn't make sense this report is sponsored by you we rely on you to help keep this show rolling the show is don't have any Al Baldwin drops Tony why don't we have any Alex Baldwin drops or a Trevor star in the Hollywood get us some Alec Baldwin drops yeah yeah anyway sorry go ahead we do rely on on on you we do we do rely on you please find us at theark Thompson show.com it is thear that what up everybody it is exciting to have you all here it is true uh I'm just looking to see in the chat we had the story about Alec Baldwin and it is noted that uh many of the kids have I guess or some of the kids have Latino um names or something is that is that right I don't know why that's I don't know what their children's names are Google it I don't know what the children yeah exactly you could probably Google it and it says although Mama day three boys asks wasn't there a controversy about the wife I think Hilaria isn't even her real name she just pretends to be Spanish oh wow that is extraordinary what yeah um the uh Alec does have a great speaking voice I must say says Julie yeah he does oh my God he does a lot of VoiceOver stuff and um um of course he'll be speaking in the witness box at his um that awful trial that has to get underway with you know what happened um there was I don't think anybody had a an issue with the way they named their kids I don't I I didn't ever hear that I mean who cares how they named their kid I me my God she got outed for using a fake Spanish accent said de oh okay um interesting uh Trevor Maxon a 10 spot thank you for a Super Chat Trevor shout out I like presidential candidates who are felons from the grave of John McCain I see what you did very good Trev very good uh Doug Co says five bucks throw it into the shout out tip jar thank you Doug thank you for the $5 super sticker really does help you know we're a crowdfunded show show so we try to make a big deal out of the part of the crowd that funds us and um it is a real Delight to do the show but the only reason we're here is because of the donors and as Ricky says love the donors we do love them uh oh yeah uh he does a podcast called here's the thing thank you Thomas still podcasting here's the thing we should have him on our podcast yeah he sounds like this I'm Alec Baldwin and this is here's the thing a little bit like that not quite as new yorky maybe hello I'm Alec Baldwin and this is here's the thing he sounds a lot like that um that's my here's the thing Alec Baldwin intro you go ahead put what I just did up against Alec it's pretty close it's pretty close and that's without rehearsal um will we experience Alec if he goes to prison wow Vilma asks man it's a crowd that's rough um yeah I did want to speak just speak better than shety balls never anything a better SK yeah signature uh signature sketch on SNL he did a pretty good Trump impersonation too for did great one great one really really great although the guy they have now is just terrific um joh what is his name John Austin um what's his name Tony Google it's um some James Austin something James Austin anybody James Austin Google it I'm not going to Google it I'm asking um anyway Saturday Night Live performer with Trump impression James Aus Johnson thank you Murphy Rowan I love it Murphy's a fast googler yeah thank you murf nicely done um all right guys I have one thank you Sandy yes James Austin Johnson um James Austin Powers okay all right I listen I'll clear this courtroom I'd like to ask for a recess I'd like to share with you and it was inspired by Kim's story about the safe that was discovered by the magnet fisherman I wanted to share with you a story from the annals of uh the cops it just happened and I was sitting on this story couldn't get to it yesterday it actually does fall into the category of Law and disorder if you would Tony favor me this is Law and disorder in the criminal justice system the people pimps Cleaners find 235 pounds of meth at Airbnb, then U-Haul arrives for pickup addicts thieves bums Whos girls who can't keep an address and men who don't care are represented by two separate and equally important groups a cop a flat foot a bull a dick John Law you're the the fuzz the heat your poison your trouble your bad news these are their [Music] stories it's an Airbnb residence in alhamra California the cleaning crew arrives as they always do they find 235 lbs of if you guessed meth well done there it is Tony has it up for you now you can see it there that's what 235 lbs of meth looks like that's quite a party right there Then officers arrive and they discover the box is full of the drugs they arrive at the scene and cops say they saw a U-Haul Van returning to the location oops we left something behind uh what can you tell us about the scene looks like people have left something behind Larry you know you see the the cops in the driveway you just keep rolling without that U-Haul Van just keep going it's funny you say that because police say the van quickly in their words made a uturn right quote thinking they would get away uhoh but two people were later arrested on suspicion of transporting narcotics the U criminal activity has no place on Airbnb said the Airbnb spokesperson there is more bad stuff that goes down at Airbnb beeds than any other crew our team is working closely with the host to provide support as we stand ready to assist the cops with their investigation but uh the meth was confiscated and uh that's the end of the situation there at Airbnb the only thing I would say is imagine having 235 pounds of Meth and forgetting it when you leave the Airbnb I mean how high do you have to be they say don't get high on your own Supply and I got to tell you man when you leave that kind of Hall behind something weird was going on that's law and disorder tune in again next time for more law and disorder on the Mark Thompson show all right that's it let's roll hey let's be careful out there I want to stay I want to stay I really do I had one more story for you yeah well do it quickly it's I can't yeah it's about baseball betting well what is the essence of I can do it party over it's okay oh my God I'll hold it for tomorrow we've never done this before but if it's that good I'll stop I'll stop the uh I'll stop the roll I think you should no it's not it's not bre news stop the roll all right go ahead this guy Oakland a uh he is caught up in this betting Scandal and I just saw a story pop up on SFGate his name is Michael Kelly he's an Oakland A's reliever wow he made a few baseball bets totaling less than a hundred bucks and they say it's going to cost him more than 7,500 times that amount less than $100 so so he'll be he'll banned for life won't he mhm Zero Tolerance yeah no no just for just for a year just for a year not for life I thought he bet on baseball he did I don't know if he bet on baseball but he was a he was a minor Leaguer in the Houston Astros organization this is before he was in Oakland A and he put 10 baseball bets down in October of 2021 he didn't appear in any of the games he bet on the league noted there was no evidence to suggest the games were compromised in any way the total amount of money Kenny wagered or Kelly wagered came to just $992 he won $23.30 from his bets but the bets will cost him because he was set to make $750,000 this season and no he's got a year suspension now because of these bet this bet that he did and he was not appealing the League's discipline and won't be be eligible to return to the mound for the a until June of 2025 wow uh Shadow producer Calvin W says that he did it before he went pro right he was a minor Leaguer at the time so yeah minor league is still Pro I don't know I mean so wow talk about you know really getting slapped hard I mean that was not worth it monetarily it wasn't worth it but that's just embarrassing yeah of course yeah I mean it's really I mean you know what a dumb thing to do I'm glad you stopped the show for that it actually was good yeah I have to tell you honestly that I thought it's very unlikely that whatever story Kim wants to stop The Showdown for is going to measure up to the threshold that's required to stop The Showdown and yet you did step up and it did meet the threshold and I for that reason applaud you along with everyone else here yeah well done uh the Afterparty live is what follows us at Kim does her own little offbeat show it's called the Afterparty live we'll do it live I can I'll write it and we'll do it live you can find it on the Afterparty live Channel why can't we punish Trump like that says boo and a big shout out to Bo thank you for the $2 Super Chat thanks everybody tomorrow I'm Shadow Stevens for the
