This wasn't the only big time match up this weekend. The I 35 showdown between Texas State and UTS A took place in San Marcus. Our Ann Parker Coleman had a front row seat to that sold out rivalry. Here's her recap on the Bobcats historic day. Normally, the I 35 rivalry can be measured in just 53 miles that separate SA from Texas State tonight. That rivalry isn't measured in distance, but in points, 39 points to be exact and more importantly, bragging rights, bragging rights that Texas State now holds over sa for the first time in this series history. So let's go ahead and get into those highlights and show you what exactly went down here in San Marcos Bobcats. And how about this for a dinner menu? We got road kill or should I say road runner for dinner tonight, UTS A at Texas State and we are here in the first quarter. Is Jordan mcleod finds Chris John Junior there going to burn out a 60 yard run. He's going to dive into the end zone thinking that's a touchdown. No, sir. That is a ball on the two yard line. But it doesn't matter, just head off to QB one as he sneaks into the end zone for that two yard rushing TD his second of the, and it's Deion Hankins who bullies his way into the end zone 28 to 3 headed into the locker room. Second half, we go, Eddie Lee Marberger, new quarterback under center, same result dominance from the Bobcats here is Bobby Cosby comes up with the pick that is going to put the Bobcats in the red zone once again and Jordan mcleod going to toss this absolute dime into the back of the end zone to find Don Jr again for another touchdown. I 35 trophy is coming home to say Marcus for the first time in program history. 49 to 10. The final ask anyone who's walking into this sold out game and they would have said this game comes down to the wire and said Texas State was absolutely dominant, which is ironic because that's what this rivalry has been to this program for the past year. It has dominated that locker room when coach Kinney first came in, he brought in this motto of take back Texas and it's more than just a motto that goes on T shirts and flags. It is a mindset and a goal that they filter every decision through in this program. And today, finally, for the first time in program history, they can say they have taken back Texas a lot of decisions went in to tonight. It, it wasn't just, uh, what you saw out there. These coaches have been grinding on UTS A for a really long time and, and really every recruiting move we made, um, every personnel decision we made was, hey, does this allow us to be UTS A? Obviously, this is huge for us, um, to be able to get that hold that trophy for the first time. Um It was special to see some of the guys especially that's been here for a while. So that was really special. I'm glad we came and accomplished that for ourselves. And, uh the people on the outside that we got the, you know, it's no longer UTS A, they're talking about us now that I 35 trophy will not live in San Marcus for the next year, but as for the next week, well, the Bobcats welcome in an even bigger foe. Arizona State comes into town on Thursday night for UTS A. They hit the road once again up to Austin to take on Texas.
