Did the AFL Get It Right? Reacting to the 2024 All-Australian Team

hey everyone welcome to discovering with Kevin I'm [Music] Kevin so I've been digging deeper and deeper into Aussie Rules Football and I found out today about the 20204 all Australian team and well I wanted to discuss it with all of you this is my first time learning about this so please leave some insight in the comments uh before we get started however if you haven't already please like the video subscribe to the channel and of course hit the notification Bell so you don't miss out on any of our future videos um yeah as somebody who's really just kind of diving into the world of Azie Rose football everything about this sport is new and exciting for me and I'm well I'm learning as I go and there's so much to take in there really really is as you know from my previous videos uh I'm going to be barracking for the Sydney Swans during the finals this year and I really can't wait to see what some of their players um uh you know make the list if any of them I'm assuming I think I just kind of like glanced through the Australian team so I'm kind of excited to see how many Sydney Swans players uh make that list um it's going to be awesome uh to get to know the team better of course and uh as always to to to see what makes him stand out um so yeah without further Ado let's just take a look together at who made the cut so this is from afl.com 2024 for all Australian team and uh yeah there's there's Marcus is it Bonelli Bonelli I think that's how you pronounce that anyways uh first off it's great to see uh some new faces um getting recognized this year um from reading this a little bit uh it's pretty cool uh really showcased the depth of uh of talent in the AFL um right now so I'm I'm told it's an exciting time to be an AFL fan uh so I'm glad I'm kind of jumping in right now uh someone mentioned in the comments of one of my videos actually my last video that um uh this might this is the first time when all eight teams in the finals it can go to any one of those eight teams the Grand Final the championship so that's super exciting as well I can't wait to see what happens really hope my swans make it though because as I mentioned before I don't get to cheer that much for uh for a lot of my teams that I I I cheer for uh here in North America they don't really make it that far so hopefully my curse doesn't pour over to Sydney Swans if it does I'm sorry I guess um but yeah so the uh the all Australian selection panel which included uh some big names like Eddie Betts and Nathan Buckley definitely definitely seems to have had the work cut out from them um from what I've been reading uh speaking of big names hey look Max gone uh the man just added his 17th all Australian Blazer that puts him in Elite company apparently only 10 players in AFL history have achieved this uh he's now up there with the likes of Legends Gary abet senior and Gary abet Jr as well as Lance Franklin which I think is pretty freaking impressive uh we scroll down we've got another uh highlight uh being Marcus bum pelli is it bum pelli is that how that's pronounced um being named captain of the all Australian team this is sixth time being named and all Australian but his first as a captain which seems pretty cool um of course seems to be a well-deserved honor for the Western Bulldog star uh Patrick Crips uh from Carlton is his Vice Captain which is uh which is kind of cool we can see the picture here of uh of all the players um which I think is pretty neat uh but yeah it's it's fourth time on the team for uh for Crips and uh long uh strong leadership Duo uh of course now we took a look at six players from the 2023 all Australian team uh that have retained their spots we've got Daniel hoston uh eroll golden Marcus monelli nick uh is daos I think that's pronounced Caleb sirang and Zack Butters these guys have given or proven themselves to be consistent top performers and it's great to see their hard work paying off again now I look at this sign here uh this picture here and uh it's pretty cool we've got um what do we see we've got Nick Blakey here from the Sydney Swans cool uh again I'm just I'm still learning these players so it's pretty neat uh eroll of course uh here as well ero golden uh Sydney Swans that's kind of cool um Isaac Heeney the Sydney Swans and Chad Warner also of the Sydney Swan so yeah there's a there's a few there that's one two three four Sydney Swans players that are that are in there so that's kind of that's kind of neat uh but now we talk about some of the debutants let's look we've got Nick Blakey from the Sydney Swans finally made it after being in the squad last year uh his stats are solid 23 matches with an average of 21.3 disposals and nearly six rebound uh 50s per game uh then there's uh Jacob is it wiering I think is his name from Carlton uh who's been on the brink for years making the squad on 2020 2021 2022 and 2023 finally breaking through this year uh his defensive work has been topnotch so congratulations uh to them the forward line feature some Heavy Hitters we've got uh Jesse uh Hogan from the wws Giants who I know are going to be playing against the Swans in the first round um go swans beat the Giants uh he had a stand SE season with 69 goals earning him his first a all Australian Blazer how about Jeremy Cameron from the gilong cats no there's a few gilong supporters uh in fact in my Discord I have at least one or two gilong supporters don't forget to check out the Discord by the way Link in the description uh with 58 goals this season he's a uh constant threat up front and it's no surprise that he made it as well oh just going to stay in this picture right here I think cuz this kind of shows everyone here we go right there there we go uh of course Max Gan leads the rucks uh his seventh Blazer isn't just a testament to his consistency but also his dominance in his position he averages 34 hit outs per game and from what I gathered that's pretty insane uh of course Patrick Crips also shines as a mfield Powerhouse proving vital for Carlton's play and then the interchanges see a mix of familiar faces and some first- timers locky Whitfield from gws Giants makes his return since 2018 bringing his high disposal efficiency of over 80% locky Neil from Brisbane Lions a regular in these discussions also features maintaining uh also features this of course maintaining his Elite Performance levels so did the AFL get it right with this 2024 all Australian team uh well with so many deserving players and only 22 spots of available there's always going to be debates and opinions but overall this team looks pretty solid based on those stats I'm seeing representing a good mix of season stars and some fresh Talent looks pretty awesome I don't know maybe I'm wrong maybe some of you are going no this player deserved it better that one deserved it better I don't know I want to know what do you think do you think the AFL got it right were there any glaring omissions or surprise inclusions let me know your thoughts in the comments below help me understand the sport better help me get a better grasp of of all of this I'm really learning and this looks really freaking cool to me I love this whole all Australian team uh and how that's done up it really highlights the skill and I'm um of course it's it's an honor uh for these athletes to make it to that position so that's really cool um let me know in the comments what your thoughts are on this year's all Australian team this is just a short video to catch you all up on that and uh to help you uh help me uh
