uh welcome back demon fans the first half now done and dusted i get the feeling we might be in for a decent match in the second half what do you reckon joined now by two of the leaders of the melbourne football club our president kate roffey and our ceo gary perth ladies and gentlemen a round of applause for them kate i'm going to start with you what's life been like since that grand final uh look it's been extraordinary you i get stopped in the street all the time people ask for selfies and can we have a photo they're so excited but like how good is this people how good is this other club would get this many people to turn up and watch a replay of your grand final what are you most proud of today i think it's the maturity of our club i mean it takes a long time to win a premiership but we've matured on the field we've matured off the field our supporters who have stuck with us for so long purdy and i say we've lost a whole heap of supporters and they are the long-suffering demon supporters they are gone now we are just supporters now who look forward to an astonishing future with our afl men and our afl women i mean they are i'm going out there to win more premiership cups for this club it's so exciting have you got a favorite moment from the grand final uh my favorite moment was really for me what turned the game and i was sitting with gary purd and gary lyon watching and it was when track kicked his goal not because the goal but if you watch cozzie picket lay the bump that allows track to kick it but then i looked at it and went there switched on now and i leaned over to gary line and said this will be like jadon gaz and surely it was and it was we'll see the second half very shortly gary pert uh congratulations to you and your leadership team on everything you've done i mean there aren't too many clubs that could get 35 000 plus thousand fans at the mcg to celebrate a premiership when there's actually no footy being played albeit on the big screen well clint this is magnificent this is about the reconnection of the club we went over to perth and we went to get a job done we went over there to win the finals make a grand final win a premiership and bring the cup back home for the supporters and we did that but without being able to share it with everyone it really did feel hollow to a point and so i think this is magnificent we all get together today but don't underestimate also for the players and coaches how important this is for them when they're in perth celebrating they all talked about the fact they want to be back at the mcg with the supporters so make sure you let them hear it when they come out later on because i think there's a very good chance we're behind at the moment but i really think we're going to win this one the future is bright gary is that fair to say the future is bright for the melbourne footy club oh look i think the the future's very exciting when we've got the support is just so up and about we look at the young player list we know they're going to be performing well for the next four five six years but we really need to grow we want to be back here at the mcg every time we play a home ground in front of 50 60 80 000 people this is our chance now a platform where we really grow the club and i think everyone's excited about that and i i just hope everyone has a great day together everything we've done today is about trying to create memories that you'll carry with you for the rest of your life as a mad demon supporter gary kate congratulations and thank you ladies and gentlemen [Applause]
