out of your cell phone battery consider shallow charging instead of draining your battery to zero recharge at 50% when you charge it up stop at about 90% once a month you should run it down to 5% and recharge so it can recalibrate its self assessment when charging is done remove your phone from the charger Electronics will age faster if they're left plugged in when fully charged I'm Steve noell that's my two cents spend it wisely hey I'm Heather Sullivan with Sullivan smartsense to help you cut your impulse spending remove your credit card information from the retail websites where you shop like Amazon or Walmart if it's stored it's just too easy to click and spend having to enter your credit card information each time gives you more time to think before you buy hey it's Dr Mike a new study found that if you are older over 60 even moderate amounts of alcohol intake can increase your risk of cancer now look I don't want to be your personal Oppenheimer and the destroyer of your world but look limit the amount of alcohol maybe a mocktail is just what the doctor ordered I'm Dr Mike sto with the Fox medical team the temperature in Phoenix reached 100° and this is day 100 of 100 degree days temperatures have been that high since May 27th so this has already been a record-breaking summer for Phoenix the 100 day Mark far exceeded the previous record of 76 days at 100 degrees or more said in 1993 it's a lot of numbers basically it's really really hot for a long time okay so as you just saying it's hot for a long time it's been hot the National Weather Service says right now no end in sight to those triple digits that is pretty astounding 100 in a row with 100° and in many cases much higher than that Phoenix has had a few days this summer where it was up around 117 118° uh surprisingly uh our last 100° day was way back on August the 23rd and we've been well below that since then and I don't think we have any more on the way any more of the triple digits for the rest of the year so we're likely going to see the total stay at 23 for 2024 that's three above the average and well shy of last year when we totaled 55 of them here uh in the Dallas Fort Worth area rainfall pretty impressive in some spots Gregory and godly with 2.7 in Jeff and granberry a little over 2 Ines of rain David North AEL 1 and 3/4 of an inch of rain rainfall Jenny wenberg and Keller 1.27 but on the flip side Mark o' Conor out in rock wall with just about a hundredth of an inch of rain and this graphic here really tells the story this is rainfall estimated by Doppler radar over the last 48 hours you can clearly see the bullseye there from Southwest tan County especially through Grandberry Southern Parker County uh into Southern palap pendo County including straw Eastland County and essentially where you're seeing these orange red and purple colors we're talking anywhere from 3 to as much as 7 in of rain and yet on the other side of North Texas Eastern portions like Paris Greenville the lake talany area Canton Corsicana Athens barely anything at all now we've had some light rain of course throughout the morning and afternoon hours into the early evening much of that though is now drying up as we speak across North Texas I think we will see rain chances rise into that scattered category overnight tonight and that'll continue for a time tomorrow morning it won't be as heavy or as widespread as we witnessed earlier today and then things are going to really dry up quickly tomorrow afternoon and I think near zero rain chances for tomorrow night into Thursday morning 81 was our high today that was it and that actually occurred shortly after midnight we spent most of the day only in the low to mid 70s that's essentially where we are right now between 73 and 75° the humidity at 93% so it is awful muggy out there with a due point right now of 71 we've got 70s to our East including 76 at Canton 77 minola out west 73 Breen Ridge and currently 73 also in Fort Worth mckin and in Denton weak area of low pressure in the upper atmosphere is what helped trigger the uh widespread rain today across the area they're still seeing flooding down around the hill country west of Austin around the Fredericksburg area tonight tomorrow though overall after we get through in the morning is looking to be a drier day this is right at 7 o' in the morning scattered light rain showers across North Texas some heavier downpours way out to our West and then as we head towards midday we'll still see some ice isolated rain showers out there I think we're going to dry things up during the afternoon see a few breaks in the cloud cover that should allow temperatures to warm up to about 85 degrees or so and even more sunshine on tap for Thursday and that should boost temperatures up close to 90° looking ahead to the weekend we're going to see this uh Ridge of high pressure settling Southward into Missouri that'll push a weak cold front in here late Friday night early Saturday morning and it's not going to bring us substantially cooler temperatures we're only going to drop a few degrees but what you will notice with these northeasterly winds is much drier air dup points are really going to take a tumble this weekend and you'll feel that especially in the morning hours with more comfortable temperatures starting out around 72 early in the morning about a 30% chance of rain but I think by 3 4:00 in the afternoon most of us will be looking at partly sunny skies up to 90 on Thursday 91 slight chance of a shower storm on Friday and plenty of sunshine this weekend
