Caitlin Clark makes WNBA rookie history again in Indiana Fever win over Connecticut Sun

Caitlyn Clark has once again etched her name into WNBA history by setting a new record for the most three-pointers made by a rookie in a single season her record-breaking performance came during the Indiana fevers nail-biting 84 to 80 victory over the Connecticut Sun Clark hit her 86th three-pointer of the season in the first quarter surpassing the previous rookie record of 85 set by Ryan Howard of the Atlanta Dream in 2022 she went on to add two more three-pointers bringing her total to 88 for the SE season the 22-year-old sensation finished the game with 19 points five rebounds and five assists helping the fever break an 11 game losing streak against the sun before this Victory Indiana had lost all three matchups against Connecticut this season and had not defeated them since July 3rd 2021 according to WNBA statistics reflecting on the team's progress Clark said we're night and day different and that's what you're going to see with a young group obviously we're young we have some older players but a lot of the people that we have in our lineup are younger so just figuring each other out and learning I think has got us a long way the victory was a team effort with all five Indiana starters scoring in double figures Kelsey Mitchell led the charge with 23 points and has been in exceptional form averaging 25.6 points per game since the league resumed play following the Paris Olympic break during a postgame interview Mitchell praised Clark's contributions to the team stating I think the best part about it is that our chemistry continues to get better I value what Caitlyn brings to the table because not only does she have the pace in the space but she can shoot the lights out and you just got to be ready when your numbers called with a person like that the game was fiercely contested with neither team able to maintain a substantial lead the sun mounted a late game challenge but two critical free throws from Lexi Hull who scored 17 points in her second start of the Season sealed the upset win for the fever
