What’s A Wildcat Do Before Gameday? -- 2024 Football Home Opener

whether you're in the back of the end zone or filling up these stands you can catch all the action tomorrow at 6 p.m. against Youngtown state in a playoff rematch what's up wild cats game day is tomorrow and I'm here with Jaylen Goodman Conor Watkins Jaylen Sanchez and today they're going to tell us a little bit about what we should expect to see uh we're just going to put that hard work that we put in all this offseason and uh just ready to Showcase what our abilities and just come um yeah I mean I think looking at the offensive side of the ball we have explosion uh very similar to last year we have playmakers all over the field so just looking forward to the guys that are stepping up in some of those roles getting an opportunity to showcase that tomorrow explosive play is going to be a big day on just like has care I hope you I'm here with starting quarterback Conor Watkins and he's been starting for the past two seasons what are you looking forward to this season as this could be your potential last one with the c um yeah I mean I think you alluded to it last two seasons kind of had similar groups on offense um and that was a lot of fun going into this year I'm just super excited I think we've recruited some really good talent we've also gotten a couple of key guys in the the transfer portal because that world's crazy now and it's it's almost a necessity every year um so just with that I mean going through Spring ball going through the summer workouts now going through camp and everything just super excited to watch those guys out there have fun it's it's been a blast I mean they're a bunch of Ballers so I'm just excited to kind of lace it up with them and kind of let them run wild and let them make the plays and just try to get everybody the ball so that's exciting what have you learned about yourself maybe as a player but also as a person over your time here um I mean that's a it could be a long answer I think um if you could summon that just I mean expanding like Brotherhood honestly like coming into here I had no idea what to expect expect playing a division one scort um and I mean ever since I was a freshman it's it's pretty nice here cuz everybody's just super close like you could have and I've talked to a lot of buddies that I know that have played at other programs and you could it's very clicky there's a lot of different groups and they hang out with their people and they don't really talk to others here it's not really like that everybody kind of gets along with everybody you could see offensive lineman going to dinner with defensive backs and hanging out with them outside of football which is just not super common uh so that's kind of the number one thing that I've kind of gained here and also just outside of that it's the same thing with the coaches and the administration ever since I've gotten here with had pretty much the same coaching staff and I think that's just a testament to what Villanova is it's a family it's a Brotherhood it's a bond and that goes deeper with football so that's kind of the number one thing I'm here with Jaylen Goodman he's a safety for the wild cats and he's going to tell us a little bit about this new wild cat defense we're about to see uh yeah we have a we have a lot of guys returning we have a new cornerback look we have um zamir out there he's a this will be his first year starting but we have we have a lot of mature guys so we're pretty pretty pretty experienced on the defense B so we should be good you know everyone should know what they're doing and uh you know just ready to attack and play ball and you had an outstanding performance as we saw last year in that playoff match against Youngstown State what are you looking forward to and what fuels your memory from that game that you want to carry on into this season uh I guess I just want to stay uh stay ferocious Stay Stay aggressive stay vicious you know uh last year I did pretty good at attaching the routes and just to being tight to my man so I just want to make sure I'm on point with everything you know just making my plays that I make just uh you know being the ball player that I am and you're going into your sixs here with the cats what is something about it here this field the stands behind me and just the energy of the wild cats that really made it feel like home uh I just think that I just think it's that family environment you know just being with my boys my brothers my teammates and the coaches and just having everybody here all the fans you know it's just a good environment to play in and being around so I just figured why not why why would I want to leave I just know just stay you know just be just playing this good atmosphere amazing thank you so much so excited to watch what's up everyone I'm here with Jaylen Sanchez he's a wide receiver and he's on the rise what are you looking forward to In This Cat's offense and obviously your performance and ancing your balls this year um it's a big thing on Improvement I'm a big guy on Improvement I you know I can't dwell on the pass whatever happened last season happened last season this a whole new year so I proud myself on just taking the next step forward not worrying about what I did yesterday but worrying about what what I can doose today what helps you prepare physically and mentally for a game and it doesn't have to be just about training it could be outside that anything that keeps your mind right okay um one thing before game a big thing for me pregame is I'll I'll grab a football throw my headphones on and my favorite playlist on you know some Drake put some Drake on and uh I'll take a couple laps around the field tossing the ball hand in hand just talking to myself some positive selft talk um some visualization that's a big thing for me for the games what what are you looking forward to most this year and this game coming up against M no offensively defense but I'm looking forward to this cat offense the explosiveness is on a whole different level the connection is on a whole different level we may have a couple dudes that we lost but we we've got dudes who are already step up are you one of those dudes for sure all right anything else you want to add to cats fans or anything that we might not know about you um one thing I would like to say is come out and be l don't be quiet in up stand just make some noise what are some of your game day Superstition I like to getat a pack of of sour Pat watermelons every game day that's my that's my morning stack so that give that gives me right every time those are the best those are the best they're amazing uh something I started recently um is breath work start just working out taking a lot of deep breaths visualizing with your eyes closed just what you want like different things you're seeing we're expecting um other than that just a Pregame playlist that I always listen to it's got a wide variety so that's kind of just what I roll with love to see it I'm a simple guy um two quick things I always grab two Gator lights I got a kiwi a strawberry kiwi and orange and orange always goes first kiwi comes right after the Orange is go pregame yeah that's for routine love all these routines might have to take for myself I mean I'll be watching on the sidelines and shering you on all game what is your message to the Cs watch you and continue to support you all season uh we we just appreciate all the support and uh we're just happy to see you guys out for the game come have fun have a blast you're in college come enjoy it beautiful weather tomorrow night it's not going to be too hot so grab a couple drinks with your friends in the tailgate area come see us for the Wildcat walk and then watch us uh kick some
