it was a terrifying morning for parents dropping their kids off at a Richmond daycare an intruder broke into the center where 20 children were inside cdv's Abigail Turner spoke with one parent who claims the rcmp's response time was concerning a parent's worst nightmare there is a guy trying to waer here in the day care please send a help here for us the terrifying moment an intruder tries to break into this Richmond daycare early Friday morning is the most terrifying moment of my life Carolina Kaa got the call from her husband just after 7 as he was dropping their son off at Royal Academy police car is outside and people are really nervous and terrified because a really a strange guy just tried to break him in the daycare she says the man went around the building and entered through the back door as that was happening parents inside called Richmond RCMP she says the response took way too long we are sending somebody you just need to stop for second claiming they waited 20 minutes for officers to arrive how po can take that long to be in the spot when we are talking about around 20 kids that were inside the daycare so it's a really emergency situation they they should act um more quick according to RCMP it was almost exactly 10 minutes from the time a call was made until an officer arrived we don't have a targeted times when we respond but what I can tell you is that this is our assessment our risk assessment is always ongoing given what the information is provided to the call taker at that time Richmond RCMP call this a random incident and are still investigating a motive behind why this man wanted to get inside the daycare he remains in custody really afraid how how about if the guy is free tomorrow to come back and do the same thing and with another baby on the way she and her husband are looking at other daycare options that don't have external doors Abigail Turner CTV News Richmond
